Bingo. I totally appreciate men who can prioritize fighting their problems over someone else's. But where I spend effort aside, I can have an opinion about one thing without it affecting my opinion about the other thing. Two things can both be bad.

Make women draft-eligible Or just get rid of the draft. Personally I think that would be better, and still equal.

Most pro-life people are women, and women make the majority of the electorate. Therefore, if abortion is banned in any given state, it is because the majority of women oppose it. That really doesn't follow. Women vote a slightly higher rates than men. Like 63% versus 59% of eligibility. It is entirely possible for a majority of men and a minority of women to form the majority of the population.

While I have some sympathy to those saying "Women never supported my right to choose, I'm not going to support their right to choose" I'd encourage you to take the long view. This further legitimizes the idea that parenthood is not something you get to opt-out of unless the state says its ok. In no way will this make it easier for men. This isn't a win for men. It's not a win for anyone, except those who believe a fetus is on par with a human and that it is ethical to ask a woman to carry a fetu…

One of the family law lawyers I work with has figured out you can get a much higher success rate at getting women to sign a prenup by painting a picture of the guy laid off and the woman liable. Suddenly we go from "don't you trust me?" to "well I guess we should both be protected"

I was thinking about this last night and a lot would need to change. Daniel Craig's James Bond is in this interesting place where he can sleep with near every woman he wants, but he's deeply wounded by the lack of a specific woman. It's an interesting way to take a character, because men usually aren't in a position to get sex whenever they want. This dynamic doesn't work with a female James Bond, of course. Her ability to get laid doesn't translate to some impressive ability -- its just being a…

That's not exactly what I'm saying. Just that a millionaire, even one of slobby looks, can easily get tired of the same girl. Looks can trump money all the time, at least based on the divorces I've seen. Looks can't trump boredom, though.

I read AWALT the same way I read the expression "Every gun is loaded." Literally true? No. But you wouldn't point a gun at yourself and pull the trigger, trusting that it is unloaded. Thus you should never point a woman at your wallet and trust that she's fine. You might be dating someone who isn't "like that" but how can you tell? Short of the most rigorous verification, you should handle with care. A gun in your hands can't hurt you if you don't let it.

Only ugly women and docile thin wrist men buy into the leftist propaganda. I live in SJW-central San Francisco, and this simply isn't true. There's plenty of attractive people of both genders who buy into the leftist propaganda right up until the moment it negatively impacts them. "There is always better" would be a great slogan for a divorce firm. Seriously though, as a general rule of life, don't sign an agreement where you pay the penalty if someone else breaks the contract, particularly if the penalty is unknown or too steep. Marriage not only exposes you to the potential to pay a lot of your stuff if you get divorced right now, it also exposes you to the potential of some future, hypothetical penalty enacted by politicians not yet elected. How do you make a human funny? You just need the ability to say the right thing at the right time. How do humans learn to do that? Good question. How do humans learn to do anything except via practice. The thing that makes generalized AI so fascinating is that it can learn to do things via training and feedback instead of having a person plan out the way it responds to everything. So much of what we do is learned that way. The latest chess and go playing AIs did not learn to play because a human…

Yes, this is the real danger sexbots pose to women. While AI might one day replace every human being by being smart, clever, funny and creative, it also seems likely it might just just be good enough -- a form physically close enough to be a real turn on, and intelligent enough to fuck. The latter won't replace the most clever and intelligent women who men would want for lifelong partners and co-parents, but it will replace vapid but attractive women who want dinner and drinks for the maybe prom…

A lot of the skills you learn are related to critical thinking and examining information which makes you a lot brighter in day to day life no matter your field. I hear that a lot, but there's a sort of "lawyer think" which I've noticed that seems to be of a form "if you can't prove it its not real". It's a useful sort of critical thinking sometimes, but I've seen it backfire in certain situations. I do not work anywhere near a top tier firm though. I could charitably describe the place I work as…

So men have further to go than women did over the past 100 years. We do have the right to vote, for example. I would consider men equal to women when the following is true: Men are not presumed to be the primary breadwinner and are not socially pressured to be the primary wage earner. Men are not assumed to be at fault in any sexual encounter, no matter what the stats are of crime committed, they actually get protection under the law. Boys falling behind in early childhood education is taken as …

It's always to protect the womenfolk. In this case, his wife has a daughter from a previous marriage, and I'm going to guess she complained about not being able to collect back child support. But I don't know, and the articles about their life are not easy for me to access. Men who get screwed over by child support laws end up too poor to run for office, and that's why we have the system we have.

One of the main issues with child support is the Bradley amendment. Some men were able to rack up massive debts in back child support, then found a sympathetic judge to reduce their debts on the basis of "Can't pay it." Thus, the federal government stepped in and said "ok, once child support is assessed, it must be paid. You cannot bankrupt out of it, you cannot not pay it, no state can revert it." It's a giant fuckup of a law, where people who have been wrongfully convicted of murder got out of…

That would be a great idea if the headline wasn't to stop putting women in prison for anything, which, as I read it, would include violent crimes. Maybe the author is so blind as to think women don't commit violent crimes, but if so she could suggest non-violent people don't go to prison and have a stronger case that isn't sexist on the face of it.

