In America, Asian means East Asian. In the UK, Asian means Pakistani.

You used a lot of buzzwords here without explaining yourself. What is the "neural crest hypothesis"? Obviously, I could google that myself but why should I? You've provided no hook for me to do so. Ultimately, men have to be sexually attractive to women in order to reproduce. What does a fox becoming more domesticated have to do with that? Also, bonobos and chimpanzees are not humans. One can only draw limited inferences from different species.

Height is one reason, but if you want to know the main reason -- and it's definitely a black pill -- it's buried at the end of this paper: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3276508/ This gist is that in regions where food is more plentiful, the competition for women becomes more intense (perhaps a bit counterintuitive) -- this results in the faces of both the men and women evolving via sexual selection to become more masculine. In places where food is scarce, it's the opposite. Both men a…

hmm tried to find more info on this but there’s not much.. maybe it also reduces wrinkling? East Asian women get wrinkles in their faces 10 years later than white women. There’s other traits in East Asians that may not be related to this gene: shorter limbs, less muscular development, less body hair. All of these things are neotenous and make the women more attractive and then men slightly less attractive (the effect on SMV is more pronounced for women wrt neoteny).

eyelid surgery increases neoteny. men all over the world prefer fairer skinned women, even before they made contact with the West (e.g. feudal Japan). check the science.

This is black pill science reddit. The reason is higher neoteny in Asians (highly attractive in women, unattractive in men) and the corresponding EDAR gene mutation in East Asians. It’s not racism.

Borderline Personality Disorder. She wants to find a man with BPD because she has BPD. The majority of sex workers (as high as 95% according to some studies) have BPD, NPD or another personality disorder. Avoid women with BPD at all costs — I can’t emphasize this enough.

It has to be beaten (metaphorically) out of them by society from a young age for most women to have any hope of making prudent mating choices it seems.

Also, why does it automatically make you inferior to use a sex toy? I think that's in your head. This is not a "debate" post but an obviously true statement. Most of the men and women on this sub probably aren't very attractive anyway -- do you seriously think there are 9s and 10s posting on PPD? They're on tiktok or some dude's yacht. So, even if you could change the minds of women here, what would it matter anyway? Maybe a few more 4s in the world will see your point of view? Go on a date with you? Who cares?

Agree with your take -- although self-esteem and sexual desperation are not quite the same thing. In my view, and as a man, all men would become pathetic and desperate creatures given the right circumstances. All of the celebrities in Hollywood like Leonardo DiCaprio would be having sex with watermelons or getting bjs from guys in the Navy on a long deployment at sea just like many other men do. It's their status and situation that gives them extremely easy access to women that make them seem di…
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/24 06:57 AM

Of the 90% with no alimony, how many of those avoided official alimony through an equalization payment that still factored in what alimony would have been awarded had the case gone to trial? Nobody seems to have the answer to that.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 07:58 PM

The number of sex partners for women hasn't changed but the number of sex partners for the top 5% of men has increased by over 20% in 10 years. Also, more men at the bottom are being shut out. Fewer and fewer men are having more sex and with more individual women. It's more or less still exactly the thrust of what I was saying while I agree with you that the 5% stat isn't what I originally claimed.

Alimony happens anytime one person is earning a lot more than the other and can happen even in short term marriages when the other spouse has not been out of the workforce. I suspect a lot of the statistics about alimony are skewed since oftentimes it's officially avoided through an "equalization payment" which factors in the alimony that would have been received had the case gone to trial.

Everyone is free to not get married if they don’t want to. But if they do get married, they are legally joining together as one financial unit. Agree with you, my contention is that the joint assets thing is fundamentally unfair -- not that it isn't what's legally defined. Every situation is different and if the woman earned or invested 90% of the money into the assets that existed at the time of divorce, I don't think the deadbeat guy should be able to steal that money from her either. Sometime…

Insurance companies will write custom policies for almost anything. In this case, it would probably be so expensive for a successful man as to not be worth it -- or make him rightly think twice about getting married in the first place.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 03:17 AM

Yes and the "joint assets" are usually the man's assets being legally stolen from him. Call it whatever you want.. when 90% of the assets came from one person's work and not the other's, it's "joint" only in some abstract, legal sense. Under current law, it's a terrible idea to marry anybody (man or woman) who you expect to earn less than you over their lifetime -- which can be pretty difficult to predict. I agree with you on the child support, depending on the local laws. I disagree with the in…

Well said. Also, for some reason this post reminded me of a recent study I saw claiming that 5% of men are now responsible for more penile-vaginal sex acts than the bottom 50% of men combined. The dating market is extremely (and increasingly) skewed in favor of women and a tiny percentage of men. Stuff like PUA and red pill came about to take back some small modicum of power and autonomy for the average man. Women still hold almost all of the power and always will.

