What a sociopath. How long were you together? When did you find out?

…says the person who accused an active and proud papa of being a deadbeat dad. Nope, you clearly need to have your head surgically removed from your fourth point of contact.

You’re not happy together and she made a selfish, shitty decision—that is going to impact this child for the rest of their life. You two do need to split.

That’s funny, my three kids out in the living room, getting ready to leave for elementary school in a few minutes, are living proof of just how full of shit you are.

WRONG. The statement “more than half the country voted for Trump” is objectively incorrect in several ways: Voter turnout: Approximately 159,738,337 total ballots were cast out of a voting eligible population (VEP) of 242,077,783, representing about 65.99% of eligible voters[8]. This means that a significant portion of the country did not vote at all. Popular vote: Trump did not win the popular vote. He received nearly 73 million votes compared to Harris’s 68 million[7]. While this is a signific…

Preach. Also, fuck all of you idiots that are downvoting this voice of reason. This is exactly why we can’t have nice things anymore.

Damn man, so sorry this is happening. As an ex-mo myself—born into the cult and got out as a teenager, long story—I saw this mental and emotional abuse on a regular basis growing up. So glad for you that you now see it for what it is. Also, isn’t that notebook app just absolutely incredible?? I was just using it again moments ago with academic papers. The ‘audio overview’ feature is probably my favorite. And I got to hear Steven Johnson) a couple weeks ago—the guy that basically made that thing …

So messed up! I’ll never understand the level of sociopathy—or perhaps sheer arrogance—it takes to do that to your partner of 25+ yrs.

About a year is what you know so far? Damn, so sorry my man. Very glad you’ve got such good friends that wouldn’t tolerate that sh*t.

Yeah, legal advice is the right place to start. Hell, she may even owe you alimony, but I have no idea. Make a plan and continue gathering information before you say anything else to her.

There’s some good advice in here. But don’t stay for the kids. She decided you and the family were expendable—believe her. Chump Lady, grey rock/180. Glad you’re starting a gym so soon too!!

That’s the thing—she’s being a shitty parent and it’s not your responsibility to fix her mess. Kids are walking bullshit detectors, and she sounds absolutely chock full of it.

Man, I love you so much for this—for trying to normalize the very real struggle. We do need support, yet we’re so often socialized to suck it up, stuff those feelings way down deep, and be “tough”. It’s fucking stupid, and toxic.

Thanks for sharing your story. That does sounds unhealthy, and I’m glad you were able to finally leave the emotional abuse. We do have kids, and they’re still young. So I don’t even know how to make a separation work if we did split.

That makes good sense. In our case, she never goes away for very long, at most a long weekend. I wonder what would happen if she did.

Yeah, good point. I think there is a large amount of accumulated conflict that was never properly resolved. And part of me is wondering if it can be resolved now.

Thanks guys, this is helpful.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
