Simple physics dictates that force is simply mass times acceleration so if you can put more weight behind a similarly fast punch it will do more damage (ok, so it requires more strength to achieve the same speed at a higher weight but it's not the kind of strength that you simply get from lifting weights). As far as I know, both of the parties agree to drop their legal claims and agree to have their case resolved on the TV show. So while not legally binding in and of itself, it is legally binding because each of them signed a contract saying it is.
