People are free to interpret things as they will. But I often use characters of indeterminable genders and ethnicities because occasionally people grind out interpretations like this that are light years from the intent. The cartoon is really about gestures—by anybody to anybody. It's not about romance or gender issues. Maybe the fact that I drew a man and woman makes that unclear.

Nope. And you're free to judge or misjudge me however you like. I would never even try to appeal to every person on the internet. You can see how impossible that would be. I draw what I think is funny, and hope some people will agree.

I'll answer it here because you asked me to. Most of the time, in my work, anyway, characters don't represent groups. They just exist in a moment. To me, his isn't about MEN and WOMEN and DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Character A pissed off character B, and that's it. I've seen interpretations get out of hand quickly: So, is this about white men?
