Hey, this is a great question that I’m sure a lot of young men like yourself(and like myself at your age) ask themselves. I too didn’t have a dad to show me these things although it’s not for the same reason as you, but you’ll get there man don’t worry! Growing a beard should come naturally I think, there’s nothing to be done about it growing more/faster, other than using products that may or may not work, and for me I couldn’t grow a full beard that wasn’t patchy and had full color until I was …

Hell yeah man. Been drumming for over 20 years and I play guitar and bass among other instruments, drums has always been and will forever be my favorite to play! Check out the drum subreddits if you haven’t already, lots of great info and posts

I grew up without a dad, and interestingly enough I’m a dad myself now. Fine to DM for more details. He died right before my son was born, and frankly I was elated and slightly disappointed by the news. He was an abusive asshole who cheated on my mom and left our family in the dust, but if I’m being honest, as glad as I am he is in the ground I’m disappointed because of the missed opportunity to have just ONE conversation with him, and possibly punch him in his fucking throat to watch him gasp f…

Hey, idk how to tell you about your trust issues other than to keep trying and hope you’re able to find the right people to bond with, also I think you’re on the right track with counseling. I very much identify with the abandonment issue as my father abandoned my family when I was a toddler, I’ve spent my whole life trying to deal with it and I’ve made a lot of headway and I’ve gotten help with that from counselors. As far as this bond you’re searching, have you ever heard that Bible verse ‘so …

Hey no hard feelings, I wasn’t trying to talk down to anyone, so my apologies for coming across rude. Just giving my 2 cents. I’m sorry therapy failed you, and whatever your issues I hope you can heal and find light in your life. Also if we’re being failed by the system how do we change that? By giving up or is there another solution that you or anyone else in this subreddit can offer? I’m just trying to advocate for less suicides by men, and pointing out that if someone needs therapy it has the…

An anecdote that I’d say is important. Therapy helped me too and without it I would have died and I’d just be another male suicide statistic. Just because something is fucked up doesn’t mean it always fails. Would we tell someone with cancer to not get chemo/radiation just because it doesn’t always work if they wanted to fight and live? Some therapists are garbage but the ones who care and try are worth looking for if you’re in a place where you need that kind of thing. I’d rather the men in my …

Hey, suicide and depression survivor here. Therapy CAN help some people. Your mileage may vary, but the deep therapy I’ve done is WAY more involved than your quote at the end of your comment. I’ve had real connections in therapy, and frankly without it I’d be dead. Depression is a bitch that tells you you need to die every single day multiple times a day and sometimes multiple times an hour. You don’t control it, it controls you. At my worst it was all I could think about, so getting out of that…

This was my main takeaway as well. As leftists we often point out how ridiculous it is when right wingers move the goal posts for themselves, and yet here is a great example of goal posts being moved here to make sure men stay in the ‘red’ and women are treated better as a gender than men, in the name of ‘equality’ when yeah, it’s not equal.

Man. First, I’m sorry you feel this way and I understand where you’re coming from. It’s really easy to hear day after day how terrible we as men are viewed by women and society, and to internalize that. You are not a predator. Equal rights and treatment are wonderful as a concept but too often ‘equal rights’ pushed by feminists just turns into painting men into seeming like at our base we’re evil, when in fact by and large we aren’t. You are not a predator. You are not unclean. You have good int…

Saying it’s useless is ridiculous and frankly dangerous when male suicide is already so high, something we talk of often in this subreddit. Your mileage may vary in therapy but this is my story: I’m a suicide survivor and out of my 6 therapists 3 were men and 3 were women, one of the women was great the other two ok, and one of the men were terrible with the other one being ok and the therapist I’m with now is a wonderful man who has helped me tremendously. Without therapy I’d have killed myself…

Neither-and that’s my point. If someone is ‘spinning’ something like both CNN AND Fox do, then why trust either as a source or analysis of anything?

You hit the nail on the head here I think.

https://my.lwv.org/california/torrance-area/article/how-reliable-your-news-source-understanding-media-bias-2022 According to this, in the Ad Fontes chart about half way down, they're objectively about the same, with CNN being slightly more reliable. Both are propaganda though imo

Thanks for the detailed response, really. I learned a lot, some of that I knew, but this helped me gain a broader perspective-and one thing I didn’t realize is how organized it was. That’s crazy.

I’ll add my two cents here as a man who grew up without a dad and who’s dad abandoned his family. If my mom had remarried to a good man(she didn’t ever remarry after my dad left) I wouldn’t have minded a good step dad. Two incomes would have been great as my family grew up the poorest of the poor. I knew what it was like to miss multiple meals. I had some male identity issues growing up without a direct male influence, that thankfully I’ve worked out at this point. When I was a kid I used to wis…

Hey thanks, I appreciate that. I figured he was trolling but still felt the need to say something. It happened a long time ago and I’m ok, thankfully I’ve healed a lot at this point.

Hey, as someone who was molested as a kid by a woman, you can fuck alllllll the way off. He’s not lucky. Who cares how boys vs girls view or think about sex? Pedophilia is pedophilia. Grow up, and have some empathy. We are talking about this in this subreddit BECAUSE of idiots like you.

Absolutely, I’m a huge advocate for mental health, especially for men-given male suicide rates, and I agree it’s important to share this stuff. If what I say or do helps even one person then it was worth sharing.

For me it’s been split down the middle. And has largely been on the right side as I’ve aged and found more mature friends throughout my personal life. Some men have treated it as stigmatizing, even calling me gay and a fag for even seeking help, or calling me a coward for having suicidal thoughts. That was when I was in my early/mid 20’s. Now I’m in my mid 30’s, and the large majority of men I talk to are wildly supportive, and open minded. Now, this is just my experience, but here’s an example.…

I could absolutely see that being the case. Therapy isn’t fool proof by any means, though it can help. Human nature is a son of a bitch and only those with a strong resolve and iron will can overcome their own shortcomings, in marriage or otherwise. A lot of people just don’t want to make it work I think, which is part of the reason maybe why divorce is so high. Which we all know here men are definitely discriminated against in divorce court. I would love to see in the future studies looking out…

https://www.opencounseling.com/blog/does-marriage-counseling-work-your-questions-answered#one This says 70% success rate, but sure, it never works. Mental health is important and for a lot of people(even in MRM, and even married in MRM) this can include needed therapy. I’d gladly look at other sources saying marriage counseling doesn’t work though. If you’re married and you’re reading this, even if you’re MRM, don’t be afraid to get help if you feel you need it. It saved my life when I was suici…

I’d agree with the sentiment, there is a way modern society does sometimes tear good men down, or seems to at times anyways. But if I’m following this post and the tweets replies correctly-this implies Joe Rogan is a good man. And on that I’d disagree. From his constant racial slurs and racist comments, to his complete and absolute spreading of misinformation in regard to Covid 19(and vaccines and treatments)to not having actual viewpoints and contradicting himself all the time(which makes him s…
