The guy who feels the need to clarify that women still have it worse 🙄 internalised misandry is still misandry.

I hate the “whataboutism” argument. The reality is, if we (somehow?!) managed to get people talking about violence against men and boys, you know damn well plenty of women would chirp in “but it happens to women and girls more!”. There is no way for this conversation to be had without talking about violence more broadly. Either violence is bad or it isn’t. This need that they have to only talk about it when it happens to one sex makes me so angry.

It’s misogyny because those who are called “pick me’s” are often intelligent, educated and well informed. It’s an attack on her as a woman for being both a woman and being smarter than those she disagrees with.

No one hates women more than other women. Women referring to other women as “pick me’s” is an example of such misogyny.

There’s no man alive today who has lived for centuries. What men did hundreds of years ago is no reason to crap on a young man’s future today.

There’s a certain irony in that the opposite is closer to being true. Because society bends over backwards at every turn to help women, a homeless women has to SERIOUSLY f up to have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

I’ve had her blocked on Spotify for about a decade since she gave the interview where she called herself a “proud misandrist”. Her music is bland anyway so I don’t feel I’m missing anything, but it’s grim how she has a sizeable gay male fan base.

The problem is, there will always be men willing to break the line, so to speak. If you were to get men en masse to agree to, for example, refuse to date or marry, there’d be some who would never normally be in the running who would break ranks because this is now their chance. And to some degree you couldn’t blame them for it. I do think biology plays a larger part than you and others like to admit. We are at our core here to perpetuate our genes, and that drive can’t have removed through socia…

To be fair, I too will mockingly use the term “male feminist”, so I don’t think that’s exclusive to feminists. I’m okay with those men being mocked to the extent that they are willing to throw their brothers under the bus, so fuck ‘em.

Maybe she shouldn’t make the post a dig at men if she doesn’t want people talking about men? Really weird behaviour. Also, calling women “pick me”s is ironically one of the most acceptable misogynistic behaviours in 2025. “How dare a woman disagree with me or have insight I don’t? She must hate herself! It’s the only explanation!”

The only solace in any of this is that it will backfire at worst and change nothing at best. Until we want to address the elephant in the room of fatherlessness and reform the family courts, none of this stuff is gonna change much anyway.

I love (hate) that this article starts by listing arbitrary characteristics - “He is, after all, a wealthy, healthy, white, heterosexual, shaven-headed, 61-year-old Californian….” - as if that has ANY bearing what so ever?! That aside… I’m always sus of men who the femesphere deems acceptable. It inevitably means he’s going to be “one of the good ones” which translates into “well-trained pet.” Men who throw other men under the bus can do one.

It’s quite useful in some ways. “Did you know that in Italy, a man’s life is worth less than that of a woman’s? It’s true. There’s a specific law against murdering women that doesn’t exist for men”. Quite a useful weapon against the whole male privilege argument.

There are some of us! I must confess, it’s a question I ask myself sometimes. Unfortunately, a lot of gay guys who were bullied by other guys as teens haven’t gotten over that, and therefore gravitate towards women. That is an aspect, you ca see people say it for themselves on many subs. There’s a lot of emphasis on collective community in gay circles. I don’t buy into that. Being gay is the least interesting thing about me. That’s probably why I’m done supporting men’s issues. There’s nothing t…

This is also why efforts to fix issues that impact men at large are a real challenge. While a good number of men are happy to support each other, there are plenty happy to undermine the rest in order to date/sleep around/be seen as “one of the good ones” etc. That competition with other guys makes it much harder for guys to support each other.

Depends if despite the men not being in power, their needs were still prioritised. Women’s needs are currently put before men’s at every turn. Who is in power is irrelevant. Laws, services, considerations are built around what will impact women in any given circumstance. Despite men being in power, they still prioritise the needs of women. In a predominantly women dominated government, they too would prioritise the needs of women - that’s the very obvious difference. So yes, your example would b…

Yeah, that’s a sad one. I fell victim to that too. A new one for you all - by engaging with this sub, you’ll get auto-banned from a popular sub about male grooming too. You wouldn’t think those who want to support men would actively oppose men’s rights, but there you go.

