It doesn't necessarily kill it. My couple has stayed a lot of fun, like a rich social life, music, party, and sex anywhere anytime very easily before children. Even now, it casually happens that the evening yoga my man an I do regularly leads to sex in the middle of the living room. Because it's fun. Jfi, children are very little and can't really get up by themselves. This is gonna change as they grow up. We're very careful to not traumatize them.

I know he does. And I know what he's done is legit and deserved. It's normal, or should be. But still. No solo daddy with 2 young kids in the location they are right now. No dad friend doing the same to relieve their partner around us, whatever their work situations are. I feel like it's still pretty rare. Plus, the year has been tough for him too, like death of a mother hard. He deserves a break too, and took care of me first.

Of course they are better partners. The thing about a relationship is to take the person as a whole, with their flaws, and to accept that there is no power or entitlement to have over an other human being. A "strict" partner is someone who's gonna lead the relationship into constant lack of trust, conflict, and probably abuse. Who wants a partner obsessing over irrelevant things that don't even concern them ? Who wants a jealous partner who's gonna harass you for the slighter fun you want to hav…

Honestly I'm so grateful for my man right now. I went to the spa of the best hotel in town today, with the year subscription he gifted me to my birthday, on a day off children and family work he offered me by taking the kids to a vacation in order to grant me few days of quiet time to myself. A whole week. This man wants me to relax. He wants me to rest. He wants to relieve me and take his part. He has seen me struggle all year, stretched between the children and my job while he had to travel to…

Yeah look isn't the whole thing. I very like beard and body hair. I like a guy taller than me but I'm very short, so any adult man passes the threshold. I like enough assurance to talk his idea, be assertive when necessary, not constantly doubting himself. Looking at my man driving the car has always turned me on, don't ask me why, I drive too but I still find it hot. I like the way he's emotionally balanced most of the times, not loosing his shit and owning it when I'm constantly driven crazy b…

I play bass guitar, mostly jazz, funk and afrobeat. My SO plays "head voices", saxophone and clarinette. We used to have a band but... our new band doesn't really allows any active night life right now ! I was considering study about some standard today because my older kid is very interested to play and sing with me. What do you play ??

Excellently to be honest. I'm treating myself with a very good and perfeclty rare cooked bavette. My SO took the kids in vacations for a week to catch up with them because he travels a lot for work, and to give me more time for myself I've ever had in like 4 years. I work out, I read, I play music, I do many things around the house we never have the time for. Living my best life really. I'll be joining them thursday for our family vacations in the mountains. Life's really great.

I'm sorry. I don't know you, your age or your precise situation but from my bit of experience, showing a mix of interest and attirance can lead to that, sometimes. But to be honest, my SO and I met on an app. We met in person after maybe 10 days of chatting, talked very early about the shared expectation of meeting a real partner, mostly because he didn't want to loose his time of be led on, and had a lot of luck to be such a good match. If you mention friends and ONS, maybe you're not as isolat…

I woud never do such a test to my partner. It's dishonest, it's lame, shameful to do really. I trust my partner. And I know very well what opinion he has over cheating ans those who do it. So if anything changed in our relationship and was making him to think about it, he woud try to fix it or leave. Not cheat.

There is such a thing in France where I live. Some sort of civil union, like a lighter mariage. My partner of 10 years and I are not married, but we did "pacs" about a year after moving together. That was fine and enough for a time, but now that we have a house, 2 children, and the worry to plan the future, we project to get married once we'll be out of the babies/toddler tunnel. Plus, planning an actual wedding sounds like a headache none of us want to endure. We often joke about going to Las V…

To be fair, that's understandable to a certain point. Body image and even proprioception take such a hit during pregnancy and post-partum, added to the demanding job of taking care of a newborn, that they are probably drained of all energy and willing to take care of themselves. It takes a lot to keep trying while your body feels like it's falling apart. Litteraly. At the moment, I can't even do long walks (like 2-3 km) without being in pain for several days after. My uterus feels like it's fall…

I don't lift, I usually do yoga and running, but hormonal changes and abdominal issues after 2 c-sections, like diastasis etc, had made me loose all muscles and strenth. I'm weak. I can't do a plank right now. I'm just lucky that my baby has consumed all my extra fat breastfeeding, while I was overeating like crazy and never really met my caloric needs. I'm not that happy about my belly but it's not so bad for a young mom with abs issues.

Hey guys, I think I'm a milf. Whole week at a family park being stared at at the pool. With my toddler and my 1yo baby . Husband was at home, working and enjoying the peace and quietness by himself. I must admit this bring some little joy into my heart, not being a mother only. Still feeling attractive after being hit by the motherhood tsunami. Gaining and loosing 20kg twice in 3 years, losing muscle mass, anemia, 2 c-section scars, some little stretch marks, breastfeeding breasts and all. That'…

I don't ask my man to take out the trash. He does it by himself when it's full. If he's caught elsewhere and didn't notice, or didn't have the time, I do it myself or ask him to do it when he'll find the time, but asap. On one hand, him saying no is not an option because it needs to be done and me asking him means I won't make it on time. On the other hand, if he can't do it because he's on something else, let's say, an urgent work task to prepare or already late to take both our children to sch…

I turned my exhausted mom of 2 babies self into a hot girl in one choice to buy a new dress closer to the body than my usual ones. It's so mad, I've been hit on twice in the 15min bicycle drive I have to go to work, and twice again just walking 5 mins to grab a lunch. I have lost all interest to appear "hot" in the past years, I just moved on to a more age appropriate and comfortable style. I've forgotten about that reality of men in the street. Not sure how to feel about it. I think my SO liked…

My SO was not sure I was born during the last full moon eclipse. There are few moments like this where our age gap shows. I was, actually. I was a child and him a teenager. Sometimes we get some dirty looks and comments, especially because I've always looked younger than my age while his hairline took a hard hit the last few years. Adding to the fact I'm mixed colors (I would probably pass as black in USA) and he's white. I hate being taken for a trophee wife or our couple for a transactional on…

