I'm a huge Lana Del Rey fan (I know - a straight male Lana fan is rare!) and the whole situation is very toxic. She didn't express herself brilliantly with her statement, but I think it's obvious what she was getting at overall. I wouldn't have considered that it was anything to do with race if there wasn't such uproar. Lana's friends with some of the artists she named, so it's not like she has a vendetta against them. Then again, when Twitter wants blood, it'll go find it.

Still, it's a good start towards portraying fathers as equal partners to mothers. I've never seen baby products feature men before.

In Phillips' seat (Birmingham Yardley) during the 2019 election, she earned 54% of the vote, but slightly lost support (I think a 2% drop or something). She's becoming quite unpopular amongst her Labour peers (very outspoken) and it wouldn't surprise me if this lost her a lot of her supporters. A lot of people only vote for her because she's a Labour MP, so it's quite possible that she'd be replaced if there was another worthy Labour member prepared to take up the mantle.

Every time I see Jess Phillips' name in the news, she says something to make me dislike her more than I already do. What a repulsive woman. The fact that even Labour supporters have torn into her about this is quite telling.

That's something new, all of the comments are in support of the father. That's surprising and very refreshing. I think he sounds like a wonderful dad and I'm not surprised he lost his cool. The fact his ex smirked like a playground bully and didn't even try to talk to her daughters tells you all you need to know about her.

Considering the government (and a good chunk of the population) were keen to strip her of her citizenship and ban her from returning to the country, I doubt they'd take any measures they'd not be forced to take. Even so, it wouldn't surprise me if she'd have her location leaked.

She's either brave or stupid for wanting to come back here. Everyone knows her face and her name - if anyone spots her at all, she'd likely receive nonstop abuse and it wouldn't shock me if she was attacked or killed. She'll have no choice but to go into hiding.

In the vast majority of cases, it's the woman who gets custody of the kids. Whilst women do get fucked over sometimes, it's by far and large the men who do

Roughly 50% of first marriages end in divorce and the % grows staggeringly with every extra marriage after that. There is absolutely no reason for people to not get a prenup before marriage. Divorces are stacked against men horrifically so you'd be a fool to not at least try and protect yourself with a prenup (though they may not be withheld). No doubt this kind of nonsense will just lead to a decline in marriages as fewer men see the point in sticking their neck out on the line for little retur…

It's disgraceful that The Sun is still going. It's even been banned in some parts of the UK because they refuse to sell the venomous rag. As has already been pointed out, they mostly sell to the working class, but they also attack the working class viciously so we're left with a bizarre paradox. I hope Johnny wipes them clean, he deserves it. The Sun needs to go and I hope this helps bring the end of that toxic rag. Good luck Johnny.

I get that they're just teenagers and possibly don't quite grasp the severity of OP's situation, but it's quite concerning that they're asking these questions as they may end up becoming problematic internalised issues. It's just gearing the next generation of adults to not take men's issues seriously.

It's absolutely ridiculous. She's just lumping fathers in with the 'All Lives Matter' brigade just so she has an excuse to shit on men. There are also single mothers hijacking it and saying the day should be for them too. Fuck off, you have Mother's Day and single fathers don't try and hijack that.

I recommend you watch a film called 'A Short Film About Killing' - it was so shocking in its exploration in capital punishment that it caused the Polish government to put a 5-year moratorium on the death penalty.

It's a Sacha Baron Cohen joke, yes. I was downvoted for saying it, but it's just the reversal of a joke said in one of his films. It's just a typical troll post.

I hate how journalists constantly have to compare male to female domestic violence. In a piece about female domestic violence, they'd never mention male domestic violence by means of a comparison. It's not a competition. It doesn't matter who "has it worse" - what matters is that men and women are being domestically abused, which is absolutely abhorrent. Rather than trying to diminish men's abuse as it's apparently not as common as women's abuse, it'd be far more sensible to unify and recognise …

I don't know about you gentlemen, but I've never known a guy to be accused of sexual assault and have all his friends and family just laugh it off and say, "Boys will be boys'". If I found out my mate sexually assaulted someone, I'd be absolutely horrified. Do they really think we just shrug it off like it's nothing?

It's funny, because British left-wingers call the BBC a Tory mouthpiece whilst British right-wingers call the BBC a leftist mouthpiece. As a centrist, I think it's pretty much as impartial as news reporting can be. People seem to assume that if a news outlet doesn't report the news according to their ideological slant, it must be in opposition to them.

