Going to Rome next week 🥳 UV in Norway is 4. But I am as close to albino as you can get without having albinism. I haven't tanned even a shade in my life. It's pasty corpse or boiled lobster for me.

Moving with books does suck so bad. But the nkstalgia of flipping through an old book is unmatched. I still have some of my old picture books.

I guess my fundamental issue with it is that children lack agency. Whilst childhood came with a certain comfort, I would not trade it for my freedom. I do not need a man to protect me, nor would I want to burden someone I love with that responsibility.

I'll admit I did a double take at scheduled sex, but at the end of the daynif it works for you than I'm happy for you. I find it to be an interesting dynamic, probably because it's quite different from what I'm used to seeing. Whilst gender dynamics exist everywhere, I'd say it's perhaps less prominent in the relationships among my peers, but then I do live in scandinavia.

Self improvement is all well and good. Maybe my feeds are fucked, but I don't feel like that's the largest part of the conversation right now. Another thing I find puzzling is the whole "you don't ask a fish how to best catch fish" or however it goes. I suppose I don't understand the lack of curiosity. I've found it to be incredibly insightful to talk to men about dating, and while talking to women can teach me a lot, it's not really the same as we don't have identical experiences of the world.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 01:06 PM

1. Congrats! 2. & 3. But if you are the same education level etc, how does that make her hypergamous? Do you think it's hypergamous to look for your equal? Based on how the two of you perceive men and women, I wonder what your social circles look like, because I can't relate to the negative descriptors of men or women when I look at my peers. Could it be cultural rather than gendered? 4. By your definition, aren't most men in relationships alpha? In my experience, men tend to date within their c…

So it's actually more of a conservative versus progressive issue? And as more men are conservative they're upset at the lack of conservative women?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 12:53 PM

Thanks for sharing. And I appreciate the neuance. I don't think infantalization really softens the blow. We've seen this in fundamentalist religion as well: Women are precious so they must be covered up and protected. They're too fragile to hold positions of power or to have responsibility outside the home. Infantalising women leads to their confinement, in a more or less extreme sense, and I think that's pretty hateful.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 12:50 PM

The way I see women described by tge red pill sounds pretty hateful to me? Superficial, materialistic, opportunistic, entitled etc. I could never date someone who perceived me like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 12:27 PM
1

Ok cool! How long have you been together and are you in a relationship, engaged, married? Did you share your red pill views early on? What does she think? How do you reconcile red pill views of women with how you view your partner? Do you think she is superficial, materialistic, entitled hypergamous, opportunistic etc, or is she an exception? Do you consider yourself alpha or beta-buxed? (not entirely clear on the terminology, forgive me)
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 12:25 PM

Goodness. I guess what I struggle to wrap my mind around is wanting women if you simultaneously think they're terrible people? If I felt like that about men I simply wouldn't want to be around them. Alas, as with any group there are a few spoiled apples, but in my experience most are sweet 🤷‍♀️

I have no reason to lower my standards, because a relationship below my standards < being single. I haven't had trouble dating within my standards however. There are lovely men out there. I actually met my partner after I raised my standards significantly. My impression is that, either dating is significantly worse in the US than in Europe, or, and probably more likely, negative content online gets more engagement and becomes more visible.

Minimum income: Needs to be able to support himself. Maximum amount of unappealing male hobbies: There's not a number, but there are hobbies I don't vibe with, such as gun collecting, …

Thanks for that! I'm glad to hear that you eventually figured things out :) I think a mistake we often make is assuming that people we are talking to understand our meaning. So we'll say things like "confidence is attractive" without explaining what we actually mean by that. There's no wonder that a boy or young man might look at superficial confidence or even cockyness and emulate that without looking at what the behaviour is an expression of. Then again, I don't think most people really analys…

Well that's nice. It's lovely when people find eachother. My gay friends mostly complained that it was difficult to find someone also looking for serious long term commitment. Getting laid was no issue however.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/25 12:06 PM

Right, so it's more of a "do you think this person looks attractive" as opposed to "are you attracted to this person".
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/25 12:04 PM
2

But I've also heard that the body image pressure is higher among gay men. The pressure to be fit is supposedly quite intense.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/25 11:59 AM

I wonder if these correlations are present across sexualities. Like do clever lesbians find fewer women attractive? Do confident gay men find more men attractive?

Start small. It can be as simple as "that's really funny", "interwsting, I didn't know that", "you've always for the best stories". In a group conversation about anything, let's say hiking, "oh did you guy see the awesome hike Thomas did last week?" gesture to Thomas "Those shots were incredible, show us!" I've found that the most socially and romantically successful men (whom like you say have "physical flaws" that don't align with conventional beauty standards) have a very strong sense of self. They're confident and don't feel the constant need to prove themselves. They know their worth, so they don't take themselves too seriously. They're simultaneously solid and relaxed, playful and easy to be around. They're also great at uplifting other people, which they often do by triangulating, not only …

I am not attracted to someone just based on looks. I can say that they look nice, but I feel nothing and I am not interested in them because of it. I need an emotional connection to feel attraction and sexual desire.

Almonds > Cashews > Peanuts
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 05:33 PM

Precisely. This is why I think it's primarily an overblown online hypothetical issue as opposed to a significant real life problem
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 05:30 PM
2

Yes. If I interrupt you it's actually an indicator that I think what you're saying is really interesting. If I get quiet during a conversation it is usually because I find it boring 🙊
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 03:29 PM
2

For sure, but I can imagine someone who grew up with that dynamic in their family, they might trivialise it and not take their own feelings seriously. There's no lack pf people that would call someone dramatic for leaving their partner under those circumstances, and those ideas get internalised by many. It's easy for me to say that I wouldn't put up with it, because I grew up with a better example.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 03:27 PM
2

He's responsible for his shitty behaviour, and I don't think we need to shame people for trying to make things work. But they deserve better, and if it was my friend I would try to make them understand that. Otherwise where do we draw the line? Is it the victims fault that their partner beats them, because they didn't leave soon enough? "We accept the love we think we deserve."
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 03:04 PM

Unpopular opinion, but I don't get lip filler either. Naturally full lips are beautiful, but filled lips look kinda silly to me 👀

At that point, unless he is sick or something, I'd put it as an expectation, not a need. These are things that have to get done. I don't care if you do it or yourself if you pay a housekeeper, but it's getting done. Partners are supposed to respect and support eachother.

They're far too young to be held criminally responsible. I googled it, and it's 14 in Australia. I hope they can find out what lead to it. As I said, this kind behaviour is usually a result of sexual abuse, and this went so much further than a typixal case, and it involved more than one boy, so it's deeply concerning.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The amount of neglect after the fact but also clearly leading up to it is astonishing. 5 and 6 year old boys don't come up with things like this by themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/25 01:29 PM

5 year old girl sexually assaulted by a group of boys The boys are her age. How does this happen? Normally when very young children assault another child, it is because they are being sexually abused themselves, so they don't understand that it isn't a normal way to interact with someone. This wasn't one child however. It was a group. I'm speechless.

