Total ‘crushing’ can cost a lot of resources and is often risky in real life.
If you can offer a peace deal after a display of force, that’s often the best scenario (ie, USA and the Marshall Plan).
Law 16: Be Busy: Make Others Fight & Earn Your Time

Using presence and absence strategically is a valid concept. But once you’re busy conquering it just isn’t your main focus.

Instilling fear may occasionally be helpful for a leader. But instead of ‘an air of unpredictability’, use bursts of high-intensity emotions, potentially even raising your voice. It’s more aligned with masculine power.
Law 18: Build Fortresses, While Being Comfortable Outside of Them
❌ Do Not Build Fortresses to Protect Yourself ➡️ Fortresses are good to have
Fortresses aren’t just literal walls, but strategies to protect your assets, businesses, and mental well-being.
- Diversify investments, keep some funds hidden
- Own a secure survival retreat
- Set up fallback options in case (business) partners betray
