I hear you—and I’m really glad you shared this. Wanting friendship, especially the kind of solid, grounded connection that can come from being around other men, makes so much sense. We all need that kind of community—where we can just exist, be seen, talk about real things, or even just be quiet together without pressure. You’re not asking for too much. You’re asking for something deeply human. And it’s completely valid to feel discouraged when those kinds of friendships have been missing for so…

Hey—thank you so much for sharing this. I just want to start by saying: your pain makes sense. The loneliness, the hopelessness, the belief that you’re unlovable—those aren’t random thoughts. They’re stories shaped by real experiences, real disappointments, and real unmet needs. You’re not broken or weak for feeling this way. You’re human, and you’re hurting—and it’s okay to say that out loud. What you wrote about feeling like you don’t deserve love even though you know you have love to give—tha…

That’s a really thoughtful observation, and I can understand how frustrating and disheartening it must feel to see conversations about men’s pain constantly tethered to reminders of male wrongdoing—as if men’s suffering needs to be contextualized or qualified in a way that women’s often doesn’t. You’re absolutely right to name that this dynamic shows up often—especially during moments that are supposed to be about advocating for men’s well-being. It can feel like there’s no space to grieve or re…

Thank you for your raw honesty. The depth of your pain is clear, and I want to start by saying: you are not broken, you are not worthless, and you are not alone in feeling like this. What you’re going through is excruciatingly human—the ache of loneliness, the anger at rejection, the grief of lost connection and unfulfilled dreams. These aren’t just feelings—they’re valid emotional responses to real losses and unmet needs. You’re speaking from a place of deep emotional starvation, and it makes s…

It can be a quick way to gain influence, because the incentive on the app is to garner more views so the app makes more money. It’s not unique to misandry, I see misogynists do it too. Clicks = influence = money = clicks = influence etc etc etc. It can be challenging to see the social media sphere headed this way; it sucks when ignoring nuance and seeing all men as 1 dimensional is “trendy”.

Changing my statement? You responded with something I didn’t fully agree with or understand. Each of your comments required me to add more to my own context. And yes, next time I’ll be sure to add as much context as possible. And goddamn, could you maybe lead with some open curiosity without assuming my intent next time? This is a Reddit thread…you’re reading words…words missing a ton of context. Next time, rather than jumping right to “Oh this fucking guy what an idiot I’m going to expose his l…

Giving a damn without flipping into “what about”. People really do underestimate the necessity of validation BEFORE problem solving. Thanks again, helpful info for sure!

What? Okay, let me clarify. Yes, you are correct that those jobs also deal with people who are vulnerable. Yes, you are correct that to say therapists are the only ones hurting people in a unique way with a unique skill set would be flawed logic. People, not only men, are being told therapy is the most effective answer. They’re not told what type of therapy, what modality, what area of experience, what schools of thought they may or may not be walking into. Then they enter into a system that has…

REALLY insightful post! Thank you for taking the time to gather all this! Question: What would it look like to take all of this pain seriously—not to win the bs “gender war,” but to actually help men live longer, freer, and more joyful lives? It seems like some of the hostility around this conversation comes from us feeling deeply unheard and unseen in our suffering. How might we build support systems and emotional cultures that truly meet men where they are, without needing to blame others to j…

A lot of us are taught that our value comes from fixing things, saving others, or being the strong one. That instinct can come from a good place—and it can also become exhausting. The “savior complex” isn’t about calling that bad—it’s about noticing when helping turns into self-erasure, control, or constant burnout. You deserve relationships where you’re valued for who you are, not just what you do for others. Letting go of the need to rescue everyone isn’t weakness—it’s what makes room for real…

You’re right—there’s lots of professions with similar power dynamics and this was not a sweeping judgement. Those other professions you listed are not literally dealing with vulnerable minds and then given the tools to manipulate those minds in the manner therapists can do. I’m not saying every therapist everywhere always is awful so fuck them. I’m saying the profession as a whole could use a real update on practice, accountability, and the structure of care.

So presently then, if I’m understanding, we have two months of celebration currently? June and November?

Oohhh thanks for clarifying! Got it. Movember came after International Mens Health Week/Month then?

Fucking goddamn therapists man…the power dynamic is unhinged

Yeah, I’m pretty sure November is also about men’s health? Either way, I do find it poetic that we are trying to find pride in being men during a month literally called pride month lol

We get this month and November no? I’m confused. Is it not in the interest of men to celebrate Pride month AND Mens mental health month at the same time? I’m genuinely curious and not attempting to make light or be facetious.

Yeah, that's something I hear that a lot--many mental health professionals are ill equipped to show up for us. I'm not sure what the exact guidelines are in this group--I'm still navigating the space and trying to be respectful! If it is allowed, and this comment isn't removed--feel free to reach out to me. I'm creating a DBT Skills Group specially for men. If the moderator is cool with it, I'll drop an email, if not--no worries. Either way, DBT can be super effective. If you want help with lang…

That's fuckin awful. You have BPD--have you gone through any Dialectical Behavior Therapy? I ask because that was the first thing I did after my diagnosis.

This is an important question. Thank you for bringing it up; who do you think perpetrates this more? Is it men pressuring other men to adhere to certain body types to be seen as "successful"? Is it women? Is it a specific type of person? Cause I agree--it's completely odd to me how judging someone based on penis size (even though 70-90% of women will never be able to achieve orgasm by penile penetration alone) is seen as socially acceptable but judging women by breast size or butt size or anythi…

Hey man, I have BPD too. This sounds awful and painful.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
