3	Suffragettes ironically joked that "the man's place is in the army" when campaigning for the right to vote, but they never actually fought to be drafted themselves. There were feminists such as Emma Goldman who opposed the draft for everyone. She was imprisoned for organizing resistance to the draft, even though she couldn't be drafted herself.