Doing good. Dissipated my mom guilt for taking my sons to daycare and school childcare. It's sunny and hot today and both the programs for the day were all fun with water play, ice cube play, indoor swimming pool and trampoline at the park. I'm pretty sure they are having their best time right now. I'm alone with them this week, I've slept 3h last night because the baby is teething and can't sleep. I really needed a quiet day. I'm even gonna take a nap and have a coffee with other moms before we…

How so ? Little boys are obsessed with their penises even before 1yo and know a whole lot about it by the age of 3 or 4. At least mine do. There are children books appropriate for every age range and even teaching lessons in schools where I live. That's how I discovered and could confirm that male anatomy and sexual functions are way more documented than female ones, from the very start of their education.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/26 10:42 AM

Having terrible pelvic pain and pressure since a small 5k run last sunday. It could be related to the endometriosis-like disease I have been diagnosed this winter. Or I could be pregnant, considering the intense fatigue I have faced these last few weeks. And the mood swings. And the libido variation. And the fact that my boobs are slighty bigger than before, while I have started weaning my baby and they should sadly deflate themselves. I'm too afraid to go for a test. Wish me luck PPD !
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/26 11:17 AM

I don't care. But there could be an issue with their respective timelines... That being said, one of my best friend is 8 years older than her SO and everything's fine.

My husband is 7years older than me and that's about the bigger gap I'd find normal or acceptable. We still belong to the same generation. So a man in his 60's, even now at almost 35 yo would be a hard no, no matter what good shape he is. Damn, that's my father's age !

It has nothing to do with abortion. Anybody aware of the reality of children in dysfunctional families or foster care realizes what's at stake on this matter. And for the record, few weeks developping embryo is not a child. If people like you really cared for children, they woudn't be forcing them into a life of suffering.

Yes. It's just that my husband and I always believed we would be very happy with 2. Recently we found ourselves unable to donate all the infant stuffs we don't need anymore. The idea of a last baby, a bigger family, was planted and is now growing in us. Considering our ages and our plans for the future, we should go for a new pregnancy very soon, like this year, and I truly wonder how I'm gonna keep up with my very little children while pregnant and working. I'm afraid we put too much weight on …

Feminism gave me the freedom necessary to even ask myself if and when I want children or not. If and how I can enjoy the wonders of motherhood. Fertile as I am, I'd probably have had around 10 children by now without feminism, and I'd feel so bad about it that I'd probably hated all of them, my own life and myself. So no, I think you're very wrong on the matter.

Already overwhelmed with a toddler and a baby, a job I adore, some educational projects.. I should be content with my family as it is, enjoy the baby season of my 1yo and look with confidence for the easier future I'll have when he'll grow up. But I'm obsessed with the idea of having a third. I want another pregnancy so bad. I want a last newborn. I want some more of the chaos children bring at home, and watch them bond, fight and reconcile, play and go nuts together even more. Am I crazy ? Do I…

Yesterday evening, kids finally at bed, I jumped in the shower and the husband followed through. He'd only been there for 5 mins before the 3yo entered the bathroom yelling : Am I awake ?! Did I sleep ? These kids always know when hubby and I are alone together. That became a running joke. Like we know we're gonna be interrupted as soon as we start. That's the real reason why couples with kids struggle. Not the workload, not the lack of sleep... Just the fact that kids always know.

Yes, that's hard. But unfortunately, everyone needs to own its personal burden in life and try to do the best of it. Some are more advantaged by life, some are not. That's unfair. There is no reason you woudn't have more space to grow and overcome your difficulties. Hang on !

Oh they surely are. On paper. But you're supposed to keep working through mostly the whole pregnancy because it's "not a disease", while feeling sicker and weaker than ever and demanding your body to do the most consuming task. Then you're supposed to be content with a ridiculous maternity leave, if you have any depending on your country, and go back to work like never has changed whereas your body won't be fully healed before years, and your life has been turned upside down. Thanks. Yes they will. My husband goes to work in a other town 1 week/month. Every single time, my "big" 3yo boy behaves like we are a team. He dresses the table, helps with cooking, plays in his room quietly when I put his brother to bed. It's amazing to see this little boy understanding solidarity and volonteering to make the family life work. That's what we try to teach him, but to see it happening is baffling. He's so young and already so wise. Baffling.

I understand. It's scary. We were naively confident in ourselves and bet that we'd make it work. We were right, we do. I need to vent right now, I'm very tired, but I still won't trade my life now with my old life. That's a very personal choice, you'll make the good one for yourself I'm sure.

Yes it was a choice and still one of the best of my life. My children are my little mates, they are fabulous people and it's a real joy to meet who they are becoming everyday. It is truly the most world rocking experience of all, and the extra work is going to evolve as they grow. I won't be cooking purées and cleaning little asses forever. Natality is dropping, yada yada. Meanwhile all my momfriends and I, bravely growing little humans with our very substance of bodies and souls are struggling like hell because we are doing alone something that takes around 10 people to do. We do it while also working and trying to keep our couples, our friendships and our family life alive. All of us lonely, overwhelmed, overworked, forced to compromise with bonding time with the very children we are doing all this for. This week I was alone with…

Then it could still be platonic friendship or romantic love including attraction, yes. Why do you ask ?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/26 07:06 PM

Well.. that's the kind of affection I have for my girlfriends, as a woman. Friendship or maternal love fall under your definition, but romantic love not so much... That one always comes with sexual attraction and desire.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/26 03:20 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/26 09:58 PM

I am in decade long relationship full of love, support and growth we a man I adore. We have 2 children and maybe more in the future. If I believed in soul mate, I'd be convinced to have found mine. It feels like it. I just know that's a delusion. But you can believe whatever comforts you :)
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/26 03:14 PM

I'm an atheist. The soul mate myth was already considered as such in Platon era. So the whole first vision of love sounds pretty naive and delusional to me. The 2nd still sounds too cynical. I think you should read some philosophy, some poetry and also some humanities to educate yourself on the subject.

