To reformulate your second part: Emotions can be a glaring hint to an issue I am not actively aware of. Finding out what that issue might be and doing a reality check, if the emotion is warranted, can resolve ongoing conflicts or help formulating a plan to deal with it. Or ease the mind.

I concur with a recent anectode: My date stood me up and went silent last week. When I called her out the next day via WhatsApp, she stealing my precious time, I got a shitstorm of how ridicoulus my whole accusation is.
