After posting about my abuse on /r/ukpolitics, a popular IG page made a commentary thread on it. I thought I'd share their takeThanks a lot! I don't particularly care what this person thinks of me. "I'll read all of his post" quickly turned out to be untrue, but I also don't really care what the people who voted "yes" to the poll said. Obviously to anyone who read my full post (which they didn't post until after the poll!) I wasn't trying to detract from the horrific murder of Sarah in any way But they were certainly trying to take the story of my abuse and make it all about them! | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/03/21 07:59 PM
After posting about my abuse on /r/ukpolitics, a popular IG page made a commentary thread on it. I thought I'd share their takeThanks for your kind words here. You're right, I didn't want anyone to put themselves in harms way for me at all, but it made me wonder why the same friends expect me to put myself in harms way when I see abuse, when they weren't willing to even speak to my abuser when I directly asked them for help and advice. Also thanks to /u/psilorder for transcribing - it was hard for me to take clear screenshots of their 30 (!!) posts about me | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/03/21 07:57 PM
After posting about my abuse on /r/ukpolitics, a popular IG page made a commentary thread on it. I thought I'd share their takeThanks everyone for your kind words. I didn't feel too hurt by it anyway as they clearly had no intention besides twisting what I said. The account has gone private now and I don't really want to follow it so I don't know what they've posted since. Also, for what it's worth, I do agree with a lot of what the #AllWomen campaign has been about. People should do something if they see abuse or harassment. I think people should speak to their friends if they think their friends are involved in abus… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/03/21 07:56 PM

After posting about my abuse on /r/ukpolitics, a popular IG page made a commentary thread on it. I thought I'd share their takeIf what I posted was at least fairly represented I wouldn't have minded But I definitely wasn't saying that I demanded my friends step in and stop my abuser. I just wish they hadn't made excuses for her | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/03/21 12:16 PM

After posting about my abuse on /r/ukpolitics, a popular IG page made a commentary thread on it. I thought I'd share their takeThanks, salty.biitch, after reading your commentary I actually realised that the whole situation was made up, and now my trauma is cured! Interesting how "I'll read his whole comment" turns into "I'll run a poll after the first 3 lines" A few things: - She wasn't a generally violent person, only to me. Not that it's relevant though because their argument that I "demanded" my friends "confront" her is a complete strawman. I didn't even ask them to, I only now make the observation that they didn… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/03/21 11:50 AM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthAt least, she's your ex, and not your current! Too true. I'm very proud of coming out of the situation alive For a few weeks I expected myself to die at her hands | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/21 01:39 AM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthI'm done with a fair few people after this. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/21 01:38 AM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthThis is what I was scared of. Not of everyone hearing me genuinely and disagreeing with me, but with me telling the "wrong person" too soon, and having them spread outrage about me before my truer friends had a chance to listen to me | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/21 01:38 AM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthI spoke to some of them. It was really tough, but I asked them to please listen to me finish everything I had to say before they made any judgements. They listened to me and understood me. They understood why I'm hurt by seeing people who I directly asked for help, only to be ignored, then post about how we are collectively responsible for this. It took them a small while to realise actually I wasn't a woman-hater, nor trying to downplay women's issues, but just a genuine person, the same person… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/21 01:31 AM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthI thought I'd post an update here. I'm quite drunk, but eh. I met up with a few male friends. Not people I'd spoken to while I was being abused. And I told them how it made them feel. They were somewhat "But it's really important that women are shown how we care" but also they genuinely listened to me. I saw them thinking. I saw the cogs turning when I told them what had happened to me. In the past I'd always felt more comfortable talking to women about the abuse I suffered at the hands of a wom… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/03/21 01:29 AM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthYes, a lot of them are my friends, they're my friends who for many years have been very very aware of how the media stokes up fear against Muslims, black people, Gypsies, trans people, and now are more than happy to take every single news article at complete face value and as evidence that if they step outside they will be instantly killed to death 100% of the time | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 13/03/21 02:59 PM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthThank you for the advice I appreciate it a lot. The problem is I live alone, can't really see many people because of COVID, and now the only ways I could have regular contact with people is flooded by people accusing me of being complicit in abuse because I'm a man To be honest men's rights content helps somewhat because it makes me see that it isn't everyone. but it feels like it | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 13/03/21 02:56 PM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthI'm really really struggling. I just want to feel safe to talk to my friends and explain how it makes me feel to see them blaming me for "allowing abuse" by having a dick, when they were more than happy to allow me to get abused by a woman | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 13/03/21 02:55 PM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthI don't care about losing most of them, but there are some who are genuinely supportive, and I worry about losing those people in the (imo inevitable) outrage that would happen if I dared to speak about how a woman abused me during International Woman's Day Week Month | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 13/03/21 02:54 PM
The UK social media "all men are responsible" frenzy has really fucked with my mental healthAs much as I'd like to I'm pretty sure I'd just be "taking away from women's issues" lol I couldn't take losing the rest of my friends from the outrage that would ensue | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 13/03/21 01:44 PM
