That's also why I see RP and the MRM as being fundamentally different from each other. It's funny that a good number of TRPers don't.

Nice anecdote.

I didn't know everything was gendered. I would have thought it was a female one based on how splintered feminism is. Or are we just looking at random shit and labelling them male or female depending on what's convenient? :P
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/15 03:38 PM

Indeed many humans are shit. But women in particular have an observed aversion to accountability. TRPers and RPW who try to pull that stuff get told to get their shit together fast. Ahh yes, those ever reliable "field reports"! Plenty of people believe men are the ones who are adverse to accountability. Maybe we should just accept that people in general are. I'm definitely not. Maybe the TRPers I encountered doing this were also part of MRM. It's hard to separate all the little manosphere sub gr…

That is something most people do, even TRPers. Re: shaming I think you are possibly confusing some MRM subs with TRP. I don't think I am. It's something I've seen espoused by a good number of TRPers.

I think your arguments are bad. It has nothing to do with the fact you are a woman. That is just a coincidence. You do visit a sub that argues that women are children. I assume that you agree with that. That same sub also bemoans the lack of shaming of women in society and argues for more shame in order to create a better class of women. I take it you also agree with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/15 02:19 PM
1

You have been to the sub right? I can't count how many times I've read "women are never shamed anymore! We should shame them! then they'll be the submissives we've always dreamed of!"
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/15 07:20 AM
1

Now I remember why I normally stay away from this sub. It's depressing talking to men who think they can talk to you like a child just because they believe you have the maturity of a child based on your gender. It didn't. I gave you the benefit of the doubt there. Seems I was mistaken.

That's an entirely facetious anecdote to make in this circumstance and you know it. Bringing us right back to the original point of this whole post... Seems to me the outliers are much more common than you'd like to think though.

I've seen it advocated by maybe 80% of self-identifying red pillers. I think you are confusing TRP and PUA. They are not the same thing. That's like saying you're confusing MRAs and MGTOW. They're two communities with a huge overlap.

Thank you for taking te time to write hat out but it doesn't explain why you said shaming was a weak tactic while identifying with a group that advocates shame as a tactic.

Is there a weaker argument than appealing to shame? Isn't that a pretty large part of the recommended strategies for dealing with women in the redpill though?

My parents switched being the breadwinner throughout my life so this was part of my childhood, worked fine, a few teething pains admittedly. I wouldn't like the situation described but that's because my SO and I are very equal in our relationship. I wouldn't say either one of us leads or dominates. We're two very driven people in our own right who like doing things together so that's what we do. We like to share all tasks and responsibilities because we're a partnership.

That's undoubtedly true, I know that having dated a producer on the UK circuit for some time, and there are plenty of reasons why that is. To be honest, if you say you know who Hudson Mohawke is but don't know who MJColes is, you must be trolling because MJColes is a much bigger deal.

You keep changing your terms. Here you talk about being groundbreaking, but when, upthread, you were given the names of groundbreaking female musicians, you said they weren't famous enough to be counted, but here you say that fame doesn't count.

You definitely don't have to go into any dark recesses to hear about Maya Jane Coles, she's one of the most respected DJs on the UK circuit. If shite like Skrillex and Deadmau5 is how you're defining electronic music, then it not women who're behind on what's groundbreaking in that genre, it's you.

Leftist is considered a derogatory term like gauchiste in French. We actually do this thing here where we recognise the vast diversity of left-wing people, but if we're speaking generally, it's left-wing.

Leftist? I'm going to take it you're from the US? :P It's not a competition but if your feminism is intersectional, it will obviously be international. And there are some pretty fr out feminists in both Ukraine and Afghanistan, so I'm not sure what standard yore referring to.

