In Australia, is "bathroom" the most common name for the Whiz Palace? When I was in Europe, WC was the go-to.

Your first paragraph was one of the most British things I've ever read.

Wait why is he getting downvotes

Thanks, that's a great line! Keeping all the information together instead of across a string of messages seems to be a good thing to keep in mind.

Yeah I think doing it all in one text would work better. Same amount of info, less steps/effort

Yeah I thought coffee was super casual but now that you've pointed it out, it's still essentially asking to have one-on-one time specifically for the purpose of getting to know each other, which might be more high-stakes than it would initially seem. It's not like I've been spamming her texts or anything, so I'll suggest hanging out in a few days. As you said in the last paragraph, if there's still no response then I'll be direct or just move on! Thanks, you have some good insight.

Once we actually meet up I have no issue being fun and spontaneous. My challenge is actually getting them to meet up with me in the first place without appearing desperate! How the fuck are you supposed to meet someone without establishing a damn time and place haha

So I say I we should get coffee. She agrees. I ask if Sunday is good, she says she's free all day. I suggest a time, get ghosted. How exactly can I keep it more casual than that? Any less communication and I have no idea how it can happen at all.

Maybe, I do like rock and metal. I'm a fucking pro at Guitar Hero but that will probably work against me

Thanks for the science! I'm starting to check out /r/eatcheapandhealthy, some real good knowledge there.

I agree with you and Mark Manson. As a semantic point, being honest is definitely a strategy, albeit the one that should come most naturally.

That's a great way to look at hobbies! Finding things that round out myself as a person seems important.

That sounds great! Does the game automatically display your location or something, or do you just work it into a conversation? I'd imagine just spamming A/S/L isn't going to get you very far haha

When do you usually bring up the fact that you're into these activities? The first time you meet them? I'm concerned it would throw up an immediate red flag with a large majority of women. I just can't picture a situation where I'm passionately describing my Magic decks to some chick and it's not massively cringe-worthy.

I love hiking, though I wasn't aware there were groups where random people just meet up and go climb a mountain. I live in Seattle where hiking is plentiful, so I could probably find something. Do you know of any resources for finding meet up groups?

Precisely. The thing is, I'm usually hesitant to express enthusiasm for these activities, at least until I get to know the girl a bit better. My concern is that during the initial conversation I'll come across as bland, without anything I'm passionate about. Hence this post.

I find this a bit far-fetched, even if you may have had personal success with this strategy.

That's messed up, you were just being realistic.

Yeah this would be ideal, if it weren't for the fact that 95% of the people at any given LGS are male.

24, and while I'm quite good at MOBAs I'm not pro-level good unfortunately. That's actually an interesting suggestion on pro poker! Have you tried it yourself?

Physical fitness is already a huge priority in my life - I've gone down from 300+ lbs to around 190 in the last couple of years. I'm already lifting 2-3x a week, but I think I should be eating more greens and lean food rather than steaks.

THEY'RE ILLUSIONS, DAD! Also no, I was referring to Magic: The Gathering.

Not me but my roommate. Our neighbor is gender-queer (biologically female) and my roommate is bisexual (biologically male). Both are fanatical social justice warriors on Tumblr. They hit it off damn fast. If you want to seduce a girl who is asexual, I'd start by understanding the asexual mindset, and verbally empathize with her situation.

Fake it till you make it! I hear you man. It's good to know that with some perseverance and an attitude change I can start having some success. My main problem remains that I'm just really inept at flirting and hitting on women in general. What I think is me being a smooth talker usually amounts to a nice, boring conversation. Next time I go out, I'm going to put on an uncomfortably cocky persona, see how that turns out.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
