I'm gonna go out on the limb and say some women choose to wear makeup for themselves, because they like how they look with it on. It's not just to "attract a mate" - I'm happily in a relationship (with another woman who also wears makeup) and I wear makeup every day, because I like how I look with some eyeliner on. a lot of people would probably argue that one's career is more significant than what a person looks like under some makeup. I'm not super familiar with /r/sex and what it allows as "relevant" posts, but it might be possible that this article wasn't considered sex-related, since it's more about sexual assault (and the politics of prosecution, etc etc.). uh, the "blurred lines" controversy was/is mainly about its about consent (or lack thereof). The "sexual dominance" becomes an issue when a person's agency/humanity/individuality gets erased, leaving just a sex object there for others' (usually straight male) pleasure.
