You're making an error in awarding quantitative reality to a subjective scale. Think about it like that scene in Spinal Tap where there's the amp that goes to 11. In that scene, the director suggests making "11 the new 10." Well... in a world where there are no 10s or 9s or 8s... 7 is the new 10. They don't get a sense of entitlement... they are actually entitled.

I'm actually pretty sure I'd agree with that advice. Male or female, husband or wife. GF... I'd leave them. I don't want to be with anyone that mentally ill. Life's too short to make someone else's problems your problems.

The wall is a process not a thing. Yes, the wall is obviously physical. People are prone to weight gain over time, but there's also a rate at which even fit people lose skin elasticity, where sun damage builds up, moles form, teeth yellow, the first bridgework starts to appear, knees, elbows, wrists start to go, hair loss occurs and so on. By 40 it's mostly done, a person has gone from young to clearly middle-aged. No amount of working out is going to change the fact that a woman's skin has unde…

She's not crazy. Her behaviors are entirely explicable. For about three days, she thought she was nailing Chad Thundercock. When he started getting clingy and lost all frame, she realized she had inadvertently fucked a beta bitch a good two numbers lower than her (she's a six and he's a four). Cue her hamster going into overdrive. At this point, she probably believes that she didn't fuck him. She clearly has a visceral, physical reaction to him. Like she said: he's disgusting. She hates him for …

I don't stand for half of that. I like traditional male and female roles. I strongly dislike seeing emotion in men. I would never seriously consider entering a relationship with a woman who had been promiscuous (even long long ago). I also don't care about the feelings of others. If others are upset, so the fuck what.

True, but the research is too old to take seriously academically. It's probably fine to use in an argument with someone who isn't trained in research, but since we will typically attack out-of-date sources, we probably should avoid using them ourselves.
/r/MensRights23/07/15 12:19 PM
-1

Why not link to the actual PDF of the source rather than to someone citing it? As far as research goes, it's 14 year old data and is probably no longer reliable enough to use in a fact-based argument. It probably wasn't even a safe bet to use at the time of the linked article either. George, M. J., & Yarwood, D. J., (2004) Male Domestic Violence Victims Survey 2001: Main Findings. Why would even 4% date someone who was unemployed? I don't care much what sort of job a person has, but I would never even consider even for a second dating someone who was unemployed, and I'd probably break up with someone who lost a job.

/r/MGTOW15/07/15 01:41 AM

I think that the best thing to do under the circumstances would be to break up immediately. A) few relationships could survive the initial rape trauma. B) even fewer relationships would be worth a four month recovery period without cheating. C) Rape like so many other traumas cause lasting damage. I would never willingly date anyone damaged by trauma, mental disorders, abuse, physical or health problems. Just not worth being anyone's support system. Plenty of undamaged people out there.

American women are undatable horrors. I have an Asian girlfriend. She's beautiful, funny, very young, and yet does not have the CC time that even equally young western women would have. Penn State-Abington One also wonders what the hell she has been doing to be an associate professor after so many years of service. My value came from job and education (some high status jobs start off disproportionately slow with many hours and responsibilities and relatively modest pay). By the end of our relationship, I was making more than her, but to her credit, her income has never dropped below six figures. Child support is what it is... add the incomes, subtract the difference, figure out who has the kid most of the time... and consult a table.

This advice seems spot on but personal experience gives a little insight into why it might very well be bad advice some of the time. I married a 29 year old woman who was quickly heading to the wall. She didn't have kids, hadn't been married, had a good university degree (over $100k in debt that her parents 100% magically cleared) and a six figure income. She even owned her own house. I was coming from a poor family background, I wasn't making a ton of money at that point, and I was divorced wit…

It's always funny to see someone mention EQ as if it's an actual thing. EQ was invented in the mid-to-late 1980s to measure conformity to the social norms of whoever was designing the research instrument. Brief Field Report. I was out at lunch with a bunch of people with whom I had been vaguely associated. I am a professional and must occasionally socialize with people in the same field, but who do not work in the same workplace. Since I am at the top of my profession, by necessity I'm over 40. …

Adjunct means nothing. Adjunct means cannot get job and instead pretends to be a professor for 2-3 thousand dollars per TERM. If an adjunct teaches 5 classes per term and covers 2 in the summer, an adjunct can make about $36k per year. Look, I have a doctorate in the humanities, but I'm realistic. My field isn't a hard science and neither is yours. And as such, neither carry the same gravitas and you know it. Research in the behavioral sciences is highly subjective, mostly based on surveys, includes self-reported data and so on. Forgive me, but that's not even remotely the same as chemistry or physics.

Because psychology is what is formally known as a social and behavioral science. As in it is not an actual physical, natural, hard or applied science. Ask any psychologist at the doctoral level. My little boy is only 6, so it makes sense to protect kids a bit. Keep them away from a significant other until his or her significance is known.

