I understand why people still think these gender stereotypes, but it's a flawed logic. I am a man, I am often unfortunately described as feminine, I often bake. (I don't take offence to it) However, anything and everything I do is masculine. If a man bakes a cake for his friends, it is a kind gesture. A kind, masculine gesture. It doesn't matter if prejudice and stereotypes associate that with a 1920's housewife. He is still a man. It is still masculine. The problem with posts like OP linked is …

I worked for 6 years on a contract for the Child Maintenance Service in the UK doing paternity tests, as well as a myriad of other paternity testing. I can tell you for certain that when child maintenance is involved, 98-99% of the tests came back positive "He is the father". A lot of that was due diligence by CMS having a caseworker talk to the mothers figuring out who to request the test off (alleged father) and the financial incentive [for the mother] to get it right. When we did home testing…

I can shed some light. I worked for a forensic company for 6 years. The legal tests are done under medical supervision and require a passport photograph (at minimum) and/or ID be presented. The certification and final product are suitable for legal matters such as child maintenance, immigration, court hearings, and birth certificate changes. The at-home tests are identical in testing but don't verify identity, and sadly, can't be used for legal matters.

I feel like a lot of these comments are quite knee-jerk, no shit's given about you and your relationship, OP. The general idea is buried in a bad tone. You should have an honest conversation with your GF about what both of you want and why. If you're having anxieties about bringing children in to this world, discuss that with her. If you're anxious about your parental rights, discuss that with her. Maybe she's having concerns about her fertility and wants you to put in as much insurance as she i…

It's illegal in the UK to charge different rates on gender, but I wonder where they're based to allow this crap

I'm glad you stood up and said something, moral integrity is a tough quality to uphold and voice. Good parity argument too 👍

I felt it was important to iterate men and women both have the capacity to cheat, and in hijacking your comment saying "I've only seen men cheat" (which, I have only seen).

Ehh... I think your personal experience is exactly that. I'm the opposite from my experience (I'm a man).

I'm not trying to out a downer on the Green Party, I'm more looking for your thoughts. Is this good for equality and our government in general, or is this diversity hiring for the sake of ticking a social feminism box? Snippet from their website: Enabling diversity across politics: In a dazzlingly diverse country like ours, politicians shouldn’t all look the same. We want to break open the barriers that stop our politics from more accurately reflecting the society we live in. We will make it eas…

Edit: I am not angry! I am now informed! Old post below. I'm so angry! "Pay gap" increases, inequality increases, gendered stereotypes more prominently encouraged... But I guess if you're happy being the breadwinner in a traditional nuclear family your collective household gets 3 months less stress? Yay. :| Could've just given men & women both 12 months, made them fill in a form to denote who's the primary carer, bish bash bosh: equality.

We can push men's rights without being incendiary, why stoop? "Women haven't done anything to further the success of humankind"-esque comments aren't needed in my opinion. I'd love it if men got praised for the great things we do! I just worry this sub can forget why we're here and it can devolve into women bashing, and that gives us a bad reputation. But hey ho, that's my feeling, and I'm happy to learn and take criticism.

I think it's a great thing, I'm happy that we might be perceived as capable fathers! I'd rather be the woman sat on the bench with the baby to be honest, sod being an astronaut. I wanna be a stay-at-home dad! :D

That sub is revolting. I wanna say thanks for letting me know it's out there, but bloody hell they're toxic individuals and it's just made me upset. -_-

Wait... Wasn't there a study posted on Reddit recently that basically said: "Men won't help women because they're scared of sexual assault charges" men are statistically more likely to receive aid? I'll find the link if I can!

This was my initial thought, honestly. I was hoping to read a clear cut: 'If they are proven not guilty, does the evidence show a false accusation? If so, a case should be raised to punish the false claim.' It reads like: 'Not guilty, she pays his legal fees' And that doesn't seem right.

https://www.childwelfare.gov/pubPDFs/single_parent.pdf "Nationally, approximately one-quarter of children and youth, or about 22 million, are growing up in single-parent households. In 2011, nearly one-third of adoptions from foster care were completed by unmarried people. This included adoptions by 1,400 single men and more than 13,000 single women. Several research studies have shown that adopted children raised by single parents experience outcomes that are as good as, if not better than, tho…
