Another thing I observe is that my starting point appears to be a lot lower than yours. Even at the start of your journey you could get HJ's 3-4 times a week. My wife is much less compliant than that. Sigh...

Two years - that's amazing. Even in your early OYS, you seem to have had your shit together much better than I. There's so much work that I need to do.

I got you - thank you. All points well taken.

Thanks! Some more thoughts/questions... You are insufferable. You love making mouth noises so much. That's what my wife has been telling me all these years, and now I know why. Previously I thought I would convince her with my logic and arguments. So dumb, but I never realized it at the time. I can name countless things my wife didn't do (with me) when I was not who I am today. Everything is on the table now, prefaced with "please tell me what to do"... The good sex falls into place when you are…

Thank you very much. Points all well taken. Appreciate your time in writing it. So what should I have done in that instance? It's all like "You're such a cheap guy. I knew I shouldn't have married you. My friend's husband lets her have his credit card." A non-stop stream of attacks and complaints. Just literally STFU? What might some DARE responses be? I understand that I shouldn't be looking for shortcuts, but game is nearly like a foreign language to me so any tips would be helpful. The only o…

OYS #1 (first time posting here, let me know if the formatting is off or difficult to read) Background: 36M, married for 12 years. Two primary school kids. Been a career beta all of my life. Some previous posts I made on AskMRP (I, II, III) revealed just how far I was away from being the man I need to be. Physical: 5'8, 140 lbs. Started lifting around 6 months ago. Have struggled with posture/muscle imbalance issues all my life, so am currently working with a physical trainer to learn muscle con…

Thank you very much, your thoughts regarding finances and stress are extremely helpful. I will absorb and digest them. They make a ton of sense. To the rest of your post, yeah, I know I've painted a one-sided story here but I do feel at least partly responsible for her. I don't think she's a gold digger, because when we married I wasn't as financially as well off as I am now. She followed me to a different country for four years so I could get my doctorate, giving up her job and career. I begged…

That's really smart. Plus your point about necessary stress was insightful. I always thought that my role as a husband was to provide comfort and minimize stress for my wife. Clearly I was wrong. Can you speak more broadly about when is it appropriate to create necessary stress? Or link me to an article about it? Thanks in advance. Just wondering, so you were willing to risk a mortgage payment not being paid to enforce your boundary? With me the situation is a bit more complicated because wife d…

Thank you very much. The repayment plan was my initial idea too, but never worked as my frame was not strong enough to resist her guilt-tripping me into waiving her debt. I've probably waived around $50k of her credit card debt in total over the last 10 years, in addition to the $2k/month allowance I provide her when she's not working. Sounds embarrassing to say it out loud. But I did tell her that I was serious this time in never paying her credit card debt again. I hope I'll have the strength …

Thank you for the honest assessment. To answer the questions, no she's not adding much value to my life right now other than taking care of the kids. The housekeeper does the chores and cooking but my wife still reads to them, helps them with homework, gets them ready for school. Stuff that only takes a few hours a day maximum admittedly. Sex with me once or twice a month, it's not nothing but nowhere near enough. I guess the main reason I'm still trying to keep the family together is for the ki…

Thank you for reading my post and your advice, I will read and digest this. (Not to get argumentative with you, she is a genuine clean freak though. Borderline neurotic about it. She's disgusted even about the smell of her own pussy after I've fingered her, and so doesn't let me go down on her either).

Thank you, as mentioned I did successfully apply NMMNG principles to resist the urge to act on that thought, in fact that was where I got the idea to give freely (to relieve her debt with no strings attached) without expectation of reciprocation. Next step is to not have those thoughts in the first place? Will need to finish WISNIFG and will hopefully be able to do the right thing when it comes to that.

Thank you, that was very helpful. Good to know that I'm not alone, although I guess I am starting from a deeper place than most. It will be a long road. Your advice is useful and will help me put this into practice in the real world.

I get what you're saying, and appreciate the advice. I agree that alot of this post is just background about her and our relationship. I did want to give some background on how (I think) I'm making some progress into NGAF about what she thinks about me, and me of her. The issue I'm facing here though is how do I reconcile NGAF about destructive behaviors from my wife, that would have negative consequences for our family? To answer your other questions - it would mainly be the kids, but as for th…

Thank you, that makes alot of sense. Appreciate it. The part I'm struggling with now is how to "give a fuck" without falling back to my beta ways. I can't force her to keep our live-in housekeeper. I can't force her to not overspend from her credit cards or use the grocery money for her own purchases. My beta self would resort to explanation, pleading, bargaining, ultimatums. Or just it blowing up into a huge argument.

Thanks for the response. I am a slow learner, and plenty of holes are still there. I hope I'm still able to ask some questions to this sub in the meantime. I will keep reading. It's going to take some time to get through all of the sidebar but I'm desperate on advice to help integrate my limited knowledge with actual practice so that I know I'm in the right direction. Like in the last post, I guessed that the question was a test but didn't know whether it was a comfort test or a shit test which …

Right, I do need to finish that book. Although I guess, this time, I'm not exactly guilty about having this desire, I have expressed my wish clearly but was worried that a DGAF attitude would simply just lead to her ignoring me and doing her own thing with negative consequences for the family, thus causing me to fall back into my beta ways to attempt to control the situation. But the other part of your original comment did address this. Thank you.

Thank you, I do understand. I hope it's still OK to ask clarifying questions as I progress. I'm an educator by training. I know that I can tell my students to read all the material on a topic, but for those who have no natural aptitude or talent for the subject, they'd still get stumped by the easiest questions. Those students require some more personalized assistance to guide them on the right track, which can speed up their learning many times fold. My progress these 6 months has been limited …

Is OYS Weekly the place to ask questions? I thought that was just for progress reports and reflection for more mature members whereas askMRP is for newbies asking questions. Will be happy to delete this post and repost there if that is the case.

Thanks for the reply - it's actually a broken shoulder that can't be put into a cast, so the prescription was minimal movement of the shoulder joint for 4 weeks, so I can give her a pass on the sex. And I haven't gotten a proper blowjob for 10 years, the most I've gotten recently (last time was over a year ago) is some licking around the shaft because she has a very sensitive nose and doesn't like the taste/smell of cum or precum. Paradoxically, perhaps because she knows that sex isn't on the ta…

I got it. But what to do if she follows up "why are you ignoring me?" Can I literally STFU and walk away? Seems rude and unnatural, as I imagine the scenario in my head.

Right, I can see how it appears that way. I'm so far off from getting "it", that any indication that would point me towards that "it" is helpful for me. I'm not asking for a bandaid, I'm trying to figure out how to not get my leg blown off but I don't see which way the missiles are coming from. I don't know what I don't know, kind of thing. The comments in this post have been useful in this regard, including your comment. Have been doing those last three things and will continue to do so.

Thank you very much. I do understand the point about the playbook, I really do. I'm not trying to look for shortcuts and I understand that it's a very long journey ahead. The problem is that I've been so ingrained in the beta mindset for so long - as I go on the path of becoming "that man", having tips on what to say and do in a given situation is really helpful, to complement my reading of the MRP material, helps me to internalize it when I know what the "right" thing to do is.