That's true. She has every right to have rules for the people who want to date her. I respect that 100%. No debate. No caveats. No nonsense. Everyone has the right to set up their own rules for dating.

That's why the next sentence should always be: let's buy another one and make sure. And I'm betting the tests that are being sold are the cheap, shitty ones so she can turn more of a profit.

Okay… but if only one person wants to be an an open marriage, then perhaps the marriage never should take place. If only one person thinks the husband should be in charge of the finances, then perhaps the marriage should never take place. People get into relationship problems when one person either tries to subvert the will or another or actually manages to temporarily do so. Gender and orientation do not matter in this. People need to naturally agree on the big ticket issues or they need to not…

"For a number of people, having children isn't something they stand firm on, and they can adapt to someone else's wishes without it harming the relationship." Well, by god, it should be. And yes, compromise on an issue such as this one is an invitation to disaster and heartbreak. Life is too short. There are plenty of people out there. No one needs to compromise on an issue this important. It shouldn't happen.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more that her lying is also disgusting. This is a situation that could have been easily evaded by ending the relationship when this basic incompatibility became evident.

I've been married twice and divorced twice. The first time I tried so hard to meet issues half way, to negotiate, to change and so on. She divorced me. The second time, it took a while, but I realized that it was unfair to ask anyone to change a major part of their personality or lifestyle for me, so I divorced her. I hold firm to that now. Obviously, some common sense should be used, but if there is a massive difference (and I would definitely include a diet issue like dating a vegetarian), I'd…

Yeah. If he had said, look, I don't think we're really on the same page as each other on this issue… you know… if you think changing that part of you is good idea, I'm not cool with that. I don't think people should make those sorts of changes in thought to suit another person. Yes. He should have ended it before it got out of hand. Jesus, people. If the shoe was on the other foot and it was a guy tricked into a pregnancy, you'd be up in collective arms. We want equality. Not special treatment. …

No, he's not shitty about that. He's shitty in that he let a relationship that obviously was going to go south proceed on its merry way until everyone was damaged by it.

The guy in the OP seems pretty shitty. The woman seems like she was trying to cope, came up with what she thought was an okay solution, which in reality was more than a little fucked up. This could have been easily handled by the two of them not having a relationship starting when the original conversation took place. True equality is not meeting half way, not compromising, but finding someone who is a good match.

Wilbert Vere Awdry wrote the first book in 1945. I'm sure that there's no better use we could find for a time machine than to tell him that he needs to consider little girls taking up engineer jobs in 2013. Tally ho!

As a side note, I'm currently reading Wendy Lower's Hitler's Furies. It's a rather idiotic title, but Lower is John K. Roth Professor of History at Claremont McKenna. I honestly don't know how it got published considering how utterly it destroys the German woman as victim narrative in Nazi Germany. It is an amazing and exceptionally scholarly book.

That's sad. Women have to be "warned" about men being present… I think if someone told me that my existence made them uncomfortable, I'd probably tell them to get stuffed.

The Occidental form does not autosubmit to the police, it submits to the campus, which due to "President" Obama's idiocy, operates on a clearly unconstitutional "preponderance of evidence" standard rather than a "beyond reasonable doubt" standard. Remember that these campus kangaroo courts typically suspend students during investigations, deny due process, exclude legal council and refuse direct examinations of accusers and appeals. The machinery of those sorts of abuses must be smashed wherever…

The goal is to deliberately destroy a McCarthyite abortion that appears to gleefully violate one of the cornerstones of American justice, the right to face your accuser. The only reaction to /b vandalizing it should be cheers.

Yeah. I'm staunchly opposed to the concept of monolithic privilege, and, indeed, disagree with the sociological notion of clear demographic groups based on race, ethnicity, so-called class, gender and the like.

I hadn't realized until now that the term had been taken from psychiatry. I thought it was a made-up term used by people who got freaked out by advertising in Cosmo.

It really doesn't matter who is responsible for say um... Prostate cancer, though I strongly suspect that it just might be the Y chromosome. MRA are interested in advocating for testing, research, support and understanding. Ditto incarceration. When a man commits a crime a man does his time, but perhaps through educational reform and legal reform, the road to criminality may be avoided. MRAs, at least responsible ones, do not blame women for the problems and challenges faced by men unless it is …

Child support payments should be audited. For years I paid a woman to go to the bars three nights a week. But alas, there's nothing that can be done about it.

If someone defames you in any way and you have the resources to sue, and are able to make a case under your local laws, you have a moral obligation to sue.

The basic problem with this is that male participation in higher education seriously lags behind female participation. It is a serious problem and it is getting worse. Reaching out through comics is a gender appropriate way to reach young men.