I don't know if its exactly half, but its close. Source from Canada's fairly liberal CBC to offset bias accusations. You gotta remember that DV is not just left bruised and battered. DV can include emotional and psychological abuse, stalking, threats to harm property, etc. If you think women can't do that as well as men, you should work in the divorce industry for a while. In my experience when it comes to indirect shit like that, they can be worse, since they've not often had to experience cons…

Your statement is true, at least at this moment. It's also a non-sequitur to my original point. From two posts ago I repeat "if you try to conflate harassment and assault." Emphasis on the "if" and what might change over time. I am saying "I am concerned if these things are conflated" and you are saying "but they are different." That's missing the point. Every time I hear "Freedom of speech" on reddit, I have to clarify. You mean your American 1st amendment rights, yes? Because free speech is also a concept. Anyway, the 1A rights are shaky. It does not cover threatening language. It does not cover blackmail, extortion, etc. The government can absolutely smack you down for assault, and if saying "nice tits" is de-facto assault, bam. Not minor if you are paying alimony. Could be the most significant change that personally affects you, if 30 percent or more of your expenses stopped being an above the line deduction. If there is no hierarchy of abuse, I guarantee what will happen is people will stop giving a shit. "She got raped? Well I got cat-called and no one gave a shit, why should I care about her?" His ex thinks she's gonna make harassment more serious, but she's actually going to make assault less serious, in the eye of everyone except the courts, and I never thought I'd be looking to the legislation as the voice of reason and sanity on this topic.

There's another thing I fear, and that's the logical end result of treating all crimes the same. Matt Damon got lambasted because he dared say that there's a continuum of behavior and patting someone on the butt isn't assault. What women are trying to do is make harassment matter too, it's not "just" harassment, it's bad. Ok. Fine. But if you try to conflate harassment and assault, what will happen is that when a women claims assault people will go "what, someone told her nice tits?" I want a wo…

You're confusing the vows with the marriage. The wedding vows? Until death do us part? That's the illusory promise. The part where the courts get to say "in accordance with the way we've decided to handle these things in this state, the obligations you agreed to when you got married are thus" is a contract. You can call it an illusory promise if you want, but as far as the judge is concerned it's very real. I don't call it a contract because it's a binding agreement to stay together. I call it a…

I can add more specific info. Depending on your state, assets pre-marriage might be protected even without a prenup. Illinois only lets a spouse claim assets made during the marriage. California is an instant 50% property state. You can designate assets as yours and yours alone even in a state like California, but as a rule of thumb, your prenup needs the following. There's a difference, in liberal land, between sex and gender. Sex is the parts you have, and gender is the role you play. So by that logic if a person with a penis dresses up like a woman, and acts like a woman, that person should be considered a woman. This of course falls apart because while some of our gendered behavior is arbitrary (there's no particular reason for women to be in pink and men in blue for example) a lot of the behavior comes from biology. This isn't an argument against what you're saying, but money does help in one very specific way: it brings stability. Men who "have their shit together" are more attractive than men who don't. If you get a flat tire, can you handle the situation end to end? That means both the ability change for the spare, and the ability to buy new tires without freaking out about the cost? That is because you imagine "the woman should be believed" as the primary rule. It's actually "the man is guilty" as the primary rule. Back in the day, a black woman got a law degree, you went "Damn lady, way to rise above expectations." Among the people who actually were not racist or sexist, there was an assumption she worked hard. Now? Those same people get really skeptical. I've seen more than one coded exchange that we should prioritize people who got into school on merit and hard w…

Unfortunately "she said" with no other evidence is enough to convict. People still rely on testimony as if it was truthful.

You're right, but you said you see scenarios where either it's all true, or its not true. I don't think we'll ever get to the point where it's 100% believed or disbelieved. Those who believe first and ask questions never have already made up their minds. Those who think a man should be innocent until proven guilty will never be given proof of guilt.

Neither of those outcomes seems likely, because neither side can prove it. It happened ages ago while they were dating. She says she did it. She has no proof. He says he didn't do it. He has no proof. Some women stop buying his porn and his whole pro-consent brand is damaged irredeemably. Other people don't give a shit. I would bet even dollars there won't even be a police report filed, and steep odds against a conviction. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I like how your response to someone making calls to violence is dream about the day when you finally get to murder them. Do all socialists spunk themselves to the thought of violently murdering those with whom they disagree, or is it just the ones who comment on reddit?

Well, yes. That's exactly what this petition is about, a man wishing to not be the child's parent, with no rights or obligations.

I love how she says "he's ugly, old, and disgusting" as if that explains everything. Ugly old people don't deserve basic human rights, don't you know? The age of consent in New York is 17, which may at least partially explain why Aronson isn't facing any charges. Yes. "Partially." The fact that he committed no crime at least partially explains why he isn't facing any charges. Because it's such a mystery why he's not being charged, being an old man on an alternative dating website and all.

I watched the video, finally, to see the fuss that everyone is talking about. Before they get in the elevator, she swats him across the face. He completely ignores it. In the elevator, she hits him first, he hits back exactly once and then backs the fuck up. He opens as much physical distance between them as he can. She comes at him, raising a fist, and he hits her a final time. She hits the railing on the way down and is knocked out. The moment she is down, he nudges her, then drags her out. He…