The only thing I like about The Guardian is that sometimes, the culture pages are pretty interesting and recommend some good music/films. Apart from that, I find it to be, as you say, finger-wagging pseudo-intellectualism. It's what middle-class southerners like to read so they can stroke their egos and feel like they're part of the intelligentsia.

Subs like those are the reason I make sure I don't take anything I see on Reddit too seriously. It's not representative of the real world. Many men use subs such as FDS and BlackpillFeminism to construct the way women think (or how they think they do), which is just the road to misery. I became much happier once I told myself that Reddit does NOT represent the majority of women and that there are plenty who don't hate men simply for existing.

Reading their comments made me shake my head. Not only are they utterly shameless in their hatred, but they're actually proud of it. Imagine if we replaced 'male' with 'female' - if we did, they'd go absolutely nuts.

It's the same with FemaleDatingStrategy. Absolutely abhorrent sub that seeks only to attack men merely for existing. There's nothing constructive to be found from these subs and they're best avoided.

It's from my experience too. I've only ever had 1 girlfriend, who's also the only person I've ever had sex with, and she tried claiming that I attempted to sexually assault her early on in the relationship. I didn't, and she knew it. I only found out several months later when her friend felt really guilty and told me about it. Then when I confronted my ex, she got angry and said I had no right to know because it was said in confidence. I know I shouldn't let 1 psychopath ruin my perception, but …

For me, it's not even worth the hassle. Maybe I'm just being too paranoid, but it's not worth the accusation and inevitable consequences. 'Guilty even when proven innocent' seems to be the mantra of today. There aren't even apologies when people's lives have been destroyed by it all. The media never apologised for Johnny Depp's treatment, they're just suddenly acting like they've always been on his side.

What annoys me about #MeToo is that when you bring up the false charges, people say you're getting worked up too much over something that isn't as common as the actual legitimate abuse. Whilst there probably is more actual abuse going on than false charges/reports, it doesn't mean we should totally ignore them as some people suggest. I'm laughed at for being too paranoid to even attempt relationships or anything of the sort because of my fear of false reports. The truth is, a lot of men are too …

AITA is as anti-man as Female Dating Strategy. If OP is a man, he's the asshole, if the OP is a woman, she's not the asshole. Check when people have done experiments, changing the identity of OP from male to female using the exact same text. They rallied behind the women and attacked the men. Absolute nonsense.

I think men should be charged with rape if they lie about birth control and women if they lie. Rather than letting both off scot-free, I think it's only fair both are prosecutable acts. The law needs to change to make it illegal. It's sex under false pretence, and has disastrous consequences.

I think something resembling social media in some form was inevitably going to be created at some point. I don't think it was a mistake to create it, but I definitely think it was a mistake to let kids as young as 13 use it. Then again there are kids as young as 4 with smartphones who use lie about their age, so it'd happen anyway. Social media certainly made my life hell because I was viciously bullied and I had fake accounts made of me and this lasted for several years. I think the echo chambe…

As someone from the first generation to grow up with social media, I can guarantee you that it's had a net negative effect on us all. I'm 19 and had Facebook from age 12 and dabbled with Twitter and Instagram (before deleting them and never looking back) and I think it's made me have a skewed view of the world. When you see "sassy" tweets like this, it just absolutely destroys your self esteem. Social media is just a platform for toxicity to be applauded and it often leaks into real life. When y…

To me, prenups are very smart decisions, but so many people see them as insulting. In a world where approximately 50% of marriages end in divorce, I think you'd be mad to not have one.
/r/MensRights15/01/20 10:51 PM

If they're not willing to split on the first date (first impressions and all), then what does that say what they'll be like further down the line? The entitlement is so toxic. By making the man always pay, they're saying that their time is worth so much that the man has to pay for the privilege of spending time with them. Fuck that. If that happened to me, I'd be gone like the wind.
/r/MensRights02/01/20 09:34 PM

The premise of MGTOW is no different to women being independent. When women do it, it's sisters doing it for themselves, but when men do it, it's misogynistic and pathetic. As you said, some of the posts are misogynistic, but that's not a part of the movement.
/r/MensRights31/12/19 11:49 PM

As an example, the MGTOW movement doesn't exist because men feel respected and valued. To a lot of men, it's not worth the hassle to enter the minefield.

Definitely. I think it showed really well how women's rights and men's rights are compatible - they aren't mutually exclusive. Overall, I think all feminists and men's rights activists should watch the film.