Your daughter is 12 and is on good terms with you. You’re already in a strong position. She’s old enough that even if she doesn’t understand it now, there are things she will remember by the time she reaches 18. Parent child relationships change, and she’s going to enter the teen years soon, where she’d much rather hang out with her friends than her parents. What a non-answer. Doesn’t acknowledge the issue. Doesn’t suggest that government could do more. Doesn’t express concern or sympathy. Doesn’t show any humanity. Not that I would expect it of Jess Philips. If a man had asked the question, she’d have been even more dismissive. We need more women like the questioner standing up for what’s right and speaking out.

As many teens on “the correct side of history” do, I just bought into a lot of feminist narratives unquestioningly. I think they started getting chipped away when I saw that a lot of the “oppressions” that they claimed to face weren’t actually real and/or manifested as advantages, and also when I was lumped in with the “bad men” (people who just disagreed) for asking questions. Good was never good enough, and I’m not one to be pushed around by the entitled.

Might be opening myself up for a roasting…. I haven’t kept up with them for a long time. I was a fan of Karen (as many were), but preferred her own content over HB. There was one other woman on it who I felt was a bit much… I can’t remember her name. She just felt very controlling and rude, and frequently spoke over people. You see articles or stories like this from time to time, and the one thing that’s missing from all of them is some humility. No “I was wrong” about the perception of men having it easier, or conceding that some women are just unpleasant. There’s always still this attempt to blame socialisation, or western values, or whatever. It’s fucking weird. Always so close but not quite.

Not being mean, but I always find it funny when someone comes on here and says “I’ve started noticing….” Like this hasn’t been the case for decades 😂 Other than the being pro-feminist part, you aren’t going to find any disagreement here. There’s an argument that that is a valid reading of the situation. Women may not be officially in charge, but the suggestion that they don’t influence policy and that social, educational and political motivations are not designed around what is preferential for them is ridiculous. While matriarchy may not be entirely correct as an assessment, society is without doubt gynocentric. No one with any common sense can argue otherwise.
/r/MensRights22/06/25 09:34 PM

Patriarchy, loosely defined, is “a system designed by men, for men, at the expense of women”. Since society bends over backwards to accommodate women at all levels at the expense of men, we can categorically say we do not live in a patriarchy. Who is in charge is irrelevant. The percentage of men vs women in certain positions and roles is irrelevant. History is irrelevant. Where we are now, we very clearly do not live in a patriarchy. Simple as that.

So, I’ve heard more egregious examples of songs that are problematic. I agree that releasing it during Men’s Mental Health Month is tonedeaf as hell, but sadly most people don’t even know we’re celebrating that so you can put it down to ignorance over being malicious. I will say, it’s fascinating that you will never find songs by male artists generalising women in negative ways. You may find some about an individual woman, but never this kind of anthemic “ladies, you need to step up” type stuff.…

Tate isn’t just a response to a lack of role models though - he’s a symptom of the #KillAllMen rhetoric of the 2010s, of the Tumblr culture of the 2000s, of the Girl Boss culture of the 2020s and so much more. He’s filling a void, but he isn’t a cause - he’s a symptom. To some extent, the world is out to get them. I don’t agree with your perception, I guess. Even if it were about emotional regulation (which is something many girls would also benefit from), a similar campaign targeted at girls would go down like a cup of cold sick. Boys are treated differently as children, but people also treat men differently as adults, so in many ways it’s just preparation for that. I listened to the whole interview and some of what he said was spot on, and then there are parts where he’s just so off the mark that I think he’s going to create more harm than good. He spends a good chunk of the time making sure she knows he’s one of the good ones - “I’m happy for women’s success, rock on sister, etc”. Ah yes, women and girls have been second class citizens for centuries. And here i was foolishly believing that women and girls had an average lifespan of around 78. That’s a great analogy. We are not responsible for the sins of our grandfathers. Oh for sure, but the success rates are lower than people tend to think they are, especially after 40. This conversation frustrates me to no end. We’re constantly being told men don’t know what it’s like to be a woman, which, FINE. But why is it men know more about the fertility window than women do? I have several female friends who are otherwise really intelligent who both talk about waiting to their 40s for kids. “Medical advancements mean you can do that now”. I think seeing it and not being able to unsee it is a common struggle. Having people try to gaslight you into thinking your concerns are invalid (even when you have data to support facts) or that try to misrepresent you or infer intent is exhausting. Worst are the people who are genuinely ignorant but assume malice on your part. And you’re right, you can’t go back and just fall in line. For what? What would be the gain?

