I found this article interesting and thought I would share.

Sorry I didn't read the other replies before I commented. I started with home churching my kids and now they have the option every Sunday to go or stay home. I did defer to my husband wishes for them to stay home when they were very little because he's the head of my house. Remember that faith is not taught, although religion is, and know that you are starting them out on their own lives.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. This is very hard. I am a Christian and my dear husband is an atheist. It was very hard for me to deal with for many years. We talked before marriage and I guess I had this vague assumption he would come back to his faith (my first mistake). I assumed his lack of belief was due to an event in his life where he was hurt because of someone's religion and not due to his own thought process (my second mistake). Then I got frustrated as my faith continued to grow with ch…

Put on some music! Light a candle and put on some cute shoes. I organized my closet in high heels the other day while watching Hairspray. I had a blast!

Soon enough! I find the time between Christmas and spring the hardest for me mentally. Seasonal depression is real for me! Have fun running around today. You are doing an amazing thing caring for your family!

Any plans for a big spring clean? Or any other spring projects? I'm getting jazzed from the sun. I am planning on organizing my closet and deep cleaning everything (even the garage!!) over the next few weeks. I am in process of building a chicken coop and a bunny hutch, to move my buns outside come spring. My gardens need a lot of cleaning up as well. I usually like to make a big master list of a bunch of house projects to complete over the spring and summer around this time of year. Whatcha got…

Don't hide it!! That quickly becomes a slippery slope. While keeping in mind that you are a steward of the family income, if the spending is fair and it is value adding to your life then just own it! If you want to open in it in private then just tell him or take it to your room! I buy online often however I am trying more and more to support more quality shops and local is always a bonus.

I say do it then start trying for a baby towards the middle of your last year! I don't have a lot of value to add to the discussion, other ladies on here have all said it. Having babies will NOT make school any easier and you are still young.

Most of my friends would be astonished that I am RPW. Most of my married friends are housewives although I think this will change as their kids get older and they are more able to go back to work. I do love them as they are though, and just continue to do my own thing. Honestly, Red Pill is a very polarizing thing and there is a LOT of really heavy negativity surrounding it. Like you said, seeking women interested in femininity and gender roles is a much better plan than seeing Red Pill women I …

All these other amazing women who have commented are saying the same thing Stepford said... you can't have it both ways. The older I get the more I understand the true need for self care. The most put together, successful wives I know take the time to treat themselves and take care of themselves. It sounds like this is not an option for you at this time, what with working full time and running the household full time. I really hope you get that maid service and outsource what you comfortably can…

I wish this sub were more dynamic too, but I have a block about what to post. I read blogs that are housewife oriented, which is where I feel most like part of a broader community. What sort of content would you like to see more of on here?

Haha it's not all rosy. I feel like you have a leg up on many childless women who do not understand the reality of it. I sure didn't! And I love your line about requiring naivety to have children. I definitely agree. It is by far the best thing that has happened to me, causing me to become SUCH a better human overall. Be scared. Use your fear to prepare as best you can! And maybe stop nannying? Also, having children isn't a requirement as a woman. If after contemplation you decide you don't want…

Just came across this video. She seems very sweet and rational. I love seeing this positivity about my lifestyle on big media. It's nice to feel represented. I do wish the BBC had comments enabled to create a discourse. Although maybe it's for the best? I hope you ladies enjoy it!

I like watching old movies like Bedknobs and Broomsticks and having a bonfire and drinking cider and eating caramel apples. We go to a fun pumpkin patch every year as well. My son asked me to dress up like his princess because he wants to be a knight and who can say no to that? Although I would prefer the ease and noncommitment of skeleton or something easy. I enjoy spending time on homemade costumes. And always I decorate a Halloween cake at some point during this month. Also if anyone has idea…

Coming into my seventh year of parenthood so take it with a grain of salt, but I have found that having some close friends with same age range children has really made a huge difference in my overall happiness. Also volunteering in the school and being around many kids really puts my own children's behaviors or mannerisms into perspective. Being a mother can feel isolating so I really recommend reaching out. I also wish someone had explained PPD a bit better when I was pregnant because it really…

For me I respect her and appreciate her subjects but feel like she isn't quite seasoned enough for me to really get it. Perhaps if I were a younger. No disrespect meant, I just don't think I'm her demographic.

