A Guide to the Goodlife is a good intro book

There are a lot of elements to frame and I’m still wrapping my head around it. I think controlling your frame is essentially controlling your reactions and response to what others say and do. People will say things that press your buttons and often times, if not almost all the time, the best reaction is not to react. If you say something, use humor (agree and amplify). This keeps control of the interaction on your side and doesn’t allow you to expose emotional weakness, giving the other person d…

I say no but don’t think there is a TRP consensus on it. I saw a thread the other day where commenters notes that watching porn is one of the most beta behaviors there is though.

Porn is bad and makes you less attracted to real women, in my experience. NoFap isn’t a real long term plan and creates its own problems. Not getting off for a month or two can make you thirsty and needy af. There are benefits from abstaining from fapping, like more energy, in my experience. But I think it should be another moderation/self-control exercise. Try to limit it to once or twice a week.

Anyone else notice the positive effects of limiting the amount of music you listen to?

Force yourself to do it a couple times then it’s not so hard or intimidating. I’m not an expert on it but I’ve put forth some effort and it’s paid off. Tons of resources on how to approach out there, but most important thing is just getting out of your house and doing it.

My guess is that you’re being quiet but appearing nervous and anxious. I’m still learning myself and this comment was just an observation on a small sample size. But work on your body language and inner confidence. There is a difference between being a quiet man with a smile who has no problem escalating physically and a quiet man with closed body language who seems twitchy and nervous. It takes time, trial and error. The more dates you go on the more trial you get and the less you care about th…

Still working on it but approach anxiety. The beta habit is not approaching the hotties. Blows my mind how far I’ve come that I do approach semi regularly now. Probably 90+ percent of men will not approach unless drunk — so happy to be in that top 10 percent.

I’ve noticed that my most successful dates/game are when I talk the least. Not sitting there nervously not speaking but creating a conversation then just listening and smirking. Those are my SNLs.

Easier for them to give number and ditch later than to manage the anxiety of turning someone down in person.

Depending on the woman, she may be more appreciative of your attention at an older age. Older women tend to be much more direct with their signals and make the game process a lot easier.

I just started reading into stoicism as many have recommended here. Seems to help with these kinds of emotions and may be something to look into. A Guide to the Good Life is the book I just read.

Realistically, maybe late 50s? Around the. I would think it would just be depressing to learn how much of your life you wasted being wrong about everything.

Yes. Eye contact, smiles, etc. lots of eye contact, then look away, then look back. You know it when you see it, but I just never saw it until I got in shape.

Instead of drinks, coffee or ice cream. Venue changing after each drink makes it more likely she’ll buy a round. I choose bars that don’t serve food. Make sure you’re incorporating venue changing regardless with long slow walks in between places. Walking makes it easy to touch her arm/back and escalate too.

Sounds like she wanted to let you know she had a great time. And that she’s hoping to see you again. Girls can be needy too.

The reactions from girls on the street, in the halls, etc. totally new to me once I lost 30 pounds of fat. And they get stronger and more direct as I now slowly bulk up too. It also helps that now that I maintain eye contact with people I actually see the reactions instead of darting my eyes to the ground.

A beginner myself but I don’t think on a cold approach I would; I would just make my intentions real clear with touching/being close/and language that suggests I am interested in her. That’s easy enough at night and in the day just use a more direct opener. That being said, on casual acquaintances, friends of friends, maybe someone you meet through a work coffee, it seems like asking if they are single is a pretty effective way to steer a germane/platonic conversation in the direction I want bef…

Ha, funny you mention the nacho thing because that’s exactly what I did to set up a tinder date later in the week. She said she liked nachos so I said let’s meet and split an order.

Thanks. I agree and do own it when asked or it naturally comes up. I’m just wondering if anyone has experience leaning into it by inviting girls on first dates to bars knowing I won’t drink.
/r/askTRP17/09/18 11:22 PM
1

Thanks - the second part about looking weird is what I was mostly wondering. Drinking coffee at night seems off to me but ice cream is pretty simple. Another idea is just to ask them out to split an appetizer and then sit at the bar and let them order a drink if they choose.

You have any standard week night first date spots?
/r/askTRP17/09/18 11:13 PM

Yeah I do that but I don’t actually want coffee at 6pm. Ice cream is a fine idea and there are plenty of other options. However, I also would like the girl to relax with a drink if she chooses.

What’s her body language like? Are her feet and torso pointed at you or away from you? If at you I’d lean to she’s interested and nervous. If away, likely trying to end the conversation.
/r/askTRP15/09/18 05:03 PM

In my experience, a lot of the time they’re just too nervous to say no up front. They would rather be agreeable and then get rid of the date later in the manner that requires the least confrontation. They also put no thought into how any future interactions will be tainted by this cloud they create. It’s childish but it is the way it is.

Make some money and get some cool hobbies, like exotic travel, adventure sports, martial arts, etc. Most 31 year old men don’t really do much besides work and hang out at bars or in front of the tv.

/r/askTRP06/09/18 06:51 PM

Don’t worry about it. I have same kind of issue. Right now I’m experimenting with the “disdain what you can’t have” rule of power to see what the result is of pretending these girls don’t exist.

Question — do you basically stick with his methods then and forget all the “game” tricks and tips we read online? I know some of that overlaps
/r/askTRP05/09/18 01:32 PM

Not all the time. It’s more that I possess the tools to be hat way if I choose, and I’m much more aware of what’s going on in the conversation, comes much more naturally, and instead of thinking on what I say next I am listening closely.

The Charisma Myth is a good one especially if you get into meditating. It spells out the power of presence in any interpersonal conversation.

I would also add that even as a total beta in high school and college I was still popular, which helps
/r/askTRP04/09/18 01:20 PM

At my most beta, the women I got basically made it happen. They pursued me and made it awkward enough to where I had to make a move. I was also younger then and found myself in way more drunken social environments, so the opportunities were more frequent. The girls never wanted one night stands though— I was always the guy they wanted to date after a bad experience with some Chad.

look into intermittent fasting. that with calorie counting makes dropping weight easy imo. Essentially, skip breakfast and wait 4-6 hours each day for your first meal, then the rest of the day keep 500-1000 calories under your maintenance calories (depending on how fast you want to lose weight).

Sign up for a couple hobbies in addition to lifting, classes like martial arts or meditation or whatever, just to give you a few more things that make you interesting as well as occupy time on your calendar. Make friends and make an effort to keep an active social life. All of this will make you significantly less boring and you have the time and money to do it since you don’t drink.

I’m only chiming in to correct that most guys still can’t effectively approach at night either. Most guys awkwardly make eye contact back and forth for too long and screw it up/miss opposition ties at bars/clubs at night.

FWIW, I’m currently lowering the bar to get practice and learn. I think I’m about a 6-7 but have been chasing 7s and 8s and getting dead ends. Im not going too far down but 5s and 6s for the next couple of months to get some experience.

I find older women way more direct with their IOIs than women in their 20s. They seem to understand how to use body language, eye contact and smiles and don't want to waste time sending mixed signals.

Good post and I'm in the same boat. Was flaked on/rejected by 3 girls that I met through work (not at work) a few weeks ago and it stung at first but was a lesson that they may have just been acting nice and pleasant. I also got turned down by a hotel front desk girl that I thought was being flirty and overly outgoing. Oh well, the more rejections I get the less I care about each one and am reenergized to keep trying and improving.

This is interesting. When approaching, I've often wondered how to deal with really nervous girls. I know I've seen this question asked on some subs too. Maybe the answer is to let them be nervous? Use it to my advantage? Just show complete calmness even if it only makes them more nervous?
