I posted in an autism subreddit 3 years ago saying I was a neurotypical guy trying to figure out why I kept matching with autistic women on dating apps. I was having a good conversation until a mod removed my post saying autistic people are not a monolith. I find it hard to believe that a woman noticing a link with autistic people would have been treated the same way. Anyway, had the conversation been allowed to continue I probably would have realized I was on the spectrum a lot sooner than I …

Autism. I've had the same thought about these posts. I'm on the spectrum and I believe one of the things that led me to being a male advocate is recognizing patterns and inconsistencies (ie double standards). My bet is there's a lot of other guys here like that. And we can be a bit wordier because we have a tendency to be misunderstood I think.

This is from memory so correct me where I'm wrong. Spoiler Warning: Star Trek has an episode where a male crew member creates an AI in the image of a real woman who didn't consent and the guy tries to romance her. It's understandably seen as creepy and wrong by the end of the show. Black Mirror s07e03 has an AI created in the image of a woman who didn't consent. This time it's a female crew member who happens to fall in love. It's even mentioned that the AI woman may not have a choice since it…

"But men don't have to pay child support!"

When you're accustomed to privilege equality feels like oppression.

Hey same here. It made me realize I don't have any rights to family planning so I got sterilized.

It shouldn't be a crazy take. Paper abortions for men should have been legalized at the same time abortions were legalized.

My best guess is they want to see if we respond with a misogynist rant which would be fine if it wasn't for the toxic "I hate men" approach. If you handle the situation appropriately some women will be sincerely apologetic and understand their mistake. Many won't. Casual misandry like that is so common they've probably just never put much thought into it. I like to give them a moment of critical thinking on it first before judging them.

My ex was overall the best partner I've had yet but it was a struggle talking about gender issues. She was able to be a bit nuanced with it and listen but man it's an uphill battle fighting against tiktok's influence. Dealing with someone who offers 0 nuance most be a struggle. It's great you're being patient and it sounds like you're handling this right. If you don't see incremental progress on their end it may be a sign that you aren't the best match. When I go on new dates now I actively list…

I have this memory of watching Boy Meets World as a kid. The main actress is asked something by a teacher and the girl responds with wanting to store all men in underground caverns as prisoners or something. It's crazy genocidal thinking that it's played off for laughs because the topic is men. This was a family/children's show. It's a 20 year old memory so if anyone were to link the video that would be neat.

Good answer. If there's an empathy issue here there's likely empathy issues elsewhere too. Make sure you listen and understand where your partner is coming from and find a partner who is capable of doing the same for you.

Right. I vote left because they care about some people. Not me lol. But some people at least.

I lost a greater portion of my IRL friend group because I shared my experience as a counter to one of them saying men don't experience harm in that way. My comment was seen as anti-woman. I still think about it often.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
