OP try cold talking to people. Just a relevant sentence, like you're standing in a long line and you turn over your shoulder and say "Anyone takes out coupons and we riot." Approaching women you want to bang is hard because you've got the ulterior motive right out front. Try just talking to people. You won't talk to the hotties right away, but that's how you get better. I bet you have no problem asking someone you're not attracted to for directions. Practice on everyone; you're not going to sedu…

You look at women in a very unsettling way. Given enough time, they can tell how you look at them. I'm a shallow guy that's very focused on looks and its kept me single for a good long while; not everyone, man or woman, is like me. Sometimes people love the nerdy "cute" boys.

Most of you lack the self awareness to know where the line is, and should avoid teasing. Teasing should be like stand up comedy; if not everyone knows you're joking it's a poorly written joke and strangers didn't pay to see you bomb.

Therapy isn't something that does or doesn't work. Either you're willing to stick with it and do the hard work or you aren't. If you aren't, then I'm sorry to say you'll be stuck the way you are. Mope about the past all you want; you're responsible for the outcomes.

Op, take this down. You came here to compare yourself to others or to gloat or you're lying. All of these are bad. None of them help you. There isn't a helpful answer to any of your questions. You're approaching women. Good job.

Stop using strawman fallacies, my guy. It's little dick energy and might explain why people aren't nice to you. Also, it's called Hentai, not anime, and it's fucking art.

You sound like an incel. "I perceive my actions as respectful therefore I am entitled to respect." If you were approaching a woman for any other reason than to fuck her, I might agree with you, but be honest with yourself; they know what you're doing, and they don't have to be nice to make you stop.

What would it solve? Half of America would believe me, the other half wouldn't. There are people who believe that the Earth is flat, that vaccines cause autism, and that wearing a surgical mask to prevent the spread of a deadly virus is interfering with their "freedom". Facts don't matter. If I ever got a confession from the girl involved, then and only then would I come forward.

The courts are heavily weighted against men in these kinds of situations, that's just a fact. I was arrested and charges were brought on a persons word, alone. That should never happen. But this is our reality now as men: A woman can lie about rape, knowing that it will likely result in your arrest, the loss of your job, the loss of time and money hiring a lawyer, all while they had no intention of you serving jail time. They know they can get away with it, because short of admitting they lied, …

Not court marshaled, separated. In the state of California, a convicted felon can not possess a firearm. As part of my training, I would need to qualify on firearms to stay in the Army. I mean, you try explaining how you have a convicted felon with a top-secret clearance. How would you ever justify promoting me? How could I be in the Army and on probation? I wasn't charged with anything under UCMJ, I was convicted in a civilian court and separated from the Army as a result.

No, I got pulled from class and put in the S1 shop for the entirety. I doubt they would have let me stay in class anyways, but after 3 months and change I got left in the dust by my class and seats were hard to come by. I basically filed paperwork for my unit for the two years, and then got kicked out.

This scenario almost played out for me. There was a 50/50 chance I would have ended up exactly like this young man. I was a 22 year old Army linguist studying Arabic in Monterey, CA. A 15 year old high schooler that knew me from a weekly open mic night, told her friends at school we were dating. I didn't put it together at the time, but a lot of her friends asked me if I was really 18, to which I said "No, I've been in the Army for 4 years." The lie she told started off innocent enough, because …

You don't recover from that level of betrayal. Ever. You learn to cope with your own bullshit overreactions to peoples behavior and stop projecting your insecurities, but you'll always have those doubts. I've not had a bad break up in years as a result. I'm always like, "Welp, it was only a matter of time before you left too." Real shit way to be, I suppose. And yeah, I got a lot of therapy. They dont find it sexual going over to guys house alone is sexual at all? All of this. However you got to this point in your life where you think women should assume going over to a friends house is sexual, you need to change. The only exception would be if you followed it up with, "yeah, and I don't know, maybe we fuck later." You've deceived her using a pretext for studying (that makes you a liar, ftr), and now you're acting all shocked that women don't find it sexual to visit a male friend? D…

