Lost 30 lbs. I look at it as a good side effect

Yup, be the stable anchor that he needs you to be. Hope your ex can parent him well, but we cannot control that, so be the rock for your son.

I like your level headed take. My final papers are still a few months away, but she already moved out. I also have joint custody. It's a little jarring having a big house to myself when my kid isn't me. 5 months from D-day. Grief still rolls in a few days a week, but I think about the future know several days a week. How old is your kid? I can tell you'll be in a much better place a couple years from now. Hang in there
/r/Divorce_Men23/07/26 08:57 PM

You mentioned she had intent to harm your kid, then that's a big red flag

Yup CPS case is your next best bet. Get a mad dog family lawyer involving CPS cases. You have a good shot at winning full custody.

An overwhelming majority of them have the capability to betray. They all start innocent, but most of them get their values twisted by modern Western society.

Your musings sounds like a woman's, except you're a dude You let a great woman slide away. She might have cheated as you guys got older and mature. It all doesn't matter looking back.

The woman divorce brain just works that way. Going through it right now with my ex that also cheated, and would place ridiculously stupid demands. My lawyer would even laugh at her demands knowing full well it shouldn't hold water in court. I also pleaded to fix it, but she doubled down on the gaslighting lies and adultery. That's when I know I couldn't go back. Also have a daughter. Keeps claiming she loves her but her actions and behavior with her affair shows anything but. I personally wouldn…

Also have it documented and see if you can get greater if not full custody of the kids. What your doing is great, the kids will remember that you have been the stable anchor in their lives. Keep showing up, you're winning.

Sounds like narc abusive behavior. Don't react, watch her lose it and don't even react more Also have some self respect, maybe end your marriage

You'll feel a lot of emotions - anger, rage, grief, loss, worthlessness, sparks of a better future. My point is sit with your emotions, it's normal, it's tough. Rely on friends and family. You're in month zero, so you have a long tough road ahead, but it will feel better gradually. Don't go jumping into another relationship. This is a chance to heal the effed up parts of ourselves as well. Date casually if you so desire, but don't commit for a while, if you even want to do so again. Take care of…

It wasn't your 900 that spelled doom on your marriage. Your ex has been cheating for a while, and is trying to find the most plausible (albeit stupid) reason to dump or justify her monkey branching. Cut your losses, move on. Sounds like you have no kids, that's a big plus.
/r/Divorce_Men20/07/26 03:23 AM
2

Meditation, whichever works. Solitude is very underrated, and today's society confused solitude with loneliness. Rely on friends and family, you're about to go through a tough road ahead, that can take months to a few years.

Also, try to be close to God, was never the super religious type, but it calms my soul.

You're 30. You got your whole life ahead of you, plus some wisdom. Take time to heal. Date casually, but don't settle just yet if you plan to commit into a relationship again. Try to watch Life 2.0 on YouTube. Some nuggets of truth about modern marriage.

No kids? Just cut your losses and move on my man. I'm almost 40, one kid, and facing the same.. it's a little tougher on my end

Depends, sometimes the woman has been the root cause or was solely responsible for breaking the marriage, vice versa. The truth is someone between the two just stopped choosing the other, and that's when it went downhill.

I don't know where to start or what to say, but be strong. I am coming off a 10 year relationship/marriage with my stbxw for her adultery. One young toddler. Too much destruction. Just be strong, this too, shall pass. Take it one day at a time.

DO NOT RUSH INTO A MARRIAGE BECAUSE YOU WANT A FAMILY. You're chasing an end and using a means to get there, this is not the best approach. I fell into the same trap 10 years ago. Tied it up with the first woman that said yes, and made the biggest mistake of my life in the process. 10 years and a wonderful baby girl after (which truly is the best gift I got in life), the marriage fell apart unfortunately. However I will be truly regretful that I have failed to give my daughter a complete family.…

Hire a PI if you live in an at-fault state. Or at the very least use evidence of her adultery (through PI) that she is basically giving you false accusations
/r/Divorce_Men05/07/26 08:26 AM

Should have a lawyer at this point. I highly doubt that her closing accounts that belong to both of your names is legal to begin with. There's two fronts you have to face: Yourself (shock, grieving, denial, anger, all combined) - this you can manage. Rely on family and friends. Divorce proceedings - have a competent lawyer on your side. You cannot control your soon to be ex's actions but you can settle this in court.

I wouldn't disagree. My ex was abandoned by her father for another woman and had a kid with the affair woman when she was in her early teens. Definitely messed her up, and I ignored that glaring red flag.

"my family doesn't have difficult conversations" "We never fight in our family" Translation: I grew up an avoidant due to trauma and the nature of my family growing up. Didn't learn this as well after the fact. We truly learn a lot in this process looking back.

Pussy and the "pink mist," per John Griffin in Life 2.0 YouTube channel. That guy gives grounded nuggets of wisdom. Here's another painful exercise: Ask yourself, "what did you like about her during dating and marriage?" For those of us who ended up in this situation, more often than not the answer is just sex. We live and learn. I'm like you OP, 39 years young. I hope the next decade of our lives be nice to us.

