I’m with you in that boat, brother. Wife and I mutually decided over the phone while she was out of town. Yesterday was her first day back (came home a day early) and it was ROUGH. Even though I wanted this, it’s still so hard.

Hopefully to make many mistakes, but this is my first time at this particular rodeo, so I’m sure there will be some. Just hoping there’s not too many / too severe.

Yeah, I’m talking to a lawyer now, and it’ll likely be done before a move (can go quickly here with no minor kids) but I’m just wondering if I should bring it up to her before I finish up the plan with the lawyer and I’m ready to file.

That's good advice...I do have a new email that's fairly clean, but maybe I'll setup on just for divorce traffic that's not on any of my devices, since we're open device in the house.

Yeah that’s my worry too. Of course some is just inertia, but they say the woman you divorce is never the same one that you married.

Yeah, that's my biggest worry at this point. I'm hoping I've built enough of a connection over the decades, but I can totally understand they would pick their birth mother if forced to "choose". Not that I plan on forcing a choice, but SHE might.

Thank you for this. That list is super helpful. Thankfully no custody involved as our kids are older. My big worry is access to the grandkids, but that'll be on the kids after the dust settles.

Thankfully no kids involved (well, there are, but they're older / hers from a previous marriage). Honestly my biggest worry at this point is access to the grandkids, but that'll be up to our sons (I consider them "mine" as I've been in their lives for over 28 years at this point) and what they want to do.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