I don't know how deep in the grief I would go, I'm actually concerned for my mental health and even my own life if the worst should happened. But realistically, I woudn't have the luxury of letting me go because I'd need to stay strong and present for my 2 very young boys grieving their father. That would be cataclismic for the 3 of us, and unfortunately, we would probably struggle financially a lot too, as I've prioritized my family life over my career for the last few years, working part time.…

That's a very unlikely scenario. But if some ex of his were to "brag" about how good he was to her, I woudn't really focused on "what" she's describing but mostly on the fact that she clearly didn't move on. Never. If you look for someone to build a life and a family with, don't waste your time with people who don't fit.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/26 02:02 PM

My man has going bald over the years... But what can you do ? He's still the love of my life and a great life companion, just with almost no hair. Meanwhile we had 2 children and even if I'm still fit, my belly is marked with 2 c-section scars, my boobs had gone down a floor or 2 (also because they are bigger than before) and I can't even run at the moment because it's hurting my pelvic floor. That's just life, and time running. I'm glad we spent it together.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/26 12:05 PM

But... Do you get them ice creams and chips ? My kids are not angels, but they don't really have a choice on the matter. They have 4 meals a day, barely no snack and no "safe option" most of the times. They eat decently well, but very often they just have the white rice, a yoghourt and a fruit because they didn't like the veggies/protein/sauce. That's ok. Children of developped countries suffer from a too rich diet anyway. They won't end detrunished because of a light diner once in a while.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/26 08:44 PM

Nah.. most of the time we overestimate how much food kids actually need. What they need is us stop projecting our anxiety over their appetite.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/26 05:24 PM

He's just the perfect match for me. From the 1st date it has always been so simple between us. There is a third choice to the full agreement/apragmatism dilemma, it's called compromise.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/26 12:47 PM

I wasn't. I also woudn't trade them for the life I had before their births. They're my family and the most important people in my life. It's not even about them, or the actual parenting. It's about being forced to put aside a career I'm passioned about to become a housemaid. It's boring.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/26 03:52 PM

It's Mom rage day. The nagging wife joke is just normalized lonely mothers dying of boredom while doing laundry and cooking diner. So. Depressing. Accomplishes nothing. But you can't let your children go in dirty clothes and eating junk right ?

Same situation here. Except I won't marry at church and won't need anybody to "walk me down the aisle". But still. To invite my Dad at a social event and exposing him to alcool would be a 100% disaster. Good thing is he probably agrees with me and woudn't come anyway.

Yeah it's all about perspective. I'm not that much of a control freak, and he's far from being incompetent. I was resentful this morning because I'm used to manage the house and the kids alone ~1 week/month and generally don't let things slide. I must rest and avoid lifting anything, including the baby, but I'm still home entertaining the kids and helping him through the routine. And yet he's struggling. I totally fall into this category lol. Not because my husband is a monster, but just because he's not used to take the daily household charge. So we missed some important info from school this week and our little boy didn't have a costume for the school party today. It's not a big deal but I'm honestly so sad for him. Few hours before a surgery I expect to greatly improve my sex life. All my life I've thinking that teen years trauma was causing the pain. Then midwives explained to me that it was just too soon after baby. Over and over while the months kept going. I doubted myself a lot for just wanting to enjoy making love with my husband. Turned out I had several ovarian and uterine issues that are going to be adressed tomorrow. I'm scared but hopeful.

It's called a piéce montée and it's just my favorite thing in the world. But it's rare to find them at the regular bakery. Regular choux are chouquettes, little choux with sugar, or éclairs, filled with cream. My vanilla chouchou was a sort of mix of the two. Delicious !
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/26 04:38 PM

Not really. The chou pastry was soft but covered with sugar... nuggets (?). Like a chouquette. The pastry was filled with a vanilla cream and also whipped vanilla cream. Sorry I'm trying to describe it but I clearly lack specific vocabulary in English. It was a bit like this but bigger and filled with cream. (This is called a chouquette). <image>
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/26 03:46 PM

Brand new from the boulangerie close to my work, the Chouchou vanille, best pastry of the week. Like a vanilla cream puff. But French.

Yes, my man is the most important person in my life. Our children are too, equally. But our relationship, our mutual trust, our emotional and physical intimacy are the reason why we decided to have them in the first place. And the reason why it's so good to be a family of our own together. None of this would have sense without the deep ground of our love to each other.

Hormonal treatment is no joke. There are risks and side effects that must be balanced with the potential benefices. It's not be given lightly, especially to young children.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/26 12:44 PM
1

That's absurd. You don't play with your children health just for them to be more attractive. Statistically, from being born in a wealthy well educated household, having access to good alimentation, good health care, good education and lots of extrascolar activities, no screen (for now), and dedicated parents, they are always on top of having all their chances to grow up successful and well socialized. It would have to be enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/26 10:37 AM
1

I'm not the one who decides to give them hormones. Their pediatrician does, and that must be for an actual medical reason. They are not delayed or failing to thrive, they are just not very tall. That's not a disease.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/26 07:24 AM

Lol that's not how it works
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 07:07 PM

It's determined by (father height + mother height) +7 /2.. It sounds like a joke but it legit appears like this on babies height curves. I hope you're right and it doesn't mean anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 01:42 PM

Oh ok, thanks. I know, and you're right.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 12:49 PM

It's fun because I'm an actual psychologist and I agree with you about the principle. Still, this stuff doesn't have the space in my head and in our family life that my post could let you think. The real anxiety their father and I had were about their weights at birth and in newborn stages. We definitely over compensated with the efforts we put into feeding them (especially me with the breastfeeding and the constant cooking) but that's something we explicit for them and we have learnt to let go.…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 12:46 PM