The very fact that debate in pedagogical circles about whether or not there even is a problem is still progress. It's not just assumed that there is no problem. Management in education is ridiculously male-dominated. Obviously we have those discussions. There are men in teaching, they just choose not to stay in the classroom. For some reason. I mean not explicitly excluding males from education is progress, but you made it sound like there where male targeted programs aimed at increasing the num…

Uhh the links are in the first article. Here's the Primary Experience one if you're having trouble locating it This is the first time someone has been able to link where this problem has been correctly identified by people with the power and money to do something about it. I'm glad to see you've chosen to be less combative. One of the issues we have in education is that men seem to be socialized to prefer higher-paying, higher-status jobs to education, so if they do come into education they want to go into senior management rather than stay in the classroom. One of the biggest issues we face is changing the perception of teaching as devalued women's work. Just as we must teach girls that they're good enough for management, we must teach boys that caring profession…

I never said that either was, but this man is trying to set up a party which fights for men and boys rights in the UK, but he seems quite ignorant of what is already being done for men and boys rights in the UK. That is my point. The programme largely consists of careers fairs targetting young men. It works. When I did my initial teacher training, about a third of the primary cohort were men. To be honest, there's different kinds of gender inequality in teaching. There might be fewer men in prim…

but we need to start programs for boys to join nursing, teaching and child care activities. Disclaimer: Not an MRA, am a feminist. In my country (Scotland, which is a part of the UK), there already are programmes in place to encourage men to do primary-teacher training (as secondary teachers are pretty much equal, though subjects tend to lean heavily one way or another). I believe similar programmes are in place down south. Not only is this guy mislead, he's ignorant.

"we do not want women to merely have equality with men, we want to smash the kyriarchal capitalist system!" That's because they believe that equality is impossible under kyriarchy and capitalism. Think about it. Kyriarchy = a society in which certain groups are privileged. Capitalism = a system in which some are privileged by access to resources. How is equality possible under those systems?

Once again, what happened to you was clearly horrible, but I think it would be a mistake to think that's a common experience for girls growing up, it just isn't. Read the NSPCC report. It is a common experience. Just because it seems extreme doesn't mean it's uncommon. I understand that it's upsetting to think it's happening, but it is. Once again, I'd ask you to actually read the report rather than just jumping to conclusions based on anecdotes. This is starting to become quite frustrating, and…

I would disagree, if for example someone I know was to take advantage of a girl who is blackout drunk that guy would get hated on by my social group for certain. Not as much as if physical force was involved, I grant you that, but it's definitely not considered acceptable behaviour. Unfortunately rapists don't always tell people they've just raped someone. To be fair, most teenagers are fucking idiots. And what people think as teenagers is very often not reflective of what they'll think when the…

I think our society reacts that way to some rapists. You rape a woman in a dark alleyway? You beat your partner up and violently rape her? You rape a teenager? Grab the pitchforks! You manipulate someone into sex? You emotionally abuse someone? You take advantage of a drunk/high girl? Not so much. While tabloids might make a big deal out of things sometimes, the fact that police won't take cases with evidence to court (my own case is a perfect example) because they know juries won't convict is a…

It specifically stated in no uncertain terms that rape is not caused by our culture, I don't see how you've come to the opposite conclusion. Moreover, the report supported teaching rape prevention measures, the exact opposite of what feminists hark on about because thy call this "victim blaming." I hope you understand that right now, I'm actually quite pissed and am therefore unable to look up the report and find the area I'm thinking of. I therefore think the numbers displayed in the Guardian article lean a bit towards hysteria. While statements like "40% of women are victims of sexual harassment" grab headlines, often if you look into the data, this includes minor crimes as well as full on sexual assault. Now while these minor crimes are not in any way acceptable (that should go without saying), your source specifically states the minor crimes make up the majority of the crimes in the report, not the more serious offences. I am not trying to discredit you at all but I do think you are a minority for having experienced this kind of stuff. Most of my friends have experienced some if not all of this. Statistically, most women experience sexual harassment and I believe it's 1/5 is raped. The majority of women who are raped are raped for the first time between the ages of 11 and 17. All that stuff sounds horrible and I'm sorry you had to go through it. You don't have to be sorry, though I appreciate the sentiment. I live in the UK and there's no way any of that shit would fly here. I live in the UK. I was born in the UK. I have spent 19 of my 21 years in the UK. How so? I am genuinely curious about how you've come to this conclusion. I haven't seen any evidence of this and you yourself said you grew up in an equal household. We know men and women have equal rights and are both able to get jobs and do their own thing. Where's the patriarchy? First of all, I need to ask that you be sensitive here. I'm 21. I'm from the same generation you are. I have life experience that confirms, for me, that we still live in a patriarchy. There have been, and still are, matriarchal tribal cultures. North-eastern Native American society was matriarchal and matrilineal. I do not deny that men tend to be stronger and more athletic. That's biology. Historically, and currently, humans have been violent and thus power has always been weighted towards the group with physical dominance. That's all that proves, n…

