America should return all South Africans back to Africa where they belong. Bye, bye Dave Matthews. Thanks for the jams.

I don't see what Trump changes about anything but you do you. There are plenty of States I've lived in that I would gladly choose France or Germany or even UK rather than return to those hellholes. There's nothing Trump is doing that's going to improve those States.

Where have you visited in Europe?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/25 03:56 AM

Do you not hear Europeans complaining about immigrants? I've lived in many countries. And frankly America isn't all that special, in fact it's full of mostly uneducated people and there isn't that much that's impressive compared to what's in Europe except IMHO the national parks and the diversity of people. Europe is vastly superior for traveling. In the EU when you go from country to country each is actually different.

If you're foreign and he's native sorry to say you I expect you will lose 100% of the time. Judges and bureaucrats will be on his side and so will juries.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/25 01:27 AM

It will all get worked out. The real problem is that previous admin have required DEI statements with grants and people had to get really creative to explain WTF their research had to do with DEI. Who is wrong there? Personally I always found the DEI statements to be performative bullshit unrelated to the science. And you would not get funded because your DEI statement wasn't strong enough. So I'm not shedding tears over this loss of admin beurocracy. Just delete that shit and resubmit. Done.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 03:31 PM

It's just a delay for review and they've already set up processes to get them going again. You're like a week behind.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 03:22 PM

What you're talking about isn't DOE yet but public universities used to be funded primarily by the States. Then the DOE happened and for a variety of reasons related to what the DOE actually does, the costs of education have skyrocketed faster than inflation for decades. The idea behind abolishing DOE is to put the States back in charge of their own public universities.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 02:24 PM

Funding for those non-DEI and non-gender ideology projects is not at risk.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 02:07 PM

Not really. Research programs do, but again the ones that matter aren't involved in DEI research. Do you covet US DEI and gender ideology research or something? India can go ahead and take the lead in gender ideology research. How about we ship you these affected grad students to get you going.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 02:06 PM

The US will be perfectly fine without postdocs and PhD students wasting time and resources on DEI projects.

Honestly I just don't trust any of the news about anything. Everything is the worst thing ever and the when you get down to it it's just something that has only been a thing for a few decades (or even years) is being changed or reorganized and XYZ democrat or XYZ career bureaucrat is outraged but can't say what was better about the way it used to be or what is bad other than "change bad". There's a difference between attraction (a sensory input / ideation) which is what people call "raw attraction" (it's a raw unfiltered input) and behavior that indicates attraction (filtered behavior that is observable by others). Such behavior can be motivated by attraction but it can also be motivated by other goals.

Objection: the supposed "straw man" argument is literally what you've been hassling me about. But to further clarify: even if you edited the comment to be not ick aspie, the outcome would have been the same because it still would not be exciting. That wasn't an exciting message spoiled by ick aspie. Removing ick aspie doesn't make something exciting. Removing a turn off doesn't create a turn on. This is the Law of Dual Controls.

Non-raw attraction is a more cerebral sort of thing. "Oh you're checking all the boxes and align with my life goals, having sex with you will make progress". Essentially the nervous system is laid out with the low/high level sensory processing on the back half and low/high level motor/action/goals/long term planning on the front half. Raw attraction is "attractive!" as determined by the sensory half.

It's also because the idea is to give donated organs to those with greatest need and most likely to have a successful transplant and improve, rather than those who can bid the most. So it is a bit more about justice and equity. There are problems with this also (sometimes the sickest don't have the best prognosis), but that's the general idea.

I don't drink much tea but I do like cold unsweetened green and oolong teas that you can get in Japan/Japanese markets. My kids like boba and they've gotten some really delicious ones (I think my favorite of those was a black tea and black sugar one). Those are okay, but I prefer unsweetened.

I prefer it. The typical US show that's designed to keep everyone permanently employed can be too formulaic. A lot of UK shows are on and off like that (for example Luther or Wallander). I think it makes the plots better because they're not playing cheap tricks to get an immediate renewal. They can focus on the season they are making without the expectation of immediate renewal and then work on a more compelling next season.