Wow what a rollercoaster. I have been quietly following your story. The first month of any relationship is fun but you don't really know anyone until you have been close for a year. Really often not until even longer. Real commitment and love take time. It sounds like you figured out a little about yourself recently. Hopefully your self growth continues. I wish you luck in your new relationship and will look for updates.

Here's an interesting article concerning one man's presentation on the differences in gender and how it is affecting current physicists. The presenter makes the case that science is currently under attack from feminists who are compelling employers to hire women over men, creating a problem of sexism. I personally have no insight into the reality of this situation and would love anyone involved in academics or science professions to weigh in!

The thing I am most excited about right now is my new miter saw. I have a project list as long as my arm and can't wait to get started on them when school starts back up. First up is a simple ironing center and a blanket ladder. I just finished tearing our old rotting deck down and cut down the pieces that were salvageable. That has taken all my free time other than gardening. I have been making a super tasty peanut sauce for dinner recently and also trying to make more sauces in general and mak…

I like yours. I would add... Expecting to be treated like a princess every day. And taking your SO for granted. These two things are what have broken up my peers marriages that I have witnessed so it may be confirmation bias. However, expecting another human to keep you on a pedestal for the rest of their lives is unreasonable and a recipe for discontent as is constantly looking at what you don't have rather than what you do have. My husband has two very specific dislikes so I cater to those. Other than that he prefers me to dress modestly, which really just means not too much cleavage and no short shorts. As a mom in a conservative town I would stick out if I was less modest than that anyway. I love florals too! I am a jeans gal, but I add feminine touches, and have been trying to make more of an effort now to bring that out.

My parents made sure that we never heard them say a bad word about one another. Complaining to mum about dad or vice versa was a huge no-no, and she always talked him up in front of us. It really bred an atmosphere of respect in our house and left my brother and I feeling really secure when a lot of our friends parents were having issues. I really love this.

I don't doubt your or your SO's commitment to one another, and don't think not being legally married is an issue. That's the choice of two consenting adults. Your child is too young to make life decisions based on philosophy and you are not protecting him by not being a legal parent. I can't understand it, honestly. I'm not even trying to be bitchy I just don't see how your SO fearing child support would be compelling enough to not be a legally recognized parent. YOU did not adopt this child I t…

Well, I wouldn't be happy either! IMO the main issue isnt child support but parental custody.

Not being recognized as a legal parent strikes me as being exceedingly unstable. There is no way I would make a commitment to parent a child and not ensure it was covered to the letter of the law. The unfairness of family court is well documented, but I would rather face that (and remain true to my own ethics) than I would give up any parental rights prematurely. Children do come first and the first thing they need are parents who are committed to THEM not a moral high ground.

I mean, he's only 7. All you should really be teaching him is self esteem and useful skills. Chores, stability, etc. If you are in a RP relationship, you are already modelling your ideal lifestyle. I would not talk to philosophically about interpersonal relationships to a young child. What specifically are the certain redpill truths you are referring to? Do you think that the 7 year old girl thinks the boy is cute and is trying to engage with him? Why did you include the information that your na…

I used to think my husband was unhappy even though he would tell me he was very happy. Then I realized that he and I express our happiness very differently. He just keeps things bottled up more. And his negative words are literally him just leaving it on the table and moving on, whereas I will pick that negativity up and hold it all day. So I started not internalizing these emotions (as I perceived them) and not making them be about me. That really helped me. It might just be a tough season for …

I think that sounds like the division of labor would be super unfair in your cousins house. My man works hard all day long. I get to stay home and clean when and how I want. If I spend four hours doing household chores I still have at least four more of leisure or in all actuality active parenting time. I feel very lucky to have found someone willing to support this lifestyle. When I hear my friends complain I can NOT relate because there are few places I would rather be than in the garden with …

I'm so excited for you! I can relate with thinking you will be a bad mother based on your past. It's very hard to feel like you are going in blind when you grew up without proper modelling. I think your awareness of this already makes you a great future-mother. So many people fall into parenthood but you are walking in with your eyes open and years of life experience behind you.

Make and gift strawberry cakes and crumbles! Also, make margaritas and invite me over!! I bet you could make an awesome strawberry BBQ sauce. And they are good in salads. I often make a quick and easy syrup for ice cream and waffles from them. What did you decide on?

