Downside - set back all my life plans by roughly 2 years. Upside - am with a WAY better woman, living my best life as a father/husband/scientist/gymnast/millionaire. Best revenge is a good life.

Received ILYBINILWY on 17 June, 2011. Moves out 19 June. 29 June, attend marriage counseling; she refuses to return. 9 July she discuss terms of divorce, she starts smoking. 11 July she changes the bank account passwords. 15 July am served divorce papers. 28 July I verbally agree to a settlement, because I'm dumb. 2 August I agree, in writing, to a settlement which is financially worse than what was agreed to verbally. I don't think she was doing anyone else at the time, but was in a relationshi…

It is shocking to me that people don't realize this. There are chores. Among the chores are things like laundry, dishes, yard work, and cooking. Also among the chores are things like assembling furniture, budgeting, accounting, fixing the dryer, and setting up child protection on the iPad. The household must find an acceptable division of the work between the husband, wife, and contracted labor.

Fair enough! Thank you for the routine and the advice - we're all here to help! I really appreciate the help! In regards to chinups, my current strength is at 3x controlled one arm negatives - I just got to a 10% rep - its just so much weight on one arm (I can do 60+s one arm hangs, and 5+ one arm toes-to-bar, so there were months of prep work here). Anyways, for the elbow tendinitis (which is incredibly common with gymnastic rings training, btw), I generally do the following: (1) 100+ 15lb. cur…

FYI - Navy method has me at 11% (5'9", 154, 30inWaist, 14inNeck), which agrees with the estimate from visual inspection. Comically - I used the BF% estimator in my household scale this morning, and it said 22%, which indicates just how bad it is, because there is no freaking way that I could lose 20 pounds off this 153 pound frame to get to 10%bf. I may not be 10%, but that amount of weight loss (5'9" 133) represents death. Just to follow up - Can I confirm that your above numbers are generally …

Oh for sure - and thank you. Now compare against a bulk/cut DEXA from this week (https://www.reddit.com/r/BulkOrCut/comments/dbeh7r/dexa_scan_says_11bf_posting_to_hopefully_give_a/) which indicated 11% - he has more abs, but I have more vascularity. It is obviously not an exact science. I was using 12% number to dial in my diet, and have recently reduced those numbers to 11% as I've lost about as I would have expected to be at 11% using weekly average nymbers. That said - Can we agree that I'm n…

Hey - thanks for the tips! That bicep exercise is very light weight, trying to avoid elbow tendinitis from the OAC (one arm chinups) negatives that I've been slowly mixing in to replace overhead pulldowns (the eventual point anyways). Your workout is pretty large on volume and weight both! Is that rear fly a "per arm" number, or a combined number? If it is a "per arm", I'm nowhere near your numbers! If it is a total number (cable machine?), then I'm going to see if I can start stealing parts of …

Why? Because my work gym has a leg press machine instead of a squat rack?
/r/MarriedRedPill09/10/19 11:34 PM
1

This is a "Shoulder press" from the gym machine - this level of weight isn't uncommon on such a machine; it isn't an olympic lift That said - you might note the stadler press HS from the earlier video/link - I'm currently training 1 arm handstands, which require 2xBW press+balance (310lbs) at the full extent of the movement. I don't have access to a gym with olympic lifting items - would you like to see a OAHS instead?
/r/MarriedRedPill09/10/19 11:33 PM

why don't you dead or squat Real reason - because I use my workplace gym after work (a 30 minute workout takes 30 minutes, not 30+transit+prep=60 minutes). I value the 90 minutes/week more than I value the addition of the specific exercises (squat/dead are really the only ones missing, and they have a leg press machine). Notably, I can do single legged squats. Generally, I feel like this is "strong enough" in the lower body. I just did 5x SLS to verify - no problem. It is strong enough to do rel…