I don't think you're getting my point. Because it is unusual in mainstream media/rhetoric, the idea is appealing. Yes, there is more to it. There's millenia of sexual politics and oppression to it. That's what makes it so popular. Everyone has experience of it. Everyone knows the dynamics, tabbos, everyone has lived through them. I do think it is a natural thing for women to enjoy being on the receiving end of domination. Define "natural." :P I personally think if we didn't live in a patriarchy,…

I would also disagree women enjoy being sexually submissive because of society. If anything the opposite is true in 2014 - the idea of women being submissive is extremely taboo and controversial. If you look at depictions of BDSM in most movies or in advertising or other popular media, the woman is dominant, because it's way too taboo to show things the other way around. Yeah, this is exactly what I mean. People get off on taboo. Massively. Just go on literotica and see how many stories there ar…

It's actually a criticism Piaget makes of his own work later in his career, that development is much more zig-zaggy than his theory lays out, children will progress faster in some cognitive areas and sometimes regress. This renders the theory a bit useless in some contexts.

In terms of sexuality most women just enjoy taking the submissive position. I agree that that's a phenomenon that we see in society. I believe it's socioculturally influenced (if not created), but I'm glad you brought up 50 Shades because it pretty much describes an abusive relationship, not a healthy D/s dynamic (the D goes to extreme lengths to cut of contact to the outside world, especially men he sees as rivals, the D manipulates her into quitting her job if I remember correctly, controls he…

protection is the number one thing women want everything else can be met if they feel protected. I think there's a lot of women who'd disagree with you. Vygotsky's one of my favourites, though I accept that a lot of what we believe to be Vygotskian is actually misinterpretations of his original work. Better to say, I love the Vygotskian tradition and school of thought. Piaget's cool but flawed, too rigid.

I feel like this is going to be pointless to continue. You seem to have some rather entrenched (and in my opinion, illogical) views which you seem to see as fact. Which is a shame, but you are entitled to them. I do however feel really sorry for you in that you only seem to see women's value through the prism of their sexuality. Women who have respect for themselves are attractive to me. How is this related to anything else you've said? How are self-respect and attitudes towards sex inherently related? Sluts, while physically attractive, I view as void of personal integrity How do you define personal integrity? How do those definitions change for men and women? Women are not statically appealing. Regardless of whether someone is taken advantage of because they've been drugged or have drunk too much, attacking them is still unacceptable and they are still a victim of an attack. If you murder a drunk person, you're still a murderer and they're still a murder victim. If you steal from a drunk person, you're still a thief and they're still a victim of theft. If you rape a drunk person, you're still a rapist and they're still a rape victim.

I think they're mainly keen that the onus isn't put on women to stop attackers, for this not to be added to the long list of things victims are told "oh if only you'd..." It's something that will probably help some women, but it is also important to bear in mind that date rape makes up a pretty small proportion of rape. Most rape victims are attacked by someone they know - an intimate partner, a family member, a friend or an acquaintance. This is not some amazing cure for the issue of rape, it's…

Without context, this lady sounds pretty unreasonable, but from what she's saying, it sounds like she's kind of at the end of her tether. I wonder how she got there. He had an argument with his sexual partner, he won, then went online to boast about how mature he was. The fact that he went online to do that demonstrates, to me, that he's pretty much the opposite of that. He seems to see relationships as battles to be won, like power struggles, and I think that's deeply unhealthy.

It varies quite considerably to be honest. I tend not to date women with the same body type as me but that's mainly because variety in the bedroom is fun and insecurity in the bedroom is not. It's basically just "do i find you attractive?" I guess with men I tend to go for dark-haired guys more, and I like prominent noses. With women I tend to go for taller women, and I love a long, graceful neck.