Ah that's a shame, but at least you got to see it! I thought it was brilliant. I thought that as impressive as it was that there were people fighting for men's rights in the film, the most impressive part was that the lady doing the documentary learnt that we aren't the enemy - being a men's right activist doesn't mean that you hate women at all. We're all fighting for equal rights, just from different angles.

Wow, I didn't know even half of this, I'm ashamed to say. Thanks for the information! If only more people knew. In terms of men being in more danger when they're on nights out, I understand that personally - I live near the red light district of my town and whenever I come back from a night out or am just out walking late, I usually end up being shouted over by several prostitutes, all with their pimps patrolling the area, staring me down. I'd say that's pretty unsafe.

She thinks I need to apologise because in the Facebook post I made (linked in my post), I said that the courts are biased against men, which she took extreme issue with. I meant divorce and child custody courts in particular. That's what I was thinking. They conflated IMD with being anti-women, which it obviously isn't. I'm not taking it any further with them, as I'm already unpopular enough as it is. For university students, they're incredibly bigoted and narrow-minded.

I agree absolutely. A lot of people seem to assume that you can't believe in women's rights if you're a man and vice versa. I'm a guy and I push for both. People need to realise that men and women are disadvantaged in different ways, and we should join together to help combat these issues.

They're also the first people to criticise MGTOW. "Why do men feel the need to identify with MGTOW?" Because of this absolute bullshit. Rape is horrific if it happens to a woman (which it absolutely is) but hilarious and weakness when it happens to a man. These are the same people who have the audacity to claim that toxic masculinity is why men hide their feelings. No! THIS is exactly why!

I was in an emotionally and psychologically abusive relationship (only slapped me once so I'd not call it physically abusive) and I feel the same. That thread just made me feel like my whole trauma is invalid just because it happens to women more. I support victims of abuse regardless of being male or female. Just because it happens to women more doesn't mean it doesn't happen to men and it CERTAINLY doesn't take away from men's suffering. It's such a bullshit rhetoric that if you're in the mino…

The same company which refused to let a little boy have Spiderman on his gravestone because it'd 'ruin the magic' for other children. No Disney, you're a fucking piece of shit company and have totally destroyed the dream Walt Disney had. Disney is nothing more than a money machine with absolutely no passion or heart.

I don't like that feminists say that they're just as much about men's rights as women's rights. No, that's egalitarianism. Feminism is defined as "the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes" This assumes that equality of the sexes would be achieved through the advocacy of female rights, which, by definition, assumes that men have all the rights they need and that only women's rights need to be fought for in order for equality of the sexes to be achieved.

Imagine making that comment on the original post. Anyone questioning this and saying how men deserve networks too are being shot down by gangs of commenters.

For context, this is a comment on the Facebook post that the BBC News page made of this article on harrassment

That's quite an interesting statistic, where did you get that from? I agree, it definitely helps understand.

'his efforts to appeal his conviction were unsuccessful, in part because Denver police threw away DNA evidence from the attack' That is absolutely fucking atrocious. I know this case was a whole ago, but this man's life has been ruined and there's nothing that can be done to serve him proper justice. The fact this happened is one of the biggest injustices of our time.

That's what I was thinking. Sexual assault/drugging of any type is wrong. It's not a tit-for-tat thing where we have to one-up each other.

I don't know enough about trans people for me to make a committed conviction, so I don't deny or accept the ideology or ideas about it

They're a trans model called Betty Black. There were others in the thread but s/he is the one who denied rape.

It was a bunch of American trans activists who were arguing with me. Some of them were organisers in fairly big trans organisations, which is upsetting because it tars them all with a bad brush. Women can be just as predatory as men and the fact that people don't address it is insane. They all went for me personally too, mocking my profile picture and posts about men's rights and International Men's Day so it shows how great they are as people...

One of them took a screenshot of my profile and in my featured photos, I've got the "Do it for her" Simpsons meme with Albert Camus as the subject of it (saying 'Do it for him') and they accused me of ruining a Simpsons meme with "MRA bullshit". This gremlin managed to victimise themselves by a harmless meme about my favourite writer...

I'm really sorry that happened to you. Are you okay now? Also, that just laugh reacted my comments so I don't think they're gonna accept any logic here.

They were arguing with each other yesterday about being frisked in airports. One trans person was attacked for saying they'd never felt uncomfortable when frisked and then they attacked them saying that they were trying to invalidate oppression experienced by other members of the trans community

rape NOUN mass noun The crime, typically committed by a man, of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their will.
