IIRC enrollment in the SS required Nazi party membership. The Wehrmacht (the regular German army) did not. Personally I disagree. I'm an introvert and I hate living in high population density areas. I rarely speak to any of the neighbors in my apartment block and the bigger the company I work for gets, the less I know about any single person there. I used to be upset that the basic dream and having and raising a family has become so self-destructive to men. Now that I've realised the situation will not improve within my reproductive window (and is indeed getting ever worse), I've largely made my peace with going it alone. I've come to a similar conclusion. I have no desire to inflict prolonged distress and grief on others when my time is up, especially people I like. Neither do I want the vultures circling for their inheritance or misguided attempts by doctors to keep me alive in a poor condition. There's enough stuff in fantasy/sci-fi games like Warhammer for women to get into, even if they only sit on the sidelines painting pretty models. Historical wargaming / military history seems pretty safe for now though. I think there very few women capable of faking an interest in the accurate representation of square formation at 6mm or the relative merits of the M4 Sherman.