What I'm saying is that, for example, it would be easier for you as a white woman to have your pick of the litter of black men simply because you are a white woman and MANY black men desire to date a white woman (many find white women to be MORE attractive than black women--this isn't just unique to black men either, I've heard it from Asian men as well). I can really only disagree to be honest. Your concept of "dating up" seems to be linked to some quite odd views about what races are superior to each other in terms of attractiveness. I find it quite baffling that you'd make that assumption about people. You're not really answering any of my points. I'd never even heard the term "interracial dating" until I started talking to Americans online. I'm kind of shocked that it's something that you see as an issue. Even really conservative people here (with the exception of racist parties like UKIP and especially the BNP) have no issue with people dating people of other races. Like my boyfriend is mixed race, and I'm white, and we haven't ever had a single comment (though a few side eyes).
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/14 03:17 PM

Umm I'm sorry but this is going to quite a weird racist place. It sounds like you're suggesting that the only reason someone would date inter racially is because they're somehow undesireable or unstable. The UK has some of the highest rates of interracial marriage in the Western world and the things you're describing aren't really reality here, and I doubt they're real for a lot of Americans.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/14 03:12 PM

I mean part f the reason why I'm finding this hard to understand is that I'm from the UK, we don't have the same racial dynamics here but Asian women are generally seen as more desireable I think. I don't really have an issue with it apart from that I think it's a bit racist and exoticising.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/14 03:02 PM

You seem pretty bitter about that. In any case, the men I date tend to be pretty confident an secure in themselves and their sexuality, so it doesn't really seem to be an issue for them.

Uhh this really isn't the case in my experience. I've got a few black exes and plenty of white guys have absolutely no issue with that. I don't really understand why they would either.

Anyway, apology accepted. Always nice to talk to a reasonable person who can admit they were wrong. I don't appreciate the tone, or the wording. I think we both know I wasn't wrong, I never said any of the things you said I did, I simply didn't explain it as in depth as you wanted me to. Still this level of passive-aggression and delusional belief in superiority is something I've come to expect from red pillers.

I'm not disputing that. I'm talking about the idiocy of your statement that you can retain calories while being in a caloric deficit. You can't. There is this thing called laws of thermodynamics. You should look up the first law. I'm so sorry, my specialist ED therapists and doctors must have been either lying to me or grossly misinformed! Thanks for correcting them, random person on reddit! I commented on "your body quickly starts retaining because it's starving" part of your comment which is bullshit. That's why I mentioned starvation mode (myth) and explained why it's bullshit. You don't "retain" calories when you are starving, you are simply using less of them (because your body adapted as much as it could) but as long as you are in a caloric deficit you will lose weight. More slowly, and unhealthily if you eat that little. You seem to think you can pick and choose things, no, m…

This is purely analogy but I do think it plays a role. Up until I was about 10, I was equally good at all subjects, including maths. My teacher when I was 9-10 often made jokes about things men and women did, and one of them was women struggling with maths and boys being bad with words. Around that time I started struggling with maths and believing I was really bad at it, it eventually got worse and worse, requiring a tutor, until I was 16 and could quite maths having achieved a good enough qual…

Uhhh, no it's not, and when I first started displaying anorexic behaviours I was overweight medically, it was still extremely unhealthy for me to be eating that little. Losing 1/3 of your body weight in four months is extremely traumatic for your body, even if you're overweight, and that's what happens when you eat 800-1200 calories a day. I know because that's what I did. Doing that to your body leaves you with serious health problems. I have weak bones and chronic bowel problems because of tha…

I'll concede that there is a way that "man's woman" differs from "man's wife" (but still, some languages conflate these into "man's woman"). Yeah, fluent Spanish speaker here. I always found it odd that mujer means both wife and woman bu hombre just means man, while marido means husband. I personally think that is an interesting reflection of attitudes towards men and women. You'll have to change the perception itself or reality itself, which may not even be possible. I think it's okay to tell the partner if you actually know them. I wouldn't go and look up someone on Facebook and shoot them a message, but if I've ever actually spoken to the person/we're on a first name basis I'd tell them their SO tried to get with me. Yeah it's definitely a totally different situation if you know their partner, and even more imperative if their partner is your friend, I feel, but if you don't know them, it's hard to say what's worse.