I feel you. Over the years I have found ways to block the pain that comes from seeing horrible news, but that's always at expense of positive feelings too. It has a broad numbing effect on me, and does more harm than good in the long run. So I have to pace myself. At the same time I think a certain level of turmoil deserves to be felt. If we avoid the pain either by numbing or looking away it becomes increasingly difficult to mobilise people to do something about the cause of the pain. We're usi…

Oh that's an interesting angle. The actors know what they're doing, but the dog doesn't?

Do you think understanding suffering makes the suffering feel less bad?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 09:45 PM
1

So knowing what's happening is better or worse?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 09:17 PM
1

That's commendable. I respect that.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 08:29 PM
1

I see. Are you vegan?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 08:11 PM
1

That does make sense. Especially with recent news we see children in absolute horror every single day. Taking it in every single time could break someone. But getting numb is dangerous too, because there's a serious lack of resistance.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 08:07 PM
1

I feel you. I like animals and try to be kind in general, but I have a special place in my heart for the people I work with. Teenagers that violently lash out because they're terrified and in pain.

Would you rather be shot in the back of your head as you're on your merry way, or slowly have someone backing you into a corner, hurting you and scaring the shit out of you before killing you?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:59 PM
1

How about irl? If you hear about a dog getting hit by a car vs a child? What if there is intent, a news story about a child that's been brutally murdered and a dog that's been brutally murdered? How does reading that make you feel? Sorry for the dark imagery. Feel free not to respond. I'm just curious.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:58 PM
1

Interesting. What's the main difference between a 12 and 13 year old to you? Or making it easier, between a 10 and 15 year old?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:52 PM
1

Does that apply to real life too? Do you feel worse for modern slavery and sweat shop workers or factory farm animals?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:51 PM
2

Most people are just doing their best, young or old.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:48 PM

At what age do you not care very much about the kids anymore?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:47 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:44 PM
1

I don't get it.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:43 PM
1

But isn't that innocence in one way less horrific? In the show I am watching some dogs were killed. They were shot dead before they had any idea what was happening. Tails wagging until the last moment. No suffering, just death. Meanwhile the people in the show experience fear, pain and suffering leading up to their deaths. Both were hard to watch, but the people definitely more so.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:41 PM
1

I think that's something else. Some people resonate more emotionally with media than others. I understand a distant watcher more than someone who cries when a dog dies but doesn't bat an eye at the depiction of human suffering.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:38 PM
2

You deserve it 😘
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:36 PM
2

I honestly think the way people are distancing themselves from eachother is very dangerous. It makes us easy to manipulate and exploit.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:36 PM
1

Why?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:34 PM
1

I'm not even sure that it's virtue signaling. I don't think virtue signaling is very common? It seems to me that some are just disconnected from other people to an extreme extent, yet they somehow manage to feel something for dogs. People say dogs are innocent, but since when does someone have to be a "perfect victim" to deserve basic sympathy?? I don't get it.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:34 PM
1

That's actually infuriating.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:30 PM
1

Ah. I'm watching HBO Chernobyl and reading people's reactions to it. The deaths are horrific, as you can imagine, but there is one episode where they're putting down dogs and people are freaking out. That's after seeing people's flesh melting off their bodies from acute radiation sickness. Like the dogs getting shot is the part that really got to you?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:29 PM
1

I think most people are just doing their best to live without hurting others. There are evil people, and they do a lot of damage, holy shit they do, but most people aren't evil.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:26 PM
1

Silk is good!
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:24 PM
1

Do you actually believe that?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:24 PM
1

I don't feel like people are collectively obsessed with dogs here. Owners can be about their own, but that's the most I've seen personally.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:24 PM
1

I've seen that too. Like when there's a natural disaster and people gen angry when owners have to abandon their pets.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:23 PM
2

I've noticed that Americans online have incredibly high levels of empathy for dogs, and some other animals too, but primarily dogs. I don't see that same level of care about people, sometimes not even people in their own communities.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:22 PM
1

Please tell me it isn't synthetic 🫣
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:17 PM
2

I'm going to make a generalisation. Forgive me. Why do Americans get more upset when dogs are killed in films/series, than when people are killed?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:15 PM
1

I feel you. My bed is embarrassingly expensive.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:12 PM

Bahahhaha algorithm on point 😭🤣 After searching up all these songs YouTube reccomended this: You Don’t Want Love—You Want to Be Picked So You Feel Worthy Basically YouTube going: calm down, you're delulu 🙄
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 06:23 PM

I used to listen to a lot of new age music when I was younger and it reminds me a lot of that, but more rock? Thank you for introducing me! Do you have more favourites by the same artist?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 06:16 PM

Not my cup of tea but you do you 💁‍♀️
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 06:03 PM

Susanne Sundfør is the queen of complicated love songs. Here's just a few faves: Accelerate: Dangerous intoxicating love Fade Away: Long distance love Kamikaze: Codependent love Delirious: Toxic and unhinged love, possibly avoidant pov Slowly: Hopeless romantic anthem If You Want Me: Situationship anthem When: Unrequited love Undercover: Hardened yearning And a palate cleanser: Alyosha: Love redeemed (the video is from her wedding, after a messy af love life 🥲)

I prefer a slightly melancholic lover girl vibe. Please go slowly. I wanna feel every move you make. All the nightmares, they will disappear as you come in. Let's dance all night.... And you say it's gonna last forever. We have different heartbeats but all the same heartbreak. And I can feel it in the way you hold me. The way you hold me. I know you're lonely too. So please go slowly.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 05:06 PM

You can be the nice neighbour that shares food. Or save it for later 🤷‍♀️
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 04:46 PM
1

Yeah? Maybe I'd feel differently if we didn't have so many overlapping home office hours.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 04:31 PM

You'd get on with my bf. Once him and his french friends bought every brand of butter available in normal supermarkets in Norway, and then they had a butter ranking party 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 04:15 PM

I think 60s mod makeup would look adorable on her.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 04:10 PM

I think for me another thing is that I don't want to date someone in my field. It's refreshing to be with someone who does/knows something completely different.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 02:45 PM

Not saying it can't of shouldn't be done. I wouldn't 🤷‍♀️

If you think changing beauty standards is the cause then you're wildly uninformed or delulu.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 02:11 PM

I'd never date a coworker. That's just awkward, wether it works out or not.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 02:10 PM

Trying to decide between Alsace and Bordeaux.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 02:08 PM

That makes sense but I don't like drinking milk, so I'll have some yoghurt and cross my fingers 🤞
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:56 PM
1

How about neither? Extreme dieting more often leads to weight gain btw, so this doesn't help with that issue either.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:51 PM

I'm feeling it now and I will definitely feel it later 🥲
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:50 PM
1

I agree.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:50 PM

Yes. She'll always have a space in my heart. Thank you.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:24 PM
1

Because we're see an increase in EDs in young girls as well as animocity towards people not fitting in the very narrow beauty standard. I was a kid during the 2000s and I dispite being underweight I felt too big. Meanwhile my best friend who was chubby was bullied so badly that she recently passed away from anorexia. Died in her 20s. This doesn't happen to everyone ofc, but many develop a very unhealthy relationship with their bodies and food because of these trends.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:18 PM
1