Well you failed right away. If you can't approach a person you actually know, then you will come off as pathetic, or maybe even holding a grudge against your mutual friend and her circle. If you absolutely must message her, start off with "This may seem out of the blue, but I saw this girl at such and such a place and she looked just like you." Maybe compliment the way she looked and use that as a reason you weren't sure. Maybe she changed her haircut/color or something. I wouldn't hold out much…

You sound very hung up on others instead of on yourself. Having a background of abuse makes it seem like you need some therapy to work through some issues. most women still play games non stop as adults. Whoah guy, you're flat out just being sexist right now. Don't make general statements about any gender. You haven't met "most women". A swab detects gun powder in seconds. 911 call logs are created simultaneously with the call. Interviews can be conducted upon arrival at the scene. I agree with most of this, actually. Dress codes in schools are puritan in their enforcement much of the time. The brastrap/shoulder thing doesn't make sense to regulate. The skirt length does. If a teacher needs to pull out a ruler, that's gone too far. It's either an obvious violation or it isn't. I don't like that they switch to "teach your boys" crap at the end. I never complained as a young person, that's just adults trying to control teenage hormones. Don't try and blast young boys for the…

Women don't know what they want. Same goes for men. We all have this caricature of the person we want to be with, but we honestly don't know what will makes us content in the long run. I'm not surprised women would self report social norms. Are they asking single, married, or equal amounts of both groups? I have met women that have told me they think men crying makes them a bitch. I've also met women who don't trust men who never cry. Neither is so prominent that I would believe most women are a…

I don't think they even mean any harm. There's a reason why kids (little ones) aren't supposed to be interviewed by cops. Leading questions can screw with the trust dynamic and even trigger a false positive. Example: while wearing diapers, your parents are going to touch your genitals frequently to clean you up. But if you ask a toddler "Has Daddy ever touched your private parts", you're not going to get a nuanced answer of "Yes, but never in a sexual way." A toddler will just say yes, and if th…

They like to believe that children don't lie just "to see what happens." Like the one time a Redditor told his friends he had sex with his Mom before understanding what sex is. I think if they're going to go forward with an investigation, they need to go the full mile and examine the girl. If they're unwilling to do even that much, then drop the case.
/r/MensRights01/05/18 02:10 AM
21

Take it with a grain of salt: children rarely give false accusations unless they've been coached to do so. Unless you have family that hates you, your chances of being falsely accused by a child relative are effectively nil.

Strawman fallacy. Men know better, because no one ever told us that you can't hit men. So we learned not to provoke people. You certainly don't kick a man in his junk and expect to get off Scott free. The women in this video look shocked because they fully expected to get away with verbally and physically assaulting this young man. They did not. Women, not men, have been emboldened ny society to use their gender as a shield. Dont try to misrepresent what I said.

Re Ellen-Katy, why is there always a reason female public sexuality is okay and male not? It's a moot question seeing as there isn't anything wrong with male sexuality, and we're not talking about male public sexuality. I see a lot of people also tending to gloss over the fact that Ellen is an entertainer and a comedian. This isn't something I need to entertain. One of his victims immediately called the police, and then went back in wearing a wire. That audio put my aprehensions to rest. The dude was an utter creep who used his position to try and manipulate women. I couldn't care less if a woman obeyed his requests and slept with him. The request should never have been made.

I think unless you personally understand the relationship between Katy and Ellen, or at the very least have heard Katy complain about the issue, it would be best not to apply your own labels to their interactions. A comedian (Ellen) making a joke with a friend (Katy) in public, does not compare to people in positions of influence sexually assaulting others. I think the feminist answer is ridiculous, but so is this non-issue involving Katy Perry and Ellen Degeneres.

Do you not understand english? All of the charges are dropped except the ones you are pleading to as part of the plea agreement. Your question doesn't make any sense because you haven't listed a degree. If you had 1st degree dropped for a 2nd degree charge, yes that's exactly how a plea agreement works. The original charges are not being carried forward in the way they were originally constructed. That's what makes it a DEAL.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Right now there isnt any new evidence. Right now there isn't any new charge being leveled against him. Right now he is innocent, 100%. If you needed me to explain it you should just say so: It is immoral for people to treat him like he is anything less than innocent of the crime. Hypotheticals are just that. If the evidence isn't/was't/won't be there, it makes no difference. He was found innocent, and it's shitty for people to treat him otherwise.