"Negging is very similar to the covert put-down or backhanded compliment used by narcissists. A neg is a comment meant to undermine a persons self-confidence so that they are more vulnerable to advances from the perpetrator." That's not the purpose of negging. It's a playful insult meant to disarm the woman. It's a way of explicitly telegraphing "I am not trying to have sex with you" so that you can take the conversation in a more casual direction and build report. This article misrepresents PUA…

Good response. It reminds me of the criticisms of GTA and how you can kill prostitutes, the game is misogynistic, etc. The developers responded by saying that you can also drive an ambulance and save peoples lives in the game and there are no actual game missions that encourage the player to kill prostitutes. The players are just choosing to do that. It says more about human nature than the game itself.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 02:15 AM

Of course it's not exactly the same thing. But the two things you seem to object to with PUA methods ("triggers primal desire", is not a 100% authentic representation of oneself) is shared in common with wearing makeup. My contention is neither is inherently more manipulative than the other -- or necessarily manipulative at all. Are there PUA-type guys who are sociopaths? Yes. Are there beautiful women who are sociopaths and misuse their sexual power? Also yes.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 02:07 AM

lol.. you win this thread
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 01:56 AM

Because you say so? Both of them "trigger primal desire" as you say. Both things involve altering yourself in a way that is not 100% authentic.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 01:54 AM
5

How is that any different than women wearing makeup which triggers a primal desire in men? I feel like the word manipulation gets thrown around way too often in the current day. Not everything one does to make themselves more attractive to or to influence/persuade the opposite sex is automatically manipulation.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/23 01:48 AM
2

How exactly are they vulnerable and how are they being manipulated? A lot of PUA stuff is just parlor tricks. Even the often maligned "negging" -- the original purpose is just to disarm the woman by joking around so she doesn't think you're only out for sex and not to make her feel bad about herself. I'm not a PUA but the tactics are just about leveling the playing field a bit. Women hold all of the power when it comes to sex and always will. They're not vulnerable or being manipulated. They're …

Women want committed, monogamous relationships way more than men, in general. This is just a dance of the sexes thing and not manipulation. Sure, many women would like a sexual encounter to guarantee a relationship. Many men would like the woman to silently disappear and never call him again. Not everybody gets what they want all of the time. If women really cared about that, they would take a while to have sex (always, no FWBs on the side), get to know the guy for a while, etc. Basically, just …

Women know on some level that youth and beauty is the most important thing to men -- just look at how much they spend on age preventing beauty products. They constantly gaslight themselves and each other about this fact because it's psychologically uncomfortable to confront the reality that your looks peak at age 18 and then go down from there.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/23 08:40 PM

Correct and they are. Since women have no option to resolve conflict through violence, they are evolved to be better at manipulation, reputation destruction, etc.

People hate dating. That much is clear. It's awful, you have to sort through a lot of folks and it rarely works out. Men especially hate being sexless. I think you're kinda hinting at something deeper here. Women don't like sifting through tons of dudes that mostly don't give them the tingles without also having red flags and then, still, potentially getting pumped and dumped anyway. Men hate not getting any sex. I don't think men that can relatively easily get dates and sex with multiple women …

Of course there are long waitlists for county and government programs, the price is free or highly subsidized. If these programs were able to raise the price due to demand, the workers would also be paid more and attract more workers until the demand was met. Not "considered less important" -- jobs that are lower paying due to supply and demand. Female fashion models earn more than their male counterparts. There's more demand. Nobody is paid based on how important someone thinks their job is. They're paid the least amount possible given the specific market dynamics. Sometimes that's not very much (fast food workers) and sometimes that's a lot (professional athletes).

Do a criminal background check. Want to avoid STDs? Insist on seeing recent tests before you have sex. Want to avoid cheaters? Vet the man as best as you can and look for red flags. Don't go for guys out of your league or with dark triad personality traits. Sometimes people (men and women) cheat. That's just a part of life …

Except that it does and data backs it up. I'm a high n-count man and I've dated high and low n-count women. In my own personal experience and in the data, less promiscuous women have less mental health issues and psychological problems. That's only correlation not causation but there's definitely something going on. It's not in women's nature to be highly promiscuous -- a little promiscuous, sure.

