Haha yes. They seem to have more confidence and really do not care.

If you drop your life for a woman, you cease to exist as who you were when you met. I think that’s why women lose interest in a man if he seems to not have a life of his own.

I have heard that successful marriage partners consistently like one another but may not always love one another. The passion ebbs and flows throughout time. If you always like your partner, the friendship and respect between both people will never die.

Women love in many different forms just like men. Not every relationship is marriage material, not every experience is romantic. Not every form of love is for a partner. Women are people, too, and people are complicated.

There are women out there who don’t cheat. Just like how there are men out there who don’t do that.

Yes!! It’s all about having a spine. If you fall over a woman she will not respect you (although six years into my relationship I don’t mind if my husband shows vulnerability, but that is a different relationship stage). Hit the nail on the head.

Of no fault my own do I exist in this world. My parents planned to create me and so I’m here. And now I must thank them for it?? We celebrate their birthdays and often I find myself still doing things for them if they need help with something. At some point I will have to take them in to care for them. I’m pretty sure that we will be even when all is said and done.

If you ditch Father’s Day then you have to get rid of Mother’s Day too. Both are ridiculous in my opinion.

You have to be a triangular shaped man and probably have to know how to do the seashells.

Also, if you go around cheating you gain a reputation whether or not you want one. My social circles tend to reject cheaters, both guys and girls, almost subconsciously. If you’re willing to cheat on your partner then you must be willing to lie to the rest of us, at least that’s my thinking. I also question a coworker if I know that they’ve been unfaithful in their relationships. Sometimes it’s difficult to separate someone’s poor personal decisions from their professional world.

Is there a difference in approach between pursuing women of normal weight and those who are larger? I’m curious.

Unfortunately the traditional gender expectation is that a woman will manage the home. Even if a man does it too, he has the option while the expectation is on the woman, at least in my experience. So I end up knee deep in comparing products on Amazon for things that I could not care less about, like shower cleaner or whatever, because if I don’t do it then maybe no one else will (and my husband doesn’t have a lot of practice in housekeeping bc it wasn’t a huge expectation when he was younger...…

Hit the nail on the head. The parents double down on their bad, life altering decision that they made for their innocent baby. They should have to live with that bad decision for the rest of their lives. It should not be glossed over, ignored, or normalized. If I ever have sons they will remain intact and if anyone asks I’ll just get on a soap box or two lol. Just to drive my belief home.

Is there ever a case where it is medically necessary? I’m just curious.

So back when I was on Facebook there were plenty of know it all friends who kept trying to define feminism as men and women being considered equally. But then these same people sort of flip the definition whenever they feel like it. So I never actually understood what the term feminism meant and I still don’t. I just feel like They use it however They want whenever They feel it is convenient to use one of those definitions. Like I’m constantly gaslighted. All for them to stand proudly on their m…

Agreed. No reasonable person would want men and women to compete in a sport and call a man’s victory fair. Biologically we are different. No reasonable person would expect for men and women to socialize in exactly the same way (on average). Socially, we are raised differently. On some level, men and women are different and that’s okay. Just like how tall people and short people are different. What’s important is that we are as equal as we can get under the law. So male and female offenders of th…

I saw these numbers featured in a documentary, and after seeing that I changed my view about the Men’s Rights movement. I know longer felt like it was unfounded and I started listening to what proponents had to say. Just wanted to throw that out there. Numbers matter and evidence can change people’s perspectives.

I agree. All that you can do is walk away when someone tries to escalate an interaction.

Oh just be polite. Don’t get into intimate conversations. Keep things at arms length. Change the subject if things get too personal. It is when we are intimate and vulnerable with another person that a deeper relationship can develop. If you do not want to be involved then you should keep it light hearted. Treat her like a polite acquaintance.