I'm not talking about this with them. I'm starting to introduce my first born to "big boy" responsabilities and encourage him to gain autonomy.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 12:24 PM

Oh yeah. Well I don't agree with the masculinist non sense happening here but I believe things are more nuanced than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 12:21 PM

I'm not a native english speaker, I've just look to the meaning of "get a grip". Are you implying some lack of self-control, like "hysterical" behaviour or something ?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 12:19 PM

What's blue pill anyway ?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 12:17 PM

It's not ideological. It's a "what if ?" anxiety regarding my own children. Both were born in difficult conditions and underweight due to my body not being able to maintain a healthy placenta until term. So we've always been worried about their development, weight and height. Now that we're sure they're healthy, the worriness and probably the guilt project themselves on something else. I've been mocked as a child for my shortness, and I was a girl. My concern is quite understandable I think.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 11:15 AM

Thanks :) Yes as a short woman myself I never gave an f about men height as long as they were taller than me.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 10:37 AM

They're very young, 3yo and 1yo. We do everything good, breastmilk, homemade food from organic scratch, sport and activity play. Where I live growth hormone therapy is not available as an "esthetic" treatment. It's only for children suffering an actual growth delay. My sons don't. They just have the genetic of their parents.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 10:35 AM

Yes, we try. That's really an everyday life long challenge.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/26 09:44 AM

My 2 sons are predicted to be 5'7 tall at adult age. I'm a petite woman, my man is average 5'9 tall. Will they be ok ? You guys here are terrifying me. On the other hand, a great friend of mine who's 5'7 tall, athletic and a smart woman is married with a same height handsome man who's objectively a catch. Like a doctor, very sporty, very smart and totally into his family life. She never thought twice about his height.

My grand mother was born 1929. She was the youngest of 9 siblings. Her dad was a war wounded man from WWI and he died when she was 3. A year later, her widow mother of 9 died from "grief", whatever that means (I'm thinking suicide but we'll never know). She grew up hungry in a catholic orphanage run by sisters who freely beat and abused children, during the WWII. She stayed there until her 21th birthday because that was the majority at that time, married my grand father the next year and worked …

From what I understand, white gold is an alloy of yellow gold and silver or nickel, added with a rhodium plate, which is the one giving its bright color. Grey gold is an alloy too, of yellow gold and palladium, without a plate. That's why they look different, grey gold is warmer than white gold, less bright and shiny. That's what I liked with the ring I chose, but I had never seen this sort of gold before.

Considering how cycle, pregnancy, post-partum and breastfeeding and hormonal birth control affect libido in one way or another, my guess as a woman living the fluctuations would be that the answer resides in specifically feminine hormones : oestrogenes, progesterone, prolactine etc
/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/26 03:26 PM

No it's not white gold. White gold is yellow gold plated with rhodium. Grey gold is an allow directly colored in the mass. It doesn't lose its color over time. And the color was nicer.

Today I bought a ring for my man. Labelled as "male engagement ring", a grey gold band with 2 symetrical discreet diamonds, one white, one black. It's absolutely gorgeous. I'm not proposing him, but it looks like it. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary next month. I had a personal appointement at a very confidential salon with the jeweller. It was an awesome experience.

My man has an average look, average height, not muscular, not a model face, slighly underweight. He had already started to discretly lose his hairline when we met. But he was always driven, smart, successful in his (academic -> broke) field and very passioned when talking about it. He plays multiple instruments, has a band, reads tons of novels and philosophy, scientific litterature too related to his job. In an other word : he's interesting to talk to. Take him there as a gift, like for his birthday or your anniversary ? My SO used to gift me some nice romantic weekends before we had kids, because he earns more than me and is able to afford it. I was uncomfortable with it at first, but I understood he was genuinely happy to do it with time.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/01/26 10:13 AM

I get your perspective and it makes perfect sense. Married or not, he's fully dedicated to me and our family anyway. But I'm few years younger than him, I'm a POC while he's white, and we live in a pretty conservative and racist area. On top of that, our children are bright white. I heavily feel the weight of the looks we got when we go out together. I hope I'd be more respected if we were married. I should not give a fck but you know, everyone has their vulnerability points.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/26 03:52 PM

Well not really. He went out of his way to "propose" me to have a civil union just 1 year after we started to date, around the time we move in together. And we were happy with that for years, until we had a first child and started to think about securing our assets and planning baby's future. But we were also buying an old house and restructuring it to welcome our new family, then we had an other child. In our very secular culture, civil union already makes us a family with most of the advantage…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/26 01:49 PM

I would propose to my man in a heartbeat. I mean, almost 10 years mark, a civil union, 2 children and a plan for a 3rd and last in 2026/2027. We don't even need a proposal or a ring at that point. But he told me several times that he wants to do the whole thing properly. We also thought about not being pregnant or breastfeeding for the mariage, because I want to feel hot and be able to drink and dance all night.

I bet most people have done it in their early childhood before knowing what it was. It's normal.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/11/25 02:09 PM

Oh man that's so common... At least for children not raised in the shame of their bodies. From my experience of having 2 little boys, penises start to become interesting around 7 monthes or so. LONG before any idea of anything about it. It probably just feels good to touch it. Then start the questions to the Dad about it being hard sometimes, and what's this ? Hubby and I take it very gently and answer questions simply, without judgement. We just say that's not to do around other people.

/r/PurplePillDebate19/11/25 01:50 PM

Honestly the primary parameter of my libido is my cycle. Horny the first 15 days with a peak on ovulation day, then slowly decreasing over the last other 15 days with a strange surge just 12h before my periods. I mean, do you guys really believe that women are just passively responding to attracting stimuli ? Like we don't have our own drives at all ?

