I filed for divorce and STXW had me arrested for a staged DV simple assault. So if you're typing this out on Reddit that means you're most likely out of jail already. Were you given restraining orders? Was she charged also? I went through this in Ohio 3 years ago. It wasn't quick and it wasn't pretty... Took me months to be found not guilty.. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/24 11:03 PM
Does Women / Wife ever get arrested for Domestic Violence? You are being setup. Protect yourself. Without any evidence the cops will immediately put you away and it will be months before you have a chance to State your case in court. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/10/24 01:32 AM
Child support issue if child not in custodyI had a coworker that adopted a foster child. Shortly afterwards the teenager got arrested and my coworker had to pay child support to the state of Ohio for the duration of the imprisonment. So depending on your state you might still be paying, just not to the former spouse. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/07/24 06:10 AM
I feel like I should buy expensive shit for myself…my assets will be halved anywayIt was a gift to you. Return it to them and ask them to send it back after divorce is through. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/04/24 10:04 PM
She filed for divorce, but now wants to call it offGet the divorce!!!! If you both still want a relationship without any legalities then you can date/live with her afterwards , but tell her the divorce process will not be stopped. Tell her that you can get married again later if it works out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/24 01:14 AM
Brother afraid that if he gets to divorce crazy wife might take kidsYou don't even know if your brother wants a divorce.... It kinda has to start with him. Let him know you support him and that you see her issues. Find out what kind of help she needs. Get him wise counseling for both legal and mental issues. He will have no chance without changing his job to provide daily availability for his kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/03/24 04:46 AM
My Ex Had Me KidnappedDid you forget you already posted this several times already? | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/12/23 01:19 AM
Male judge for my caseActually in my experience it was worse when the judge is male. The only judges that ruled for me were female who saw through my partners bullshit. The male judge (magistrate)was a real Capt save-a-hoe who fell for every claim she made. My attorney knew this and went around the magistrate and went to the judge directly. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/12/23 07:11 AM
Fantasize with me for a secSo hypothetically you won the Powerball lottery. If she finds out she's probably going to be living big on your greatly increased child support payments. I guess if it's truly unlimited funds then you can keep your mouth shut and make an incredible home and unlimited availability with them when it is your time...So incredible that by the time they are of age to have a choice they could scream that they want to live at dads house. This is the long game.. Slightly more evil would be to find out wh… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/12/23 01:46 AM
Met and Talked with my ExIt can happen. The mother of my oldest son and I didn't speak for 5 years after I gained custody of him as an infant. He is now 17 and her and I have a great connection through our mutual decision to be the best co-parents we can be. We obviously had issues but never said anything disrespectful of each other. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/23 12:52 AM
Moving for better schoolLol. No you're right. Do it your way | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/10/23 10:55 PM
Moving for better schoolSo you plan on going into the LOCAL courthouse and telling the LOCAL judge that the area sucks and educating children in the judges community is the equivalent of child neglect. Therefore you should have custody. Ok. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/10/23 10:50 PM
Married a few months ago, will be filing for divorce this coming week. Why does it feel like a loss to me and how can I move on?This literally cannot be a real post. No one is this stupid. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/10/23 09:01 PM
Just found out my ex-wife had a babyNo one suggested that you restart the process. Every state has it's own rules on LEGAL paternity.. for example In Ohio, if a woman is married at the time of the birth or at any time during the 300 days prior to birth, the husband is presumed to be the legal father of the child. The hospital may not put a different father’s name on the birth certificate. I don't know what state your divorce was final in or what state the child was born in but if for example it was in Ohio you would be fucked unti… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/09/23 01:49 AM
Just found out my ex-wife had a babyI don't know what state the divorce occurred in but in many of them they will not proceed with the divorce if the woman is pregnant. If I'm reading your post correctly, this would mean that she was pregnant prior to your divorce being finalized. Also, in some states, since you were married to her at the time of conception, you would be considered the legal father. If I were you, I would quickly check with my attorney regarding your state's laws in this situation. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/23 09:23 PM
