I went through two rounds of mediation before coming to an agreement. Some mediators have court experience and will chime in accordingly. Your ex sounds like she's got a screw loose, but may be asserting herself to try and spook you into a much better settlement for her, or she truly believes she's entitled to the lion's share. Either way, don't fall for it. Your attorney should help you prepare your financial statements and what you want as far as assets, custody, and so on. They should also he…

100%. On paper I also "couldn't afford" an attorney, but I made it happen and am way better off because of it.

I could not possibly care less what my ex chooses to do with her last name. Keep it, go back, whatever, no skin off my nose. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Consult a good attorney on your next steps and strategy, ASAP. That will bring your efforts into focus. You'll get plenty of advice and opinions here, but if it's not based on a breadth of experience with similar cases in your jurisdiction, it's not relevant to your situation.

She belongs to the streets, just like mine. Not my circus, not my monkeys. Why did you ask her about it at all? The only closure, enlightenment, or peace I get from my ex now is in completely ignoring her existence outside of legal obligations.

I ran into this dilemma myself recently. I'm fine with having all those photos in storage, but the untimely memories with the ex popping up every day or so are another matter, especially around the holidays. I use Google Photos on Android and was able to turn these off while allowing other memories to still show up: Tap profile pic at top right Go to Photo settings > Preferences > Memories > Hide people & pets Add face(s) to the "show less" or "blocked" lists I went with showing less and am happ…

We are hoping to get signoff on it outside of court first. I seriously doubt she tries denying or hiding it at this point, but we'll have to see.

I prefer to leave out details for now. Will likely post an update if all goes well.

Fair point, all I can say to that is my lawyer didn't flinch or hedge when I asked specifically about it. Probably because it would be impossible for her to try and backtrack at this point.

Understood, just following my lawyer's lead. The statute is quite clear, and the ex didn't even try to hide it.

My understanding is evidence (via PI or self-produced) or admission. I got the latter.

She admitted it openly with our lawyers, so no need for a PI. And I think she might know about the consequences now, but not from me.

Pretty sure she made that part very easy by admitting it to the lawyers.

All good on the lawyer, divorce is under way. No need for a PI when they openly admit it.

No need to prove anything when they just admit to it in the right setting.

She volunteered the information with our lawyers when asked. Bad move... pun intended.