My SO is 7yo older than me. I'm mid 30's, he's early 40's. We met 10 years ago. We are partners, lovers, friends, parents, companions. He's my person and I'm his. This mindset is doomed.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 11:43 AM

No biggie.. fertility is what it is. We'll be less people and we'll adapt like life always did.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 05:08 PM

That, and also enough places in day cares, schools, infrastructures in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 12:50 PM

Yeah that sounds a realistic and solid measure. We are apparently taking this direction too.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 12:31 PM

France. We were the fertility champion of Europe until now, the state is trying to keep it that way, but it won't be enough in my opinion. People need a deep change to trust the future again, and it sounds unsolvable.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 12:29 PM

Many are childfree, some others like ourselves need some changes in the social infrastructures to make it sustainable. No one is forced to have children, especially here where birth control and abortion are granted and affordable.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 12:27 PM

Me neither. Around Europe we still are pretty unlucky on this matter, compared to many neighbor countries. But it's evolving in the right direction.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 12:25 PM

My country is studying the creation of a "birth leave" of 2 monthes for each parents, on top of our existing maternity leave (2 months and a half) and paternity leave (1 month). They try to adress the fertility issue, plus some other ones like preventing PP depression. I'm so glad. Hubby and I are contemplating the possibility of having a third baby, this could weight in the pros.

/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/25 12:15 PM

The concept of objectification doesn't "attack" anything. It is descriptive of an issue women face in society. But to answer your question, men can fantasize and masturbate all they want in their own privacy, but they're expected to not bother anyone with it. Nobody wants to know what a stranger rando does with himself at night. Nobody wants to be involved without consent. So it's fine as long as they keep it to themselves and don't act weird when interacting with women. Just for you know, many …

I come from a country where abortion is now protected by constitutionnal law and where men need to actively claim a child as their own for their paternity to be effective. None of this very us problematics concern me personnally, and I agree with the OP that men should have some form of choice to become a parent or not, in case of unplanned pregnancy. Not really. I just thought OP was missing the fact and his statement was incomplete. Technology, medicine and fertility control have largely freed women from their condition in the west. I'm personnally really happy and grateful for living in this era in a country where women sexual rights have even been protected in the constitution. I don't complain about it at all.

Being a woman is not a disability by itself, but being tied to the feminine condition of child bearing can fairly being called like that. In a world where women have no power over their fertility, and more often that not, no power over their sexuality either, they're enslaved to their biology and they have a real disadvantage.

Sex is usually totally fine during pregnancy, even recommanded as some healthy feel good bonding activity. I just entered the 8th month, hips are now hyperlax, uterus is preparing for its big performance by having random contractions, ligaments are under a high pressure because of the weight of the baby and the womb. So having some pain is expected at that point, especially in a 2nd pregnancy not that far from the first one. I kept walking 10k steps/day until now and I've been recommanded to slo…

I'm so annoyed to have contractions the moment my man tries to touch me. I still have 2 months of pregnancy to do, the idea of stopping sex so soon, and have to wait 6-8 weeks after birth to get back to it, so almost 4 months total, is revolting. I'm not afraid of going into early labor, all my health check ups are good. But it's really too painfull to ignore it. I tried to just pass through and keep going, it didn't go well. You'd have every chances with a girl slighty younger than you. That's how it worked for my partner and I. He was 32 when we met, I was 24. Because both of us shared the same life style and environnement, the age gap was not an issue, we actually related a lot to one an other.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/25 08:36 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/25 06:53 PM

Too inexperienced in life and relationships. I'm in my 30's, I've spent a decade with my partner, we have 2 children and obviously have learnt and grown a lot together. Assuming I'm single again one day, I wouldn't be interested to meet someone who can't relate with my experience at all. I'd prefer some divorced father who I could share more with.

In my world, the only dumbasses are the one judging people for leaving someone they find boring and unappealing, aka they don't love. Don't mistake actual women with whatever stereotype of pure and naive little flower culture is selling you. We are very capable to look for some fun instead of a relationship, and we often do. I'm not sure what your question is. 20 people is not that much if you were more interested in lighthearted fun than serious relationships for a couple of years in your youth. It doesn't mean these people stay like this forever. They generally grow out of it, 1st reason being it gets old very fast and doesn't fullfill the need for genuine connexion. Most men and women around me have had the same kind of experience and are happily in love with spouses or LT partners now that we are in our 30's.

You have no idea how difficult it can be for mothers and babies. It's not as innate and natural as you'd think. It needs to be learned, and comes with a lot of potential issues such as troubles in latching and stimulating enough, supply regulation, health complications... It can be really challenging, especially when you add the painful sleep deprivation due to baby nursing every 30min-2h or so on top of it.

I don't know how the law is written in your country, but in mine, age of consent being 15 doesn't allow relationships between teenagers and grown adults. It is nuanced enough so the first kid reaching majority in a young couple doesn't suddenly become a criminal, while the kids stay protected against grooming by adults. These laws are about allowing kids to have sex together, not offering a free pass to adults. Age gap matters a lot.

I am not married. It's not a substitute for love, you are missing the point completely. Your statement is still giving credit to the very ideals you try to denunce. You like it or not, but mariage legally implies a duty to support your spouse, whatever you feel about them. Meaning even if you're pissed off and hate them, you still have an obligation to offer support until you're divorced. It's not about feelings. Same way parenthood legally binds you to care for your children, even after their majority. At least that's the case in my country. I'm not married by the way. "Till death do us part" obviously implies love. Nope. The phrasing is old and has historic, legal and religious implications that spouses are one and undivided by body (they sleep together), possession (what both families own) and souls before god. Attraction between two people is not only related to look. It can be shaped through the evolution of a (friendly) relationship. For me, it has always been about the feeling that a guy and I shared a special understanding, some similar insight, some trust to talk freely together and relate at a very personal stage. I have been very infatuated with guys that were not that attractive, even some ugly ones, just because we had great conversations together. But yeah, if your friend reacted like that, …

The first condition is a latent attraction between you and the friend. Usually you do nothing about it because you value your friendship or for whatever reason, until you do almost unconsciously, and enter the phase where there is an "organic, unpredicted" closeness happening and make you closer each days. You just keep going, and miraculously, you two seem to always end alone together, each times. At that point you're just one opportunity away to kiss each other and end in a bed together.