US States where it's hard for a woman to get alimony? Not exactly a state but Puerto Rico has no alimony. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/08/23 06:56 PM
Is it a bad idea to blow this whole thing up?Ohio is one of the few states that still have AT FAULT divorce rules. I would file first for an AT FAULT divorce listing adultery as the reason. Do this first, letting her parents and pastor know immediately before she is served... While they will never be on your side you can appeal to them to be with you when she arrives. Their presence will hopefully keep her in check. Be prepared for all of the lies and false charges she will spew in response. It seems the only leverage you will have is the … | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/23 09:33 PM
Need advice. Do I go for broke? [TX]She abused the system by having you kicked out. Ask for all and only offer fairness if she recants the police report. She didn't just hurt you but at the same time punished the children by keeping them from you. Never forget that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/07/23 05:44 PM
I'm entirely innocent, but I might be going to jail. What do I need to know?Let your attny know that you are going camping and leave your phone off until Monday morning. Get some cash from the ATM and don't use your credit cards. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/23 01:28 AM
I'm entirely innocent, but I might be going to jail. What do I need to know?Until you know what's going on best advice I can give you is if you really think you could be arrested then leave town for a couple days because if arrested on a Friday you might sit until Monday morning to get released. Ask your attny to see how the process works in your community. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/23 01:05 AM
Ex is ordering an appraisal on my home but won't give me access to the appraiser. It will probably not happen before court. What will happen? Is there any reason for you not to get your own appraisal done? Then let the two appraisals duke it out in court. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/07/23 07:51 PM
STBX is watching all my social media accounts including this one...Hi Renee!! Hey op congrats on finding a judge that doesn't fall for the histrionics of ditched spouse. Trust me the judge might not have acknowledged the posts in the hearings but you can bet that they rolled their eyes and now consider the stbx as losing a lot of credibility. Her lawyer definitely screwed up by not talking her out of this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/06/23 11:41 AM
best state to file for divorce in for men? 3 choices please helpAre those your only choices because if I were you I'd go to Puerto Rico. No alimony and no long-term capital gains taxes under their tax rules. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/06/23 04:06 PM
Wife says we don’t spend a enough time togetherStep 1 move to another state. Step 2 make her happy until you establish residency. Step 3 get her some mental help because whatever you do to accommodate her will only work until the next issue she decides is bothering her. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/02/23 04:29 PM
Can you intentionally gamble away a few hundred grand before divorce in the stocks market so no one gets anything?Typical things I have heard of is for people to buy lots of retail items and then return them for credit after they file. Or every time you are at the store take out 50 bucks in cash when you check out. Do it often enough and it's a pile of hidden cash without showing a large withdrawal from the bank. If you are gonna gamble do it in a casino not the stock market. At least when you lose there they will give you free drinks and free rooms. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/12/22 05:54 PM
So my ex wants to bring her boyfriend to mediation...Seriously? She doesn't work. He does. If he has setup a longstanding schedule which allows him to provide then THAT is satisfying his child's best interests. Her request is about satisfying her new partners schedule, she most likely just wants free time alone with the new guy. This means that what time she has with the child will have to be shared with the new partners kids. This is NOT in the best interests of the child usually. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/11/22 05:52 PM
Do I have to pay alimony?Careful down there though. I went down to PR and fell back in love with my wife. Ruined all my plans lol. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/08/22 10:37 PM
Do I have to pay alimony?Ok here is a plan. Since the child is going to school out of state convince the wife to move to the new state. Establish residency and file for divorce there. Hopefully anywhere has better alimony rules. Or if I was you convince the wife to move to Puerto Rico with you for the capital gains laws to sell your stocks. After 6 months residency you are selling under their rules and capital gains are lowered immensely. You will still be in the US but under their tax rules not the federal rules.. Tell… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/22 08:58 PM