I don’t feel that way don’t worry. Few of us are prepared for the misunderstandings. I’m pretty black and white so I would like to believe that I make it pretty clear how I approach life, what my boundaries are at work, etc. I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with more inappropriate situations at work and I’ve been employed for ten years. I seriously think that people should not be searching for dates at work. I think this causes more problem than it’s worth. It has certainly made life a…

I do have one experience where I did have some confidence but I think I was still passive aggressive. There is an older gentleman that I deal with (50s) who flaunts how alpha he is all of the time. It's exhausting. He has ignored me for nearly a year but has recently approached me way more often than is normal in my work setting. Once I went to get coffee and he followed me into the kitchen to get water. Started asking me open ended questions and I just nodded back. Did not engage. That was the …

My friends are from late 20s to mid 30s but many are really enjoying their careers and I don't think that many have had positive experiences in relationships. So I think that it makes sense that at this point they would just stick with what makes them happy. Life is hard and relationships become bigger commitments the older that you get. You run out of energy for them quickly if they aren't going well. So I think they're all just going with the path of least resistance and enjoying the journey. …

I think that if it's with or about a friend that I trust isn't going to go crazy on me, I'd be okay with bringing something up with them. I might do a it in a light hearted way but they usually get my meaning. But the janitor guy is beyond my training. In my experience, people like that don't change their behavior even if they know that they're making you feel uncomfortable. It's like the construction workers who cat call. All that I can do is stay out of his (or their) way. My fear is that if I…

Any time. I came here bc more and more I am having trouble with relating to certain people. I am a 30s married woman and the world is different from back when I was younger and single. But maybe I can just listen and provide my thoughts and opinions without getting too attacked in the process. This sub seems to be better at listening to multiple views than some others. At least I don't feel completely shut out for my true opinions. Anyway, I hope that everything gets better. It may take time but…

Wouldn't leaving be the best thing to do if you can't film? That would cool everyone down and it acts as a consequence for her crazy behavior. Whenever my husband has walked away during an argument, that immediately cools things off and makes me reflect on whatever has been said in anger. Within minutes I will go to see him and we will resume a more civilized discussion. Just the act of him walking away becomes a consequence because I do enjoy his company and I want to be able to engage with him…

Eek. Stay away from this person. I have had a similar experience with a man. We only dated two times. I didn't hear from him so I moved on. Months later he came back and said many of the same things that this girl said to you. I came away from that believing that men don't handle rejection well either lol.

I agree that sometimes people interpret the worst out of something. But if the creepy janitor at work who leers at me every day makes that comment in a tone that seems off, my internal alarm does go off. I might not feel confident enough to talk to someone about it, but I sure as hell try to avoid that guy if I can.

I'm wondering if it's more about Millennials not wanting to get married at all. Half of my female friends have been frank about liking their lives as single people and not wanting to settle down. Like not even wanting to date or be in relationships. They like their lives as is. There might be a shift for both genders.

As human beings we are entitled to some things (bodily autonomy, personhood, if you're in a developed country there are certain unalienable rights). We may not always get those things but it is written into law that we should have them. But you're right in that we are not entitled to someone else's time, money, favor, life, etc.

This was entertaining. Good story telling. I'm sorry that you have found yourself in the anger phase. It's okay to feel negative about things that upset you. You might not always feel that way. But you're entitled to be angry when you're told to approach life in one way and it turns out that that's not how the world works. Hope that things get better.

Sorry to hear that. There is no such thing as The One. There are many Ones. If your relationship implodes, it's not the end of the good times. You can start again if you choose. You will find happiness again if you want to, and you will get a fresh start with someone new, and hopefully you will have learned from your past in order for the path ahead to be smoother and more pleasant. An old woman used to tell me to never put all of my eggs in one basket. I understand her now. It means that your l…

This is so interesting. Older people play by different rules in the dating scene, in my opinion. They no longer have to deal with pressures to have kids or settle down so there isn’t much of a rush. They don’t base their compatibility on physical attraction as much as younger folks might, but are rather searching for a life partner that shares their interests. I think that they have different standards than single young people. An older man probably has success with older women by following a ce…

Someone who wants to break up either doesn’t understand what they are proposing or doesn’t care about your feelings.

I’m just here because I don’t know where else to go. Seriously the world is so backwards. No questions here, just wanted to join. I’m not even male, I am a married female, but I think that I can learn a lot in this sub. Thanks all.