Kinda agreeing with /u/tom-anonymous here on calling bullshit. My Leg Press (I don't dead/squat, sue me) is 430 at BW 155, which is the machine maximum. Technically, this is probably a squat of (430-155)=275/155=1.57x bodyweight. So I probably barely scrape by according to these qualifications. That said - I'm 11% bf according to most estimates. I'm also, like, pretty strong, considering that I can pull off a set of planches and a stadler press handstand. I think I'm going to be able to hit my f…

Lifting is one of the few activities where there really is no failure - everyone out running is lapping everyone on the couch. 2 - Winning builds confidence. Interestingly, as part of this study, the women are startlingly accurate at predicting true strength from appearance. It would appear that "perceived strength" is more-or-less irrelevant when compared with actual strength.

I'm 160ish pounds. Athletic. My general diet is: One meal a day - 2-3 coffee in morning. Meal - 3-egg omelette (6oz meat, 4oz cheese, an onion) - 1165 calories - 62g protein Throughout day - 5 mostly-water protein shakes (500 calories, 90g protein) There is some reason to believe that protein does not digest like normal food (excess protein appears to be flushed). I took creatine regularly for a while (it is widely regarded as both safe and effective). My general takeaway was that it put extra blood in the muscles. Putting extra blood in the muscles has a few effects: 1 - you need to increase water intake (blood is mostly water) 2 - retained more water weight (on the order of 2 pounds / 32oz) 3 - generally more 'muscled' look (blood in muscles) 4 - generally quicker recovery time (5-10% faster) 5 - general performance increase (10% better - ~1 rep) 6 - 3i…

I see a lot of the Extreme Ownership as less of "whose fault is it?" and more of "and what are YOU going to do about it?". Bomb fell on your house? Extreme Ownership! I must have built my house on the wrong place - I'm going to move to a safer area. I don't know why they didn't simply report controlled percentages. I'm sure that they had a good reason that I missed, but I would have been very interested in things like "what percentage of non-dating-app users take protein supplements? Steroids?", and those stats seem impossible to glean from the article. Edit: you are right! You can get those types of numbers (uncontrolled) from Table 1. As an example, this indicates that, among the males in the survey, (76+16)/(76+16+133+403) = 14.6% of t…

I read the actual study (and recommend it!), and they break it out by category. If I'm reading the results correctly, it is indicating that men that are using dating apps are 14x more likely to use diet pills and anabolic steroids, and 10x more likely to use laxatives... The "muscle building supplement use" was not significant at the 95% level (but appears that it probably is at the 90% level). Response options were “never, less than once a month, 1-3 times a month, once a week, more than once a week.” Creatine use and self-induced vomiting don't belong in the same…

Wow - some gold here. He mentions that the curves align more closely depending on the property - that on Tinder there is a huge difference, but that difference is lower on OKC and even lower on match.com. This suggests that the, ahem, looser women are more picky (for the night), but those seeking long-term pairings are less selective on looks. That tells a totally different story - loose women being picky and loose men not, while pair-bond-seeking women being less picky about looks (men still no…

5'9". Dunno (8? I'll send you a PM). Married twice, currently married. I was always looking for a good relationship (not a quick lay), and was reasonably able to find them. I did the online dating thing for a bit (this is before Tinder) and could arrange about ~3 dates/week if I put effort in it. This is the right question! You shouldn't be asking why "the top 20%" get everything, but how you should be "top 20%" ! This is the best strategy. So let's answer it, because I'm interested and none of the other yahoos in this thread did. Let's assume that your age bracket is in the 25-35 range (mate seeking range), where practical. Height is 5'9", because that's average. Weight/BMI/Bodyfat - should be in "low end normal" - right around 22 (150-160 pounds) - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/ar…

Its especially funny because it is all in your head. I'm pretty fit and I lift pretty heavy nowadays (full stack - most machines at gym; currently training one arm handstands, Iron Cross, weight leg lifts to failure, etc.). At the end of the day - he was satisfied with a job well done, the household was managed, and he was fucked by his wife... I'm curious - what outcomes are you looking for? Do you live in some sort of fantasy world where there are no oil changes, checking account balances, dishes, and tree trimming? Do you not want sexual rewards? Do you like a messy house? Do you expect the woman to do everything and then fuck you?
/r/MarriedRedPill21/03/19 01:06 AM