I think most people think carpenter is hot, but I see more and more girls and women calling her chubby or even fat whilst trying to be as thin as possible. "Skinnytok" is growing, with super young girls giving eachother extreme weight loss advice like drinking drinking diet coke to replace meals etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:11 PM
1

I don't like high waist either. I'm more concerned about extreme body pressure than fashion.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:03 PM
1

There's nothing wrong with individual preference, but it's concerning when it becomes the standard.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:01 PM
1

I'm not saying it'll happen to her. Lohan was just an example of wider trends in society at the time. I am worried that more young girls will starve themselves again.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:00 PM
3

Yes I know. But it appears to me to be growing, and to be fair it's mostly between women, trying to out-skinny eachother into emaciation. I am pretty sure men generally preferred her look before the ED: https://preview.redd.it/14r3izcaw0se1.jpeg?width=341&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c78a1c4c8e9843b3e7c135c739b31a1c6d522803
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 12:59 PM
2

That too, but after Mean Girls she also suffered from an ED and became really emaciated.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 12:53 PM
2

I'm getting early 2000s vibes around beauty standards again. People body shaming Sabrina Carpenter 🙄 Did people forget what happened to Lindsay Lohan after Mean Girls?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 12:47 PM
2

What did you buy?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 12:37 PM
1

Why vibrator? The Os from penetration and the Os from external stimulation are different. The latter feels more similar to a male O. Then if you combine the two...
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:22 AM
1

It doesn't have to be about trust. Filming is something many aren't comfortable with, myself included. I trust my boyfriend with my life, but I wouldn't let him film me naked. It's ok to have boundaries.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 07:19 AM
2

That's okay. There's nothing wrong with emotions. As long as you're able to self regulate and reflect it's all good.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 05:35 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 04:20 PM

Personally I prefer a straight forward approach, "You're cute", "I like you", so I can't help there. How to vet depends on what you're vetting for? What characteristics are you looking fpr and which ard you trying to avoid?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 04:18 PM

I don't like blondes, but Lagertha is hot.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:45 PM

That's fine. He should do what he likes, not what most people prefer.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:44 PM

Again. I've never been remotely interested in hookup culture, so I can't speak on that. I'm talking about people who are romantically successful.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:20 PM

Idk. I was never into hookup culture. I'm talking about the successful people I see around me.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:13 PM

Blonde buzz 👀
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 03:12 PM

He would look so much better if he shaved it off completely.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:47 PM

But that "other stuff" is often what makes them attractive in the first place. Drive, passion and purpose is hot.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:46 PM

But! For those loosing their hair, it is better to get a clean shave. It can look really sophisticated and it always beats the denial hairstyles.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:44 PM

A friend of mine told me that his best friend who married his HS sweethear feels like he missed out on sleeping around, as well as experiencing certain sexual acts that his wife isn't interested in 🥲
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:43 PM

It might just be because people who have have easy time with relationships also tend focus a lot on other aspects of life, so they're just sharing what works for them 🤷‍♀️
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 02:40 PM

To me it honestly matters a lot. Wavy or curly dark hair is swoon worthy 🥰 Meanwhile a skinfade or buzzcut can really drag someone down.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 08:20 AM

I think I've been traumatised by really bad sweet white wine on airplanes. And then I didn't want to be rude and wsste it, so I chugged it 🤢
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 08:14 AM

I feel you. A sweet red can sort of work in very small quantities with cheese, although it's not preferable, but sweet white wine is ☹️
/r/PurplePillDebate30/03/25 07:54 AM

We talk about all sorts of things, taboo or not. Having disagreements and debates is normal too. I just don't think this is something they care about. Most of them have been in several relationship anyway and see that as valuable experience, not as something making them damaged goods 🤷‍♀️

/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 10:23 PM

Body count is such a chronically online topic. I've never even heard the words uttered in person, and I imagine if I were to say it, my peers would think I was talking about casualties or something.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 09:38 PM

That's fucked. We need non-profit dating apps.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 03:52 PM

There's too much violence in this world and I'd rather not add to it. I understand the need for self defence, but I'd rather volunteer in a hospital or do something similar.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 03:42 PM

I believe in you!
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 03:41 PM

Although the recently improved ai images can be used for evil, it also renders revenge porn useless. It's gotten so good that if a piece of shit decides to leak their ex's nudes, they can always just say it's fake.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 02:01 PM

Anne of Green Gables!
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 02:00 PM

My dad actually won full custody of my half brother, because his mother wasn't able to be a decent parent, so she had to pay my dad child support as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 01:50 PM

If the other parent doesn't have parental rights for some reason, you get the other parents quota.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 01:47 PM

No. The way it works is a couple gets 12 months total payed parental leave. 3 are spesifically for one parent and 3 for the other (regardless of gender). The remaining 6 are to be split however the couple likes. However, if one parent chooses not to take their 3 months, you lose them, forcing the other partner to stay home without pay or to put the child into childcare early, both of which is frowned upon. You lose perks basically, so mandate wasn't really the best word, but socially, in practic…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 01:11 PM

And that's great too. I am all for sports, partaking in them myself, but over the years I've heard many men express that they would like deeper friendships. And maybe sports can do that, but trying something different doesn't hurt. One size doesn't fit all, and considering that these meetups have been happening for a while, and they're organised by the men participating, it seems to do some people some good? Why not just let them have the W and give them some credit for being proactive?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:55 PM

Me too, but mainly because your GP is responsible for basic gynecological checkups here. It's still weird af, but I am glad I swapped to a femalw doctor before the bi-annual checkups started.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:50 PM

They're actually bonding with eachother instead of an activity. Crazy, I know.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:48 PM

Maybe where you are, but again, remember that where I live, even if the date went well the default is splitting the bill. So it is a statement and women offer to pay too. Dinner is not a normal first date here btw, so we're talking coffee, maybe drinks.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:47 PM

I've actually seen a lot of push for more men to stay at home with kids for longer. It's mandated minimum 3 months, and so many are having such a l blast with their kids.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:45 PM

Yes, I really like how proactive and positive it is.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:42 PM

I don't know. I obviously haven't gone. Cringing is cringe.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:41 PM

I can't remember being angry on my own behalf, and when you get angry for someone else people tend to be supportive.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:14 PM

<image> Love this! Men in the neighbouring town have started organising weekly "man meetups" to tackle loneliness. Today they met for waffles.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:13 PM

Because when I am treated poorly and I should get angry at the person being unfair I instead get sad or angry at myself. It's not productive.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 12:11 PM

<image> I don't necessarily think this is good.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 11:49 AM

Ok, but imagine if he bakes and collects antique tea sets. You could have the best tea parties with you and the dolls.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 11:43 AM

Yeah, I get it too. It's not as intense where I live. A friend of mine is portugese and she said she never wants to work in Portugal again because of how so many men behave there. I remember when she first came here, she couldn't stop talking about how she was able to wear cute clothes without getting harassed on the street 😔
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 11:30 AM

Shit it looks bad..
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 11:16 AM

Unrelated, but I love her hair.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 10:56 AM

That is not at all the standard in many western European countries, including my own. 50/50 or pay for what you had is the default. So if a guy or girl offers to pay, it is a way to signal that you really loved your time and would like to see them again. If a second date happens, it is also the norm for the person who was treated to return the gesture. This is also why refusing someone's offer to pay is a way to reject further contact, because it is implied that the kindness will be reciprocated…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 10:54 AM

This happens a lot, but still most men aren't that delulu, so we don't stop being nice just because of a few creeps.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 10:51 AM

That's entirely unacceptable. Spanking your kids is illegal here, let alone punching them in the face wtf.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 10:48 AM

Expecting it by default is so weird. It wouldn't even feel like a romantic gesture if he did offer to pay if you expect it no matter what.