No it's not hypocritical. Women say they want a man that's 6 feet tall but almost none of them are 6 feet tall. Men and women are attracted to and value different things. There's essentially almost no women that value virginity in men but most men would at least have respect for an attractive woman that doesn't sleep around.

I don't know that many men would say with a straight face that there aren't 30 year old women that look just as good as early 20s women. The issue is their accelerated timeline for making a relationship super serious and getting married/pregnant that is a big turnoff. Plus the 23 year old will still be and look young in 5 years. The 30 year old woman might or might not.

I think a lot of the women on PPD and elsewhere that say they're not attracted to older men, etc. are usually very young.. like 23 or under. Once women get to the age of like 25 or 26, it's super common to see them dating men 5-10 years older.

That's not really the argument though. The issue is about the fairness of divorce law to higher earning spouses. The extreme examples prove, to me and many others, that the laws are not fair or reasonable. Pre-nups don't cover child support. His children are not going to live in poverty regardless of court involvement -- that is just hyperbole. He earned the $400 million and his ex didn't earn jack squat. It doesn't matter what the average man earns.. he can still take a significant hit in the US family court system. The extreme examples prove how outrageous the laws are.

Why should the kids quality of life suffer? There's no kid that is going to "suffer" with 50-100k/yr of support versus 1M+/yr. If the dad still wants to buy his kids first class airfare, he can do that at his own discretion. The issue men have with these court ordered payments is not about money being spent on the kids. The issue is that the money is likely not being spent only on the kids and is funding the unemployed mother's lavish lifestyle especially as the amount of money involved goes up.…

Correct. Prenups are contracts, and contracts can be challenged and thrown out. This is nothing new. I'm aware that it's "nothing new". You're arguing against yourself though. You said previously to "get a prenup" if you don't like the rules and now you say "oh yeah, those can be thrown out. this is nothing new". So, which one is it? Yes it does. It debunks the red pill claim that divorce is financially advantageous for women. Not it doesn't. It only shows that women who get divorced would be better off financially if they had stayed married. This is all casuistry. Child support is not awarded based on how much it costs to raise a child, it's based on the income of the higher earning spouse (depending on the state). This can result in ridiculously high payments in some cases. See: Kevin Costner paying $130,000 per month in child support. It's a conflict between their rational mind thinking "if men asked for explicit consent then women would be safer" and their instinctual mind that drives sexual attraction and is turned off by awkward, vibe-killing sexual questions. This isnt possible for most people That's precisely why it confers status. Status is a zero-sum game and status is definitely attractive to women. Most people, if they really spend the effort, can reach mastery of a skill or subject. It's more possible than becoming taller or wealthy.

I'm not disagreeing just adding to this. It's a dual-mating strategy for men (just as women have their own dual-mating strategy which they can optionally employ). Promiscuous women are simultaneously more attractive for short-term mating (less effort) and less attractive for long-term mating (paternal parental uncertainty). Promiscuity in women can be adaptive, just in a different way. It's a fast genes vs. slow genes thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/23 09:53 PM

Correct and male sexual jealousy is also an evolved trait that is adaptive for procreation. The men who didn't care about being cucked would have been less likely to pass on their genes than the men who did which is why modern men care about promiscuity in women.

The difference now, in addition to women earning more and only wanting men that earn more than them, is that men today must not only compete against other men at the bar, social group, etc. They must also compete against all the other men in the whole city (dating apps) and potentially the entire world (DMs on social media). Making a lot of money doesn’t make you high value. Having status makes you high value and high status men typically, but not always, have plenty of money. Having money itself will not automatically make women attracted to you. This is a pretty common mistake that men make, I think.

I don’t think young women being less entitled necessarily means it’s easier to actually get a relationship with them. They have the most options relative to other women. Older women are easier to get dates with but they still have high or sometimes higher expectations than when they were younger. This is the paradox of dating older women. Not saying they weren't in the dating pool if it results in an LTR. I'm saying that once someone enters a monogamous LTR, they're out of the dating market and shouldn't be counted as being a part of it. Another valid way to conceptualize this is to look at the lifetime distribution of sexual partners for men and women. If 80% of all women's sexual partners over their entire lifetime are with 20% of all men, then the marketplace is still a skewed Pareto distribution and not a bell curve with fema…

These are all just personal anecdotes and prove nothing. As much as I hate to say it, the fact that your friends were both in college and in frats means they were likely above average men to begin with. Hypergamy in women is both for better looking men than themselves (for short-term mating) and higher status men than themselves (for long-term mating). It often seems like women are pretty in the dark as to men's true nature and only demonize men when they don't act like women rather than attempt to seek any real understanding or acceptance.