Palestinians are also semites. Historically, German jew haters concocted the word "antisemitism" because talking about "jew hate" sounded too negative in polite company and also tagging an "-ism" on the end makes the jew hate sound scientific.

It's only a PPD rule and it's up to you to you notice that you are blocked and care enough to contact the PPD mods. The rule came about because people would block each other to artificially "win" debates (by getting the last comment in the thread and blocking others so they couldn't reply).

Generally it doesn't work to just tell an emotion to not exist, they need resolution. But I'm more in the mindfulness camp where you train to sort emotions automatically by pairing them with their resolutions. It's not about validation. The emotion is there. I don't see how anyone telling someone an outcome (only) is going to do much beyond conjure fear of bullying and confrontation that floods and masks the emotion and ultimately leaves the emotion unaddressed and unresolved.

Why would anyone bother with at-fault divorce if they have access to a no-fault divorce? You get to skip completely past the step of establishing fault (that you may fail) and get straight to the divorce part you want anyway. Let's be real if you're suing for at-fault divorce and you manage to lose, you're going to immediately use no-fault divorce to proceed to divorce anyway. Panama is ultimately about global weather changes (unclear whether it's a short term or long term problem) that have depleted the water reservoirs that are necessary to operate the canal. The result is that the flow of traffic through the canal had to be severely restricted driving up shipping costs and contributing to delays. Additionally China has been weaseling their influence into Panama to get preferential access.

The international stage exists in a state of anarchy and existential dread. If UK decided to reclaim Canada and the US then what's stopping them? The answer is the size of UKs military vs the US and Canada's military and how much damage they are willing to risk. /r/PurplePillDebate07/01/25 03:55 PM

Anyone can set the overall tone and expectations of the relationship. There's a certain mythbuilding, idealism, narrative, rituals and cultiness about relationships. At least in my view. The relationship is a larger entity you conjure with your partner. If your partner doesn't align that's fine and it's not a good match. I'm not saying everyone can do things the same way, but I do think like minds recognize each other and flock together.

I'm not understanding how important this guy is to your narrative. Was he a capstone advisor or something or does he have connections with the programs you are applying to? Do you have other professors writing letters? Generally, the idea with reference letters is you want them to provide evidence to support your personal statement. Anyway, I don't think letters are as vital for masters admissions as for PhD. Mostly that's grades and GRE.

If someone desires a sexual partner who is open to (or wanting) the same, explorative and sultry, experiences Then they either have that (and are satisfied in which case your b condition does not apply) or do not and are unsatisfied (which is the unwritten premise).
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/25 10:00 PM

It seems more to be about a) not knowing about the past, the person in question not being forthright about the history, and also b) not being open to (or wanting) the same, explorative and sultry, experiences with the new guy. It's in particular synonymous with b)--unsatisfied with his sex life as preexisting condition. a) is superfluous.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/25 08:33 PM

The fundamental premise behind your position is that he already is actively accepting an unsatisfying sex life because he's rationalizing something about her past. Said another way, you fundamentally are arguing that an unsatisfying sex life is acceptable if the woman doesn't have an unacceptable history. Why? That's dumb as hell. It's a house of cards built on a foundation of stupidity. His actual sex life is reality and immediate. He's either satisfied with it or not before he's given knowledg…

Dance is difficult as a dad and is very much run by women. One of my daughters did dance and I was volunteer stage crew. With daughters you do not expect to be allowed in places like changing areas. Most of the moms were former dancers and very protective (they know all about the creeping). I have no idea how it worked with the few boys in the school. Anyway the dance school was very much a matriarchy and the stage crew were the dads. Youth sports are more run by men and very much not like that.…

Like at playgrounds parents will point out guys who are concerning to each other and when you're the token "dad" the other women recruit you as bouncer protection squad. It's mostly a parents vs non-parents thing TBH. Strange women who show up at the playground without kids get watched, also.

