I feel like the takeaway I got from this article is different than the one you did. So, she makes lot of points that do seem dubious to me. But I'm also not part of a gym / don't really know gym culture, so I don't know how I feel about this. (I'm also a little confused as to how these 13 / 14 year olds are getting to the gym and having the money to buy all of this shit being shlepped at them without parental supervision? So the age limit thing seems wishy-washy at best.) Near the end though, sh…

I'm not saying he has very few masculine traits at all. Yes, final decisions are mine, yes, I plan the events. Yes, he generally keeps care for his physical health. If there was a natural disaster, we have different skill sets for how it would be handled. He was a boy scout, so he knows more of the "how to survive with little to nothing" than I do, so for that I would defer to him. However, he has a terrible sense of direction / inner map, whereas mine is fantastic- I'd be the one who'd know how…

It's not so much that I don't exist, I'm just such a minority that my existence is no worth accommodating. TRP deals / relies on broad statements. Many people's personal philosophies do to some extent. The 'issue' with TRP is the language they use to make those statements. It's very abrasive and absolute. But, in my opinion, that sort of language is to be expected with their philosophy.

Hi. Alpha woman here who has had discussions about it with TRPers before. They're not really assholes about it, but they don't exactly get it either. Most discussions have ended in an agree to disagree state. As you have seen in other comments, generally part of the problem is their idea that no woman is happy with a man with a lower 'value' than them. The thing is though, I am perfectly happy with my 'lower value' boyfriend, who will someday be my househusband / stay at home dad if everything w…

I'm inclined to agree. I'm not sure it's so much a groupthink thing though as an abuse of the down vote button. People on reddit in general forget that down vote =/= disagree, down votes should mean not contributing. Since there are more BPers than RPers, voting like that will put the comments in negatives. Which sucks because I had a really good discussion with an RPer and he got downvoted and I didn't. People seem to forget this is an area for discussion and that disagreements are a good thing…

I agree that it really is just a difference of perspective that's causing this. I don't feel attacked, I just feel we've reached 'agree to disagree' grounds. So thank you for the discussion. It was interesting. :)

So are you or are you not trying to impose rules? I'm a little confused now how 'after working bonding is not bonding' isn't you trying to impose a rule on me based on something that you yourself said is a pseudoscience that you are skeptical of. One way or another, at the end of the day, whether or not you are imposing rules on me doesn't matter. All I'm trying to do right now is show you my lens on life and how I see and react to TRP because of it. I've enjoyed engaging you, but I feel we are …

I agree on my child not being raised by a nanny. Having someone willing to be a stay at home dad is important to me. The mother infant bonding is much more powerful and important to the development of the child. But just because I'm not a stay at home mom doesn't mean I can't bond with my child. And I don't consider my boyfriend to be less productive than me, we just have different ways of being productive and we approach our productivity differently because we're different people and we work di…

I am pretty sure that I don't want to be a stay at home mom right now. It's far enough off in the future though, that I cannot 100% say no, I absolutely do not want to be a stay at home mom. Personally, I don't think I would make a good stay at home mom. I also think my SO would make a fantastic stay at home dad and that's what he wants. I don't see the point in having two stay at home parents. As for that being financially possible- it's not impossible, but it's something I would have to decide…

No, I don't think women like me are that uncommon. But there's always the possibility that I am biased in that statement because I choose who to surround myself with and I am likely subconsciously seeking out those who are like me. I wouldn't say that we're the norm, no, but I don't think we're so rare that we should be ignored. Perhaps this falls into a similar category as your LGBT comment. And I do think TRP does have some merit. Not everything is totally wrong. The basic idea when it boils d…

My main issue with TRP is incredibly self-centered, and I realize that. I am an intelligent, successful (thus far / by my terms and expectations of myself for this point in my life) woman. And I'm the 'alpha' of my relationship. I don't dread game, I don't do any of that shit- but it doesn't change the fact that between my boyfriend's personality and my personality, I am the commander, I am the one who takes control, I am the one who manages the finances, I am the breadwinner, etc. He's the seco…

Sure you could. Go talk to a professor. If part of your complaint is that women aren't held accountable for their actions, hold them accountable! Sure, maybe you're only one person, but that's how it starts, right? I get that RP is supposed to be focused on improving the self, but that shouldn't stop you from incurring the change you want to see. Maybe I'm idealistic, I don't know, but it legitimately pisses me off that you're gonna bitch that all women get away with shit and not do shit about i…

When you were younger did you ever have female friends, or to you has this always been the prevailing trend? Also- what do you do about them not carrying their weight in projects? For example- when I've had similar problems of certain group members not carrying their weight in a group, the group has either decided to dock that person points (in projects where we had that option) or talked to our professor about it. Are these options not available to you?

That... that sounds like a very whiny, non-proactive girl to me. All of those could be remedied by not assuming that men are mind readers and being willing to ask for, in the moment, what you need or make a move for what you need. (I.E., If you want a hug, hug your SO, if you need help with balance, ask your SO for his hand, etc.) Are these points common trends in the girls you're with?

I think this may be part of why the "Just be yourself!" advice is given. If you are looking for a relationship and start it off by lying / being someone you're not, you're going to be stuck being someone else for this woman. Which could bring up a lot of potentially negative emotions in the relationship- resentment, anger, etc. If you're not looking for a relationship, then yes, it's shitty advice. If you just want to get laid there are tons of other things you can do besides "being yourself" th…

Yeah, I kind of figured the words thing was when the top link for it on google was dailymail. Which is just... no. Not a good news source. Well, now I know. :)

I don't have specific citations. These are just things I've read over my years, hence the etc. I know got the problem solving one out of my Myers Psychology book. And when I said problem solving, I meant technical / visual- I remember one diagram in the book where it had a diagram with a shape at the top and underneath three different shapes and one shape that was the same all rotated differently. The point of the exercise was to choose the shape that was the same. The text alongside that exerci…

There are definitely differences. It would be silly to think that there aren't- our chemistry is different. Everyone's brains develop differently. On average, men are better at problem solving, women use more words, etc. However, I don't think the average is the end-all, be-all. Maybe that's the difference? Just because people are different from one another doesn't mean you have to / need to treat them differently unless the situation calls for it. (For example, special ed classrooms, ramps for …

You do realize that this says variation in female income only explains 22% / 39% (if using the pseudo r square which I didn't see an explanation of how they got) of variation in divorce? All a lot of those tables prove is that there is a causal relationship between education and projected female income- the only levels of which are significant (t-score beyond 3) are university education. I'd be interested in seeing an updated version of this with more recent data and also see a consideration of …

For the record, I don't think TRP is filled with strictly vile people. If you and your SO are happy and it works for you- congratulations! I wish you two many happy years to come. As for needless ripping of RPW, I haven't noticed it as I don't feel like I have seen many posts in TBP that go to RPW. Maybe I subconsciously avoid them because I don't have a problem with RPW. The only one that comes to mind was linked to someone's comment about gender equality, and that person getting totally ripped…

But isn't that what an alpha female / beta male would face in TRP? I've browsed TRP quite a bit out of curiosity, and the thing that really stood out to me was this hatred for "career type" females who wear the pants in the relationship. I don't comment and keep my thoughts to myself precisely because it is not a community I am a part of, nor should be a part of, but even if I wanted to / did I'm 99% positive I would be ridiculed and banned from TRP. And rightfully so- my opinions don't belong t…
