My ex wife was very financially irresponsible, in a different way but she struggled to hold down a job. Similar reason, “toxic environment” etc. Her financial irresponsibility led to a huge source of resentment from me. She seemed unwilling to plan the future, and drove enormous credit card bills for irresponsible reasons. What I came to see eventually was she was incredibly selfish, and I was never really a priority. Only things that she wanted or that helped her were priorities. I think the re…

I can relate to that, though my ex was noticeably worse than yours sounds. I will say, I was concerned about not seeing my kids everyday too. I’ve come to find the 50% time I spend with them is MUCH better than when I saw them everyday. I get to make the rules on what we do, when we do it, it’s opened up a wide variety of activities and interactions with friends that didn’t exist when we were married. I don’t know what kind of state you’re in, but when I was married and living at home with my ex…

I knew it was over when I realized “I’d rather spend the rest of my life alone, then spend any more time with her”. She had been demoralizing me for years and had really beaten up my self esteem, the point I literally thought no one would want to date me. Once I accepted I’d be happier alone than with her, I knew I was ready to get divorced. Needless to say, I’ve had plenty of dates and that wasn’t an issue. We separated two years ago, and after a year of dating, I decided to take a break and le…

At least on Google, you can “block” a person, so it won’t show them in memories. This is how I got Google to ignite my ex wife, but still show family pictures of me and my kids.

I am so sorry to hear about your struggle, know that the internet brotherhood has been there and we’re here to support you as you move forward. There is no version of life where your kids would be better off without you. They need you now more than ever!

I am unfamiliar with hidden spy cameras, but my old Arlo system had a local backup and would record onto a drive when if wifi got disconnected. I don’t know if these would be the same

Although I am younger, I can relate to OP wrt being together for 20 years, and I whole heartedly agree with @MR-Ozmidnight , it’s important to slow it down and take your time. I decided I was going to take a full year to be alone before I tried to date. Ultimately, I was afraid of meeting and falling for someone, who would later reveal they had the same terrible characteristics as my STBX, and then not having the strength to leave this second terrible relationship even though doing so would be i…

Happy to help! At one point, I looked into “Men’s Divorce Therapy”, and i thought there maybe 20% as many groups for men as there are for divorced women. NOPE! I found one. One group focused on men. Dozens of groups focused on women (and to be fair, many that weren’t gender specific). But I attended a non-gender specific divorce therapy group, and of the 18 people there, only one other man. Needless to say, men need support from others, but how we go about it may be different. We are here to sup…

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. It is a hard situation to be in, and believe me, it takes more than a year to recover. I’m in a slightly different situation, but I can say I can relate to the losing a family member and going through a separation at the same time, and it is HARD. I’ve been separated for almost two years, about the same time since my mom passed. I also have kids, which makes all this much harder. I took up woodworking as a new hobby when we separated, and I have …

Sorry to hear you’re going through this, we’ve almost all been there ourselves, just remember life will get better! Take advantage of her being in the honeymoon phase of her new relationship. She’s more likely to agree to settle without dragging everything out unnecessarily, so you can finish the divorce and start the next chapter of your life. When I decided to leave my X after her affair, I was so crippled I couldn’t i had to go onto meds and start working part time. I took too long to start t…

See a doctor and start and anti depressant, get physical exercise, cut drinking out, get a therapist. I know there is a lot to do and there is a lot of uncertainty. You will get through this, you are still very young and there is time to redefine yourself and what you want in life. Some people find rebound relationships therapeutic, I’m interested in learning to be comfortable alone. My wife has taken to exploring her sexuality with her new found freedom. I think she is using sex to fill her inn…

I decided to divorce when I realized I’d rather spend the rest of my life alone than with someone I didn’t trust. I now spend less time with my kids, but the time we spend is much better since I’m in charge of what we do.

I started exercising more and found a new hobby, but I still find it hard when I know she’s out with one of her new boyfriends. The only think I have found that worked, which I think is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Every time I think about her and her boyfriends off having fun, or having sex, or doing other things that stir up unwanted emotions, I immediately think of something super gross. I always think of the same thing, which happens to be the explosive poop inside the toilets at …

This is a beautiful story, and I’m happy you found closure on your pain. Now you and your father get to write the next, more meaningful chapter of your lives together. Best of luck, and thanks for sharing this.

The point of the recording is not for trial evidence. It’s so that when a cop shows up to address a false allegation of domestic violence, you can talk to the cop, explain what happened, and have him listen to her threatening you with filing a false allegation in the heat of the moment. The only way to keep this from escalating is to ensure the police never take in the first place. DV claims don’t have the same presumed innocence and your not in position to defense yourself, so you must convince…

This may be a reference to sexual exploration such as 3somes, ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, etc. There are a variety of more exploratory relationship structures, and many woman are more open to this than one might expect. It takes work to prepare for such a significant change and isn’t easy, but it may be better than divorce, and it is certainly better than cheating which causes unbelievable pain to the betrayed spouse.