I'm not arguing my stance here. Maybe they would? That's an interesting discussion. Some of us do care about our consumption though, and while being perfect is impossible, we can take a stance to the best of our ability. I thrift most of my clothes for example, only excluding socks, underwear and active wear. I also buy my electronics second hand. I don't think the inability to be perfect should stop people from doing something.

/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:31 PM

I agree. Though I'm biased on that because I don't watch porn and my partner doesn't either. We're very compatible sexually so in a sense we have it easy. But that's because it wsd highly prioritised for us both when dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:29 PM
1

Obviously not. And as I said I am not blaming them. I am simply saying that social isolation doesn't help, and it's harmful since we're highly social beings by nature. I feel bad for men feeling stuck like that. It is tragic and I don't want to tell them to give up all hope, because change isn't impossible.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:27 PM
1

I get it tbh. There are things I wouldn't compromise on. For example if he started voting for xenophobic right wing parties. Some would say that politics is trivial and unimportant. For me it isn't, because it represents our fundamental values. That is something that I need to feel aligned on with my partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:24 PM

We're only in control of our own actions, and coercing people isn't ethical.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:21 PM

In the case of my friends, I suppose they found people who appreciated them. People with similar values and interests.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:20 PM

For some it could be s deal breaker. For others not. I am not speaking for myself here. I was never against my partner watching porn. I never even though about it. My boyfriend doesn't though, and I've come ro realise that I really appreciate that. While it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me personally, i can understand that it could be for someone else.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:19 PM

Neuroplasticity significantly decreases in your mid 20s however, so you're less prone to large and sudden change.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:17 PM

I second this.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:14 PM

I don't like ultimatums. I think that if she decides that their values don't align, it is her responsibility to make a choice, not to try to change him.

Positive exposure? As I said, I've seen it happen, and I'm not sure what enabled them to keep trying. Three men I know come to mind immediately.

/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:07 PM

No, I absolutely don't mean that's it's entirely self inflicted. Not at all. But rather that it can essentially "seal the deal".
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:07 PM
1

They have ups and downs, but if you cannot generally describe it as fulfilling I'd say it's time to let go.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:02 PM

That's entirely fair.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:01 PM
1

I agree.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:00 PM
1

But in that case the previous issue comes back up. How can you deceive someone that you feel love and affection for?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 03:00 PM
1

?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:59 PM
1

Indeed.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:59 PM

You could hsve issues with it without considering it cheating. It could be the morality issue first and foremost. But indeed if they're not having sex it wouldn't negatively affect their sex life, though perhaps the romantic dynamic, although I'm unsure of how it could withhold a lack of sex. I suppose I just don't think being in an unfulfilling relationship is > than being single.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:53 PM

Lol I'm sure some would be into that.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:50 PM

But you're creating a self fulfilling prophesy if you stay inside and never give yourself the chance to grow.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:50 PM

Do you think porn would be enough to make up for the lack of sex?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:49 PM
1

Then get a roommate. It's not the same. I've lived with a partner and I've had roommates. Your lives are fsr more intertwined when you're in a relationship and I can't fathom wanting that level of comitment, not just romantically, bit regarding future plans, work, how you spend your free time, finance etc if I didn't love someone. That sounds suffocating.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:48 PM

What if she changes her mind on the subject. Over time as she learns more about the industry for example, she becomes increasingly uncomfortable. Do you think it's wrong of her to leave him if they can't see eye to eye?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:46 PM

But that can change. I've seen it change with some of my male friends that I grew up with.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:45 PM
2

Well you're still wrong. Not all men watch porn. I agree that probably most do, but men aren't a monolith.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:44 PM

I agree. Just own it ✌️
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:43 PM

That completely changes the circumstances. Sex is more than PIV, so I don't see why sex would need to seize, but if it does, I think he is within his right to end it. It is sad to leave after someone's surgery, but at the same time I completely understand how it could make a romantic relationship unsustainable in the long run.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:42 PM
1

I just don't see the point. I have froenfsand family whom I love dearly. Why on earth would I share my space with someone I don't love? It makes zero sense.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:38 PM

Yeah I agree, hence my last point. Express your feelings, if you don't find common ground it is perfectly reasonable to leave.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:37 PM

If you're not having sex you've got bigger issues imo.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:36 PM

Maybe if some people weren't paralysed by these things they'd do better with actual relationships?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:35 PM
1

I just can't wrap my mind around disregarding the feelings of the person I love.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:34 PM

More examples please.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:33 PM

Nah. Who's got time for guilty pleasures? Just like what you like. You'll never please everyone no matter what you do.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:33 PM

I love puppies. My friend has a shiba inu puppy and he absolutely melts my heart.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:30 PM

idk what that means 🥲
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:28 PM

Let's say she does, in the process of explaining why she would like him not to watch it. Is it reasonable?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:27 PM
1

I think that's dishonest and unkind.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:26 PM

Do tell.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:25 PM

Of course he could lie. He could also lie about other things including cheating. Being dishonest to your partner about something that you know is important to them makes you a bad partner imo, and just generally a dishonest person. I suppose the best way to go about it for the woman would be to share her feelings about it, see what he thinks, see if he offers to change his consumption and if he doesn't, don't try to coerce him but decide if it's a deal breaker or not and make a decision.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:25 PM
1

But in this case, where he feels unfulfilled, it makes no sense for him to stay with her.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:22 PM

I am all for him breaking up. I think it was the only way. Continuing to shame and pressure her would be shitty and I think the same regarding porn. If he doesn't agree to, she's free to leave, not try to coerce him, so we agree there.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:20 PM

Interesting. What if she was "withholding" sex because the porn made her so uncomfortable that it killed her drive?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:18 PM

I appreciate the neuance. I am also very weary of controlling behaviour in relationships, so I get where you're coming from. I suppose I see it as relevant to general relationship boundaries, the same way it is to increase commitment or to discuss opening a relationship. And I guess I agree with you, because under those circumstances I think the way to go is to express your needs without demands and then see if you align. If you don't it is okay to walk away, but not to hover breaking up over th…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:16 PM

But if she expressed spesifically that it's something she's uncomfortable with, do you think it's similar to saying you ate one type of food when you ate another? This is something that is important to his partner and he knows she would feel betrayed by his lies.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:12 PM