One night, usually drunk, you hook up with one of your friends after a party or something. It's nice and good. After it's done you talk about keeping things very cool and casual between you two. Next night out, you do it again. And again. Once things are comfy like that, you can occasionally text each other to hang out and have sex outside of social events. Congratulations, you have now a FWB.

People experiencing this level of blandness in their mariage are the ones ending divorcing or cheating. You're describing a dead relationship. There's no such thing as a "too loose" vagina, unless we talk about complications following very violent births and post partum health issues or other pelvic/abdominal accidents. Plus, you don't wear a fleqhlight, come on dude. Have you any slight idea what a vagina is and how painful trying to do this could be ? I know both situations, there're pretty similar when we talk about very little children. Except you don't take a break from your own child, you don't have shifts and working hours like you have in a job. The affective involvement and implication are -obviously- incomparable too. That's exhausting, and hard.

I don't see how you can oppose the 2 notions. There are not mutually exclusive Nobody questions how working in a factory, being a gardener, a nurse or a care for elders/little children are "hard" jobs. Not complex or complicated, but physically demanding and mentally exhausting. That make them hard jobs.

It's not complicated, it's not complex tasks. It's not a high pressure job, until you take the big picture into account, which is to raise one or few well balanced, competent and happy human beings to be part of society. It's hard like a physically demanding, repetitive job can be. Very often it's unrewarding and seems insignificant, even if there are good positive into it.

I love my small boobs. I thought I was disappointed about them until my first pregnancy and breastfeeding experiences. Having bigger boobs sucks, they get in the way and they're not even prettier. My regular boobs don't know anything about gravity. They just float by themselves without the need of any bra. I'm pregnant again and missing them. Hope they'll bounce back after that baby.

My best friend of high school got pregnant young, like in her early 20's. We're in our early 30's now. She broke up with the father before the 2nd birthday of her son I think. There were no real social stigma about it, even less for not being married, because we live in a pretty secular, socially liberal country. She got help from her parents and the state, as she was entitled to. She managed to get back to her nurse school when the child went to preschool, got her degree and is now settled. Som…

Reddit is too american to me, and PPD way too bigot and prudish around sex and relationships. I'm not white either, but this must have very different implications where we respectively stand. I've always had a pretty high libido, with and without hormonal birth control, even higher during pregnancies. The only exception when my libido went down was during breast feeding, and it was a common side effect of BF hormone. I''ve been "promiscuous" while single, alternatively to LTR with once a day/every 2 days sex all my life until having a child. They are not entirely responsible for their ignorance. Girls and women are not enough educated over their own anatomy, especially regarding this pelvic/perineal issue. I'm aware of that because I'm at my second pregnancy in a short time and educated myself over the subject. I didn't know any of this 2 years ago. You should ask for the reasons behind your answers. Probably. A factor could be how tonic and responsive are the muscles of the pelvic floor and perinea surrounding the canal itself. As any other muscles, they can be trained and worked out. They can be reeducated after pregnancy and birth. It's well known that tonic muscles in this area, with a better sense of sensitivity and volountary mobility improve the quality of sexual life for both partners. Maybe that could answer your question.

I don't know, maybe ? But the thing is that resting vaginas are very small, like only few cm long and large. They are capable to expand greatly, as much as the size of a new born like mentionned earlier, and to get back to normal after a period of time.

I can't believe we're having this conversation. How "body autonomy" is a relevant category in case of cheating ? But to answer your question I'd say that no, it's not. What's problematic with cheating is not that said partner has sexual pleasure not involving their SO, it's that they have some with someone else. Do you understand how it's different from masturbation ? Something one do to itself ? Here're an analogy for you. Can I forbid my husband to eat any food not cooked by me ? Can I threate…

Was thinking about the long list of Church's violent conquests and slaughterings actually. All driven by "good christian morale ". The Enlightment is just the name of a stream of thoughts occuring in the 18th century, promoting humanism values over religious ones. It had a great influence across Europe. Very accurate for our little debate actually.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/24 02:16 PM
2

Your comparison is a bad faith one. The issue here is about accepting that your SO can have their own intimacy. Respecting someone's space is a boundary you're not entitled to cross when you're in couple, because it's not "subjective" or "personal", it's the basis of human dignity. Leave if you find yourself incompatible with you SO, but stop pushing such an abusive rhetoric about relationships. You're never in the right while trying to control someone else.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/24 02:10 PM
3

Picking your nose in public ? Yeah sure. But doing it in the privacy of your bathroom ? No sorry you're wrong. Or by that logic I can forbid my husband whatever care I dislike, like taking a bath after a bad day or shaving. How does that sound to you ? Anyway what I mean is that if your "boundaries" imply to restrict someone's body autonomy, you should say so and accept to appear like a controling (insecure maybe) person. At least that way you're not shaming anyone for their own intimacy.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/24 12:54 PM
4

No, I'm sorry, relationship doesn't justify restricting someone over their own body autonomy like you suggest it does. Masturbation, with or without porn or toys fall into the sovereignty of people over their bodies, exaclty like showering and going to the toilets. It's private and the business to no one, not even the partner's. Such "boundary " is in fact totally abusive.

