Step 1: Steal all the Grilled Chicken MRE's so you keep your protein up. (Also spend you own money on protein like a normal human) Step 2. Sleep whenever the fuck you can. Standing in line, sitting down, in the back of C-130, on a blackhawk, while walking on patrol ;) Step 3. Lift in your free time. Step 4-5. ?????? Step 6. Gainz.

I went into the Army for two reasons and two reasons only: I wanted to get paid to jump out of planes and fuck shit up. Mission Accomplished. (Queen of Fucking Battle!) Is the military BP. Uh, yeah. Are some the guys I served with BP. Yep. Does that make everyone in there BP? Nope.

Do you spend time creating some sort of sexual tension with her? You should be touching, teasing, and talking to her in a sexually playful manner all the time. I have a feeling that this does not come natural to you as most guys think women don't want to hear sexual innuendo or they worry about what she'll think if they grab her ass, make a dirty comment and then walk away. But the point of these behaviors is to create drama (feels) and sexual tension that you will later use to have cave man sex…

I do mention stretching in number 7. But I think for a lot of people that is something to add in once you get started and are being consistent with nutrition and lifting. However... if you want to start stretching, and you should, I highly recommend the Agile 8 warm-up. https://www.t-nation.com/training/defranco-agile-8 Do this every day before you lift, even rest days, and you will see mobility and flexibility improve along with your lifting.

In my case... I had cut carbs down really low and moved my protein levels way up. I was having issues w/ getting enough fiber without going over my carb targets, even eating a lot of veggies. I'm 6'5" and working on getting back down to the 235-245 range, so I need a lot of protein. This caused me to get a bit backed up and eventually I got hemorrhoids. It sucked... big time. I freaked for a min cause I was like, "what the hell is this thing on my ahole?" Anyway, long story short, fiber has help…

At the very top of the post I say this is aimed more at, what I assume are the majority of MRPers, guys who need to lose weight. Not skinny teens trying to gain it. As to your statement that some diets don't require you to count calories at all... wtf? I don't give a shit if you're paleo, keto, or whatever. If you put 3000 kcals in your system a day, no matter what the macro breakdown is, and have a TDEE of 2200, guess what will happen? Bueller? Bueller? That's right you will gain weight. Do ket…

Yes, you need to track your calories (see section 2). But if you let that get in the way of life. Chance are you may get discouraged and give up when you fail and eat that drive thru meal or go through a holiday weekend eating like a pig. Because this will happen. I guaranteed it. The point of that particular section isn't to say don't track them... it's to say don't freak out when you screw it up. Because you will screw it up. Often.

Unless you have chronic injuries or other major health conditions, barbell training will be good for you. Absolutely. Going to the doc is a must if you have health conditions. But it is also good to go even off you don't and you're just fat before you start and get a full blood workup done so you have a baseline for checking your progress against.

Jesus dude. Thats a lot of issues. Just a question... how do you feel your form was on your lifts? Not saying that was the problem, but I'm curious. A lot of the issues I've seen guys have results from bad form. Either way, glad you found something that works for you. And I guess if you are older (although I don't think late 30's is that old) it's probably harder to put the body under the stress barbell lifts require when you haven't done stuff like that before.

I think once you get to about 225lb Squat, 300lb DL, and 185lb Bench it's probably a good idea to switch to an intermediate program like Madcow or something else. Pushing out heavy weights in sets of 5x5, or even 3x5 becomes a major problem. Thats why intermediate programs like Madcow and Wendler's 5/3/1 have you progressive lift your sets up to the heavy weight for the final set. It allows you to still progress with some regularity and keep riding the noob gainz, but it keeps you from literally…

I think in general you are right. But there are some things that fall into the realm of "supplementation" that aren't bogus bro-science. I think the following would fall into supplementation and are all backed with pretty strong solid science. For most people a good multi-vitamin is a good idea. Fish oil is helpful for making sure you are getting essential fatty acids. Vitamin D is incredibly helpful if you work a desk job or live in northern latitudes. Whey protein powders make hitting your mac…

This will be an echo chamber of everything else you've read here, but I feel the need to type this out. #1 Go see a Dr. This is your first step since you have a somewhat sketchy health history. Talk to him about a barbell lifting program and what effects lifting heavy will have on your strokes, etc. Have him do a full blood workup too. T levels, vitamins, cholesterol , the whole shebang. IF nothing else these tests will show you were you started and a year from now you can have them redone to se…

