Find a "sweet spot" at the venue and just post up there with a friend. The sweet spot will be a high-traffic area where you can make eye contact and open girls. Usually, you need a wing or two to pull this off so you don't stand around looking like a dumbass, but you can do it yourself if it's in a crowded area.

Everybody, especially me, has problems with approaching (without alcohol). You just need to practice, practice, practice. You need to go through a lot of rejections. Also, your Game gets rusty, so you should never go more than a week without making approaches.

Everybody's different. Point is, if you no longer have full control of yourself, you're not going to perform well. Once the depressive side of alcohol kicks in and you're not as positive as before, you're finished. At bars, I buy drinks to carry around and look more casual more than anything else. They're basically props for me.

A couple drinks to loosen up is fine. Getting drunk is only going to make the hangover worse, because you then have to contend with all the rejections that came about as a result of your getting too sloshed. I would say about 50-60% of my rejections were a direct result of my inability to control my drinking. This is because I go out solo a lot of the time and there are periods where there is nothing to do but drink.