"be the kind of person she wants to be with and she won't leave" is often misunderstood and taken as a covert contract. It's also all fucked up by being in the woman's perspective. Basically it's a bunch of the Nice Guy crap (in the actual legit No More Mr Nice Guy vein). Essentially it needs to bake in more of a "be the person you want to be" authenticity. IMHO you need the front camera for video chat, teams, zoom etc. And the other camera for QR codes, search and magnifier. Taking pictures of device labels and then being able to just copy the model and serial number saves so much time. And I constantly take pictures of things while disassembling them to remember small details about how to put them back together. It's so useful.

Really needs age and country for context. I used to get that sort of thing from school girls in Germany but that wasn't a thing in the US for me. It was also mostly a middle school thing about girls acting like the shit because they had boyfriends in high school and that was the very early 90s so like I said context matters.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 07:16 PM
2

High school girls dating guys who recently graduated was fairly common (2-3 years) but to be honest I've never seen a high school girl dating a guy in their late 20s/early 30s. There was the married band teacher who had an affair with one of his hot students but he was like 40-50 at least.

Edit: oh I'll take that back. When I was interested in a girl I would masturbate thinking about seducing them, etc. I've never felt that about porn though and particularly when using porn to masturbate I'm mentally recasting the scene as I guess a role play involving me any my wife.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 06:54 PM

Porn is very good at delivering novelty. Possibly the need for novelty and surprise is the core of the difference and maybe men need that more than women do. Nothing I can imagine for myself would surprise me.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 06:48 PM
2

It's pretty common for people to have certain personal narrative goals so at some level people are suited to the role or not. But that doesn't mean people don't care about the details of the people filling those roles once they're cast. If a guy wants a wife to stay at home with young kids for example, that's not saying he doesn't care about his specific wife. It's more that he's looking for someone compatible with that role.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 06:38 PM

I don't think men do that? I do think certain porn actors are more efficient at getting the erection started but I can't say it extends further than that. Erections are just the really basic first step. I do find that certain porn stars tend to serve certain niches, though so you can usually follow one chick to porn of a particular sort of genre.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:54 PM

Can you explain why it is bad beyond applying the label "sex work"? What I am saying is P1. Sex work is bad P2. Genital massage is sex work ∴ genital massage is bad Is not particularly informative.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:49 PM
1

No, it's not the opposite of what I wrote. You have to contextualize the book as written by a woman trying to understand men though. Men confuse nurturing and eroticism, women do not. That idea is referenced a bit in the later quote but I can't remember whether the incest protections part made it to the blog if that's what you're looking for specifically. She herself is never tempted to confuse sexuality with nurture. If her husband’s infidelity leads her to take a lover, it will not occur to he…

I don't know that it means anything but it depends on what you mean by "can". If it means he wants casual sex but cannot have it, it could be that his standards are too high. If it means he himself doesn't want casual sex, then it doesn't mean anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:23 PM
1

Yes, but I don't see there's any particular reason it would require trafficking or force. But if it's about the circumstances of the worker that's a different thing than the act itself.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:17 PM
1

Don't they? I thought that was pretty common practice. I've seen people talk about this whole reputation system where workers won't accept clients unless other workers vouch for the client. And supposedly another trick is to charge a lot for the first hour and less for additional hours to keep abusive clients away.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 05:14 PM
2

It's difficult to find a barrier on slippery slope that starts from asking whether it's moral to pay for a massage. I don't see anything objectionable to paying for someone to give you a massage. So then really what's the big deal with a genital massage? Is it only objectionable if it involves a happy ending? Why?

I don't disagree that many openly male feminists are actively predatory. Personally, I don't believe it is valid for any male or man to be called a feminist so puzzle that into rubric. Use some fucking logic. "wolf in sheep's clothing" describes a man who calls himself a feminist in order to infiltrate the flock and prey. Pure derangement.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 04:04 PM

Male feminists come in one of two flavours, the (A) gullible guys who eat up everything he's told about how the world is patriarchal and how women are treated so much worse than men, and buys into the lie that he is unfairly privileged, and the much more nefarious (B) wolf in sheep's clothing types. BiggerD was (A) gullible or (B) wolf in sheep's clothing? Pick. It's a false dichotomy and he was neither.