It's a betrayal of the friendship she and I have. Not that hard to understand really. You do you. We just don't look for the same things in life. Lots of people try to grow over their first immature urges instead of indulging them, like get through the delusions and idealisations of their youth to become a bit wiser and tolerant with themlselves. Everyone should have a personal bank account with their own money, independently of the joint account of the couple/family. Just because you need to separate what's shared and what's only yours. It's not the state's problem per se. Your state pushes more for forced paternity because of its ultra liberalism regarding social solidarity. So naturally, the broken single parent whose coparent has disappeared or can't pay child support will get more help from the state than the comfortable couple. But that's a bit more com…

Because if my partner really thinks I could have cheated on him and go through a whole pregnancy with another man's child, the relationship is not what I thought it was. I'm the one really disappointed on him for not trusting me, and I realize we have nothing to do together at all. I hope a man like that would ask me for a paternity test at the early stage of the pregnancy, giving me the opportunity to abort, because I wouldn't want to put a child into such shitty relationship.

What should do a man, is avoid having children with someone he doesn't trust.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/24 08:25 PM

Not at all. Paternity is not something someone else declares for you. A man needs to declare himself a father in order to be one, no one can do it for him. So there's no such thing as forced paternity in the first place. On that basis, state doesn't care if the child you decide to claim is yours or not. It's totally irrelevant, because the whole regime lays on the will of the man.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/24 05:52 PM

Our regime of filiation is declarative. Genetic infos are not even relevant for this matters. The law doesn't require for a man to be a child's genitor in order to declare him a father. The declaration is all filiation needs. Good reason or not, introducing genetic tests would create the need to rebuild the whole régime, and nobody really want to do that.

Once again. France values genetic infos and privacy way more than US. Like just to test your pregnancy for general diseases like trisomy, it's a whole process with many forms to fill for acknowledgement and consent for the 2 parents. Plus, paternity here, legally wise, is declarative. A father needs to actually claim a child in order to be taken into account. He can abstain and never been bothered by responsability, which is more freedom of choice than what's offered to many men in the word. So …

You both protect yourselves in case of disease, or death. You protect what you earned and built. You protect the family you created, and what will go to your spouse and children one day. Also, in order to start putting the efforts into said life projects and plans, many people need to feel safe and secure about their partners' sam…

That's not enough, that's useless if the couple can't afford any social service because they're too expensive anyway. She can't access any healthy care, she still has to work at old age because what she gets for retirement is not enough to live etc. And neither can her spouse. It doesn't make sense. For it to be realistic and actually possible, you need to think of a system built at a more collective and long term levels. For example, as I am currently pregnant with my second child, and not in a…

If each spouse only have half of the safety net they'd have independently ? That's just not enough for them to access any social security service, because what's left to pay would be too expensive anyway. Or do you mean one contribution should garanty both adults (and the children) their whole treatment ? That's close to the ideal of a providential state that exist in my country, for example, but its's another story to make the system work and keep it balanced in a context of population growing …

I don't get what you mean. So each spouse gets half of everything ? How is that better ? Especially in a system like yours, where social security is mostly individual, it sounds like getting married assure you to fall in poverty ? Other countries manage it more or so by allowing a social minimum to SAHP. It can be very acceptable or not enough depending where you live.

You have no idea what you're talking about if taking your little brother to an amusement park once in your life is the closest you got to parenting lol. Childrearing is work. It's the most meaningful work if you want, and that's true, but still. It's the heaviest responsability one can have in life, before work, before couple or anything. Nothing compares to that, certainly not a hobby lol.

I don't understand how you come to this conclusion with what I wrote. Did you read ? Being gentle, attentive and loving is being unconfident and not good now ? I mean, as long as you're in this state of mind you'll probably never have any genuine connection with anyone.

What he wanted and what he liked was to share something sensual together, feel a genuine connection into pleasure, be real and vulnerable instead of "shooting his shot". He was really attentive to my comfort, to how I felt, to my consent and boundaries. He was able to understand my body language, and he cared. So he learnt pretty quickly and easily how to become "good". In another word, he was not fucking me, we were making love. Not for everyone maybe, but we both are very romantic and affectio…

By objective criterias, and as I speak to PPD population who have a very precise idea of what a "handsome" man is, I think he's not the most* handsome I've ever dated. But the thing is I coudn't care less. I'm attracted to him, we're in love and our relationship is great. Nothing else matters.

Not what I experienced. Sadly, the 2 most handsome guys I slept with were very mid sex experiences, no orgasm at all, even a little painful due to lack of arousal. But it's not being an asshole. It's minding our own business and having no social benefit to démonstrate some overly friendly behaviour to strangers. Which is often perceived as rude from other cultures like the US one.

We're rude. Because we don't pretend to care when we don't. We don't sugarcoat. And our définition of politeness is about being respectful and give some space to other people.

Man that's so hilarious. Not sure our values align, neither our definitions of masculine or valuable men as they highly dépend on your culture and social class. Just few examples. All the long breastfed babies I know are kept in a very anxious and dependant bond to their mothers, and seem unable to progressively discover their bodily autonony like the other toddlers do. I'm surrounded with babies the same age of my son and it starts to look like a pattern here. Also, the boys who bend the rules …

The actual mistakes are to not understand the question is not well intended, to answer it anyway, and most of all to feel guilt and shame for that number. Frankly it's totally ok, and a non issue for most people outside the US obscurantist bubble. (Talking about the West of course)

No need to go home made. Abortion is a constitutional right here. Children a choice benefitting society as a whole, and some of us actually live in human sociéties. Don't be jalous.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/24 04:14 PM

No. That's untrue to the point sub in my city has reserved seats for vulnerable users, including pregnant people. Politeness and civility are an important part of our culture. Nobody let a pregnant woman on her feet in a public transport here. Same with elders, unable people, and sometimes even children. Not everybody live in your atomized dystopia.

/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/24 03:35 PM

They're all crazy. They probably would never worry for a pregnant wife falling and losing the baby, but they'll be glad to find normally nice people ready to offer their seats while they'll be old and impotent.

