(26m) 2nd gen Asian American here, I have slowly given up on the idea of marriage altogether. When I was 20 I dreamed of being in a happy marriage with a wife and 4-5 kids where I would be the cool Airline Pilot dad. I’m 26 and since HS I have been in one barely situationship where I dated her a couple times but she dumped me for a guy she was seeing on the side and everyone else never got past talking stage. This is my last year of giving it a good earnest try at dating. I want a monogamous rel…

I think that the way the dating coaches approach dating is wrong but the methods are right. Their mindset is about adding the notches to their belt, a lot of guys(myself included) do not care all that much about sleeping with a ton of women and just want a relationship. Modern dating for the average 20 something is hell and many of us are forced to adopt these tactics because being a “nice guy” gives people the ick.

I willingly went into the industry because I have loved aviation since I was a child. Some people go into these industries for more than a paycheck, when it comes to Aviation in particular its not a trucking job where anyone can join, you have to love it in order to survive, other wise you will be miserable.

Blanket bandaid medicating is a awful idea on so many levels, lemme explain three. 1-Major disqualifying factors for high skill careers involving machinery. Men do a overwhelming majority of physical/dangerous/high skill such as my career as a Airline Pilot. Anti depressants do more than suppress mood, they also induce drowsiness and other side effects that may reduce your ability to operate machinery. Now imagine thousands of medicated truck drivers, boat captains, nuclear technicians, forklift…

My career made me instantly appealing but I honestly never thought of that aspect because my Autistic ass went into the career because I’ve loved it since I was a kid. Its kind of made me a bit bitter because years of trying beforehand got me nowhere and the moment I added it to my occupation on dating apps I got hit with a bucket load of matches.

Have a honest conversation with him about why you rejected him/her. Most people ghost because they lack the maturity to face their problems in a uncomfortable situation. Ghosting leads to zero growth on both sides and just shows a high level of immaturity. Yes I get it that some people ghost because the other party is crazy or dangerous or both but they’re not the rule, just exceptions and people tend to focus on those too much.

Some people are able to just brush it off, but for a lot of younger people who have thinner skin, the rejection will make things awkward and they never have a conversation about it so it festers at the back of their mind making the interaction’s uncomfortable. And attraction can happen at anytime, you may not find them attractive(looks or personality wise) initially then as you hang out and interact more often you may find that thing that makes you attracted to them in a romantic way, could happ…

Usually I just lurk and meme but this comment resonated with me so hard it felt like a punch to the gut. from being a emotional teddy bear to being deceived into as a third wheel to recently where a girl flirted with me because I was the smartest person in class and ghosted me the moment the semester ended.

I mean of for me looks just gets you in the door, personally is what makes me stick around. Part of being mature growing up and getting old together, hopefully with kids. Sticking it out through the thick and thin. Today’s culture of instant gratification + fomo is a blight that has poisoned modern dating and relationships

The easiest solution to this is make high skill non-college jobs more viable like Mining, Construction, and Transportation. But that requires slashing immigration and cutting down on global imports which no one wants

I for one want to see women in more dangerous trades like industrial fishing, mining, logging, transportation, and frontline warfare. Equality on all fronts, including workplace accidents!
/r/PurplePillDebate19/04/23 10:13 AM

I mean, would you want to work on a crab fishing boat, out on a sea oil rig working with heavy equipment, piloting a passenger aircraft in a storm, or thousands of feet underground mining coal? Would you be willing to put life and limb to prove him wrong?

Yes, I wouldn’t mind a stay-at-home wife. But thats up to her in the end. Especially with my career path leading me to be away from home for days to weeks on end I’d like some security knowing the kids and house are always cared for while I log time in the sky.

Having large amounts of Single young men is dangerous for a society. They have no one to live for, so who do they die for? And if someone can reach out to them with a malicious idea in mind? Its not hard to see how you can convert a large group of desperate lonely men

People will complain about everything. OP’s point is trying to expand our thinking to how being men being unsuccessful at dating affects his family. Women are pickier nowadays so what was seen as average back then is no longer attractive

Its less of nice guys and more of average Mcaverage. Again, this is more of a societal disconnect between generations. Gen Xers are probably the last generation to enjoy traditional methods of courtship before the internet blindsided us

My dad did it, he taught me how to fix my own truck(including engine repair), carpentry and plumbing work(we renovated his current house when I was in high school), taught me to shoot my first pistol at 15 and rifles at 18, even taught me how to grill. His main fuckup was getting me into anime lmao. I owe all my self reliant skills to him and I plan to do the same if I ever have kids.

I think its less about blaming mom and more of how parents with outdated views on the world are wondering how are their sons failing to find love.

Honestly what he has described is pretty damn close to how my mother is. She wonders when I’ll get a girlfriend and it hurts my heart when I tell her “some day”. Like someone said in one of the comments, my mom wants grandchildren sometime soon and I want kids one day. I’m 25 now and I’ve given up hope of finding love.

To be honest, finding someone outside of America is my goal. The culture here in SF has basically ruined any chance I possibly could’ve had. The decline is still being looked into, but there seems to be a correlation with pollution and solvents, With higher female born in communities where a petrochemical factory is located near by or if a parent is a known smoker. Its still being investigated but its one among many potential factors like nutrition and hormone cycles.

Unattractive is fine as I’m pretty plain when it comes to features. However as a Student Pilot who would like to take dates up on flights in the future, it would be nice if the date in question doesn’t max out the weight limit of the small aircraft as that can be a hazard. Useful load when fully fueled on a C172 which I fly is 423lb and I weight 173lb. Assuming we aren’t bringing baggage thats a 250lb weight limit. And thats pushing it.

I mean I probably can’t speak for all men, but a good portion of dudes don’t care for the sex and just want the prospect of a happy mutually beneficial relationship, if we just want pleasure our right hand and the corner prostitute is there. The issue is in todays climate the average joe basically lives with a giant void in their heart where friends and immediate family can’t fill. Everyone wants to be wanted by someone.

From the environmentalist standpoint? No. From a Economic standpoint? Absolutely. Immigration imo is a short term band-aid on a larger problem. The funny thing is immigrants tend to adopt their new home’s culture and within less than a generation their kids tend to follow western cultures, as such its only temporary and last about a generation or two. There are multiple reasons for population decline, death by a thousand cuts if you will: Western populations tend to have kids later in life and l…

I would say I’m a pretty average man. For context I’m 25, Asian American 5’8” and I’m a College Student and Student Pilot in the SF Bay Area. I’ll be honest my dating life is pretty bare. I have been in 1 relationship years ago, and a handful of dates. In my teens I was a painfully shy and incredibly lanky autistic kid who was known as the “plane kid”. The wage gap has to do with gender-based discrimination in the workplace. This is illegal in the USA and a lot of western nations. Men typically work higher paying jobs because a lot of those higher paying jobs are things that are either: Dangerous Already Male centric like Engineering Incredibly uncomfortable All of the above Women are already crushing men in college education and occupying more and more higher paying office jobs so the gender pay gap argument no longer holds as much water.
