Positive self-talk and visualization have been helpful, as well as planning that allows me to track and check-off incremental goal achievement.

Learn inner game: how to be self-confident, positive about yourself, motivated, and focused. Eat right and exercise. Be attractive.

Women are fickle. She may have said something like that and then had her attention distracted by someone else. Or she said that just so she could keep you on the back-burner.

She initiated, apparently because she wanted to see what else was out there. She later came back and asked if we could be FWB's. She didn't say why.

One possibility: You've been too passive/agreeable/accommodating throughout your life, and people take you for granted. Now that you're starting to push back, they don't like not having their "doormat/slave" available, and are trying to shove you back in line, thinking that your passive and self-doubting/generous nature will allow them to do this. There also may have been a jealousy issue with your friend, where he saw you as someone who had their shit together more than he did, and he wanted to…

I had an ex do this to me too. In her case, I think she was just too busy fucking new dick. Also, see the "lightswitch effect". After about 1.5-3 months, she actually did reach out to fuck. If I really wanted to have a chance to continue that, I should have dicked her really good (which I didn't). Live and learn.

Call her out on her behavior and mock her for it; embarrass her. Do it in a jovial/sociable way so that other people around you have a good time as you do it. If she physically attacks you, smack her ass down (in self defense) or make sure there are serious consequences otherwise. After this, make a special effort to have good times with your siblings so that they value your relationship and don't automatically side with her.

You might be right; I didn't notice the disparity between males and females, but I have heard that academia overall is a haven for toxic behaviors. I couldn't get out of that cesspool fast enough.

I've done a lot of research on cluster B disorders (NPD, BPD, sociopathy, psychopathy) and wanted to address a few things: Having "narcissistic personality traits" (big ego, high self-confidence, etc.) is not the same as having NPD. Someone with NPD will often have many of these traits, but their core psychology is very specific, and leads to very specific pathology. Love bombing is the early warning sign that is almost always present at the beginning of an NPD relationship. (The other stuff OP …

Well, recognize that those women are the minority, and then decide whether you want to invest time in finding more women like that, or accept and adapt to the way most other women are.
/r/askTRP11/04/21 10:40 PM

I think if you have certain (mostly blue-pill) expectations about women, you can be quite disgusted and disappointed in their thoughts/actions. Once you develop your own personal power and cultivate a more realistic perspective on them, you'll probably just shrug your shoulders and say, "It is what it is." Just like gravity, it sucks for some things, is useful for others, and ain't changing any time soon (that I'm aware of), so mise well accept it and adapt.

My experience as I've gotten older reflects the adage: "Life is what you make of it." I've chosen my own, very nonstandard path, and in so doing my life has gotten better and better. If I were still stuck in my software engineering job (my first "real job" after college) I would be pretty miserable, though.

Yeah, never pre-announce you're leaving with a manipulative (probably cluster B) whore like this. That's when they get really nasty. Best to give her the impression you're "on the fence" until you're already out the door.

This might sound bad, but work on being more "arrogant". Once you think of yourself as "The Shit", you'll be able to laugh off other people's nonsense, even if you fully perceive it.

The better you feel about yourself, better self image, better self confidence, etc., the more your voice will reflect this with a positive, confident, rich tonality. At least, that's my experience. People can sense this and I get more and more positive reactions from them with my voice as I increase my positive self-thoughts, etc.

I caught feelings for two of them; they both wanted to be ho's in the end and broke up our relationship so they could fuck around. It opened my eyes to AWALT and such women no longer hold as much appeal to me.

Either resolve to "fly low" until you graduate so you can get what you need and get out, or go somewhere else. If you think this professor is going to make achieving your goal (getting out with degree) difficult, then leave. If you leave, make sure the higher-ups know exactly why.

This. You have to know how and when to verbally/socially defend yourself, using "emotional violence" if necessary; i.e., how to put a bitch in his/her place when they step out of line. Otherwise, if you are habitually nasty to people without provocation, it is a bad look that will tend to backfire on you. (Unless you're really charismatic and can naturally bully people while making other people laugh, but that's not something that's consistent with my values.)