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, and—in spite of True Romance magazines—we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely—at least, not all the time—but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.” - Hunter S. Thompson Humorous Sidenote: After I posted …

It all depends on your frame. Did you buy the tickets because you didn't want to upset her and tell her no? Do you fell like you should have said no? If you feel like you should have said no, then yes you failed. She will sense that you only did it because she bitched. Here is the way to think about it. She is not an equal in your house. She is a semi responsible teenager. If you would have no problem telling a teen "No" because you don't care whether they like it or not, then you should have no…

N.O. At least not with your money. If she earns then she can pay for them and you can be supportive. But if it is coming out of money that is "family" money then hell no. My wife and I had this conversation recently and frankly I felt like a bit of a jerk for telling her she should go get the consult and then telling her later that she can get the work done, but I'm not going to be paying for it. I just can't think of scenario (other then cancer) where I would pay for cosmetic surgery for any wo…

Yeah I did. I'm just commenting on what my diet looks like. I agree with your statement that not all calories are equal. In theory (generally speaking) they are, but in practice a body needs different types of calories depending on your goals. That is why you eat towards a goal (bulking, weight loss, whatever), meaning getting your macros right and then tailoring it from there. Dieting (calorie counting) doesn't work.

I'm not saying everything about IIFYM is perfect but the idea is solid. Depending on your goals, figure out your total calorie needs, then figure out the best breakdown of macros to help that. For me that means like 50% proteins, 30% carbs, and 20% fat. The carbs I do eat are not processed shit. The are leafy greens, fruits, and some sort of whole grain post lift. I'm losing weight (on a deficit) and building strength. While generally speaking a calorie is a calorie, you should be eating towards…

Nietzsche is dark and nihilistic... a lot of existentialism is. I don't get sucked into the "there is no point to life" of it all. I decided that I was not going to be one of those people. The purpose of existentialism is that you get to choose your own purpose. Is it going to matter in the end? Nope. So make sure you're happy with it. (Kind of a bit of hedonism mixed with existentialism) As to your note about the bible... read it cover to cover, many a time. I fully understand it and can point …

Embracing the MRP mindset has actually changed how I look at Jesus. I see all His alpha qualities. He spoke his mind without fear and didn't let people verbally trap him. He was a man of action and did as he pleased. He never entered any other person's frame. I'm an atheist so I don't buy into the Jesus mythology, but as a story he is a a great example of a IDGAF attitude. He knew what his purpose was and went out to do it without concern for what others thought. He was an example of Nietzsche's…

I fucking love that Tim Kennedy quote, "Train with the motivation and purpose that you will be the hardest person someone ever tries to kill."

In the military we called this violence of action. In most fights the winner is the one with the best training, but violence of action will win the day in almost all cases where the ability levels are similar. It will even make up for a perceived deficit in size or strength. When faced with a choice act quickly and with all of the force you can generate.

Honestly half the comments here are just chest pounding about how men don't even respond to crap like this. Whatever, right. If we, men, don't speak out loudly and respond to bs then we risk a further declination in the overall manliness of society. That why it's important that guys like you, and mine Rowe, speak out when shit like this it's behind broadcast. If doing so opens one guys eyes then it's worth it. Keep fighting the good fight.

While I did type the word then, instead of than (which I did notice, but can't edit), only a moron would read it the way you are explaining. The use of the word rather makes a delineating point in the sentence that prevents it from having the meaning you are trying to assign it. Yes, there is a typo. No, it does not make the sentence read the way you are trying to make it. You are not contributing anything to the conversation. Seems right about par for the course based on your comment history.

I'm not going to waste my time teaching third grade english. Since you want to be stupid about it, I'll be glad to point out your lack of capitalization of the word English, whilst you are in the process of criticizing me.

I think the two go together. When I can accomplish a task at work by working smarter and not harder I do. But when I have to work harder to get something done it is not a foreign concept because I've intentionally put myself through adversity.

How is that? And as a side note, I have a rather solid understanding of the English language and the usage thereof.

It's about little things you do to make yourself work harder. Obviously you don't face a major hurdle in doing that, but it forces you to do something you'd rather not do.
