Thanks for sharing! I'm guilty of being wrongfully annoyed at my SO sometimes. Usually, I'm not able to hide my annoyance and he'll pick up on it and bring it up/ask me what's up, and what we usually end up concluding is that I was wrongfully annoyed because of a miscommunication on MY part. Here's an example: this past month we just moved out of the city, so now we have a backyard and a grill and are able to BBQ stuff. He's been grilling a lot, and when he preps the food for grilling, he someti…

Heh, thanks. I think I had an easier time because my SO is generally right, and is pretty wise. So in my experience, if he's ruled that something is legit or right, chances are, it is. Because of this, I basically had to give TRP a closer look.

No set wedding date, and no ring. I don't much care for a wedding, and I don't want a ring, either. He refers to me as his fiancee, and I refer to him as my fiance. We talk about having a city hall wedding or an ultra tiny ceremony, but no date set in stone.

My (now) fiance rightfully broke up with me because I was shit-testing, being disrespectful, and not taking responsibility for my behavior. He found TRP while we were broken up. He talked to me about it. I confused it with PUA stuff, and my first reactions were "Wow, this is a misogynistic way to approach life." I had my reservations. In the following weeks, he would call out when I was hamstering, shit-testing, and disrespectful. At first I thought "Pfft, no" but eventually I began to realize h…

Wow. That is a really, really long post, but absolutely fascinating and worth the read.

Yeah, it's one thing for the author to draw upon anecdotes and mention one man saying this or that. It's another when she polls hundreds of men and great majority of them agree. I found the book to be quite eye-opening for me in two ways: "Wow, men really don't think like I do" and "Huh, I must have been solipsistic to think they would."

Thanks for the great post, Bella. I've been guilty of doing this in the past, so this is a great reminder for me. I recently read For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn. In this book, she polls men on a variety of things, including sex. In the chapter for sex, she writes about how sex for men isn't just a physical urge/need. It's an emotional need analogous to the female need for communication. She asks female readers at one point how they'd feel if their men just stopped talking to them, and says t…

I mentioned this in the IRC chat, so you might have read it already, but was urged to post this here, too: I do want to say in response to "But what if he doesn't want to quit smoking?" - how likely do you think this is the case? He must be on some level aware of the detriments of smoking and the benefits of quitting if he has gone through the challenge of successfully quitting in the past. I can't imagine that he'd actively want to continue smoking for the rest of his life unless there is somet…