Your sex appeal hasn't declined but your commitment/marriage appeal has definitely declined. Not all men can father children in their 80s but some can. I'm guessing that most men can easily father children into their 40s and 50s which is not true for women. It all comes down to biology. I definitely agree with you that "intelligent women generally prefer men closer to their age". However, their chances of actually locking that down for the long-term starts to drop pretty fast after age 30. At le…

The thing is, it doesn't really matter if a given woman "looks better" at 32 than she did at 21. Being younger still has inherent value and men subconsciously factor that in. There's plenty of very attractive women in their 30s and 40s. Their SMV is still lower than it was in their 20s. Men are not constrained by biology in this way as they can father children indefinitely. Thus, a man in his 40s can (*can*, not will) have higher SMV than he did in his 20s. That's simply not possible for a woman…

Japanese comedian Meshida has a video where he analyzes why marriage collapsed in Japan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ksgtVyvsqw He ends up with an unintentional red-pilled (I doubt he even knows what red pill is) take: Young women chase after rich Chads Once they hit the wall, they try to get Billy Beta to wife them up Billy Beta declines because he wants to marry a younger woman

California is one. Florida was another until very recently. In any case, per OP's question "why should men get married?" -- it doesn't matter if the risk is relatively small for something like lifetime alimony. There is no commensurate benefit to offset this risk which makes it a bad deal for men. Unless your wife will earn more money than you. Then, by all means, go for it. This is the very easy and self-beneficial decision that most women are making.

Yes I know. That's not what this post is about though. It's titled "why should men get married?"

And if she was to lie, you could divorce her then. Yes, of course. And potentially lose assets and pay alimony (possibly for life). The question is, why should anyone take that risk? Re: permanent alimony. There's a group of permanent alimony recipients in Florida that lobbied against the new law. They're called the First Wives Advocacy Group. You could look into their stories and background if you're genuinely interested in finding some real-world examples: https://www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/fl…

So it’s absolutely certain there’s no upside to marriage, like it’s absolutely certain the earth is round? Be reasonable. If there's so many obvious upsides for higher-earning men, then you should have no problem naming some. What are they? All you see in this thread are nebulous things like "forming a family" (can be done without marriage), having children (can be done without marriage) and legal protections (there is some merit to this but this mainly relates to stuff like end-of-life medical …

Casual sex doesn't make women happy though. It makes them miserable.

Cognitive dissonance. They're lying to themselves (in addition to other people). "I'm happier single" = "I'm in charge and doing great in life." "I get used for sex and can't find a man I want to commit." = "I'm a failure at relationships and picking men and it's mostly my fault." There's a powerful force in our minds to gravitate towards explanations that don't harm our self-image.

A properly drawn up prenuptial contract can be successfully challenged on the basis of "duress" at the time of signing. What constitutes duress is not totally objective and can be litigated -- sometimes for years and at great expense.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/23 10:08 PM

Many such cases in California and Florida. Not sure about other states. Florida recently passed a law eliminating lifetime alimony presumably because it was so unfair to some of the men involved. As for "rationally and intentionally" -- people change and people lie. Just because your girlfriend tells you that she wants to work after she gets married and the kids are old enough, it doesn't mean she actually will once she has plenty of financial incentive not to.

It may not be a big deal for him but the fact that his wife could potentially be paid $43,000/hr for every hour they were married when they had a valid prenup in place is just one example of the absurdity of our legal system and how it can't be trusted enough to risk your financial future on. Even a small chance (unclear how big the risk actually is and depends on a lot of factors) is too big of a risk to take when it comes to your life savings -- especially when there's no upside.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/23 09:49 PM
2

Because you can rationally and intentionally decide to do that if you want to. Also, the total cost is known to you upfront. Not the case when a judge decides to grant your ex-wife lifetime alimony.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/23 09:32 PM

And what savvy man wants to wife-up a lower-earning woman who can take his kids and assets away at any moment and for any reason? Maybe they're equally bad arrangements for the other party (although at least with the forever girlfriend, everyone involved is intentionally carrying on the arrangement and there are no courts and lawyers involved). One arrangement is normalized and encouraged by society while the other isn't.

