Thank you! I'm a feminist but do not agree at all with the path feminism is on. I come here because I agree with what the movement is about and most of the people in this community have very good heads on their shoulders. Seeing comments like this shut down makes ma happy because we need well rounded people to speak up and not just the extreme on both sides. Thank you!

I hate to say it because I'm bipolar and I know we have a bad rep too but the people who I know that are borderline along with stories I have heard about the extent they will go to are not worth the trouble and it's as simple as that. I also am extremely offended when I pick up on people trying to manipulate me so usually things don't get too involved but I still have a few in my circle.

This is what I was just wondering myself. Is being a rape victim a sort of catch 22 situation where if you are raped you aren't as likely to go and report it than women who think they may have been? Interesting to think about.

What does having the ability and willingness to kill exactly have to do with governing? Just wondering?????

Ummm woman here! I actually did hurricane work and was the only woman on every crew I worked on. It's really fucking hard to find a way into the boys club. Not only did I need lots of street cred to ever get hired but while everyone was on their coffee break I was working. When you are a woman working a man's job you never take a break and you are constantly gossiped about, grabbed, poked and asked on dates and you need to take everything like a man. I just don't think it's easy for a woman to g…

What would your boss do if a woman asked for a job? I used to work physically demanding all male jobs. I had to work really hard, smart and fast to keep up with everyone. Basically they chatted and took breaks and I didn't. I hopped around wood mills and unloaded trucks and did demolition for ten years but after I had a baby I got soft. I work in a kitchen now and I never lift more than 50 lbs at a time. I can tell you it's not easy as a five four woman to get hired on an all male crew and I did…

Every one just runs the car for a minute to charge and uses the phone sparingly. Phone use is limited and people share phones with others who have a dead phone and help them find a charge from someone with a generator. Also in the after math of a hurricane you just knock on people's doors and no one minds.

I had a friend who basically did this. His gf was cheating and he went to the guys house and walked in the front door. He was shit faced and watched them fuck through the cracked bedroom door. He is my friend and we all told him how horrible it was and that he deserved to get his ass kicked. That shit is way out of line and video taping it adds an extra layer of violation. I understand this man like my friend was acting emotionally but I don't think there are any circumstances that justify spyin…

This wasn't for campuses it was discovered as states were testing all their old rape kits starting several years ago with federal money. I am pretty sure I read that in part of a series about how rape was handled locally as well as info coming out as kits were tested around the nation. It was a series of two or three multi page articles in a free paper called the gambit in New Orleans. There was lots of articles coming out at that time so I'm not positive but that's where I got enough info to be…

What an awful thing to say. If a man is raped by a woman it is a legal issue. Encouraging men to speak freely about it and report it so the women out there doing this can be charged should definitely be a concern of this sub. The article said 80% of the men surveyed had not even told family or friends about what happened and many of them were dating the person who raped them. Having rape of a man by a woman be taken seriously by law enforcement should be a goal of anyone who wants equal rights. …

It's really hard for some girls, and some guys make it harder. When I was younger I remember many situations where the guy would try to wear me down by holding me down/ laying on top of me I'd say no over and over and he would say "but come on" "it will be fun" and on and on like that. I would have to shout and yell "I said no, get off me!!" "Stop! I said stop!" I would push them and wrestle and then when I would get up they would literally beg me and block my exit and we would go through it all…

You brought up a really good point here. In the last few years there has been a lot in the news about police departments testing all their old rape kits. One of the things they discovered is that far more rapes are commuted by serial rapists than they ever imagined. That's one of the huge glaring issues with the teach men not to rape thing. Sure you can teach guys about the consent laws and maybe mention a few nice manners but the men going out raping women are not going to be discouraged by a c…

My boyfriend has always asked before we fuck. Just a simple "want to keep going" or "is this ok" I have never had anyone do that in a relationship but it was never weird at all (can I kiss you is terrible though, never do that lol) We have been dating two years now and I ask first too now. Just right before we fuck it really is nice to have the option to stop things if you aren't feeling it specially since we have been dating a while so we move quickly at times. Specially me, I'll forget you're …

Yeah, I think many women believe if someone is very pushy already they may turn violent if you say no. I can't see how anyone could argue that teaching young women what they should do if they find themselves in a position where they feel forced to have sex could be bad. Besides cutting the number of assaults in half for the attending women I think psychology for the victims if they feel they truly did everything in their power to stop the assault from happening they will be better off and more l…

I agree. So many people say it kills the mood or is awkward but it's not once you are used to saying it. I never was in the habit of this until dating my current boyfriend. He will whisper "is this ok?" Or "want me to keep going" in my ear or pause and make eye contact. Now I do it too because I'm the main one to initiate. We have been dating almost two years and I think it's nice for both of us to have a chance to opt out if we aren't feeling it. Men aren't in the mood all the time, sometimes h…

I agree pubic recognition is really important with such serious issues but I think the power of individuals should be recognized here too. We all should try to make a difference and not give up. If I convince even one of my friends not to circumcise her baby boy I see that as doing a wonderful thing. I convinced my ex against circumcision and it took weeks of civil discussion, he also did understand I would not allow him to do that to our baby. We ended up having a daughter but he now has a son …

It would be amazing if doctors would focus more on women's mental health as part of post natal care. So many women have no idea what is and isn't normal to be feeling at that time. Even talking to partners during pregnancy check ups to tell them of warning signs. Campains educating young women and men about where they can bring a child or who would be safe to talk to and circulating info about what recourses are available. I don't like the "teach men not to rape" thing but as a part of sex Ed ex…

I'm not sure what you said to be down voted but I agree. I don't tell people I'm a feminist any more because of what nut jobs on the Internet who desperately want to be victims have turned it into. If it wasn't for my involvement in civil rights activism and being a feminist I would have never been introduced to the issues men face. I always have been passionate about equality and against human rights violations so naturally the issues with the prison system, family courts and circumcision have …

Isn't saying we shouldn't "celebrate maleness" like saying that black lives matter means only black lives matter? Why can't we all celebrate things without taking offense? I'm a woman and I love and respect men. I'm down to celebrate.