I do agree that you may want to be cautious when creating a dependence that is not guaranteed at this juncture. But others have spoken to that well. I will say that I was NOT a great homemaker when I started out but I definitely am now! So don't think you are relegated to being a mediocre homemaker for the rest of your life. Approach it like you do your profession at first until it becomes second nature. And when you have setbacks don't get stuck in them. I am excited for your dream to come true…

Well, what do you want to do in your heart of hearts? Quitting your job before marriage/children because your fiancée gave you an ultimatum may not be your best choice. That being said, one of my best friends is a SAHW/SAHM who was a very well paid therapist for many years. I love her style! Very cute. I love that citrus dress particularly! I have been drawn recently to more of a pin up style, and have been browsing shops online. However, I personally am not offended by women dressing immodestly. I think that your mind and personality and soul are what matters and clothes are for fun. So even if a lady is wearing hot pants and a bikini top to the club, she could still be quite innocent, imo. My husband is SHOCKED (not in a good way) when he sees women and girls wea…

I feel for you. I was raised atheist but became a Christian. However, my husband is not and thus we do not raise our kids within my belief frame. I feel confident they will figure out what they need when they are able to do so. My man is a man of routine. I pack basically the same thing in his lunch box day in and day out. A salad in a mason jar, some cut up veggies, a couple of different cracker varieties, a small homemade granola bar and a couple of pieces of fruit. I also always have a coffee poured in a to go cup but he only takes in 75% of the time. It is very hard to see those you care about make poor choices in the personal lives. One of my dearest friends of almost 20 years, has had a string of loser boyfriends basically since she started dating in high school, with only a couple of them having been good men. It is SO HARD to keep my mouth shut sometimes when I hear about the newest guy or she tells me which ex she's been "hanging out with." I would say my pantry staples are probably pretty typical. I usually like to have things to make burritos, frozen and canned fruits and vegetables, canned and dried beans, whole wheat angel hair pasta and canned tomatoes for marinara and all those pizzas! I am way into painting eggs for easter lol. I am going to boil 3 dozen eggs tomorrow and my bestie is coming over to dye them with me and the boys. I am very excited! I have tried a bunch of methods. I like the shaving cream way, and the dry salt way a bunch. I also like using really concentrated dye and paintbrushes. But pastel, one color eggs are so classic and gorgeous. I recommend the dry salt way for you ladies with young kids because cleaning up vinegar and food coloring can get old. But s…

I really don't like being told what to do or receiving unsolicited advice. Whenever someone tells me to do something or to do something a certain way, my first impulse is to do the opposite. You might try understanding this aspect of your personality and evaluating if it is helping or hurting you. As Stingray said, vet vet vet. In my own life I used to be very similar to you. I don't even know how many times I told my husband "don't tell me what to do." And sometimes it can still rankle me becau…

i think that sexual favours/dinners/chores/etc are nice, but should sort of be the norm or a little extra rather than a gift in themselves. I totally agree. To me that's like saying my husband bringing home his paycheck is a birthday present. That's not to say it isn't awesome and we shouldn't be grateful daily but it's also the typical task, not out of the ordinary.

I quit my job right after I got married and everyone asked me why like I was abusive or something. It was my husband's idea!! And it is SO much better to run a tight ship at home and be less stressed in general then to have the extra cash. Nest before the insanity of babies hits you!

My husband is ridiculously inappropriate. We don't curse in front of the children and expect people we are around to refrain as well. I personally say, "Holy Smokes" a lot. And "shucks" or "dang it" instead of like damn or whatever.

I liked The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands too! I used to listen to Dr Laura's radio show during the day when my kids were babies and couldn't really understand it. I don't now because I don't think it's super appropriate for them to hear all the time, but I want to subscribe again when they are both in school.