I actually think the real reason why may in part be less to do with women’s feelings, and more to do with governments (read as “taxpayers”) not wanting to pay for children that men don’t want to raise. More men wouldn’t want to pay for a child that isn’t theirs than would be willing to, and that sure enough means the mother needs financial support from the government. If she’s living in a world so out of touch with reality that she thinks a child she never even had has been trafficked, I’m fairly sure the authorities would happily step in, for her safety if not yours (I’m aware of the irony of saying that on a men’s rights forum). I’d definitely seek some sort of medical advice. The slandering online stuff must be horrible, I’m not diminishing it. But anyone that knows her …

Interesting thing about this - it’s posted on a channel with over 42m subscribers, has less than 10k views and under 400 thumbs up. Also the comments are of course disabled. I hate that channels can do this. You shouldn’t be allowed to post content like this while not allowing response, fact checking or critique.

Some of the videos I’ve seen online have been interesting. There was quite a famous video a while back of a trans individual mentally tied in knots, trying to discuss how being a man was much more tough than expected, but also with the massive caveat that of course it was still way worse for women. I just…..

A lot of gay men were bullied by straight guys in school. Asking us why we don’t stand up for straight men is a bit like asking why black people don’t stand up for white people. In both cases, those who have nuanced thinking will, but the general public won’t.

A minster for men is “not the answer”? Curious as to why? I can only presume it’s because the conclusions any decent MFM would come to would require some compromise from the part of government consistently catering to women, and they don’t want to have that discussion. Baffling decisions being made here.

Things like this make me feel so disheartened. Especially since it’s been universally praised in the mainstream. I feel like it pushes whatever incremental progress has been made back so far. You think we make progress in one area and then something like this comes along, resets the narrative and any good is instantly undone.

I don’t take references to the manosphere seriously. First of all, even the word itself, who would describe themselves as being part of that? If it’s something you, I or anyone else doesn’t identify with, but instead is something that’s been lumped on us, then it’s obviously not real. Beyond that though - it’s hard enough getting men to support men en masse, how they hell are we or anyone else going to organise a male-led hate group?! That would take WAY more effort. It’s just nonsense.

I used to write blogs back in the day. I can’t remember the topic exactly, but I have a strong memory of writing something that went along the lines of, “Of course it’s important that women’s voices are centered” (like, why not give your blog to a woman then, past me? Cringe 😂). It does just come down to ignorance on my part. You only know what you know, and lots of people don’t want to hear the other side of the argument, so many just never get there.

100%. We would see such a significant fall in rates of violence against women if we started teaching girls/women not to hit men. As a society, we’re not mature enough for that conversation yet.

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but grammar is super important. If you go on an unpunctuated rant, now matter how factual, it gets used against everyone who cares about the issues as “proof” of a lack of intelligence. You have to play the game. It doesn’t make the movement look good.

I’m mostly here so as not to be in an echo-chamber. I disagree that capitalism is the problem, only in the sense that every other model is way worse for everyone, so I don’t think that is the solution. It’s definitely a left wing sub outside of that, however. Left wing doesn’t have to mean manic, blue haired, cultural-illiteracy - it can also mean just doing your best with the evidence you have.