OMG YES. This reward is relatively huge, and culturally invariant. The authors note that mate choice is for other factors, of course (facial attractiveness, social ability, money, etc.), but it is really neat to see the raw numbers. Elsewhere in this thread, I ran the numbers on exactly how much you need to lose/gain. Notably - losing 2 BMI points is mathematically equivalent to getting stronger than 15% of the competition (in perceived attractiveness).
/r/TheRedPill17/02/19 12:45 PM
1

Exact followup - getting strong than an additional 15% of the general population is worth "1 point". I am 5'9", 160, gymnast. Gaining 16-23 pounds bumps my BMI up 3 points. You can think of 20 pounds vs. "stronger than additional 15% of population" as roughly equivalent in attractiveness. As such, putting on 10 pounds makes you more attractive if you get stronger; no surprise here, but the numbers work out mathematically.
/r/TheRedPill17/02/19 12:40 PM

Two answers here: 1 - BMI is pretty lousy. Look at its history - It was essentially created as a Wild Ass Guess (WAG) for military/population fitness. In the specific - it is uncorrelated with strength, size, fitness, body fat percentage, or anything else. In the general - all the "18" BMI people can probably safely be considered "fit for boot camp". 2 - As part of (1), lower BMI is better (see the supplementary analysis - higher BMI, on the whole, is bad for attractiveness). There was a reason …

From the study: Frederick & Haselton [13] have argued there may be a curvilinear relationship between strength and attractiveness such that extremely strong men may be less attractive than moderately strong men. The scatterplots in figure 2 how no evidence of this, but a more formal test was run using two functional forms: [...] We found no evidence of the inverted-U hypothesis; rather, in both samples, the strongest men were the most attractive, and the weakest men were the least attractive. Unless, of course, you anonymously ask for the opinion of lots of people, and they all correlate at the 0.1% chance level. Why I agree, in principle, that "opinion has nothing to do with truth", when literally all of the opinions are the same, and the truth is a subjective measure, you really do have to give it some thought.
/r/TheRedPill17/02/19 09:54 AM
3

Because a bunch of people in this thread seem to think that "oh, body-builder types with 'too much muscle' are unattractive." That theory was explicitly tested in this study, and its wrong.
/r/TheRedPill17/02/19 09:52 AM
2

Daily Double! Supplementary analysis with BMI. Answer: 1 point higher BMI drops you significantly. 1 point of strength* gets you a 0.8193 gain. 1 point of BMI** gets you a .2983 loss. Huh***. *Strength is measured relative to the others, on a 1-7 scale. Perceived shirtless strength may as well be real strength for all intents and purposes. Generally, 1 point of strength is a lot. **BMI is an absolute measure. ***The data seem to indicate that "yes, it is literally as simple as adding these up"
/r/TheRedPill17/02/19 09:50 AM
3

Feel free to disagree, of course. However, in the actual article, actual strength and perceived strength are highly correlated (r=0.8, p=.0001). Further, perceived strength and perceived attractiveness are also highly correlated (0.85, p=.0001). There were no exceptions to the theory that "women stronger men are more attractive" in the study. There is a 0.1% chance that this is not true on the individual level. Further, women apparently guess actual strength from perceived strength reliably.

This. The whole phrase needs to just die. Does anyone want toxic masculinity/femininity? No? Okay, then I'm just going to label every behavior I don't like as toxic! Oh, wait? Too openly hateful? Okay, let's switch to nebulous terms like "aggression" and "suppressing emotion" - then whenever someone wants something and tries to get it I can label it as "aggressive"/"toxic". I agree with these points, but think that there is probably an element of "traditional academia" at work here.