This isn't exactly new, but my husband has been going through a lot at work, having to come down hard on a newer employee who has a very poor work ethic. I used to hesitate to email him through the day when he was at work because I assumed he didn't want to be bothered. It turns out he totally likes it so I make the effort to email him once or twice a day, without bothering him with my stresses or anything, just keeping it light and maybe asking his opinion on a parenting question or future sche…

I usually do it right after my husband leaves for work. Sometimes I don't get fully ready until before I have to take my kid to preschool. Often though, if I am gardening or doing woodworking or even just had a hard exercise day or have been playing outside with the kids I take another shower before my husband gets home. I dress casually at all times as that is what my husband prefers but I at least try to look the best I can for most of the day. I hate answering the door, getting the mail or ta…

Do YOU want to stay at home? I am in the same boat as you but I definitely actively chose this life and obviously my husband wanted it too. We both made it clear from the onset of our relationship before we got married. I would take this life over being a working mother any day. I think you will find that if you treat the work you have to do with the same dedication you would have with a part time job you can spend two or three hours a day and have your home be basically spotless. Just find your…

My mama was 43 when she had me. I love her dearly but she didn't live to see her grandchildren. I do wish my parents had been younger but she was a great mother. I had my children before the age of 30 and am so grateful I did. Now I will be only in my 40's when they become adults and hopefully they will have children reasonably young so I may become a grandma and see my grandkids grow. There are definitely some very classy ones. I agree with this. At first yes, she would have been paid less and that would have been fair. Now that it is a massive hit show, and she really is the main character in it, she should absolutely be getting paid equally to Macy. I don't feel like Macy had to support her to appease feminists either, because if he were just silent on the matter I don't think Rossum would have dragged his name into it. Yes! Great article, although I was not familiar with the case she is talking about before now. I feel like the extremists on both sides are really making a mess of things, as per usual. The feminist message (which I do think holds merit) is being lost in what appears to be matriarch rule which as Atwood says is just the flip of the coin but still the same thing.

This is an interesting article concerning the MeToo campaign which is massive right now. I for one am very glad these high profile abusers and creeps are getting called out, however I do feel like it can easily lead to an atmosphere where it is not okay to be a man. I also feel like many women are abusing the term MeToo. Having a man be a jerk or even unwantedly kind to you isn't the same as having a man sexually abuse you. I agree with Stingray in that if you are worried about it when you have company then you will not be focused on making your guest comfortable. Since I view keeping house and raising the children as my job I absolutely am more self conscious of any of my self perceived failings.

It's so astounding that a woman would claim false rape on a man. It's one of the very lowest things IMO. Not only does it ruin the man's life, it also makes every other claim of rape less believable. Hopefully the woman in this case will have charges leveraged against her.

Pay special attention to scent! That's my #1 homemaking tip. When my bathroom smells like eucalyptus its like a spa. When I have rosemary handsoap all over its so comforting. I drop lavender essential oil on my heating vents or radiators and it makes the whole place homier. Buy the nice dishsoap because the smell can linger after you wash your sink. And buy fresh flowers when you can. A $4 bouquet can last two weeks if you take care of them and choose wisely at the store!

Haha, it's true! Although some of the women I spend time with seem to wear their busy-ness like a badge but their lives seem always a mess. Almost as if the things they are spending time doing aren't fulfilling their needs and dreams. I am blessed to have simple needs ;)

What you touched on about the female sphere not being in existence is what sprung out to me in this article. If I could order society better, I would not tie up men's lives in the service of women as much as they are now. Realistically, the breadwinning role would still take up most of men's time and energy. But we could aim to free up as much time as possible for men to undertake a more public oriented role, alongside other men, designed to allow men to develop intellectually, spiritually and c…

I meant more like the mass produced dollar store flair than something wonderful and homemade! The kids cut out bats and ghosts at Halloween and we do red and green construction paper chains at Christmas too. In my opinion there is always space for anything made with love by an adult or child!! Those prayer flags are beautiful and I love the sentiment. I took a print making class and still have the tools although haven't used them in ages. What a great idea though. You could reuse some of those s…

I don't do every single holiday. For my porch I typically do a patriotic summer starting late in June, a fall decorate that turns from Halloween to Thanksgiving while staying fairly neutrally fall, a Christmassy winter and then spring/Easter. This all consists of my redoing my huge grapevine wreath with fake florals and for Christmas fresh boughs and holly I've harvested and then switching up the potted plants and any little knick knacks or decorative pieces and outdoor throw pillows on my chair…

I finally got that wax warmer and some burt's bees wax for melting. However I am dismayed at the short life of the scent. It doesn't seem to last past an hour. Any one have any recommendations for a longer lived brand that isn't too icky? Or perhaps just adding my own essential oils once the initial scent is disseminated? Also, as an update, I got all honeysuckle Meyer's cleaners this go around and it is just a bit too sweet for me. Go figure huh? I'm eager to try their fall apple line though.