“Rape culture” literally does not exist in the west (except when women do it, ironically). Anyone who thinks it does, is a disservice to academia broadly. To dust off an old chestnut, “facts don’t care about your feelings,” and quite frankly, this insistence that “rape culture” does exist is not only deeply misinformed, but creepy to boot.

I’m going to go against the grain and say I’m a big JP fan. I don’t get the criticisms you often hear, that he’s the “dumb person’s smart person”. He was literally a professor at university and is smarter than most if not all his critics, so it’s a weird take to have. I know people who have turned their lives around because of him. That isn’t and can never be a bad thing. The world would be a worse place without him. As for the GMP, I remember going from excitement to anger within about 5 minute…

Left wing does not equal to “anticapitalist”. Most people are smart enough not to be anticapitalist. When the trans support increased about 5 or 6 years ago, I remember thinking at the time that it could actually be good for men inadvertently. I did feel there was a way that gender neutral language supporting trans people would actually also help men. A great way to get men’s rights enshrined in law, even if indirectly. It’s a bit frustrating that it takes a trans identifying person for the issue of misandry to be taken seriously. I like that some of the comments are embracing of the notion, but it’s so frustrating that we have been saying this for YEARS. The criticism of feminism is valid, but I don’t enjoy the authors suggestion that it plays a useful role in the discussion. I used to say this a lot. Even over the last decade, I feel we’ve moved so far away from that that I’m not sure I even believe this is achievable anymore. We’d have to push so much stuff back, and the general public would generally see that as an attack on women.

Controversial perhaps - but we’re not all equal. Some are smarter than others. Some are stronger than others. Some are more sneaky than others. Some are nicer than others. We aren’t all the same. That’s not to say we should try to treat everyone with a similar level of dignity, but we aren’t all equal. The notion of “equality” therefore is problematic. Academia is a bit of a circle jerk. When a paper is “peer reviewed”, often it’s the same circle of people doing it for each other, especially for those of more notable name. As a result, anyone who actually wanted to publish a genuine academic paper supporting men’s issues in a way that will actually help men (and not in the “male studies” branch of academia, thank you very much Michael Kimmel), will have an uphill battle in that peer review may not even be possible.

My answer to that question would be “yes”. You can take just about any subject and there are plenty of people with an opinion despite knowing little to nothing about it, who when corrected will say, “I’m entitled to an opinion” as if that means they can think what they want and go unchallenged. No. Patriarchy, in short, is defined as “a system designed by men, for men, at the expense of women”. I would say what’s going on is neither for men, nor at the expense of women, and therefore cannot be patriarchy. I agree that the term is misapplied, but I think often what it refers to is a universal human reality, regardless of sex. Patriarchy, loosely is “a system created by men, for men, at the expense of women”. In a patriarchy you wouldn’t have: - men being denied access to their kids - a higher proportion of boys not finishing high school - a high proportion of boys not going to university - of those that do go to university, boys being the sex least likely to walk away with a degree - men doing the majority of jobs that people generally don’t want to do (bin collection, waste disposal and sewage treatment, etc). - men…

To an extent, yes. I don’t think you’ll ever get widespread male solidarity in the way women do, mostly because when it comes to it, a lot of “sneaky males” are quite happy to throw everyone else under the bus if they think they’ll get some. We all know that guy that’s a bit pathetic, weedy, no one’s first choice and doesn’t have any kids of his own but became stepfather for someone else’s at a certain point in life and acts like he’s all that. Those types will always undermine any kind of colle…

It’s also important to remember that the “patriarchy” doesn’t actually exist. It’s a scapegoat, an excuse. I’m not surprised a lot of men just want to get on and don’t engage too much with it. “Yes, dear” syndrome is very much a thing. Last, I don’t know that men ever make women’s issues about them. Generally, I see men trying to expand a topic that isn’t directly linked to women to be inclusive and reach more people.

There are so many times I’ve mentioned misandry on Reddit and have had replies saying it doesn’t exist or just dismissing it. Most recently I mentioned it on a thread and it actually got a lot of positive upvotes. My faith was restored for a while. Then one of the mods deleted it 🙄 it’s so frustrating that it’s not taken seriously.

