I actually had an anxiety attack so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack. I dumped him a couple of days later and wouldn't you know, I'm completely okay?

I think every post had to have "problematic" or "intersectional" in it somewhere in that group. I'm half expecting one of them to find my posts here and share it with the group, to prove that they did the right thing by kicking this not-feminist out.

It's nuts watching everyone getting immediately defensive when presented with opposing views, but still wanting people to listen to them without arguing back. It's fucking weird. I'm still subbed to twox but that's mainly just to remind myself how the other side thinks.

Well shit, that explains why I thrived in engineering school where I was 1 of 4 women in a class with 30+ men, and got my ass booted out of an all girls club! Thanks for sharing that, what a great read.

When you meet other people who agree with you, you can all of a sudden be more vocal about your nonsense. It's awful.

That's awful! I remember one time I posted an article in the group with no comment of my own. The mod gave me shit because I posted it without my own opinion. What? I was the asshole because I didn't want to sway other people's opinions? It was just ridiculous. So so glad I'm gone! They say they want debate, but it's not debate if you all fucking agree.

Woman here, I was in a Facebook group that originated in a female centric subreddit. I was ultimately kicked out for "not identifying as a feminist", and for continually being the oppositional voice. The echo chamber was fucking insane and they work hard to ensure nobody with opposing views stuck around. Getting booted was actually great, it was fucking toxic. You're right in thinking getting out of the chamber helps, but you're wrong in thinking they'll actually leave or even listen.

That's exactly how I took it at first too, took me a minute to get some context

That's a really interesting theory, and I think you're on to something. Mainly because I'm a female who has both a dad and a step dad that spent time with me as a kid. They both had demanding careers that meant time away and weird hours, but they always made time for me.

Woman here, I was pretty miffed when he made that 50% women in the cabinet rule. You hire the best person for the job, that's it. Ugh.

Female engineer here. I'm really against these programs and things designed for getting women into STEM. I arrived here because I want to be here, not because I was enticed into it. It's okay that there are more male engineers, and more female teachers. Why can't we just accept this?!?

It really does!

Yea we're kind of all over the board with the gender norms too. I'm an engineer, but I love dresses and nail polish. He always drives when we're in the car together, even though I'm quite capable of driving. I spend most Sundays in the kitchen cooking while he games. I weightlift, he runs. I do groceries and laundry because I enjoy them, he does like 98% of the rest of the household cleaning. It's a great balance!
/r/MensRights13/08/15 07:21 PM

It's not even like I felt like I was breaking a norm though. I saw what I wanted and I went for it. Nobody gives either of us shit because I initiated. It's quite refreshing. Now I just have to ask him to marry me, that's the big one that is a little tough for me.
/r/MensRights13/08/15 05:37 PM

Female here, I asked my boyfriend out and asked him to move in with me. I know that's not the norm, but I did it and it worked! I couldn't be happier :)

It's so true. The reason there are more men in tech is because they're typically more interested in it. Same reason why there's lots of female teachers or nurses. Differences in gender aren't a bad thing, pretending otherwise is what's bad!! I feel I should mention, I am a woman in engineering school. The only people who ask or care about the amount of women in my field are... Other women.

I'm a female in engineering school. There are 4 of us in my graduating class of 30ish. Guess who cares? Nobody. Did us ladies get pushed into it? No, we're there because we want to be. Did we face ANY barriers to entry? None.

This makes me fucking livid. Feminists tend to scream for equality, then complain when men get the same things that us women have? Fuck right off. Can someone rewrite replacing all the gendered words with the reverse ones? Or has it already been done?

Female engineering student here. These programs to get one gender into an occupation traditionally held by the other gender have always seemed pretty strange to me. Of course all male nurses and midwives deserve as much respect as the females do, just like I deserve the respect that a male counterpart of mine would receive. Men know they can become nurses. Women know they can become engineers. Most men just don't want to go into nursing. I honestly don't care if my ob-gyn/nurse/midwife is a male…

Age of consent is 14 (you can have sex with someone up to two years older), and 16 is the age of consent to do whatever you want.