I don't think you're quite understanding. The dog's owner is not a counter example. Owner is still a word which describes a relationship, not a simple state of being. If you had said "the man's dog" you would have a point, which backed up mine. Actually both examples back up my thinking, since the only other example you could of f this constriction did describe a literal owner/owned relationship. I understand working on oneself, working on oneself is an important part of being happy, but at the end of the day, I think you're horrendously naive if you think broken relationships are always an individual's fault. Yeah and a shitload more abuse, and shitload more of marriages where people just got together too young and later realised they had nothing in common, and a shitload more marriages where one person controlled the other completely... Some polls have shown that up to 36% of divorces were caused by abuse. People will often put down different things on the legal paperwork because to cite physical abuse might make the case more difficult or drawn out for the victim.

You seem to be under the impression that people divorce flippantly. In my experience that doesn't happen, people do work very hard, but often it's not enough and they're just unhappy together. Redpillers often seem to think that marriage 60 years ago was a bed of roses, it wasn't, people were just as unhappy, only then they had no way out. Why do you think their children divorce and have unhealthy attitudes towards relationships? Because they grew up in dysfunctional, unhappy houses.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/14 06:36 PM

Yeah, my friend's abusive father was genuinely shocked when his wife left him and initiated divorce proceedings against him. Just because someone is unaware that there's a problem doesn't mean that the other person should have to put up with it.

Also, tell me, how do you prove that men can love?

There are examples of women sacrificing themselves for men downthread.

I can only really go by how my ex (who is the one person I've loved romantically, I'm only 21) described how he loved me to me. What he described was near identical to how I felt, and I chalk any tiny differences up to the fact that we are both very smart, but in different ways (me linguistically, him scientifically) so we express ourselves in different ways. I believe that women and men are more similar than red pillers do though, so it's not such a weird concept for me. Edited for a word

"I believe" isn't proof, it isn't your reasoning.

The RAINN report that that article is based on is, in my opinion, deeply flawed. It describes the need to stop bystander inaction and educate on consent in order to lower rape levels - and that's exactly what feminists have been advocating for years to combat rape culture. I think the report misunderstands rape culture as referring to pieces of media, when in fact the term refers to the way people operate within our society and how our culture backs that behaviour up i.e bystander inaction and l…

This is a great answer! Yay! Thanks! 1.) Congrats on your bf :) People deviate around their "type" all the time. So I don't doubt that men like one thing but then meet someone else who doesn't look like that, but is sexy to them nevertheless. Which is good! Oh I'd hardly call him my boyfriend! We're more casual-yet-somewhat-emotionally-dependent-friends-who-have-sex-a-lot. It's an arrangement that suits me down to the ground right now! in the rare circumstances where I feel tempted to lash out a…

First of all, I'd say that finding someone attractive purely based on physical appearance is shallow. I do not, however, believe that most people are attracted in that way. It might just be personal bias, but outside of a few preferences (I tend to go for dark-haired men much more than fair-haired men, and I absolutely adore big noses), I'd say that how a person carries themselves and talks is much more of a factor in whether or not I find them attractive. A guy might tick all of the physical bo…

As you can see from the gray line, women rate an incredible 80% of guys as worse-looking than medium. Very harsh. On the other hand, when it comes to actual messaging, women shift their expectations only just slightly ahead of the curve, which is a healthier pattern than guys’ pursuing the all-but-unattainable. But with the basic ratings so out-of-whack, the two curves together suggest some strange possibilities for the female thought process, the most salient of which is that the average-lookin…

This. Exactly. I have a high-ish partner count but I've never cheated on someone. Cheating matters so much more.

I have a high partner count. It makes me more comfortable because it means they're more likely to be on my wavelength and be less judgemental. I'm queer so this applies to men, women and everyone else. There are exceptions of course. I've met guys with much higher partner counts who were judgemental of my comparably low one, and people with much lower ones who were totally chill with mine. It's essentially a matter of getting to know someone so I won't write anyone off if they seem interesting, …

Didn't make any comment, was just saying that that mistranslation might lead to confusion.

Hey, sorry, quick note on the beginning bit, this video is poorly translated. The "attending to it" bit means someone dealing with the resident's meetings and organisation of the building's upkeep, not the cleaning, so when she says she should be speaking to his wife, she's saying that he doesn't have the authority or whatever to do the organisation bit. french student slinks back off into the shadows