Whatever it is you're talking about doesn't sound like something that can be solved at an abstract level. For example, irrevocable change could be good or bad depending on the nature of the change. Yes, that's yet again Morin's erotic formula: "attraction + barrier = erotic" (from The Erotic Mind). Basically you need something to wind the tension and anticipation against otherwise the quantity of erotic energy to be released is not large. Barriers come in various forms. Winding tension isn't about dick size.

Like what? There's far more to sex (particularly peak sexual experiences) than merely the flesh involved.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 06:16 PM

But does someone being the best sex mean they will be the best partner? Suppose the best sex you ever experience is with a con artist who robs you blind. Should any other women who is a great partner but can't measure up to the consex feel rage at you for settling? Besides, sex is a skill and can improve.

I don't get it either but from PPD discussions it seems like women consider "dates" to be these formal relationship track things. A lot of women hookup with men they have rejected for the relationship track. So that is why they don't use the "date" term to describe the activity.

Well, funny enough I have one answer. It's a lot of effort to maintain the whole erotic environment (the whole crockpot analogy for those familiar with MMSLP). It's not a lot of work but it is a lot of mental load. And in my case I don't really see the point. I mentioned earlier this year that my wife made some comments to my daughter about my mom's birthday present to her that just absolutely deflated any sexual interest I have in her. So I don't really see the point putting in any effort to ge…

I'm convinced Baldoni is up to no good. Whether or not Blake is also up to no good is a separate question. There's not really a lot of information about why so many people attached to this film decided to refuse promoting the film with him. One person refusing is one thing. Multiple people giving him the cold shoulder suggests something else. My suspicion is it's related to behavior during the fight Blake won over the final edit and becoming a producer. From another perspective 80mL is only 15% of a typical 500mL whole blood donation which people survive just fine. And typically people are allowed to donate while blood up to six times a year which works put to about three days of 80mL blood extraction per month. Just saying that physiologically this amount of blood might not actually be much of an issue.

Generally, discussions start from the assumed baseline. Do guys always start their answers by saying women needs to be physically attractive? Isn't that common knowledge? If people would describe him as weird they would happily throw him under the bus rather than what's going on where everyone who knows him is terrified to have their name associated with him in Google because they only have good things to say. One of the WP reporters is an alumnus of the same high school and is talking to everyone, everyone is "anonymous" and not one of them is saying "he was a weird kid" even behind the mask of anonymity.

But of course DNA evidence is used during investigative stages nowadays. The point is that sometime…

Statutory rape just means the DA doesn't have to waste time building a case with the whole "well, how drunk was she" bullshit. It's birth certificates and done. Statutory rape is a very specific form of rape which means "rape as defined by law". It's a crime against the State. That story didn't really say whether the girl claimed she was raped or not. One of the advantages of statutory rape laws are it allows young girls to not have to testify and makes it impossible to coerce her into changing her story (since neither her story nor whether she even claims to have been victimized or trafficked or whatever even matters). It's a simple formula of birth ce…

Lying about your age is not a false rape accusation. A false rape accusation would be accusing someone of raping you when in fact you had not been raped. Again the facts are statutory rape actually happened. He's not claiming they didn't have sex and the State proved she was 17.

He didn't pardon himself. Presidents don't pardon themselves because a pardon requires first confessing to a federal crime which is a sticky wicket. Federal crimes are impeachable and impeachable is the only out-of-bounds limit the Constitution puts on the power. So pardoning yourself opens the risk that an impeachment trial starts, which invalidates the pardon and you've already confessed so there's no facts to dispute. Yes, it's ultimately vague but no president has dared roll the dice on that…

For the most part you can just compute end-points and plot to do the things you are describing. I haven't done this in a while but if you want to hide things from the legend IIRC you give them a label that starts with an underscore ("_nolegend_" used to be a common choice for this). Sometimes if you need more OCD control you have to reach for lower level graphics primitives (like patches, lines and polygons) but that shouldn't be needed for what you are describing.