Lol. I finally watched Wonder Woman with my brother recently. I couldn't get through it, my brother actually stuck it out for the whole movie. We couldn't stop saying how bad it was for days. (I'm a woman) I asked friends who had seen it before going out of my way to watch it and everyone said it was good. I usually don't watch super hero movies (I think I gave up on them with iron man) any way I couldn't believe it, it was like no one wanted to say it was bad like the emperors new clothes or so…

It's pretty sad we can't "celebrate maleness" I love men! It seems like the same logic behind when some one says black lives matter implies only black lives matter. We can celebrate men and still acknowledge women are worthy of celebration and have done brave and heroic things as well. I love my boyfriend and some of the things I look up to him the most for are classically male/manly things. Well OP you definitely proved to me the whole what if the victim is lying argument leaves an equally bad taste in my mouth no matter who it's said to. I know it does get thrown around here a lot but I still don't see any value in it. We all know blindly trusting the police to do their jobs efficiently without bias would only harm the victims here. Just saying a crime never occurred doesn't help anyone, or your point. It's a hard subject to approach and I wish there was less victim blaming, indif…

Do you see a problem with assuming personal accounts from the victims are made up? Since women are treated that way men should be too? Do you think we all could afford to have more compassion? If so why would you use the same argument? I think it would be better to try to treat everyone with fairness rather than strive to sink down to the level of those who mock victims and assume they all lie. It's fair to take everything with a grain of salt sure, but why sink to other people's level?

Instead of just saying the take home test is insulting to women I really hope these young ladies study hard and do it in class with the boys. Can't have it both ways. With all the college girls who say they are feminist here is a test whether they are or not right here. Call yourself less than for an easy ride or show you don't need special treatment and study your ass off to prove you can get a good grade without it.

It talks about the purpose of marriage and how men have no power in a marriage because the woman can pick up and leave the second she is unhappy. Some women exploit this to force men into overworking to keep up their life style and other agendas. She talks about them taking more and more from men as marriage declines. She touches on the statement above very briefly. It's really worth the listen. Basically how women want marriage because it advantages them but any man looking to get married shoul…

Between petty things one woman said or did and this stuff as well as sexist statements it really takes away from the issues and make people really wary of the men's rights movement. If I wasn't down with all your issues already I'd be against the whole group. As a woman it's hard to stomach some of the stuff said here.

The abolition of the prison system is a real cause, and until we succeed no one is fucking free. Honest good men are held behind bars every day. As a woman, a pen pal, and an advocate all I see is disappointment every where I turn. Men and women need to speak up together.

Yeah, sadly most men's rights guys care most about the subtle wrongs that happen during communication. I'm an abolitionist. I believe the whole system needs serious reform. I think that it needs destroyed that's how wrong it is. The whole fucking thing is so far off, men need to step up proven or unproven. It is a basic human right. We see it too (women).

Yeah I worked at a pizza place and easily had 10+ years experience making pies, I was the fastest, mine looked the best and I was the second fastest on grill too. They hired really pretty girls to do the cash register and the title was "window bitch" I was not afraid to shame those young men with a competition when they were missing a window girl and tried to change my position. Well and most women hate it when a guy tries to befriend them in hopes of a sexual relationship. I guess they want it to be obvious but not too obvious. Woman here, sat next to a dude at this local dive bar. He stared at me for five minutes not saying a word . I was all giggly like stop it! Why are you looking at me like that? And finally he spoke, he said "wanna fuck? I have whiskey at my house." I loved his approach and said yes and we saw each other for a while, really hit it off. So I know I…

I agree, the system is so fucked no amount of reform will put a dent in the corruption. For most of my twenties I had pen pals in prison. Once most of them got out they ended up right back in. You have no chances after being incarcerated. It's all really sad.

I'm so sick of all the pink ribbon crap. Like wtf you want a sexy disease!? The amount of funding is out of this world compared to all other cancers. Plus all that stuff they make and pedal in pink for cancer is harmful to the environment and often carcinogens itself! I'm a woman and have been so sick of this for years how its become this huge corporate and medical money making grab. Wow. Thank you. I really thought even with the passion on the topic people may say it was too extreme to want to cut him out of the birth experience or leave him over it but in my pregnant hormonal mind I imagined him signing the papers while I rest or something. I'm a woman and had a baby at 20, my boyfriend wanted the baby circumcised if it was a boy. I told him I would leave him and he wouldn't be at the birth if those were his wishes. I then spent a month reading out loud to him at night before bed and educating him on the practice. When he told me he wished he was never circumcised I was sure he would never do that to a child.

I think it's people on the internet who don't take public transportation as their main way to get around. In real life it's not a problem. Men and women put their bags on seats because the floor is dirty! It gives you a rest on your sometimes hours long commute from holding it.

I ride the bus and street car in my city and I can't say I have never seen "manspreading" (what a stupid fucking word I have never typed it) I'm sure I have and don't care on a less full bus or street car if I need to sit down most men are very kind and make room or even get up. Condoms are free at planned parenthood. They will give you a brown paper sack and ask you to take as many as you want. I get lots for several of my guy friends every time I go for my depo shot. I also get them at gay bars.

I don't know why you are down voted on this comment. Wouldn't a more effective solution more people would get on board with be criminal justice reform, end to mandatory minimum sentences, ending the drug war, calling your representatives and ask them to say no to for profit prisons when they are proposing one or renewing the contract.