Crazy that they might promote openness about such things. I feel like any other child in any other household wouldn't even speak up about it. We can't know, so don't suggest it. Neither case is more likely.

" Most shockingly, their suicide mortality rose almost 20-fold above the comparable nontransgender population. This disturbing result has as yet no explanation" There's a higher suicide rate among all non-cis people. For many years they haven't had the same rights/protections/public support that they do today. But following your logic to fruition, you mean to say: It doesn't matter. He'll be suicidal either way.

Says who? It's a major decision yes, but you're banking on the kid being wrong about it. What-if's aren't of any concern to me. What is matters. This child says he wants to be a she. His parents support him in that. This thread is filled with paranoia, claims of child abuse, and remarking on this boys inability to make decisions for himself. Stop it. Edit: if this have been Islamic extremists killing civilians, not a single one of you would bat an eye if the populace tortured and lynched them. But because these are conscripted soldiers that surrendered, suddenly It's a tragedy when they die.

Sure it sounds good, but logically this does not work in anyones favor. If you prove someone is lying and they haven't confessed, then I'd agree with you. Sometimes however, people just can not bring themselves to confess they screwed up. ESPECIALLY when we're talking about prison time. If a person makes an accusation against someone else, but the suspect is found innocent, does that prove that th…

No, without the paranoia she wouldn't have been able to bargain like this. And this is her fault how? She's using the leverage that exists, she didn't create it. The wage gap myth is a myth, but it just landed her $500k an episode. She bargained. That's all there is to it.

The age gap is actually what they look at in those situations. An 18 year old having sex with a 17 year old isn't even slightly immoral/illegal. A bigger gap is acceptable if the two people have been dating since before one turned 18. The courts look at the relationship, as much as the actions themselves.

I laugh at states like Cali that have this affirmative consent law bullshit floating around. You basically have to ask "Can I have sex with you now?" before, and during the act. But then a girl can just lie about it unless you have it on camera and you're still going away. Generally though you won't have sex in a vaccum: there are texts, receipts of what you drank, what she drank, follow up texts/emails/calls, and again physical evidence of abuse. Is there any reason for me to get tested other than peace of mind and to be able to tell future partners? The earlier you diagnose HIV, the more effective the treatments are. You can nearly reverse infection nowadays, but the damage it can due to you by the time you show actual symptoms, can not be healed in most cases. That's just one of them. Basically, some thing can lie dormant for a long time. If it sneaks up on you, you will rationalize how "this couldn't be an std, because I haven't slept…

The woman, "Jane Roe," is not a UT-Austin student, which raises an important question: Should a university really have a responsibility to meddle in students' private sex lives when parents of non-students file complaints? How about why the fuck is someone in a position of leadership at a university so stupid that this question even needs to be asked? You know what, I hope he sues them for his entire tuition.

Or maybe address the fact that forcibly inserting a pool cue into someones anus is not somehow better than or different than rape. The victim was sexually penetrated in the anus. It's rape. This shouldn't be a discussion that needs having.

She swears under oath during a deposition in 2011 she has never been abused by Dr.Luke back. There is correspondence between Kesha and Dr.Luke after the fact that suggests they were still amicable for many many years. Kesha then accuses Dr.Luke of rape when she was 18, so she can get out of her contract. No one is buying it, and now there's evidence to suggest Kesha tried to blackmail …

It all started when they said "drunk sex is rape." Not on the part of both parties, mind you. Just men. It started there. Women learned there is a LOT to be gained by lying about such things, and now they do. Remember when being afraid of clowns became popular? Or more recently, before it was discredited, gluten intolerance? People will lie about things that aren't important and they believe you can't prove. And then rape became that thing. California allows you to expunge after a plea? That's actually fairly reasonable It's a little more complicated, and it is not an expungment. At this point I wasn't sure if I'd ever see him alive again. He says to me "My wife doesn't like surprises." So I'm all "Huh. Well I guess that's that then." I've never spoken to him since. I hit the genetic lottery with my Mom though. Her and her new husband stood by me, and this was a very validating experience for everyone involved.