Sounds like you probably were involved with a Cluster-B personality disordered woman (Cluster B = Psychopathy, Sociopathy, Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder). You likely experienced a trauma bond which kept you with her longer than you might have been otherwise. "You reap what you sow" is at least partially true; however, "gratitude is rare." Also, people will often resent those who they rely on for their success and try to tear them down. It's in the 48 Laws. In this kind of situation, it might be best to direct your positive energy towards those who will tend to reciprocate, i.e., people who are basically peers and can boost each other.

NPD/BPD (2 major cluster B designations) people thrive on chaos and confrontation. It energizes them, makes them feel important and powerful. Trying to be reasonable and appealing to their better nature is pointless.

If she has become disrespectful towards you to the point you find it unacceptable, you can do one of two things: If you think the relationship is worth salvaging, e.g. her disrespectful behavior is only recent and/or you have a lot of good chemistry still, sit down and tell her what you don't like and what you won't accept. She might try to argue; don't get sucked in. Simply repeat your position with a smile, then leave if she can't accept it. Once you've laid out your boundaries, be prepared to…

Learning the red flags of cluster B personality disordered individuals is of great benefit to learning to avoid/handle malicious people.

I had a kind of rough PhD experience, too. My adviser turned out to be an obnoxious narcopath; when I graduated I couldn't get out of there fast enough. One lesson learned from this is the importance of being able to judge people's character accurately, and the red flags of personality-disordered individuals.

Agree that regret is mostly useless, but if you can extrapolate from your own bad experiences to avoid problems in the future, that can be useful. Also useful for others to see what worked for you and what didn't.

Great post. Even my parents, who are/were generally good people, sold me out on some major things in my life. Also, don't place too much confidence in "authorities" (medical/religious/intellectual/etc.) to be competent or have your best interests at heart. I'd also add that it took me too long to learn how to be "nasty/mean" (i.e., put my foot down) when confronted with someone's bullshit, and otherwise assert myself powerfully against hostility. First, if he stole from you, you absolutely need to get your money, etc. returned to you before anything else. Either threaten to involve the police or other authorities, or out him to your family so they will force him to make good. This goes beyond mere disrespect into the territory of enemy action. Go as far as you need to, including filing a police report. I've had to deal with a douchey brother in my life as well. Nothing went as far as your situation, but he repeatedly disrespected and att…

Number 2 is a huge red flag and would disqualify her from an LTR with me. Chicks who do this and say things like, "girls are too much drama" are often manipulative attention whores and people who can only get others to stand their presence if they're trying to fuck them.

Exactly. You can tell a lot about someone's character by how they treat people whose job it is to serve them (waiters/waitresses, grocery clerks, etc.). She is a nasty piece of shit, and if you stay with here it will only be a matter of time before it spills out on to you.

To each of Cunty's friends, be extra-nice and charming; win her over. In the process of doing this, make light mention of Cunty's nasty behavior, and with a rueful shake of your head, acknowledge that the poor girl must have some major insecurities/issues for acting that way. Remark that you sure hope Cunty doesn't talk that way about her behind her back, then smile and wish her a good day; repeat until all of her "friends" consider her a nasty shitbird.

Some RP-aware author (maybe it was "Illimitable Men") made the point that (many) low-status people have no loyalty, and therefore can't be trusted. The reason for this is that they are low on the totem pole and have no real investment in their social environment, and therefore they are always checking "which way the wind blows" and looking for opportunities to jump ship and/or sell someone out for their own (usually minimal and temporary) gain. Many years ago, before RP even existed, I used to t…

You could be upfront with her: "I'm sorry, my girlfriend doesn't talk that way to me." If she continues, progressively withdraw attention; you'll have to be prepared to walk away if need be. Hopefully she'll get the message and repent of her bad behavior. Bear in mind, however, that some people are just broken (personality disordered) and it's not your responsibility to fix them, only for you to set and enforce your own boundaries.

There's a problem with the kind of either/or posts in this thread. Women like confidence/attitude/how-you-make-them-feel and they like an attractive face and body. Either one can get you laid, if you know how to maximize your particular advantages.

Someone asks you to do something you don't want to do. Instead of explaining/justifying yourself or caving in, etc. (submissive, non-assertive behaviors), you smile and tell them, "No."

I've had success with this one time when an ex messaged me, and I saw it the next day. I just e-mailed her saying something like, "Hey, sorry I missed your text, but come over today if you want!" (Pre rp days.) But she didn't seem altogether enthusiastic, as if the mood was gone.