That's not the issue in question. Sharing the texts is a matter of privacy and a separate debate. I see two main reasons to oppose porn. 1. it's an exploitative industry, for creators and consumers. 2. It conflicts with monogamy, being exclusively sexually and romantically involved with one person. Wearing a swimsuit to surf isn't comparable if you think for more than a second.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:10 PM

Not like today. What if she asked you not to consume porn with people in it, meaning hentai, comics, erotics etc is fine?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:04 PM

How unfortunate. Being dishonest with your partner like that says a lot about someone's character.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:03 PM

What happened to #notallmen?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:02 PM

That's very unfortunate. I would feel so guilty lying to my partner, it would eat me up inside.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:02 PM

That's fair enough. It sounds like you'd be able to have a good conversation and either come to an agreement or decide that the incompatibility is too significant.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 02:01 PM

With his hands? 🤷‍♀️ How do you think people masturbated in the past?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:59 PM

Do you think most men would lie instead of telling her no?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:58 PM

If he doesn't want to, then I agree. But do you think there might be men who have such a casual relationship to porn that it's hardly s big ask anyway? And what do you think about porn consumption and monogamy (romantic and sexual exclusivity)? Is it still monogsmy if he is paying OF models, requesting custom content, chatting etc?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:57 PM

She was a professional surfer and he was upset about her wearing swimwear... That's hardly comparable. But I agree that she shouldn't try to coerce him into changing his behavior. If he doesn't agree, there's s compatability issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:55 PM

I see. So if she said no real humans, but hentai, comics, erotica etc is fine?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:53 PM

But what if she explains why she feels that way and he gets it, and because he loves her he's happy to do it? I feel like porn is a special area in regards to control, because it can have significant impacts on a relationship, and the point of monogamy is romantic and sexual exclusivity?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:50 PM

It's always funny when certain guys do both. Women are so degenerate! Now let me watch her get insert porn term.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:48 PM

Then he should break up? I also think severely mismatched libidos (over time, not talking about reduced libido because of grief, illness etc) are a good reason to break up as well. But I rank sexual compatability very high.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:47 PM

Silly me, I forgot how porn saved women.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:44 PM

So if he wasn't cool with it and she tells him it makes her uncomfortable and ends the relationship rather than trying to pressure him, would you say that is fair?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:42 PM

But he could still masturbate? What if she's typically a 4 times a week sort of person while he prefers 6. Is it unreasonable to ask it then? Again, masturbation isn't off the table, just consuming porn.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:39 PM

Fair!
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:37 PM

What makes you say that?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:37 PM

What if her feelings changed on the issue? Would it be reasonable for her to ask him? If he tells her that isn't what he signed up for, do you support her breaking up?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:36 PM

That's cool that you had the conversation earlier on!
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/25 01:35 PM

Where do you draw the line? What if she has a pretty average libido and his is above average? (obviously he can still masturbate) As for asking to get lied to, that's pretty messed up ngl. If he isn't okay with it, then I think he owes her to tell her as much. If you don't have trust in your relationship you have nothing.

But the ones that struggle, who make efforts but still have a rough time, do you blame them or can you feel some sympathy? You're quite online, so I would have though you'd understand at least to some extent that for some it's not as simple as "go outside snd talk to people". Generally speaking, I have found that encouragement is more effective than shaming people.

Honestly it feels sort of alien to me, since I don't get the appeal of casual sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 03:40 PM

Ok. Maybe I'm just too romantic 🤷‍♀️
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 03:22 PM

Not as far as I know. I've only heard him mentioned as a joke.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 03:21 PM

Do you blame ipad kids for being ipad kids?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:43 PM

I had that many times in the Netherlands in the summer. It was hell, but my skin looked fantastic.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:41 PM

EFT, baby 😎
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:40 PM

I'm not sure tbh. Less than the Netherlands, but still noticeable.

/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:31 PM

I hate humidity, but my skin loves it.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:26 PM

Good sense of humour and cute? She'll be fine.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:24 PM

I don't think so.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:23 PM

I think it's mostly about finding someone you're compatible with. An ex of mine had a lower libido and need for hugs/kisses/cuddles than me. There were other issues too, but it certainly didn't help.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 02:14 PM

Hope you feel better soon! :(

Just a couple on the top of my head: hustle culture, hyper individualism, comodification of people as little more than labourers, phone addiction, fewer spaces and opportunities to socialise outside of work, car culture...
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 01:59 PM

<image> The door looks like this. No gender sign. No toilet sign at all on this one, but it's obvious because it's the only door accessible to customers.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 01:59 PM

No urinals. I moved on to a different place. Here's the toilet at a cafe I'm working at rn. <image>
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 01:58 PM

Newer builds and renovated builds don't do men's toilets anymore. It's gender neutral rooms (not stalls).
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 01:00 PM

An increase in autism diagnosis does not equal a rise in autism. As for loneliness, do you genuinely believe it's simply a result of laziness and not a number of cultural and socioeconomic factors, or are you just being facetious?

<image> Thank you, public toilet.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 12:50 PM

I can't relate. I never get tired of physical intimacy with my partner, sexual or otherwise. And I think I get more physical pleasure from sex than most men. Higher sensitivity, multiple orgasms etc.

One thing I love about springtime is all the cute herds of dads walking around with their babies in strollers around the city on paternity leave. Men with babies are really good at forming social groups.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/25 11:42 AM

Indeed... But also I read that more millennials are actual leftists than previous generations when they got up in the years. Meanwhile gen z is getting boomerfied 🥲 and the political gap between men and women is growing. I wonder if that gap is a big part of gen z dating issues? As a so called zillenial, it hasn't really been a big problem in my dating (although I have rejected two men because of their politics). My boyfriend is on the left, not as far as me, but he is on issues that I wouldn't …

A house. When she first moved there, after deciding the big city wasn't for her, she moved into a tiny old cottage. Since then she's moved into a more normal house. It gets crazy cold up there, so idk if a tent is even survivable. It is a tiny village of a few farms in the woods.

This reminds me of when I was looking for a housemate, and I interviewed this one guy. He was funny, had a stable job, friends, played chess, clean. All good. He was oddly enthusiastic about moving in though, quote "I feel like I am supposed to live herewith you, like it's meant to be". So I casually mentioned that one perk would be that I'd be away many weekends because I was seeing someone. Suddenly he didn't want to move in anymore because his bedroom didn't have a balcony lol.

Because they're cute and smart. Crows in japan started dropping nuts on the pedestrian crossing, then wait for the lights to turn green for the cars so they'd drive across, cracking te nuts open. Then they'd wait again for the lights to turn red to hop down and eat the nuts.

