I don't think this is anti-male. This is referencing retirement for everyone, which now includes a lot more females than it did in the 30s. I think the comment is rather neutral. Seems like a logical argument too, even if I don't like the outcome. The SS age wasn't "indexed to inflation" so to speak. But who are we kidding, we're not retiring at 78 anyway with how insolvent SS is and with inflation going the way it is.

No opt out option. If you have that option, women can still play the “you don’t trust me card” since men don’t have the “it’s required without exception” line to fall back on

How do you counter the “you don’t trust me” retort? Even trying explaining with “I know you won’t, but if somehow you did, but the impact is huge and that’s the issue” but her perception of that viewpoint is it’s still a lack of trust?

Firefly and Arrested Development (s1-s3 only) are solid picks from the 2000s. I also really liked Last Resort, another 1 season show from mid-2010s that had a chance to wrap up the story.

I’ve seen this before and have the same opinion, so bring on the downvotes. A glancing slap to the back of the head from a 120lb girl with no footing for power does not warrant a squared up power hook from a 250+lb dude who has three friends helping him. I’m all for PPD but this was an unnecessary escalation in force.

A rather uninformed way say that. In Ephesians he tells believers to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Then he applies that general statement to wives and husbands specifically. Wives (should) submit to husbands in the same way Christians (should) submit to Christ. Husbands (should) love their wives the way Christ loved the church: give up yourself for her good. I say “should” because we fail regularly in those pursuits. If husbands and wives were both consistently thinking of t…

I’ve been trimming FB connections over the past 6 months or so. On the one hand I don’t want an echo chamber, but I’m sick of feeling like it’s me and three other people vs the rest of my “friends” list. Plus, if constitutional viewpoints like “hate speech is free speech” and “all gun laws are infringements” become punishable by law, I’d rather not have radical socialists / authoritarians able to see those posts

Conservative? Christian? Accountant? Same here :) It may seem like political engagement as a conservative is futile but don’t give up. I feel that way often too, especially with all the RINOs / CINOs. Sometimes your walk and talk with those close to you can change hearts and minds, both politically and for the sake of the Gospel. Best of luck on your job search...I’ve stayed near a large city because I’ve felt like accounting jobs in rural areas would be scarce.

Agreed. I’ll go one step further - hate speech is free speech. It is not violence and therefore should not be banned. Serious (read: not a joke/meme) calls to initiate immediate physical violence are a separate category that probably has merit for removal.

Unless “those for whom you have no respect” occupy elected positions. At least in the US, with the unfortunate ever expanding scope of government, you are more likely to have you wages/property stolen, be told what to do or not do, etc even if you’ve never been married. Going one’s own way...the legal “way” gets narrower and narrower with every law passed or EO signed designed to box you in.

If I understand correctly, these days people get in utero tests for congenital issues (down syndrome for instance). If you’re already obtaining child DNA, couldn’t one incorporate a paternity test that way?

The production of goods creates value? That can be accomplished by one person, but your previous comment said we need a society to create the value/wealth? Inconsistent. If you want to call a learned understanding of what the creators of the US Government considered the purpose and scope of government “conditioning” that’s fine. I call it an education. You have a good day as well!
/r/MensRights21/12/20 04:25 AM

It is the VOLUNTARY exchange of goods that creates value. Why do you think there was mass starvation in Russia when Stalin collectivized the farms in the 30s? Took them from the peasant owners, forced others to work them, and stole (sorry, “taxed”) the output.

Rights by definition should be negative rights. Positive rights are, by their nature, immoral. The fact that countries rewrote the definition of rights has no impact on this determination. You cannot guarantee goods or services provided by someone else. To do so requires force of some sort. Either you’re stealing goods, enslaving someone for their services, or stealing money from people to pay others to do it willingly. Either way you look at it, it is immoral. Do it voluntarily, and encourage o…

If you read more carefully, I didn't say "my" basement. I'm paying for a lot of prison beds for non-violent offenses, or for victimless crimes. Many of those people shouldn't be in prison, full stop. Additionally, I shouldn't be paying taxes to pad private prison Income Statements. I already know defense department spending is ~20% of the annual federal budget and I'm not particularly pleased about it. In terms of materiality, there's an even worse offender. Housing is not a human right, nor should it be anyone’s legal obligation to provide someone with housing. Moral? Maybe. Suppose I showed up at your house and said “hey, I’m gonna live in your basement now instead of the sidewalk, thanks.” Or suppose I said “I’m taking $250 from you to pay my rent this month, thanks” and you legally were required to comply. How would you feel? If you’re like most people, you would feel like I have no right to do either of those things. You are absolutely correct …
/r/MensRights20/12/20 10:24 PM

It isn’t primarily about the budget (thought that is def a consideration). It’s about the scope and purpose of the federal government. Providing such things is not within its stated purview.
/r/MensRights20/12/20 09:55 PM

Public housing, therapy, general healthcare for everyone? These things are beyond the scope of the federal government. If we want to make it part of a post-employment benefits package for members of the military, that’s a potential discussion. I think a more effective option is to be more selective on what we’re doing with our military around the world.