An old lady very nicely offered me her seat in the sub today. Not even 3 months pregnant but I'm petite and it's my 2nd pregnancy, so my belly is already huge. Some middle aged man looked at me very badly for accepting to sit, but he didn't offer his own seat to give the priority to the old and pregnant women. Really a shame.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/24 03:03 PM

I'd be fine. I'd find a spot at the end line to watch him finish and encourage him. 5k is not long, he'll be back in half an hour or something. That's totally ok.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 06:07 PM

Whatever age people have their kids, most western couples don't want more than 2 anyway. Plus, you should know that there is a trend in 50-70 yo right now to live their lives fully now that their children are adults, certainly not bother to help with their grand children. This generation largely benefited from their parents' help because that was the common family mindset at the time, but they're not ready to pass through what they got. They're done and purposely useless.

Not at all. When I was still dating, I used to purposely chose some nice but cheap places to have a coffee or a drink, just to feel free to pay for my conso and leave if I felt like it. It seemed more confortable for the guys as well. Very casual et relaxed. FDS rules sound like a failure recipe to me.

France, and I think it's pretty similar in most european countries. The importance of bonding right after birth is well documented and applied, I think, in most maternities nowadays. They encouraged us to spend the first 48/72 hours wrapped with the baby in a kangaroo style, which we did. Mothers and infants are separated only when it's really necessary. I'm surprised because I had the impression you US people were more aware of these things than us.

As I said. Nuanced answer. Talking about it with their partner and expect him to be open and comprehensive ? Sure. Obsessively mistrust him, checking his phone and his localisation, not believing his word when he has only be trustworthy to her ? Absolutely not.

I think the answer to this issue is more nuanced. Your relatives are powerless regarding your personal problems. As nice and comprehensive they can be, with all the good will they have, they can't compensate your issues, they can't repair you or making the journey for you. So yes, in a sense, it's your problem and you shouldn't expect your partner to accept a paternity test just because you woke up some morning with a new subject of anxiety. If a family event was enough to fragilize your ability…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 02:02 PM

Here the difference of pov regarding relationships. I don't consider checking phones normal or indifferent in a couple. I've never done it, and I would be very angry my SO had thought about it. Why ? Because it shows a lack of trust that put in question the foundation and significance of the whole relationship. Frankly, what's even the point of a relationship like that ? To need proof and verification shows that this relationship is not working well. I certainly wouldn't have a child in such a c…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 12:13 PM

No issue of trust involved while bearing a man's children, putting at risk her health, her career, her potential future and quality of life. Yeah, sure. You sounded very aware and educated on the subject.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 12:05 PM

Yeah, not so bad but not a representative sample either. I'm not saying women never cheat, but this particular case is rare and doesn't deserve such an obsession. It's easily resolved with a simple and non-gender advice : don't have children with someone you don't trust. If you're fond yourself unable to trust anyone, don't have children AT all, cause you run to a catastrophe anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 11:01 AM

Just curious, where are your numbers come from ?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 10:54 AM

What are you talking about ? The good practices recommandations are to avoid to separate a new born from its mother as much as possible. Most babies litteraly never leave their mother's sight the whole stay at the hospital. Genetic testing are already done during pregnancy, fyi. The need to verify has already taken you far from trust. It's unfortunate you don't realize it.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 10:53 AM
2

Implying a child could not be yours is equivalent to tell your SO you don't trust her in the matter. Someone who does won't think about testing it at all. See, you test for STDs at the beginning of a relationship before you quit condoms. That's normal, you do it in order to be sure your partner didn't catch anything BEFORE they met you. No cheating implied, no one's feelings hurt. Now what about demanding your husband to test for STDs after years of mariage, before you start to conceive ? What d…

Oh I'm sure LOTS of women cheat AND keep a baby with a father uncertainty. That so common. As to have a child, trustworthy conceived or not, inside a dying relationship with a man you cheat and plan to leave in a mid term. Come on. In what way such a scenario would benefit a woman in the first place ? I mean, do you realize how vulnerable and dependant to your partner a pregnancy and an infant make you ? How so much more difficult it makes the décision to leave, to live on your own and face the …
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 10:14 AM

The whole paternity test debate is absurd, because in good conditions and healthy relationships, a guy doesn't even doubt his paternity at all. He doesn't need more proof that his partner didn't cheat him. He already got them and decided to trust her. Plus, I'm sorry but from an hypothetic cheating women perspective, the best course of action in case of an unexpected pregnancy with a doubt about the father is to abort. No question here, why even think about keeping this baby ?

As a french woman in a 8 years long relationship, not married, mother of a 2yo and pregnant, let me answer your question. First of all, western Europe countries are largely secular now, with a very light traditional and religious pressure to marry before forming a family. Also every couples have basically the same rights and duties regarding each other and their offsprings, married or not, as long as they live together and have children of their own. Child support is granted the same way, and al…

See how you're blinded by your egocentrism. Male side is not the "regular" one, it's just the masculine one. One of two options. Now no, not really. I've never really been turned on by the view of a man, even my partner naked in the room just after shower etc. Doesn't mean I'm never turned on. At all. But it goes a different way. I'm more sensitive to contact, for exemple. Sometimes he just needs to barely touch my neck or have his hand on my back. Sometimes it's the warmness of his body while I…

/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/24 07:52 PM

You could be the one lacking comprehension my dude, because you totally miss the importance of emotional bond and partnership implied in any relationship. The point is not : sex, LTR, children or whatever. This could be achieved in good and bad relationships, with incompatible partners or even unenthousiastic ones. The point is to achieve it with the good partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/24 07:46 PM

Very simple : for us to be in love and happy together, for the relationship to last long, maybe forever, and to grow to something meaningful.

Speaking from personal experience, it's not about avoiding it, but not giving a f. For the last 8 years, that we spent together, it felt more important and meaningful to get, then rebuild, the house of our dreams and have children, than spend so much time, money and energy in a wedding.