It's about a 13 year old boy who stabs his classmate to death. Instead of a who's done it, it is a why did he do it. There's an episode looking at his toxic school environment, an episode with a psychologist examining his opinions and perception, and an episode exploring the family dynamics, with a father with anger issues and a meek mother trying and failing to keep the peace. Pressures to live up to stereotypical masculine ideals is explored too. What really ticked people off is that incel cul…

I do see how that could be a great option for many. But religion doesn't appeal to everyone. Some alternatives I see here however is local youth or regular polotical parties, team sports, hiking groups and cooking groups, where people take turns hosting dinner but everyone cooks together. We need more and more people need to dare to seek things out.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/25 07:58 AM
1

Indeed, and it's devastating. We need to make it easier to find a real sense of belonging with other people, face to face. We're social animals, and loneliness is horribly destructive.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 09:34 PM

Speaking from my own experience, I learned a lot about my own sexuality, needs and preferences from the relationships I've been in. What I thought I knew without experience was far from the informed truth. I had no clue what I liked, and I've learned that sexual compatibility is incredibly important for relationship longevity.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 07:19 PM
2

It depends on the reason. Need time and a deeper emotional connection? I get that. I'll happily wait. Virgin? Probably not. I want someone to make an informed choice about me, so I like someone with some experience. Mind you I'm in my late 20s. Waiting until marriage? Absolutely not. I need to know if we're sexually compatible before making a commitment like that.

I think the biggest loss (but ofc not the only) of moving is community, family, friends, so if you don't have very strong bonds to begin with, I think it is definitely worth considering.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:58 PM
1

I get that. One friend in particular that I was thinking of made the move after a really bad burnout. I am not sure how he found the spark to do it, but it payed off very fast. In less than six months he was living somewhere where he felt appreciated at work and in his social life. He also got more interest than ever from women, which wasn't the goal, but a nice bonus.

/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:50 PM

I think this is cultural. Norway used to have very small differences between people. A carpenter would basically live the same as a doctor and so on. When we create massive gaps, people start stepping on each other out of fear for being on the bottom, and that hurts us all in the end.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:50 PM
1

Fuck, that's intense.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:48 PM

If that is the case, I would try hard to find a way to move somewhere I felt more at home and appreciated. I have friends who've done that, and it is tough but worth it.

I am am one of those demi people. Whether a label is needed for a very common style of attraction idk. But because I am demi, I never engaged in casual sex. My quality of life was very high and very much dependent on my friends and family. I would say that platonic relationships are the cake, and romantic relationships are the frosting. He mentions in the video too how some men fall into the trap of having their romantic partner become their only emotional outlet, and how that results in a lot o…

/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:35 PM

We used to be much more present for one another. We helped and dared asking for help. We had each other's backs in a way that is rare to see today. Beyond that, I notice that single women are not lonely like men are. I think that's in large part because women are encouraged to build very intimate platonic relationships, ever since we're tiny, so we have much more emotional support than most men.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:31 PM

Norwegian young men (18-20) are 10 centimeters taller than their grandads were when they were that age.

That's what you got out of that video? What I got out of it is that we collectively need to get better at community building.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:21 PM

I see. I think the shortest adult I know is just under 160cm. But people are tall here. I don't think it's unusual for women to be shorter than that in east asia.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:19 PM

He does offer some solutions, not only asking for accountability from men, but also for societal acknowledgement of how we're setting men up to be lonely.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:18 PM

How short do you have to be to be technically a dwarf?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:14 PM

Interesting. To be fair, my family does have a lot of tall women. I am 173cm (5'8) and I'm the short one.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:11 PM

Put it on 2x speed. It's only 13 minutes 🥲
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 04:10 PM

One thing I noticed on my dads side of the family, and in my close family, is that the youngest sibling is the tallest, regardless of gender. I am taller than my big brother, my little sister is taller than me. My female younger cousin is taller than my male older cousin and vice versa (my dad has a lot of siblings).

Wigs are an underrated solution to drastic hair change urges!
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 02:39 PM

Ahh yeah that might be a little tricky. I mean you absolutely can dye it darker, but you have to be ready for frequent touch ups to avoid the balding look.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 02:33 PM

Look up ghost roots!
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 02:20 PM

Same girl. I think if I ever wanted to dye my hair again I'd just do something funky with lowlights(except darker) or something similar and keep the roots as is.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 02:15 PM

Boasting about an ex is so weird. Look here's a person things didn't work out with
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/25 02:13 PM

I dyed it brown once when I was 14. When it started growing out, my blonde roots made it look like I was balding 🙃 So I got it stripped back to blonde, which normally fries your hair, but on me it came right off without making my hair crispy. The hairdresser was shocked. I guess my hair just really didn't like the brown lol.

Tbh I was passive at first too. But I drowned in "Hey", messages or other generic openers, so instead of digging though it all to look for the interesting messages, I started over, became more intentional with my swiping and took matters into my own hands. It didn't take long from there, so I really think it's the best way.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 06:18 PM
3

When I was on OLD I almost always sent the first message. 1. Because I feel like it is the polite thing to do when you swipe right and instantly match. 2. Because it allowed me to set the tone. I wasn't interested in "Hey, what's up?" type conversations, so by messaging first I could immediately steer things away from that. I don't understand why women wouldn't do that. It is much more efficient.

That's sad. But I've heard similar things about London. Maybe it's a big city thing? I've only lived in small to medium sized cities. The largest was The Hague in the Netherlands, and I feel like it's more relaxed.

There are studies on dating apps. What are you talking about?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 04:44 PM
1

No. I didn't specify enough apparently. A published study in a peer reviewed journal. I hope that clarifies that calibre I'm looking for.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 04:42 PM
3

I think I might forego the apps if I was a man. Most of the men I know that got into relationships the last two years met irl, through work or sports.

/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 04:32 PM

A study with a large sample randomly selected people, not done by the apps themselves but by independent researchers.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 04:32 PM
2

I see. Yeah... It is easier to stay fit here, because of a bunch of things like walkability, easy access to healthy food, a culture for cooking at home and free time to do sports. Dating in the US seems tricky, even for the simple fact that people appear to spend less time outside their work/house/car.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 04:31 PM
1

I think we're coming from vastly different cultures, not only dating cultures. What you're describing isn't the case here, where men btw are fatter than women, but most people in cities are pretty fit, men and women (Norway).
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 03:57 PM

The little tits are looking at me 👀
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 03:31 PM
1

That's very cultural. In Norway women are more proactive than men. Cold approaching isn't a thing without alcohol, but approaching at work or through friends and hobbies is still vdry much a thing. Men tend to be more shy than women here for some reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 03:30 PM
2

To be honest with the state pf the world, perhsps a different system wouldn't be a bad idea. Everything including people has become commodified, community is dying and people feel disconnected not only from eachother but also from themselves. If it isn't serving us, maybe it's time to move on.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 03:15 PM

If women are meeting people irl, presumably those people are mostly men?

When I was on OLD I got a pretty good mix of people in my "feed". I was periodically checking it for a few months, and I felt like it represented the people I see out and about pretty well (I wss swiping on men and women). As for attractiveness, I think more women put in a lot of effort on their appearance than men, which might affect those numbers. Lets ignore more subjective aspects of beauty and just consider fitness, as most people prefer fitter bodies. In my experience couples tend to be pr…

/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 02:50 PM

It absolutely doesn't. You admitted that the casual user, which is most users, wouldn't spend time on that website. If the typical user isn't represented, then obviously the numbers can't be used to make generalisations.

