My dad constantly watched Dick’s video series when I was growing up, he’s definitely an inspiration. So much so that my dad is now actually looking at a small piece of land on an island up there to do a scaled down version of that. The kids didn’t chose to be born, and I’m going to be paying for their tab anyway if the state has to take care of them. It’s not so much facilitating as it is making the best of a shit situation, at least the way I see it. On top of that, if you can adopt as a single father you have 100% say in how your child is raised, so you can teach them this stuff early.

The way it was presented to me, I believe they wanted to go for sale by owner so they could self finance and avoid potential bank inspections, making the owner process potentially easier. It’s hard to call it a “problem”, as a huge portion of land in this county has some wetlands. The price would be dropped to about 50-60k from 95, this would be to compensate for the mitigation that would likely be required.

I mean, I can sort of relate. It reminds me of when I got the call that my brother had died. I lived across the country, so after I got the call I immediately started making travel and moving arrangements to be closer to my parents for awhile. It wasn't until I slowed down for a bit while packing and a roommate checked in on me that the gravity/reality of the situation set in that I got emotional.