“I like my friends to be misandrist” “Misandry isn’t real” “Misandry produces no harm except male loneliness” “Men bring this on themselves” Friendly reminder that the average person isn’t that smart, which means there’s a whole lot of people who are dumber than that.

She’s a misandrist. I get they’re related but I hate that her brother defends her. If he didn’t have internalised-misandry, he wouldn’t work with her - period.

This acts as a great reminder that your enemy’s enemy is not necessarily your friend.

Well, first thing first, don’t have any more intercourse with her - she clearly can’t be trusted. But holy fuck man, that’s a shit situation.

Good take. I think the whole “sex as a need” take kind of harms some of our other arguments. We have to be on our best behaviour at all times. Some of these arguments really hurt us all through us all being lumped in.

I posted about this a few weeks back and then deleted it cause I didn’t want the agro, but yeah, mildly pissed about that. Less about the ban, more about the reasoning of this being a place for misinformation. Like, wtf?

I’ve witnessed this in female friends and family members over the years. They are dead certain on something, you tell them they’re wrong and they snap so you leave them to it. Years later, they have a false recollection of events and ask why no one tried to step in and say anything or suggest alternatives. A career is not an alternative for a family. I swear, if I could have kids I would have them in a heartbeat.

There have been several women over the decades who have either lived as a man (Norah Vincent) or who “transitioned”, as it were (you can find examples on YouTube) who generally find that life is harder and lonelier as a man. If I’m charitable for a moment, if you’re a woman who wishes to become a man (socially), gets that wish and then finds life to be tougher, I can see why she might think it’s due to being trans, especially if she’s bought into the whole “male privilege” bull. That said, I don…

I’ve been there on several occasions. Random strangers and no one moved to intervene. Happy to say how awful it was after, but not actually willing to do anything in the moment.

I’ve never been a fan of Zidane. He’s really popular. I just don’t get that one.

I have played FF8 multiple times. The character in question is a little bit of a creep, and the fall down the stairs is depicted in resulting as having no harm done. That said, of all the characters in that game, Irvine in my opinion comes off as the least interesting and least developed. He’s a bit of a human punching bag. I could 100% see people describing him as being an incel now I think about it, which is problematic. Really interesting that you would raise this OP. I’ve never thought about…

Spotify did this thing a few years back where they would look and compare how many male acts vs female acts you listened to. It was designed to be a fun thing similar to the unwrapped feature they do each year. Several of my friends came back that they listened to more men, and Spotify instantly started pushing more women in their targeted rotations. Instantly, I think mine came back something like 60% women/40% men. I got a digital pat on the head and no recommendations for male acts. I wish I’…

Condoms can break. I had my first instance of one breaking a few weeks back. Accidents happen, and that’s when they haven’t been tampered with as others have said.

I really don’t think that’s true. Men broadly don’t respect each other, which is a huge part of the reason, in my opinion, why the men’s rights movement still doesn’t have a firm foothold. Most men are like “I’m fine, therefore I don’t care about X” until X happens to them. I know loads of straight men who enjoy spending time with women they aren’t dating. I feel like you’re projecting here.

I’m gonna hard disagree on this. Speaking as a gay guy who has access to a lot of sex (as many gay guys do), it doesn’t make you happier. There’s a lot of broken men fucking their emotions away. There’s a huge difference between having lots of sex and not being lonely. And let me tell you, a lot of those guys have HUGE emotional problems that need to be resolved. I would imagine this is true for straight people too. The loneliness epidemic is real and is a serious issue, but I don’t think gettin…

I’m at the point where I accept people like this exist. All I can hope is that no man will “settle” for people like this. On principle, it should be our collective responsibility to make sure people like this end up alone, tbh.

I read about her this morning. First, anyone who cares about their own birthday after the age of 21 (if even then) really needs a word with themselves. Grow up! But second, a man would not get away with this. We need to start treating women with the same standards with which we would treat men.
