Id kill for that situation. I'm paying $1,600 right now for 3. Kids say her photos of Hawaii are nice. The least she could do is also take them. And this is while I have them 1/3 of the time too. Sucks

Alimony and child support are different. One lasts a lot longer.

I calculate what you would pay me if I had kids full time (X). You calculate what I would pay you if you had kids full time (Y). You take the difference, then cut in half ((X-Y)/2). Only one person makes actually makes a payment.

Essentially. You calculate that, cut it in half, then see who owes what. This accounts for things like insurance too. So if both parties made the exact same and their insurance was somehow free there would be no payments.

Damn man. For what it's worth my ex did an extreme version of the visitation/violation of court order by moving the kids across the country so now I cant see them as much. She was charged with contempt of court, found guilty, and her only punishment was having to pay my lawyer fees (just for the contempt stuff), and we split travel cost (Washington to Michigan 4× a year with 3 kids ain't cheap). They called that a win for me because other costs like medical weren't split 50/50, but 82/18. Anyway…

Very well could be. I am (primarily) speaking from my own experience from about 6 years ago.

That was also over 30 years ago, and could have been other circumstances at play. I can speak to how things are currently, and fidelity doesn't matter.

I can promise you this isnt how it works. I am not saying that's right or wrong, just saying how it is.

Yes, that's how it should be. But that isnt how it is sadly.

I like to think this is true, but having an affair has no impact on the custody or child support so it seemed strange he was proud of sending it to his lawyer. Without a prenup, infidelity isnt punishable

The mark for a good writer is how well they can get across a point in as few words as possible. "Sorry for the long letter, I didn't have time to write a short one"

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
