Well there were definitely expectations of women treating men right up until maybe the ‘70s. Women were expected to defer to men’s decisions, be modest and wholesome, well put-together, display a pleasant temperament, care for their husbands after work (bring them a drink, have a nice dinner prepared), keep the house tidy since they were at home while hubby was at work, etc. Likewise there were expectations on men about how to treat women (support them financially, buy them flowers and gifts, be…

Are apples generally larger than oranges? “I think that apples and oranges are usually about the same size.” “Do you mean oranges or grapes? Because as someone who’s had a lot of grapes, I can tell you that an apple is MUCH larger than grape.” “No I meant an orange, not a grape, since that’s what we’re talking about, right?” “As someone who grew up around a lot of cantaloupes, I can tell that oranges are very small by comparison.” “Sure, but we’re talking about whether an apple is larger than an…

Can you imagine telling a woman she had “tight pussy energy”? She’d slap you.

I gave up my subway seat for a woman once and she yelled at me for making her feel old.

I bet it’s every harder for some of the fathers of these single moms’ kids. Ah but who cares about them, they’re just men.

When you put Alan Turing on a bank note, you’re not honoring whiteness or maleness or gayness, you’re honoring intelligence, bravery and patriotism — values everyone of all races, genders and sizes should admire and emulate. This 21st century obsession with “diversity” is so regressive. We’re one species. The most progressive thing we can do is strive to achieve better collective outcomes — happiness, justice, health, peace, prosperity, etc. Focusing on what makes us different isn’t progressive,…

This is really the great irony. We used to “protect our women” and put them on a pedestal so that they could be authentically empowered. Men were pressured to “behave” around them — tip your hat, watch your language, pull out their chair and observe the appropriate boundaries and protocols. Women were courted in accordance with social mores and controlled the pace of the relationship. There was a social interest, and therefore social pressure from and on both sexes, to behave in the best interes…

In terms of attaining an ideal physique, you’re absolutely right. But as a man, I’m grateful I don’t have to shave my legs and underarms (and, nowadays, crotch), pluck my eyebrows, apply makeup, paint my nails, blow out my hair, wear a bra, accessorize and walk around in heels to be considered presentable. I’m also grateful I look good at 40 and don’t have anxiety about wrinkles and gray hairs.

Even men who want to attract men experience the same physical and economic pressures.

Totally fair question. I had a colleague on this project who biked to work and we would see him come into the office in athletic gear and then change somewhere. I never asked where, or whether he showered somehow, but he’d re-emerge in formal attire. Just a personal thing, but I found that a little unprofessional since we were in professional services, not employees.

I’m a consultant in New York and had a project downtown one summer. The office was really formal. Every morning I’d shower and put on my suit and tie, grab my laptop bag and go. Within 2 seconds of leaving my front door I’d start sweating on the walk to the subway. Down the steps I’d go, to stand on a steamy 110-degree platform for several minutes. And so on, for an hour+ commute. By the time I’d get to the office, my shirt would be soaked through, my hair looked like it had never been washed or…

Even your reply reveals that you yourself find housework degrading. “EVEN MORE time at home”? Perish the thought of investing more time in a pursuit as noble and fulfilling as housework.

What do you imagine the ”modern” feminist response would be to a men’s rights organization “hugely advocating” for mothers taking more time off from work to become SAHMs? The answer is breathless hysteria, and accusations of misogyny. Why? There’s your answer — because housework is degrading to feminists.

Here’s one article chock-full of perspectives on domestic work from leading feminist thinkers, such as “[The] housewife is a nobody, and [housework] is a dead-end job. It may actually have a deteriorating effect on her mind…rendering her incapable of prolonged concentration on any single task. [She] comes to seem dumb as well as dull. [B]eing a housewife makes women sick.”

That’s not what I said. I said feminism portrays homemaking as degrading. An observable consequence of this is that homemaking is often either not properly provided by anyone, or is outsourced. I don’t think feminism is in the business of weighing in on what kids need; feminists aren’t advocating for the rights, health or happiness of children, they’re advocating for the rights, health and happiness of women.

This is why modern feminism is so distasteful in practice. It’s an ideology that argues that keeping a house lit and a kitchen warm are degrading pursuits, when they’re vital parts of family life. I don’t give a shit who does it — woman, man, zebra, whatever. But somebody needs to do it, and that somebody should be celebrated and respected. It’s sure as hell more important than whatever PowerPoint slides you’re creating as director of communications for an insurance company.

It’s a leftist caricature that Trump is winking to racist old white guys. The left bases this, I think, on two things — (1) Trump himself is an old white Republican man, and nowadays that in itself is an offense, associated with being an evil racist sexist KKK grand wizard piece of human garbage. More importantly, (2) he supports stronger scrutiny of who enters the country, especially through the Southern border and from hostile Muslim-majority nations, two regions where people happen to be brow…

Elections are won by candidates who offer inspiring visions that excite voters. Democrats have to figure this out pronto or they lose again. “Vote for me because I’m _____” is not an inspiring vision. This is why Make America Great Again defeated I’m With Her.

No no, to feminists, conservative women aren’t real women. They’re Stepford wives.