I guess it's the extreme-ness and sudden-ness of it. You're on your second date and she's talking about you like you're her soul-mate and how she's so lucky to have found you after all the other horrible monsters in her life. Declares undying love and starts pushing for exclusivity way sooner than reasonable. I also try not to offer advice unsolicited anymore, and even sometimes when solicited. These resentful people will then turn around and say your being "condescending". Go to the people she gossips with about you, one-by-one, and have a friendly conversation with each of them. At some point in the conversation, casually throw in that you heard "Cuntessa" is gossiping about you, so they should be careful what they say to her, as she might use it to spread rumors about them. Make it a kind of "friendly heads-up" situation. Even if they enjoyed the gossip, people want to protect their self-interest. Pointing out to them that Cuntessa could easily do the same to th…

Positive self-talk and guided imagery can help. Imagine an image of yourself smiling at yourself (if that makes any sense). Practice feelings of love and positivity towards yourself. Improve yourself and accomplish things to the point where you can legit be proud of yourself. Recognize that even though you're not perfect, you're a good and valid person, and if others try to put you down because of some superficial shortcoming, that's their problem, not yours. A few years back I found a great therapist for bullying issues who helped me overcome them. She sounds like a total NPD bitch. As others have said, she went on a fishing expedition to see if there was insecurity in you, by claiming it to be true and seeing how you reacted. Her blocking you was her way of "getting the upper hand" and accelerating to the discard phase to feel superior to you, since she could see that you weren't going to allow her to hook you in something longer-term.

Man, I'm so sorry you went through this. I've never been raped (although I did have an older gay man try to "groom" me in highschool), but I did have a rocky relationship with my father. One good strategy with BPD/NPD psycho's is called "grey rock". It's where you go no contact and if they force interaction with you, you give them as little as possible (be as boring as possible). They feed on drama, and by starving them of this supply, they will (hopefully) lose interest. Also: document, document, document any interactions with her.

He better be careful; before he marries her, he should check ahead of time that he'll get along with his wife's boyfriend(s). ... Several years back (pre-RP) I dated a single mommy I met through OKC. If she's enjoying and encouraging you to pound her hard like that, I'd say any "blame" here would be split between you two. In this case, if she wants compensation, I'd say you owe her $50 for her sheets, minus whatever she would owe you for bleeding on your sheets.

When he's an asshole, mock the guy. Make up a name for him that you call him when talking to him, but do it in a way that might/maybe/could-be friendly teasing. Say it in a laughing way that is ambiguous to some extent: are you laughing with him or at him? If he tries to make you do something that isn't his place to demand of you, simply refuse. Do it with confidence, with a laugh (see above). Also, if he makes fun of your vascularity, tell him, "That's what happens when you get strong, you shou…

It sounds to me like you have a pretty good handle on things. You can continue to escalate (while making sure she's consenting), and if things go well, then great. I agree with this, and your last two sentences are key. Give empathy to people whose actions deserve it. We all have problems in this life, if someone chooses a dishonorable way to handle their problems, they deserve to get checked. Hopefully they'll learn a better way. Also, I wanted to add that you don't always have to be an asshole when dealing with someone's hostility, but perhaps the key phrase would be "assertively setting and enforcing boundaries."

I've found that if you have positive traits which cause both admiration and jealousy ("unhappy admiration"), it is of extreme benefit to develop your ability to be an asshole/hardass. For the majority of my life I (both consciously and unconsciously) followed the path of being a "nice guy" and not retaliating when wronged. It was inculcated into me during childhood and reinforced by society later in life. However, it never really "worked" for me, in that being nice and conciliatory never stopped…

There are probably many "reputable" plastic surgeons performing rhinoplasties who shouldn't be. Lifting and becoming buff can certainly help. If there's something that can reasonably be fixed by plastic surgery (and it makes sense monetarily, etc.), then you could look into that, too. Yeah bruv, some women like to slowly chip away at a man's independence and joys in life. You have to set YOUR boundaries, too ("Tuesday night is my night out with the boys, no exceptions"). If she can't/won't respect them, you can't be with her.

I don't have a crystal ball, but my experience with human behavior is that disrespect is something which takes a while to correct, if ever. If you check someone, often they'll "play nice" until they think your guard is down, then revert to the old behavior. Unless you really make it hurt to the point they're afraid to disrespect you again.