Divorce is beneficial to women if compared to what assets and income they would have had if they entered into and exited an identical romantic relationship without a marriage contract in place. OP's question is why should men get married at all.

You are not betting that you won’t make a lot of money……but if you build a life with a stay at home spouse or a person that forfeits career development in favor of your development, then you have to pay for that in case of divorce. Yes, you have to pay for that in case of divorce. OP's question is, why should a higher-earning man (or woman) sign up for this? It's a bad deal. I have no idea who Sergey Brith is but for prenups is valid what for all kinds of contracts is valid, do it along the li…

Men work more, while women do more chores and child care. Sure, if you don't want to consider your property as "community property", you shouldn't get married, I wouldn't argue with it. In agreement with you here. I would recommend unmarried women in this case to seek a cohabitation agreement where she would be financially compensated for lost wages while she's staying home with children -- I don't see anything wrong with that. As far as marriage being financially beneficial for women or not, it…

Let's say you earn 500k/yr as a man and your wife earns 50k/yr. Do you think you're going to be combining forces on all of your vacations and eating out or do you think the man is going to be paying for two people most of the time? It's a rhetorical question.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/23 08:54 PM

"Half of both of your stuff" is because of "community property" and the marriage contract. The question is, why should a higher earning man agree to this? Maybe not a problem for most men but the more money you make, the bigger a problem it becomes. As a man, I'm basically betting that I won't make a lot of money in the future so don't worry about it? Why do that at all? Maybe not easily but it's possible. See: Sergey Brin. Why take the risk? What's the upside here? There's only downside. This i…

Why does it matter how many prenups are successfully challenged? The fact that it's possible means you can't completely trust the court system as a high-earning man and that's potentially an unacceptable risk to take. The Sergey Brin case is not finished yet. He's currently litigating it.

Even if they're done properly they can still be challenged. Look at what's happening with Sergey Brin right now and his wife asking for one billion dollars. She's also a lawyer which should, in theory, make it extremely difficult for her to say she didn't understand the contract. I think it's a safe assumption that he did the prenup "properly" given his resources and he still might get taken for a ride. She's claiming she was under duress because she was pregnant at the time the prenup was signe…

Interesting point on women earning more money divorcing more frequently but there might be more to the story. For the lesser-earning spouse, there is a financial incentive to stay married (since you're vesting that sweet "community property" and years of alimony). For the higher-earning spouse, there's a financial incentive to divorce as soon as possible to limit the financial downside. Even if a woman cynically agrees to marriage for the sole purpose of obtaining assets, there may still be a st…

Being a single parent doesn't have anything to do with marriage though. That also happens if you're never married and split (so does child support). "Community property gets divided 50/50" is an obscurantist statement. Most of the time the man is earning more money going into that community property pool -- sometimes way more. The only reason why it's "community property" is because of the marriage contract. The question is.. why is it worth it for a man who earns more to agree to "community pro…

This same erroneous reasoning has been applied to other "cultural beauty standards" such as men's preference for women with fairer skin. Even though there are examples of other cultures that had this preference before any contact with Europe (Japan is one example but there are others). The simple fact is that women all over the world prefer men that are significantly taller than the average for their country.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 07:10 PM

Ever been to Northern Europe? There are some built-in limits that have prevented all humans from being 8 feet tall: 1) extremely tall women are less attractive to men and 2) extremely tall people have more back problems and (I think) a shorter lifespan on average.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 07:00 PM

It's projection. They don't exercise enough self-restraint when it comes to sex (and possibly feel bad about themselves because of it) so they assume other people have the same problem. Also, assuming they do feel about themselves, redirecting those negative feelings onto someone else can provide some (unhealthy) psychological relief.

Belief in astrology is positively correlated with narcissism: The main result showed that the higher the narcissism, perhaps surprisingly, the higher the belief in astrology. The positive association is possibly due to the self-centered worldview uniting them, though this must be examined in further research. Furthermore, cultural aspects of millennials may emphasize the uniqueness of individuals which might lead to a more egocentric view of the world, and thus relate to narcissistic traits. Bel…

Because a man's standards for a casual partner are lower than for an LTR (he can also get a better partner for LTR with the additional value of a commitment). For women, it's the opposite. A woman could have a casual relationship with a famous athlete or musician but never an LTR. Sometimes everything still lines up for a hookup to turn into an LTR but it's the exception to the rule.