Talk to a lawyer. It seems you got into a marriage by convenience for your wife and her family. You need to be strong for your daughter. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Let me know if you need someone to talk to

What do you do on days where it's just you in the house and kids are with their mom? Like you, I am keeping the house. She moves out next month, but I do want to be ready to handle the first night without my daughter. It's quite a big house for myself. 2800 sqft, 5bed/3ba. At least my daughter still has her room and we'll redecorate as we see fit. I also get to finally take the master bed back.
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/26 05:25 AM

I like this idea.. it's tough, but it's like overwriting the same record as a means of dealing with the pain. Might do this myself with my daughter

You need to fight back. If your child is suffering academically these can be used as grounds for custody. You have more levers to pull than you think. Talk to your lawyer.

Watch John Griffin Life 2.0 on YouTube. You're missing the familiarity of being married and having another person around, not loneliness itself. Look within yourself, you'll come out better. I truly think this is a gift to reshape our lives for the better.

My recommendation is go binge watch John Griffin's YouTube channel, Life 2.0 Take care of yourself first, you need to be a whole complete person yourself before you even get back on the horse and go out there. And if you can, go date, but don't marry if at all possible.

I am also in the fortunate situation of being able to keep the house. My 4 year old daughter gets to keep her room. I already explain this to her that this is "daddy's and her's" house, but she would also need to start staying at "mommy's house" which is a rental nearby.

This is another tough pill to swallow, but if the mother of the kids will be around, acceptance of what she did, and forgiveness (for your peace of mind) will be necessary, for the kids sake. It truly is unfair, but I believe God will not choose us if we are not capable of this trial. You got this. Feel free to message if you need someone to talk to.
/r/Divorce_Men16/06/26 03:55 AM

You have the right mindset. Just hold it together. Every time I feel like spiraling I just think of my daughter as well. Chin up, they need you.

Talk to your bases legal, and see what resources they can give you. You need to be up front to your command about what you are going through specially when the kid's safety is involved. Do not do anything stupid that will harm you or others. Always think of the kids, they will need you no matter how this ends between you and your spouse. My heart goes out, stay strong brother.

Beautifully written. Only three months out from D-Day, but today was the first time I caught a glimpse of how the future can be much brighter, as a moment that came into passing whilst I was driving home from work, and my nagging soon to be ex arguing about splitting up stuff around the house. I was fortunate enough to have a big cushion financially that I achieved prior to marrying her, so I get to keep most of the marital property by simply paying off her share. We have a kid, so I think the t…

A certain height and weight also apply, so it's like the unicorn of unicorns. Western raised women are mostly miserable though nobody is willing to admit. They all just drown in social media dopamime, which also is the best way to find an affair.

/r/Divorce_Men04/06/26 01:53 PM

Yup, keep at it with your lawyer. Chances are she's deep into her limerence with her new supply. My stbxw is so deep in her affair fog that she hasn't even done anything to move our amicable divorce forward - I had to walk her through all the paperwork myself. Some women are beyond broken unfortunately.
/r/Divorce_Men04/06/26 08:25 AM

If you fought for it it's also your fault because she made it clear it's already over for her. Most women will bend spacetime to rationalize their irrational behavior.

Why shake your hand? 😂 Jeez not sure if he's playing you or unknowingly playing himself. But yea, the types of men that women leave their spouses for... it almost always confirms that she was never the person their spouses think they are. It just becomes really painful when kids are involved. Ugh.
/r/Divorce_Men01/06/26 06:54 AM

Painful truth. I wouldn't end up marrying an emotionally immature and selfish woman if I didn't have issues myself. Unfortunately took 10 years of my life, and an innocent three year old daughter that I now have to model and educate on righteousness, ethics, morals, and God.

100% on the affair partner. It's certainly a discount Dollar Tree/Temu version of the spouse any ho is leaving behind. Take care of yourselves and kid/s. The ho is checked out and at some point in the future will come crashing down hard.

/r/Divorce_Men18/05/26 10:24 AM

@OP and please get an STD test If you live in an at-fault state consider hiring a PI to leverage against divorce proceedings. If living at a no-fault, just do your best to prepare, it's gonna be painful. Survey all your assets, community and separate property so you know what you might stand to lose/keep. The next year or two will be tough. Just think of the kids, it helped me a lot from spiraling and losing myself. Let me know if you need someone to talk to. Prayers to you and your kids.

Like u/stacysmomlovesme said, flip the thought towards yourself and ask, "what is the point of my existence?" In my case I usually find role models to emulate. Then find peers to overtake and vanquish. Find a mentor. Be a mentee to a wise old man. Human civilization is built on an interesting mix of teamwork and competition. This pushes our kind towards new frontiers. Find your place. Shoot for the stars. You might land on the moon, but you'll never get that far if you have never started.