That was the reason the DA offered a plea agreement. By taking it I absolved her and the state of any wrongdoing. It was a clever tactic, and one which I wasn't even considering at the time. I was more interested in keeping my pretty ass out of prison.

I just have to shake my head. She was forced to leave town when others found out what she had done. The closest thing I ever got was a video statement she was asked to give. She started crying and when the counselor or whatever asked what was wrong she said "I feel like I ruined his life." It's in that moment I think I stopped hating her so much. She was just a scared kid, and I can think of about 50 things the investigating officer and the DA fucked up. I have no idea if she is remorseful or no…

Answer to your first question: She was an acquaintance through other friends that were older. I had two choices. Roll the dice on 30+ years in prison. Or take probation with the caveat that I would be able to have it reduced possibly in he future. When you're faced with that decision it becomes a no brainer. I don't like to gamble anyhow, and certainly not with my life. No actually. I was given a General with Honorable Conditions. I'm actually up to re-enlist. My Chain of Command was well inform…

Weird thing that I don't have an answer to. We were able to demonstrably prove to the DA she lied multiple times in her witness statements, including making VAST changes to her original statement. Why would they continue to prosecute me after all that? Man, I wish I knew.

The hardest part for me was the social stigma of simply being accused. When people heard I took a plea agreement, their brain checks out and they immediately think I was just trying to get away with something. I couldn't convince people that I was being prosecuted with zero physical evidence. But that's just how people think of things. No one believes people are arrested without reason. How did I get through it? I lied. A lot. To a lot of people, including every job I worked for. As far as I was…

No, because I agreed to a plea agreement, I gave up those rights. Knowing what I know now that was a mistake on my part, but I was just a scared kid. And if I DID sue them somehow, they'd be much less likely to do such things for people like me. The judge and the DA that allowed this to happen were not the man hating people that came after me with nothing but a witness statement. Not all of them were bad. The system is just fucked.

Are we equal or not? Each persons mentality is different from the next one. Men want sex as much as women do my friend, but as teenagers, boys want it more than any other time in their lives. That doesn't mean its worse for a teenage girl to be sexually abused than a boy. Society lambasts promiscuous women as negative, and a girls first time can be painful, not including the risk of pregnancy. Women have more hangups about sex early on, but that doesnt equate to a different mentality about sex. …

I disagree. If they were all in a similar state, they would not have been raping that woman. They were not at equal levels of intoxication. Not even close. How can you even suggest that men who are recording video are in the same state as a barely conscious woman? How does that even make sense?

I think this thread in particular has adequately covered the spectrum of blackout vs. Incapacitated. This woman was not black out drunk. She was incapacitated. That's why the case was originally ally thrown out before the video surfaced. They couldn't prove she wasn't just blacked out drunk. Once the video surfaced, they got charged. Rightfully so.

No one has a problem with drunk sex. Raping an unconscious woman is what we're talking about. Which there is cell phone footage of by the way. Getting drunk and refusing, or being unable to recognize the signs that "Gee this chick isn't moving anymore" and continuing to assault her, doesn't make you innocent. It makes you a piece of shit that shouldn't be allowed in to exist in this society.

If you meet an obviously wasted (12 shots!) stranger, and the first thing you think of is "let's run a train on her", you're a rapist. I prefer not to jump to conclusions in these situations, but the evidence is beyond damning. It's about not tolerating the idea of an exception in this case when men don't get the same treatment in other cases. Would you be ok with this happening to a man? This exact situation, would you be ok with it? No you wouldn't. Then to be fair and honest, we can't tolerate it happening to women either. It's not an "exception" for any miscarriage of justice to be corrected, regardless of sex. No mens rights are being trampled here. It doesn't concern them.
/r/MensRights26/11/14 07:05 AM

What double standard is at play here? She's paying the child support. She lost and is paying her ex 16 THOUSAND dollars a month. The system was broken in this case for completely unrelated reasons. If your purpose was to expose a societal double standard of women getting everything in divorce settlements and custody battles, you chose a truly shitty example, no offense.

