I resisted this concept more than any other because I found it the most conflicting with my personal situation and beliefs. Then I had to admit that that is a very solipsistic way of looking at it, and I was all, "gadammit Rollo!" But I did accept it. See, I've been with the same man for basically my entire adult life. I never placed a high value on money as a thing I was looking for in a partner because money (read: exactly hypergamy) ended a loft of marriages around me when I was a kid. Not ev…

Hey there! I'm one of those big expressive eye people so take this with a grain of salt. I am also a customer service vet of many years, so reading people I've never met and only talk to for two minutes is kinda my thing. Be conscious of your eyebrows. Even if you don't do makeup, get them done or do them yourself, and avoid the wax off-draw on like the plague (personal prejudice here. more salt needed) and avoid extreme or unnatural styling. Raise them as if concerned when you listen. Be aware …

My relationship started and has continued in a waaaaay more RP manner than I ever would have admitted a couple years ago. I've been with my man 9 or 11 years depending on how you reckon it. What sets him apart from TRP most is a lack of career ambition. He jokes that I'm not high maintenance enough to force him into it. We're both in that millennial gray area where we spent our twenties hoping our adult cards would come in the mail and neither of us went to college, though we both pursue our own…

Brace for rant... Aaaand...begin. I was raised by the good kind, who was all about women having rights and options. She was born in 1950 and experienced real sexism, as in, "We read your extensive list of qualifications, see that you speak and read a foreign language, and note your curve-wrecking test scores. However, our magazine doesn't hire women as writers, though you are welcome to type for us." I considered myself a feminist until i realized that nowadays it has devolved into entitlements …

I agree! BMI is a very broad way to measure a personal success. I think the healthy range for my height ranges something like 35-40lb, it's not very helpful once you're in that range and looking for guidance. Accounting for frame size, even with the valid criticism that it is hard to measure it between different people, is a big factor. I know the old met life weight charts aren't perfect, but they are a lot more specific and helped me zero in on a goal weight range. Also, aim for a reasonable s…

I will second that you need new friends. I'm mainly a lurker here, and a new one at that so take as much salt as you like with my advice. I see you encountering the problem of making friends as an adult compounded by having a system of beliefs and politics that make the available pool of choices even smaller. It's not easy, I get you. I make acquaintances very easily, but close friends not so much. I personally have a lot of issues trusting other women that go all the way back to mean girls in s…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