Gain confidence through successes; try a bunch, fail some of the time, figure out how to improve, and eventually succeed. You can state your case, but at the end of the day, he'll make his own decision. If he stays in the relationship and then starts whining to you about how it's going, some subtle (or not) I-told-you-so's might be in order. But really, you can't save some people from their own bad decisions. Just accept that and focus on your own life.

It's not ideal to have to talk about this, but my experience would say the following: If Person A has "ill-intent" towards you, and is trying to befriend Person B (your friend/girlfriend/acquaintance/etc.), it's important to "beat them to the punch" so that Person A doesn't start exerting undue negative influence on Person B without some sort of counterbalance from you. In this kind of situation, I used to think I could rely on Person B being mature enough to see that Person A isn't acting in go…

An ex-gf claimed she's Aspie. She was pretty and sweet, but socially awkward. No baggage, really, except I really had to take the lead on getting the relationship off the ground; otherwise, she was submissive, sweet, and kind. Could be a little bit closed-off, but once she got to know and trust me, was warm and affectionate (definitely feminine and not like a man). It was also kind of funny that, because she was so socially inexperienced, she constantly was asking me about basic shit, in kind of…

It's a sad fact of life, but pussy-thirsty blue pill betas can be very disloyal when there's a woman involved. I've lost two "best friends" this way, to the same woman (a crazy NPD cunt whom I rejected once I realized she was nuts). It really opened my eyes to the character and integrity of such men, and the importance of associating with guys who are more at my level and self-secure. An insecure man can be manipulated and turned to whichever way the wind is blowing.

I agree about toughening up and improving yourself. I don't agree that you should just passively accept other people's shit. Let the small stuff slide off you as insignificant, but you've got to have boundaries, and that means you have to enforce them.

Absolutely what hoopingblob said. You've got to calibrate your response to the situation. Most of the time, around most people, and for most stuff they say/do, you'll want to let the small stuff slide and laugh about it. It shows confidence and that you're not threatened by every little thing. However, sometimes you've got to draw the line and "check a bitch". I remember somebody somewhere once used the metaphor of the lion and the jackals. Sometimes the lion has to remind the jackals of who he …

I've noticed this kind of stuff too as I've gotten more attractive and self-confident. Let the little stuff slide with a smile (amused mastery), because it shows weakness to become perturbed by every little thing (and would be exhausting besides). However, when something is big enough, you must address it. You can be dismissive and laugh at their assholishness without getting angry; sort of like a pressure flip. ("Look at what an asshole you are.") Also, when necessary, you can confront someone and call them out without looking out-of-control or weak. (Think "stern" or "focused di…

I guess you just have to calibrate it to "what would a normal person do." I.e., good relationships are built over time (even when you have great initial chemistry). Looks for "extremes" (i.e., "I've never met a man like you before", "You're the answer to my prayers", etc.). I've only seriously dated 1 BPD chick (to my knowledge), and she wanted to go exclusive after we'd been dating for maybe 2-4 weeks. Your relationship moves way too quickly : She starts talking about moving in together, being soulmates, and getting married early in the relationship. A girlfriend broke up with me after around 6 months of dating (basically I was her first boyfriend and she wanted to "see what was out there"). About 2 months later I sent her a short email asking her how she was doing. That day she called me and asked if we could be FWBs (she was very apologetic and kept saying "I know you deserve a real relationship"). 2 days later she came over and fucked. Looks do matter, but a guy most definitely can get laid if his attitude/demeanor are confident. At least this was true ~40 years ago. Case in point: My uncle is short, bald, wears glasses, and is nerdy looking (4-5/10). His wife is tall statuesque blond, gorgeous face and body (solid 9/10). She reports that she was immediately attracted to his energy and tried to get with him as soon as she saw him.

Yeah, incremental development is definitely part of it. I did have a few breakthrough/a-ha moments. Also when I started to see significant gains in the mirror from exercise.

Talk to him about it first. It's entirely possible he didn't realize he was offending you. Of course, it's entirely possible he did realize it, in which case... There have to be consequences which hurt. E.g., next time he does it in front of a group, laugh and say, "Thanks for reminding us what an asshole you are!" Embarrass him. If he's deliberately treating you poorly, he's doing it to make himself feel powerful/look good, so take that away from him.
