once I teased the girl because she was late and said I already left when she had just gotten there

then I found her touched her on the back of the elbow, got in a little bit closer than normal and said hey

then I lead her to where we were going to sit. meeting somewhere that isn't where you are actually sitting is good, you can lead immediately and she will of course follow, which sets a good dynamic up

Nope. You don't want to try to impress right of the bat. In fact you want to do the opposite, actively not try to impress her. Just relax and enjoy yourself from the get go. Any attempt to make an impression is going to backfire.

Here's the first thing I found while searching the interwebs:

I do not touch when I first meet her. I just give her a big smile and say hi and say something casual or funny. Then we just sit down and start talking like we’re already old friends. A lot of guys immediately hug women on a first date like this. If you haven’t already met her in real life, not only do I think that’s fake, I think it actually makes a lot of women more nervous, not less. (By the way, never shake a woman’s hand on a date, even if she offers. No no no.)
Talk for a while about her life. Still no kino yet.
Move the conversation to relationship and sex talk.
Start touching her hands and arms. If there is a table between us and they’re not in easy reach, I’ll literally say “Give me your hand for a minute.” They always comply at this point and I touch. After touching her for a bit I’ll look down at her arm and say something like “hm”. That often starts yet another topic about touching or sex.

When you see her, walk towards her with a big smile and your arms extended as if you are ready to give her a big hug. Give her that big hug, but lift her up and say "I'm taking you home with me" and walk away with her for a couple of feet, length directly proportional to how big your balls are.

Seed a plan in advance, i.e. mention that when you meet you'll show her :super-secret-handshake: and then launch right into it when you meet (fist bumps, hand slaps, chicken dance, whatever)