Do you not know any average men in relationships? I actually don't know very many single men (my friends are mostøy 25-35).
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 01:24 PM

I've heard of this. Don't you think it might be considerably skewed, since it's a self selecting sample? I imagine the average user is far too casual about it to bother with something like this. It would never cross my mind, and I'm someone who's interested in data and the topic of dating.

I still know plenty of couples who met at work, at uni, through friends or a shared hobby. But yes, apps can be good for women. What I like most about them is the opportunity to meet people you'd be less likely to meet organically. People working in different fields, living in different areas etc.

Not really. But the public health is a very popular subject here.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 11:15 AM

Danish researchers have analysed the content of fast food meals from 184 restaurants around the country. Despite of strict EU food regulations, the nutritional findings were so bad that they concluded that an adult shouldn't eat fast food more than once a month at most. You sound like you have the right ideas already. I like it when people strike up a conversation, even if I am not interested, it is lovely to connect with people. If someone gets grumpy about it, you know they are not the kind of person you'd care to impress anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 09:54 AM

I remember as a little kid I liked it when a show or film had a character that looked like me. As an adult it doesn't cross my mind, but I've always been overrepresented. I can imagine that of I never saw myself represented growing up I might be more aware of it as an adult.

Confidence, not arrogance, makes quite a difference. It's mostly about feeling comfortable and at ease in your skin, because that makes other people feel more relaxed too. People are sponges, so if you're very anxious it can make other people uncomfortable too, even if they can't put a finger on it. It really sucks when you struggle, but the best way to work on it is exposure. Unfamilliar settings and scenarios are more difficult than familliar ones.

Men have been the biggest recipients of care in the social discourse where I live in recent years. Men are lonely, they're unemployed, they're depressed and suicidal, they're insecure and don't know their place in the world, school is not made for them* are all hot topics every day in mainstream media and on social media. She wants his views on masculinity, his views that have not only been formed by online crap, but also throughout his childhood. I disagree with the premise that the song is trying to say something about all or even most men.The behaviour, including false incompetence, is real, and harmful to many, but it is by far not the norm. I really like the song. I love to see avenues for people to stand up for themselves though art and creativity. The world needs more of it. Another line that really hit is "It's not an act of love if you make her". It's vague enough that it can simply be interpreted as her being made to take care of him and everything else at her own expense, or it's a brilliantly simple way to touch on the subject of sexual coercion and abuse in romantic relationships. There's no lack of studies showing that women spend more hours on housework and childcare than men, dispite working full time. Denying that is just willful ignorance. I think a lot of the discourse around the show latched on to the manosphere part as well as the name drop of Tate, because of how current it is. My favourite episode, and where I feel like we learn the most about why he did it was the episode with the psychologist. We learn about his temperament as he loses it repeatedly. We learm how he simultaneously sees himself as better and worse than his peers. "Most people are stupid", "I am the ugliest so people bully me", "I asked her out when she was w…

That's where you're missing the neuance. The show isn't simply pinning the murder on the manosphere, tate or any singular person or thing. They show us a boy who's grown up with some pretty dysfunctional family dynamics with an ill tempered dad to whom he was never "masculine" enough, and a passive doormat of a mum who never stands up for herself or her children. His school environment is toxic and abusive, he only has male friends in a similar situation, and he consumed blackpill content, which…

Once my swipe rate slowed down i didn't swipe at all if I was talking with someone. I initiated 9/10 conversations by the end too. I just let conversations naturally round off if there wasn't a vibe. I never saw the point of unmatching anyone, because it only put them back in the dating pool and it somehow felt like a harsh thing to do? Last part was probably just in my head.

I wasn't using the apps very diligently. Firstly, I was too open when I started using them and got flooded with matches who just sent a "hey" or "what's up?". I turned off notifications and checked every few days at most. If a conversation was going well, I would move it off the apps right away to WhatsApp or instagram so that I would receive notifications. If a conversation didn't move off the apps after the first chat, it never went anywhere. I'm not saying this was ideal, and I became more an…

For some reason I can't eat fried eggs. They make me feel nauseous. Boiled or poached runny eggs, no problem. Scrambled is fine too.

I do, yes. I know people whom have started up by themselves, but tbh the increase in salary does not outweigh the hours spent to run your own practice. I have insane flexibility where I work already, so I can basically do whatever I want as long as I see the minimum amount of required clients, which is honestly half of my capacity.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 04:07 PM

Tbh I don't know much about how it works, because it's never been personally relevant. My boyfriend has one of those freelance buisness things, because he conducts and performs outside his "normal" job at the orchestra.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 03:57 PM
1

Hahah I would but you have to pay someone to do your accounting and taxes if you open up a buisness here, plus a fee for opening the buisness. Wouldn't save me money. We have this thing called a freelancer buisness thing with fewer requirements, but that only let's you shop there if you can document that you need what you want to buy strickly for buisness purposes.

I have mostly just stopped talking about nutrition with anyone besides my dietician. People believe some weird shit, they don't fact check anything, and then they try to convince others that they have all the answers, whether it's about fat, sugar, protein, superfoods or some other fad.

I feel like a lot of men struggle to be alone compared to women. I wonder why. It's not like my dad was relying on a partner to have a social life.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 01:22 PM
1

Oh no, my dad has options. Lots of them too. He's still handsome, he is fit and healthy, he is financially solid, he has cool hobbies, he is extroverted and makes friends with everyone, he is kind and funny and openminded, he is the life of the party. He just doesn't know how to be alone, so he rushed into the first option.

Most women have no interest in getting fingered in public. I'm honestly a little shocked that doesn't go without saying.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 12:56 PM

I think it was right for her. She ended the marriage, she wanted to rediscover parts of herself. Getting entangled romantically with a new person right away isn't the best way to do that. by the time she met her boyfriend she was solid in her shoes, happy, confident and she knew exactly what she did and didn't want (I like her boyfriend more than I like my dad's girlfriend, with whom he rushed into a relationship with way too quickly imo). My mum was picky, and it served her incredibly well.

My mum actually chose to stay single a lot longer than my dad did. She was happy living her best life and not looking for a man. She just happened to meet someone who fit right into it. She would still have been happy if they didn't meet. After the divorce she thrived in a way I've never seen her before.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 12:38 PM

That's a different discussion. My parents have kids and it was fine. It didn't cause us any problems at all, because my parents were mature and considerate in how they handled it.