Well I love this article! I am looking forward to reading more from her too. Being my best looking self is really important to my mental well being. Then I know I will be able to handle any situation and generally being the best me rolls over into other areas of my life like eating healthfully, getting exercise, not raising my voice at my kids, being a dutiful wife, etc.

Yes please! My husband was hustling in a blue collar job when we met and got married. He has worked his way into the white collar world and I am just so proud of him. He works so hard at work and it has paid off. He is so confident and driven. We decided I would stay home while we raise our sons and it is all possible because of him! Sometimes I get weary of his super high expectations but my whole family benefits from him pushing us to be our best. I love that man!!

What limits do you all have in your houses concerning technology? Like no phones in the bedroom etc. We don't have any actual "rules" but do have habits. I'm thinking of giving myself some stricter rules, like internet only before 10 am or something on days I am home all day. And no TV before afternoon preschool for my kids. Just curious what everyone does in their homes!

Oh my goodness this is amazing. I use a daily planner... Currently a really cute bloom on from Amazon. I am thinking of getting one of those tiny binder ones like my mama had. Hey ladies. My oldest is starting preschool in a few weeks. It is all so new to me. I have spent all day every day with him barring maybe 10 date days with grandma. There is so much hate on that sub! I hate some people's lifestyles (helloooo neighborhood meth heads) but I don't dwell on it in my free time. Those people are weird. And I agree. I have noticed this even with other parents complaining about how they shouldn't have had kids, etc. Like what the heck people. Kids are hilarious. Clearly if you hate being a parent you are doing it wrong.

Didn't you get what you wanted with getting to plan your wedding how you want with plenty of time for planning and invitations? My (potentially bad) advice is to chill out, try to relate to his family without being a door mat and just enjoy the visit. If she tries to get inside info from you again say, "You better talk to him about that." Smile and be polite and I doubt you will have problems.

My boys are 1.5 years apart to the day. I personally knew we would only have two kids and I am so so glad I had them so close and before my 30's. Seriously teared up at this. Her poor boys growing up with all... that. I wrote this huge long tirade but basically, way to be an incredibly terrible mom. My husband and I value fitness highly. Being healthy means a better quality of life as we age. We will not put up with one of us stopping our exercise regime. I do not want to be a carer for someone just due to their sloth. And same goes for him. We are both ride or die and would not leave the other if there were an accident or something but if one of us were overweight (significantly) and not willing to exercise and diet our lifestyles would no longer mesh and it would likely be a marriage ende…

I'm so sorry. I breastfed too and would do it again but that first baby was hell for the first month. Cracked nipples hurt so much. Putting lettuce leaves on your breasts can help a tiny bit for a minute. My experience was just giving it time and sticking it out until your body adapts. I wish there was better advice! FWIW, by the second baby I was a pro and had much much less pain. Good luck!!! And CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

6 years ago I could have written these words. Find a therapist. Read self help and spiritual awareness type books. Introspect. Understand its disrespectful to yourself and your man to not feel or identify your emotions. So I am a 9 now with 4 creeping around in back. I personally feel like this changed a lot and in my early and mid 20's I was more of a 4/7. I have the book called the Wisdom of the Enneagram by Riso-Hudson and really like it. Is there a place in your house you really love? Somewhere tidy and pleasing to look at? Mine is at my kitchen table looking past my pretty curtains at the flowers on the deck and the trees in the yard. I take mom breaks there with tea. It can really soothe me in only a few minutes. Everyone has given you such good advice. When the time comes, don't be concerned about doing things the "right" way or even the way you envisioned. My SIL was so disappointed in herself when she ended up being induced and given pain meds because she had set up this narrative in her mind that she wouldn't need any medical intervention. It really messed with her. Childbirth, while as old as time, is unpredictable. I had a 20 hour labor and emergency c section with #1 and #2 was born vaginally 30 m…

Wow, thanks for the thoughts. It totally isn't my business! I guess by being comfortable enough to act like that when I can hear is kind of her way of drawing me in and making me implicit.
