Same thing here on the early 30s female side. After an estimated 90+ different dates, I've met maybe four guys in the last 6.5 years since being single that I genuinely enjoyed being around and wanted to get to know better, but nothing panned out. Hooking up has never been my style, but now I'm somewhat actively avoiding it, the emptiness. God speed, Sir.

Maybe I should have defined his shyness better - he's a guy that has a lot to be proud of, and is very confident in many ways. It's not like he's so shy that he's socially inept.

You made it sound a little more extreme than it was, but that's fine. I suppose I neglected to add that we've known each other for about a year via our mutual friends. My shit test: probably a side-effect of too much Seddit - admittedly a bitch move. And you're right: not EVERY FUCKING GIRL likes the same thing, hence the varied field reports and guidance on figuring out what the girl in front of you is looking for.

Oh, don't get me wrong - after being here for the last year or so I've come to fully appreciate that. I love all those videos about "talking to anyone" in elevators, stores, etc., reading body language, number closing, etc. The users here have offered a ton of valuable conversational advice and character building techniques. I know quite a few people that were sheltered by their parents, picked on in the schoolyard, or grew up without a father and never got to learn natural-ways. My pissed-off i…

I'll see of I can round up some of my more trusted, objective lady friends - but don't worry, I won't tell too many women about Seddit so as to destroy the community.

I understand Seddit working both ways. To be honest, I just can't plain get into a guy if he's not making any moves - being super Alpha isn't totally necessary, but being incredibly passive most definitely isn't getting me into ya (or you into me --- ba-dum-tsh!) - and once you've got me, trust me - the Seduction becomes pretty one-sided from there.

And, come on, anything Ryan Gosling does would probably work. TRUTH.

Yes and no. My dating history is speckled with a few LTRs, so prior to this past year I hadn't really experienced any Gaming. My first encounter to Seddit opened my eyes to the fact that there are learned moves that guys employ. For the most part, I think I always figured charming and smooth-talking guys were natural, and naively bought most of it as genuine - so to be honest, seeing the lingo and having my eyes opened to certain PUA moves kinda pissed me off! Suddenly, I was really skeptical ab…

Naw, Groupon Guy was a different date. And good on ya! Never wait again, especially if the cues are there :) Once I see the 3-4 foot gap form at the car/front door, the funny looking-down-at-your-feet-dance, dodgey eyes, and trailing conversation including a bunch of "So, yeah"s and "Yeah, so..."s, I'm gonna hug and bolt.

It's possible, and I'm perfectly ok with that; our mutual friends have talked him up like he is into me, and keep saying he's shy. This post was meant to be more of an observation than a "how can I tell if a guy is into me" thing - I don't stress about that.

With the added information that you perform this on the second date, I approve! Also, really digging the "takes a lot of stress out of the date, since there's no more build up" - I just submitted another post bitching about that exact thing.

My pleasure! I've learned a lot from Seddit, and would love to give back. I could write quite a few more, including one entitled: Don't Use a Groupon on the First Date, Douchenozzle [That coming from a girl who is completely unopposed to going Dutch on a first date because I realize that it's both of us trying to initially figure out whether or not we can stand being in each other's presence for 2-3 hours and if we're wasting each other's time, I don't want you're feel like you've wasted your mo…

Last date I had showed up late enough that I had to buy our movie tickets, and was not able to deliver any kind of funny story. Two strikes.

Upvote for "length directly proportionate to how big your balls are" - I suppose that can be applied to quite a few things.

Yeah, we're here! If things go real well with her, it'd be awesome for you to ask - I'd get a kick out of a guy telling me he was afraid I wouldn't call him back because of a total brain fart.

Yup. I can think of a million different ways to pick someone up in a supermarket - especially of you know how to cook! What's in your basket can set you up for a real good "Oh, I make the best _______ - come over some time and I'll make it for you." (that looks cheesier than it played out in my head) And everyone has to go to the grocery store at some point in the week - not everyone has to go to a bar or club.

Not at all - I tend to be pretty friendly in general, but it's best when a few glances are exchanged and I've kind of invited you to talk to me that way...ohhhhh, Nonverbal Communication, how art thou tricky. Pro Tip: Supermarkets (unless she's buying feminine hygiene products, in which case she's probably hoping you're not looking to closely at her cart.)

Half right. No, girls aren't wearing headphones in clubs and bars - we've inserted ourselves into an overtly social setting, so to wear some buds would be be counter-productive. But saying we don't want to be talked to outside the bar/club context is false - I just like listening to some tunes while out and about, and am aware that I could meet someone at any time of day. The only time some ear buds serve as my anti-social tool is when I am using public transportation.

Yeah, but from my POV, it also depends on the kind of guy. I'm much more likely to be receptive of someone I can tell is genuine over someone I can tell is just trying to pick me up. (Maybe that's just because I'm a relationship-oriented kind of girl.)

(Chick here) Funny this topic should come up. I've officially been single for a year now, and actually realized last night that I miss those three damn words: "I miss you." I miss having someone to feel it for and saying it to them, as well as hearing it from someone and inferring that they are thinking of me and/or can't wait to see me again. I think some recent solo travels made it spring to mind once I realized no one really gave a shit that I was upstate or in another state entirely. Le sigh…

Similarly, paraphrasing something I think I saw on Reddit: "The person in control of the relationship is the one that cares the least." Sad, but often true.

I get the same question when I tell the fellas I do forensic accounting for family law litigation...usually sounds like: "Gee, I wonder how that profession changes one's perspective of marriage." Me: "Ummm...it kills it."