What's really fucked up is if that had happened in Ontario, it'd be perfectly legal. edit - the sexting, not the forced erection

I meant more in the sense that you're more likely to see a man working on a construction site, or as an industrial mechanic. It's not that a woman couldn't do those jobs (because they do), but most just don't have the desire to pursue it in the first place.
/r/MensRights13/06/14 11:23 AM

Very true!
/r/MensRights12/06/14 07:17 PM

Wouldn't the rate of industrial accidents be higher for men, merely because men are more inclined to hold that kind of job? Or has there been some sort of data normalization?

I pay $5 a month for my birth control, and it'd only be $20 a month without insurance. You're dead on in saying condoms and the pill are cheap. However people are idiots, and excel at fucking things up. You'd be surprised at how many women can't, for some reason, take a pill at the same time every day. I had this whacky idea to set a timer on my cell phone and keep the pills in my purse so I could make sure I was doing it properly.
/r/MensRights11/11/13 06:21 PM

I'm fairly certain my insurance is paying for my birth control, not the government.

My boyfriend and I went grocery shopping tonight, and it was a pretty equal split of carrying shit up to the apartment. Making 2 trips sucks, so we each carried 5 super full bags.

It's not so much that I love having dick in my mouth, I love making him happy and hearing his reactions. It turns me on to turn him on. I have no idea as to how to change someones mind. When it comes to sex, pressure to do shit you don't want to do never turns out well. I love some trimmed pubes, with shaved balls. I love balls! They're so fucking entertaining!

It's not that I can't move my own couch, (I've lived alone for about 9 months in total since I moved out 7 years ago. You develop ways to do shit as a single woman, living alone) it's just easier for him to do it. Just like I love to cook, as "stereotypical" as that is. I enjoy the hell out of it, so it's more often than not me making dinner for us. And that's just because that's how we are, not because we think it should be like that.
/r/MensRights11/09/13 05:58 PM

Well to be fair, I expect him to go down on me too (which he does, and he loves it). But you're right. People should just help people if they see someone in need, regardless of gender. I'd help someone struggling with their groceries or something, if they were a man or a woman. I do get my boyfriend to open jars sometimes, because it is easier for him to do. And I never get the desire to rearrange the living room, whereas he does. And I love it when he does!
/r/MensRights11/09/13 05:56 PM

I admit we do adhere to some "stereotypical" gender roles, but that's what WE want to do, not because society thinks we should act like that. Hell, I'm in engineering school and he's in school for the arts. That's pretty uncommon in and of itself!

I'm not even saying I'm weak. I'm saying he's strongER than I am.

He actually enjoys rearranging the furniture, whereas I really couldn't care less. I do like when he changes the place up though! I just never have the urge to do it myself.

Female here. To be honest, my boyfriend is stronger than me and he's more inclined to move the couch anyway. And I do enjoy sucking his dick. There's no sexism, that's just how our relationship works I suppose!

Because not only is this the internet, it's r/mensrights. Where it's assumed that most people browsing are male. I just felt my point would make more sense if I said I was a female instead of just saying "I agree!" in which case I would have probably just been told to upvote instead of not contributing to the conversation.

Way to completely miss why I made it known I'm a female. Also, the fact that you used "you're" instead of "your" makes you look like the silly one here :)

But, there ARE girls that enjoy the pudge. Take myself for example. I hate hate haaaaaaaaaaaate a guy with a 6 pack. I mean they look nice and all, but am I sexually attracted to it? Not at all. I've always liked bigger guys (both wide and tall), but that may be because I've always been bigger myself. Thankfully, I also have a very limited fear of rejection and if it does happen, I bounce back in no time.

That's just awful, I feel so exceptionally bad for this man. Eating disorders are surely not just a womans disease, and they do need to be studied way more in men. I'm not going to say there is more pressure to be thin for a woman than a man in this society, but I think there is more pressure to look better. A man can still have pudge, a belly or messy hair and still be attractive. A woman however, her image is usually so tied in to her weight that they are one and the same. I wish there was som…

Female here. When I was 6, my parents split up. There was no child support payments to my mom, the deal was I saw my dad once a week, and we went shopping. He bought me all of my school stuff, and clothes. Which obviously included undies. I was always with him while shopping, but he'd always feel so awkward with me, he'd usually give me his debit card and walk away. As a kid, I didn't get it. But now I do, and it's seriously messed up. If a mom can take her son boxer shopping, or be able to buy …