Guys, whether or not the system is skewed for women, this is still unjust. 16K a month with joint custody? That's bullshit no matter how you spin it. I wouldn't want that happening to a man or a woman. Don't make it about petty revenge against the female sex. That's not way to bring people to your cause and understand the injustice. If we're truly about equality, we have to demand the treatment we want to see for everyone.

My biggest concern is, would this be smart to do without having a lawyer present? No, it wouldn't. He will have to be very very careful about not getting sucked into a discussion about his relationship with this other person. He has said, and I have reitterated, he can not afford an attorney. Television makes it seem like everyone and their brother has an attorney like they have family doctors. Only the moderately affluent have attorneys on speed dial. Unless he can find someone to represent him…

After re-reading your comment I think a better answer would be, yes they are going to try and trick him. His only purpose there is to show up and express that this is concerning to him. That he is afraid of this woman and doesn't understand why she would do this. He's asking for help. Chances are, the police will give him none. The actual stay away order will come from the court house. The county clerk will help him do the paperwork for it.

I think I already mentioned this, but he may not get one from the police. He should avoid questioning on that situation at all costs, and stick to the woman accusing him of drugging her basically.

if she hasn't gone to the police, just deny the accusations. you'll be fine. OP, I implore you to disregard everything /u/camdaniel has said. I don't mean to sound like he intentionally gave you bad advice, and it would make sense from a logical standpoint but just a headsup: nothing that happens from here on out is going to be logical. I actually read you comment where you said you can't afford a lawyer, and having been through the system for rape charges I can tell you that most people can't a…

OP, ignore this advice. I'm posting a comment and will PM you directly. I'm seeing all bad ideas from everyone who never went through this. I have. brb.

I don't think it is for either sex. I think it diminishes the concept of rape as a whole, to call a consensual relationship rape. To me rape has to be forced onto another person, using drugs, physical force, serious deception, or coercion/blackmail. Statutory is icky, but it isn't necessarily violent or traumatic automatically.

Preface this comment by saying I was accused of an inappropriate sexual relationship with two 14 year old girls back in 2009, while I was 22. I was innocent of these charges, but the whole ordeal made me ask some serious questions about how we treat men. I'm not going to answer questions about that situation, but you can go through my submission history if you want to know more. On to the comment. I have differing opinions about the moral/legal discussion of these ages, and current age of consen…

Homesteading. It isn't for everyone, but going off grid or even just leaving the U.S. might help. I hate to offer two severe choices like that, but it's America that's failing. Maybe start fresh in another country? I really hope the best for you two and I hope you stick by him. Going through that is tough business :(

Why is the kid the most mature person in that entire chain of messages? I have hope for the future all of a sudden.

This title is crazy amounts of misleading. The woman recanted her story and her father got a new trial. The DA decided it would be impossible for a jury to reach a valid verdict in either case so she dropped the charges. He was not found innocent by a court of law, and the alleged victim remained and alleged victim.

I am a male and if I had been 14-15 years and had had the opportunity to have sex with a woman I would have loved it. Some teenage girls feel the same way. Why do you think teenage girls are averse to sex? she hasn't 'hurt' anyone! Well that's an opinion not supported by child developmental psychologists. While you may feel like no harm was done, it just isn't the case. At any rate, a person who is older is taking advantage of a teenager because they are simply naive about the whole thing. That'…

Ha as if I'm even allowed within 500 feet of anyone involved. I might be able to stage something with a friend, but... ya that's a super duper long shot. I don't know where they are and I don't think I want to know.

Franklin, TN here. I had 3 teachers over the age of 40 (I'm guessing they were that old). And the rest (about 30 of them) between 23 and 30. You're misinformed, or trolling. In either case, the downvotes to your comments are coming from more than just a couple people sooo I'd probably start thinking about not using your own anecdotal experiences as science. We don't take kindly to that shit here.

This. Do I think a 16 year old will be scarred for life for having consensual sex with someone a few years older than her? No. How about 5 years older? Still no. 10 years? I don't see why that changes anything. 25 years? Eww, but still don't think it's going to screw her up. I like that we have statutory laws in place because younger folks can be manipulated easier by people in positions of authority. It's a captive audience problem. Young girls are forced to be in the same room with male superi…