I think one reason divorce doesn't scare me is because I've seen it go really well. My mum divorced my dad. It was about time imo, not because my dad is bad, he's actually great! But because they simply weren't making eachother happy. They are very different people, and not in a "we complete eachother" sort of way. I don't doubt that the first few months were tough, but they're both so much better off. My mum moved to the city, where she could be closer to her friends, to her favorite activities…

That's more complicated. Two movable layers instead of one. Just get a feather summer duvet. Super thin, airy, light and breathable and add a linen or cotton cover and voila ✨
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 09:37 AM
1

What is your bedding?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 09:14 AM
1

No not all. Here it is quite a bit more minimalistic haha but you can still change things up by rotating different coloured and patterned duvet/pillow cover sets as you wash them. Some people use decorative pillows and blankets but it's far from most and seen as overkill.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 09:14 AM
2

Oh pretty! I like the colours. My mum always said: I don't understand why americans like to share farts 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 09:08 AM
2

Nope no sheets. The duvet cover is basically like a pillow cover for the duvet, so it stays in place and is as easy to wash as a sheet. I'm glad you wash your pillows! I'm sure most people do. Also we do separate duvets. That way you can wrestle it all you want without disturbing your partner. <image>
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 08:44 AM
3

It's unnecessarily complicated. Just use a mattress cover, a duvet with a duvet cover and call it a day. Oh and not all the decorative pillows that don't get cleaned frequently.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 08:29 AM
2

The layers. I just have a duvet with a duvet cover that I change every week along with the mattress cover. If I were to introduce a sheet or blanket I'd be a tanhled mess by the time I woke up. And the comforter, which doesn't get washed regularly is only separated by a movable sheet?? Maybe I just move too much but I find it icky.

I will never not think American bedding is weird.

I've to yet to meet a single grown up woman who wants that. Have you got anything substantial to do back that claim? And let's take your logic further. If you encountered some women who wanted to be raped by you. Not roleplay. Would that make it okay for some guys to rape because you never know if she's the kind that wants it?

One guy kept messaging me for weeks after I told him I wasn't interested in a second date. When he saw that I started seeing my boyfriend on my stories, he relentlessly spammed me, monologuing, demanding that I justify why "that guy gets a chance while I don't". He concluded without my response that it must have been because I saw him eat and I probably got the ick, when in really he was just boring and up is own ass. I can't say I felt guilty for ghosting him.

When we were playing house I refused to be mommy. Only sister, cat or bunny lol. That's fair. I can't relate. Don't get me wrong, I've experienced intense immediate chemistry with someone. I just wouldn't call that love.

So if you see someone and they inspire some romantic fantasy, you're still not in love with that person. You're in love with your own imagination.

They often have superficial charm, which can draw people in, but if you get close there will be pain. So would women find a narcissist attractive if they showed all their cards? Nah. They're deceptive, that's a part of it. A friend of mine experienced narcissistic abuse from his ex girlfriend. Of course she seemed lovely and charming at first, then things slowly got worse and worse until he finally cut things off with her. The damage she did was horrible and it took him a long time to feel ok ab…

That was painful to read 😭 do you think I'm stupid? FUCKING YES
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 08:35 AM
3

Yes, I'm well aware. The reason why masking is often experienced as particularly burdensome for autistuc people is because of the extent to which they may do it and because some of the learned behaviours strongly contradict with their own needs and inclinations. One example is supressing stimming, and yes, everyone engages in self stimulating behavior, but it's about scale as well as it's emotional regulatory impact.

Regarding neuroatypicals, it is a matter if degree. Are there more low support need autistic girls perhaps? I'm not sure. Is it easier or do they make more of an effort due to pressue? I also don't know. I sort of addressed the bias thing in another comment. Research is far from perfect, but there is a curiosity there and intention of greater understanding. Read with a critical eye and it can be immensely useful. And yes, some of it is shit. That's where we have things like peer reviewing and sy…

I was a weird girl. I struggled fitting in and I was bullied for it. Most of my bullies were boys. At a certain point in puberty I started being considered physically attractive and that's when the boys stopped bullying me and only the girls remained. To be frank, the largest bias in research is not including women and girls at all. It is only in recent years that women have started to be consistently included. That doesn't discount that there may be areas in research with a negative bias agains…

Easier can mean multiple things: Do they more easily notice, analyse, grasp and replicate social norms? Is it more interesting to them and therefore less burdensome? Girls have been shown to exhibit more pro-social behaviour than boys on average. It's been studied and replicated again and again. Same goes for masking. That doesn't make girls better than boys however. If a girl is pressured into agreeable behaviour, sometimes to her own detriment, does that make her a better person? It is also im…

Anyway I'd be curious to see how gender effects your treatment too. From personal experience regarding women, I have noticed that girls tend to get heavily bullied as kids and teenagers, if they're pretty they might have a phase of being idolised and sexualised as a manic pixie dream girl in their young adult years, and if they're not conventionally attractive or old they get more silent judgement, looks, exclusion etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/25 07:59 PM
2

I said we don't know the cause of the masking, not that it doesn't happen more in girls. It does. Is it because it's easier? Are women just more agreeable by nature? Are they conditioned? Who knows. When surveying for masking, the emphasis isn't on how good you are at it, but how much you do it. Do you do this in that situation in order to fit in, how about that in this other situation, usually always checking how it affects them, making them tired, uncomfortable etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/25 07:53 PM

The control group is there to confirm the experience of masking for neuroatypical people. In gender based studies male or femalr control groups are used. Being good at masking can be an advantage, but I want to stress that it can be very harmful as well. Burnout, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, suicide, being so agreeable that you get into dangerous situations and sexually victimised, end up in an abusive relationship and so on. It isn't about men or women being better. It has simply been…

Women and girls are generally considered better at masking because they more often than men go under the radar for super long. Women may get mkre empathy, but there are many studies that show how little girls behaviour, especially social behaviour us scrutinised and rewarded/punished more than that of boys, because there is a social expectation for girls to be more sociable, more agreeable and more pro social. No, masking isn't limited to autism. Is it easier for girls to mask or is there more p…

Masking is basically the conscious learning and replication of social behaviour that neurotypicals tent do conform to without effortlessly without a thought (which varies from culture to culture). This mimicry requires effort and energy and is often at the expense of ones own needs and preferences. Of course people generally make efforts to be socially acceptable, but autistic people often do it to a much larger degree, very consciously, and it is strongly associated with burnout. A very stereot…

I asked men earlier, no worries. There is sex. It is infrequent, bland and always the same, but it's consistent. Your conversation is dull, mostly practical, about things that need doing. You coexist pretty peacefully, but there's no spark.

If you like it, it isn't meh. I'm not talking about society's opinion of what is meh, but whatever would feel meh to you personally.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/25 05:05 PM

No sparks. You mostly just coexist and the most romantic thing you do in a regular week is to sit in the same sofa scrolling. You have really boring and infrequent sex that is always the same. She is polite, but not affectionate. Conversation is dull or just practical, about things that need to be done around the house etc.

The thing I like most about English is the variety. A Scottish person doesn't sound like a Kiwi, doesn't sound like a Jamaican, doesn't sound like a Canadian, doesn't sounds like a Singaporean. Furthermore, being so widely spoken you get lots of cute, funny, and cool accents from non-native speakers too. I think it's beautiful 🌈

Both can be true. It's pretty well documented that girls mask more and sooner. As a result they're diagnosed much later on average. That doesn't mean that men don't face more pressure to initiate, and that this role can be particularly difficult if you struggle socially.

Germany really is a socially anxious person's worst nightmare. They don't only look like they're judging you, they are 🥲 I have so many examples.