Bluesky seems to be far less annoying and more customizable but we'll have to see if that survives scale. If you prefer X that's fine.

Tariffs incoming 😱 Let's get back to trading Puerto Rico for Greenland. Our new Manifest Destiny is to swallow the entire West.

Reddit enhancement suite will do it, but that's desktop only. Some of the unofficial clients also have that as a feature.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/11/24 02:13 AM

How is that petty. It sounds like it was just correcting an error. It happens all the time.

Look, they had a choice: go sit next to blobs at the theater or have fun swallowing Chad's unwashed dick in an alley. They chose blobs.

Correction: they choose to be near the disgusting blob

You probably sold industrial runoff sweetened with a punch of lead and mixed with white paint as raw cow's milk. Don't worry though, Trump and Kennedy will shutter the FDA's peaky regulations and your sun will rise again.

Yeah, I know what you jean. I was pretty proud of myself when I scored a 31% on a statistical mechanics final. Apparently among the top scores ever in that class. It's just awkward when you have to explain that no really 31% is a really good score to normies and everyone rolls their eyes and nods reassuringly.

Yeah that login wall stuff is annoying and Instagram started doing that too so when people link from here it's useless and don't get me started on all the dossier building these sites are all engaged in. But frankly I've never cared about pop culture trending topics stuff because it's just about always paid engineered engagement (probably also learned from the whole Saydrah fiasco) which is where everyone at the time learned to immediately unsubscribe from all defaults, ignore popular and trendi…

Not everything on Twitter was politics lol that's pure brainrot revisionism. Yes, politicians and journalists used Twitter but it was easy to stay away from that (and it still is for the most part bar the periodic changes Musk names to make it more difficult). But ultimately you have to have interesting people you want to follow and have conversations with.

I didn't say I was leaving X? I just have increasingly far less use for it anymore since the people who interest me have now jumped to Bluesky. The societies and organizing I follow at the very least now duplicate posts on X and Bluesky so I can catch up with that either place. Most of the corporate stuff I follow already moved to LinkedIn long ago and dried up on X (LinkedIn is a super annoying platform).
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/24 02:00 PM

I've been on the others for a long time as well (Mastodon, Lemmy, Bluesky) but the innovators in my field were all on X, so I still used it. At this point the only use I have for X are a few stragglers and announcements from FDA.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/24 01:40 PM
1

I do generally think you are correct that people are leaving because of politics, but it's because Musk has politicized the entire platform--even parts that have had nothing to do with politics and want nothing to do with politics.

Who the fuck cares about celebrities. Are you some Kardashian ass-kisser?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/24 01:09 PM

At this point staying on X means missing out on the conversation (in my field)

Bluesky has reached critical mass in my field now. All the Europeans jumped ship from X, lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/24 12:36 PM

I assume you're not considering doing the backend stuff, but just confirming. It's the sort of stupid thing I would agonize over when I was younger and... business with family never works easily but particularly backend type stuff is hard enough even among friends because the "frontend" folks have horrible perceptions and attitudes. Anyway my opinion now is it's never worth the opportunity cost. Sorry your family is horrible.

Usually it's more of a safe space where women can be unbothered. The fact it isn't being used either means the men in general are well behaved there so women venture out, the men already scared off all the scared women, etc.

Essentially you are advocating for only above average men to use the apps. The predictable result will be that women will exclusively use the apps. What you want is the opposite: below average and mediocre men need to flood apps to drive women out and funnel them into more favorable venues.

I wouldn't say curious but sometimes my mom says things that seem normal at first but then later you're like... wait what the fuck? Like when I was 12 or something she told me she was so good at navigation because she and my dad used to like to play a game where she would hide in the trunk of his car and he'd drive around and she'd have to guess where they ended up. In the back roads of the mountains. Which, ok sounds like a fun game. But then when you're a bit older you wonder...

Why are so many things polarized the dumb way. I'm pretty sure some company could sell their phone as brighter in the sunlight just by getting the goddamn polarization, right. Who the hell wants to look at their phone in landscape in the sun.
