Also Mrs. Piggle Wiggle series. Bonus points - it has some nice light satire of 1950s mores, but not through a gender lens.

Louis Sachar is a great children's author (at least, almost everything before "Small Steps") with material for ages from elementary to middle school, with Wayside School series (perfect for reading to kids) ans Holes (late elementary school onwards) the best ones. He also did the Marvin Redpost series, as well as a lesser-known favorite of mine, "Sixth Grade Secrets". The books are great for both boys and girls and have a lot of wordplay, depth, ans hidden connections.

Heidi and A Little Princess fall into that category.

I generally tell him, if only to allow for the mechanics of "hanky panky" without ruining the bedding. I don't make him closely examine my feminine products though.

Wow, that is impressive. When do you yourselves go to bed, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks! For comparison, when do you go to bed? We are night owls, and it's hard to put baby to bed that early when I only get home from work at 6:30 or later.... (Husband has a less regular schedule, so he is with her afternoons.)

Melissa Joan Hart maybe?

Check out Victor/Victoria. It's hard to think of Mary Poppins and that movie being the same person, and yet they are. :p

That sounds so rough; and you don't want to just up-and-leave, after you sunk so much time and effort into it. I've been in a similar (though less dire) situation with a significant other in school, so your situation touches near to my heart. Have you ever actually told him your concerns in any form? I know he's reassuring you, but that might be on his own initiative, because he understands that the current situation sucks and feels guilty about it. But if you always go "no, it's fine!" in answe…

Question for all: when did, or do, you put your toddler to bed? What time, approximately? Are they good sleepers? I am getting into a routine, at long last, but still something to be desired.

I think at this point some self-improvement is on him. There's a chance that, even if you become a pornstar sex goddess he will just see it as you putting on an act or trying to leave him, so one-sided improvement won't help. Also, whether or not he's into RP in theory, passive-aggressive comments about sex sure aren't "outcome independence", which they preach over at Married Red Pill. Now, what do you do about it, as the neck to your family's head, who turns it every which way? That is a harder…

I think it becomes a lot more thankless drudgery depending on husband's attitude, passivity, and manliness. If he just plays video games all day and can't manage simple tasks when you have a doctor's appointment; if he subscribes to they view that "anything I can't do must be easy" ( a la Dilbert boss), etc.- any of these in varying degrees and the woman will eventually get resentful, regardless of her official workload, her husband's occasional forays into "choreplay". and her work quality over…

I like the idea of "saving" or "earning" desserts. :) Also, that weight after kids is impressive!

If you have insecurities regarding your weight, address them somehow, because those insecurities are a greater risk to your relationship than your husband's displeasure. You might start projecting, interpreting minor remarks as reproaches, over-reacting, and picking fights, all of which WILL destabilize the relationship. Your husband probably means what he says (unless he has a history of passive aggression), but you're probably more emotionally mature for now given your relative ages, so you mi…

If you're in private practice, you can do it part-time or provide services via telehealth. I like to read a blog called Dr. Psychmom - she's got 3 kids and has what I guess is a part time clinical psychology practice. She has a great quote that I like -"you can give your kids 100% of your love, but 75% of your time". :p I'm not saying her solution is your solution, but it doesn't have to be all-or-nothing.

All the best wishes to you! Old age is the price for seeing the future, but a child -biological or adopted - is a chance to reinvent the best of our own youth and improve upon it, and to send our particular light into the world.

He has a series of 5 ("Incerto"), but Black Swan, Anti-Fragile, and Skin in the Game. SITG is most ethics-focused, most recent, most interesting IMO; came out a month before 12 rules (similar format cover even!), but is also probably not the best first Taleb book.

This is a tangent, but once you've exhausted the Jordan Peterson reading library as gifts, move on to Nassim Taleb. :p

If your husband is a fan of western civilization, and you guys have a stable and loving family with good values, you should maximize the amount of that in the world. Also, what you pay for with your body's youth you gain in forestalling the onset of old age if you're still a young mother in your 40 s - at least it seems thst way from people I've observed.

"Retire early" is a worthy goal, but not at the expense of the marriage and family and home. He won't have any of those at the rate he's going by his target date of 45 or whenever. I think this should be pointed out to him - not in so many words, of course, but nonetheless. It is a FO reporting leaks to the captain - perfectly reasonable IMO (in case he follows RP stuff).

Get your husband to make friends with wives and hang out with them. If your husband wants for social skills or his co-workers stink, go to your local Jordan Peterson meet-up.
